Donnie's Coffee Shop in Monmouthshire

Fantastic coffee shop , went recently with my daughter , nothing to much trouble , the ladies serving absolutely lovely . They both made me and my daughter feel at home . They even turned the music off so my daughter could sing. Coffee was superb , gem of a find.

Went to Donnie's for the first time and had breakfast - ordered a small breakfast and a veggie breakfast. Sat in the marquee outside. Food was great, service was good (very friendly staff), price is very good. Coffees were great - all round great experience. However only reason I'm giving it 4 stars not 5 is the use of paper plates and takeaway cups instead of normal plates and mugs. It seemed very bizarre in this day and age to have disposable items as a default, so if that changed it would be 5/5.

Visited multiple times for breakfast and a coffee. Fantastic little place with lovely staff and a very fun and cheerful atmosphere. Definitely recommended if you are in the area. Thank you!

We left Newport heading home but needed a bite to eat. Stopped off at this lovely village and found this cafe. It's small friendly cafe that does great baguettes and cakes. Brought the cakes home for our daughter who thought they were wonderful. Definitely recommend

Lovely coffee, tea and sausage baguettes. Great service. Sat outside in the sunshine.

The website says they are open until 3pm. So we stopped in for lunch. Sorry we were told we stop serving food at 2pm. Nothing about that on their website. The time - exactly 2pm A bit like Marie Antoinette we were told we could have cake. We didn't want cake. We wanted lunch. So we went to the Golden Lion opposite and had a superb lunch there.

Thank you girls for the wonderful carrot cake. Really appreciate your thoughtfulness. Donnies is a lovely place to eat and meet up with friends. Everyone is helpful and friendly. Love going there xx

Widest selection of tea in NP26?? Went for coffee and tea with my friend, sat outside since it was sunny, felt very welcome. Coffee could be improved, but it was fine.

Unfortunately when I got home I realised I had been given the wrong order, so most of my sandwich was given to the cats. I was very disappointed and I'm not sure I would go back again because of this, especially as I paid £4 for a sandwich that I didn't want.

So glad we stopped here - delicious lunch, and incredibly friendly and lovely team!

A lovely local business coffee shop, the coffee was great so too was the food.

Food was okay… service was not. As of writing the set up was outdoor seating with a gazebo with 4 tables. Responses from staff were seemed to be very short for example asked if “we could have had scrambled eggs instead of fried on breakfast” only to be told that the “breakfasts only came with fried egg” which seemed bizarre to me. (But if you had egg of toast you could have scrambled). The amount of waste created was abhorrent… the drinks came in takeout cups with a plastic spoon, and the breakfast come out on paper plates with wooden cutlery! which is extremely wasteful considering we were sat in there own seating area! And when asked about the single use cutlery and plates we was responded with “we are trying our best” just seemed a bit rude to me. Food overall was 3/5. Drinks were 3/5 (single use cups and hot chocolate was instant!) service was 2/5. So this what’s you get for trying to support local businesses. Next time we will go back to fantasicos (who use proper cutlery & plates) next door!

Donnies Coffee Shop have looked after all of us working in our office in The Square ever since they opened and we really appreciate how lucky we are to have them! Food is always delicious, super fresh and beautifully presented and even during lockdown they manage to offer such a wide choice of menu. Such style, flair and so friendly.

The coffee shop prides itself on reputation yet the manner I find quite disturbing as never been so insulted in my life When I requested a refund being a retired fireman, many years in the service I thought they show me a little respect all started good until I made a comment about hygiene issues The food presentation and hygiene as a lot to be desired considering the great reviews online

I found Donnie's Coffee Shop recently on a bike ride. It looks lovely and cosy, however, due to COVID-19, it's not possible to dine inside although there is several tables outside in a covered seating area. The staff offer a genuinely warm welcome and are friendly and chatty whilst being professional. The food and coffee are amazing, and they also offer a takeaway service but the best bit was the staff singing happy birthday to me today! 👍 Will definitely be visiting again but hopefully in nicer weather and when lockdown is over.

Amazing coffee served with love and smile, just what I needed when I visited Magor for a Business meeting. The cafe is work friendly and the coffee is great.

It’s very small inside, but staff are nice. We waited quite a while for our breakfast so I was going to rate this place as ‘poor’ because we could also see some of the food banged into the microwave. However, when the food arrived I was blown away. I had the large breakfast and it was amazing! See photo!

Four of us came out for a birthday breakfast and were very full at the end. The meal had many different foods and all of us were very pleased. Thank you!

Anytime I go into a very small business like this and see it full and people working hard my hat is tipped to them. The coffee and tea cake were great but the local village atmosphere was even better. Tables all packed, moms, babies, strollers, oap's...loved it.

Wonderful stop off when going crosscountry on the M4. Found on a google search this lovely cafe in the centre of Magor has friendly staff and served a lovely coffee and toasted teacake. There is free village parking outside the church less than 30 yards away. Far, far better than a motorway services anyday.

Looking for a lunch stop on our way from Devon to Brecon Beacons. Found you on Google maps. So glad we did, far better than any Services just a short detour into a pretty little village. Warm and cosy with very friendly staff and perfect lunchtime food. We'll be back😁

This place is one of those unexpected gems that you find quite by accident because you don’t want to use those over priced impersonal motorway services. We came here twice on our journey into and out of Wales. On both occasions we found the all day breakfast absolutely delightful. The service can be a little slow as they cook everything to order but if you are not in any big hurry there is no problem with this. My special memory of this place was the amazing bacon. It was thick and above all delicious, tasted like real pork. The staff were friendly and helpful so I will definitely come here again next time I travel to Wales.

Lovely.It was popular with the locals, which is always a good sign. I'd certainly go there again, and perhaps I'll have time for a breakfast or lunch. It all looked very appetising.

Visited with my wife sister and brother in law. The latter is disabled and confined to a wheelchair which makes life very difficult. The staff at this establishment could not be kinder or more accommodating and oh, yes, the food is good too.

Magor is one of those places you drive past when traveling West to East or East to West on the M4. Next time you are driving past, stop off in Magor. There is plenty of free parking and it is far nicer than any motorway services you may come across.

The best place to meet friends, great fresh brewed tea in china pots and a chicken baguette and enough salad to keep you going all week! Complete bargain, friendly service, cosy warm room.

Don't bother with the M4 services. This is a great little place on the square in Magor. Good all fresh - try the BLT. Great service and so clean.

The best cafe in Magor and beyond! I love this little quirky cafe in the centre of the lovely square. They do a fantastic toasted teacake and a generous and delicious full English. The girls are always so friendly and helpful. The collection of colourful teapots are fab and the cafe is furnished beautifully and always very clean. Highly recommend a visit!

My family and I are regulars at the cafe the device is outstanding the staff are polite helpful and very well mannered the cafe is very well run the food is delicious and is delivered in a very reasonable time also a very good thing about the cafe is they cater for children very well with books toys and colouring in would recommend this cafe to be the best in magor

Delicious and delightful staff at Donnie's. Yummy breakfast! Even the small serve was sufficient & filling. Lovely ceramic teapots of lovely English tea & fresh baked goods aplenty. Sinatra in the background...whistling patrons. A happy spot. Highly recommended.

We have lived here in Magor for ten years now! I remember Donnie's first opening as a cafe. They have always been very friendly and welcoming. The food is lovely also enjoyed by my granddaughter 's! It's position in the square means it is in the heart of things! Over the years I have become more disabled and last year in November at the Remembrance Day service, I was struggling to stand and a young lady from Donnie's brought me out a chair to sit on, so thank you so much for your kindness!

We live in the village of Magor but it's a very nice place to sit and watch the world go by. The staff are friendly and the food certainly looks good.

Popped in here yesterday as my dentist was running over an hour late. I wouldn't usually go out to eat alone but the staff made me feel comfortable. Had a ham salad baguette and it was lovely! Would definitely recommend and will be returning :-)

We called in to Donnie's on the way to watch the rugby in Cardiff. It is situated just off the M4 at J23A. The freshly cooked, traditional breakfast was delicious, and the staff warm and welcoming. The perfect start ahead of a day on the beer! Highly recommended.

A great place to visit for a coffee or for lunch. Food is nicely presented and made fresh when ordered.Always have a warm welcome from staff both when I visit on my own or with my three year old grandson who loves their hot chocolate.

One minute away from our self catering cottage on 'The Square'( mind you everything is one minute away in Magor :- 2 pubs , 2 takeaways, 2 other restaurants, pharmacy , dr's surgery , dental clinic, CO-OP, charity shop [handy for replacing broken wine glass!], Post Office, 2 barber's shops etc., etc.Donnie's is your typical chintzy cafe giving quick service at reasonable prices & properly cooked grub! We liked it enough to go again on our final day after packing the car. Sincerely hope we will be able to return to this great village of Magor & break fast again!

Tucked away in the historic Magor Square is Donnies coffee shop and bistro. You are always met with a warm smile along with friendly and attentive service. There's everything you'd expect from a coffee shop .....and more.If you can manage to get a table for one of the occasional tapas night's then you'll be in for a rare treat.

Visited with my parents when walking around the square as they had driven down from Cardiff. They order a baguette each and enjoyed them. Very friendly service and a pleasant atmosphere. Reasonably priced as well.

Our lovely local coffee shop. We often meet up on Saturday mornings as it`s so welcoming. It has a wide range of food for breakfast or a light lunch. I look forward to my catch ups with a teacake and coffee. Staff are so friendly - I look forward to going :)

As our local coffee shop we're regulars to Donnie's for coffee, cakes, light lunches etc, and they're always great value but at the weekend we attended one of their monthly Tapas nights. The food was absolutely incredible, all beautifully cooked and beautifully presented and so much of it. In fact our only issue would be that there was perhaps too much food and we couldn't possibly finish IT all!Highly recommended.

I have eaten in this place a few times and I have always felt very welcome. They do a good coffee and the sandwiches are nice. This is my preferred place for a quick snack in Magor and feel that offering free wifi for customers would improve sales as Magor is a bit of a 3G black spot. The reason for my leaving sooner than I would like each time is due to not having access to work emails whilst I am there. Wifi access would be reason for staying for that second cup and possibly dessert in what is a charming and welcoming place.
