Mi nuevo lugar favorito en Polperro. Fuimos a desayunar tres veces la semana pasada. Desayuno diferente cada vez. Cada comida fue fantástica. Recomiendo encarecidamente la pila de tortitas de salmón y queso crema!

Tomamos un té en crema, uno sin gluten, fue el mejor de todos. El servicio era de primera clase, sin duda recomiendo. Volveremos de nuevo.

Acabo de completar otra estancia en este fabuloso lugar en el corazón de Polperro. ¿Qué puedo decir de esta visita? Durante los tres días de mi estancia, he disfrutado de una deliciosa comida hermosa, vino precioso, y una habitación preciosa con una cama muy cómoda. Todo el personal es de primera clase como siempre, y espero mi próxima visita en junio. Todo lo que puedo decirle a la Casa de los Puntales, es que no cambien nada, ¡ya es perfecto!

The House on Props is a lovely quirky old building/restaurant right on the harbour with the stream running behind it. Lovely food, we had the Lemon Sole and Hake which were excellent but again another restaurant that only opens a few nights so booking essential.

Having now reached the end of my third stay here at this fabulous b&b, and restaurant. I have of course obviously left previous reviews regarding this place. So what can I now add to my previous good reviews? Well this little gem set in the most perfect of locations within Polperro, just keeps getting better and better, it is just so perfect. It actually sparkles out the brightest amongst the other gems in the haven of Polperro. I haven’t written these words above lightly or for no reason, it really is that good. The House on the Props, is just so perfect. The rooms are lovely, the food is total delicious, the cakes are to die for, and the kippers at breakfast are the best I have ever enjoyed anywhere. But that’s the story about the whole menu, it’s the best you will ever experience. Claire and her team can’t do enough for you, and they are the beating heart that keeps this gorgeous establishment at the top. There is a real charm about this place and it’s simply completely magical. I highly recommend you either stay here or eat here. Roll on September, and my long waited return. Thank you to Claire and the whole team for another wonderful stay!!

A beautiful little building right on the corner of Polperro harbour. Its prime function is as a small B&B and daytime cafe. At the time of our visit it only opens on Wednesdays and Thursday evenings for dinner. The menu is fairly limited, as there are only about 20 covers, but every dish was appealing, and the food was absolutely delicious. The restaurant was styled as the inside of an old sailing ship with masts and rigging from a local shipwreck. The staff, (Beth the waitress) and Claire (the owner) were lovely. A great dining experience. If you get the chance go there. 👍😋

Excellent place to eat whilst staying in Polperro or visiting for the day. Had breakfast here twice during a recent stay in the village and it was delicious. Great food, great location and really good service. Can highly recommended

Excellent coffee and breakfast in one of the few places open in Polperro in mid Feb. Very cosy and atmospheric. HighlyRecommended.

The cafe was full of locals and we were made to feel very welcome. We ordered coffees and bacon and egg sandwiches on wholemeal bread. All was excellent and the atmosphere and quality of food in this quaint cafe left a good feeling.

We elected to go for this lovely little property based on price, availability and the quirky nature of the set-up; we were not disappointed in any of these regards! Arrival is something of a chore, only because as any visitor to Polperro will know, most properties have to park cars in the main car park at the top of the village. So a bit of a schleck down to the property at the harbour wall - but we didn't mind too much as prepared and only weekend bags to carry. Lovely welcome by our genial host, Claire - she is lovely - and showed us into an amazing double room that straddled over the river running into the harbour - haw quirky is that! It was a cold December weekend, but the room was toasty warm throughout our stay. The bed was also very comfortable, and the shower hot and powerful enough. Our breakfasts were cooked to order and absolutely first class - we both commented on how nice they were presented, and the coffee that went with was proper coffee - not instant. My partner did mention the Almond baked bread (all cakes and breads are home baked) - give it a try! All in all, a lovely stay in a gorgeous village - we would definitely stay here again!

Eaten in ‘the props’ many times over the years and again this year, it didn’t disappoint. Great breakfast and service. Can highly recommend the detox smoothie if you have over indulged the night before.

We were on a family holiday in Polperro and booked this restaurant for our 25th wedding anniversary. We were so happy we did as the food was exceptional.... The staff were friendly and the atmosphere was lovely.... Definitely recommend a visit but be prepared to pay restaurant prices.

We popped in for what we thought would be a quick coffee but my husband and father in law had other plans and decided to get a late breakfast; they were very pleased they did as it was absolutely fantastic. We live locally so have popped in for many hot chocolates (for the kids), tea, cake and coffee but our first experience of breakfast was fab and even better that we have brought our visitors giving them a great impression as well! Myself and my mother in law had cream tea which was also lovely. We love the fact they offer pots of tea here too. Husband always enjoys his coffee and has found it to be one of the best in the village. First time bringing our toddler and they were able to provide a booster seat for her to join us at the table which I actually preferred to a Highchair and I think she did too. We will be back as we’ve been back many times but definitely now for breakfast more often!

This has been my second visit to this gorgeous place, and definitely not my last. What can I write about this place, well everything was simply perfect. The bed was so very comfy, better than the many 5* hotels I’ve stayed in around the world. The room was lovely with everything one could need. The location is definitely spot on and just where you would want to be in Polperro. The food is completely yummy. Not only did I experience the fabulous breakfast menu this time, but also the lovey lunch menu. The scampi & chips is highly recommended, the best I’ve ever had anywhere, and I really mean that. The cream tea was simply beautiful. The scones, well you need to experience them for yourself, as you would never believe me if I tried to explain just how perfectly beautiful they were. The staff are so lovely, full of smiles, kindness and an old English (Cornish) welcoming hospitality that you might of thought had been lost. I seriously can’t recommend this place highly enough. If you haven’t booked your accommodation in Polperro yet, trust me book this place. If you have already booked somewhere else to stay in the village, then make sure you eat in their fabulous restaurant. Definitely the best cream tea in Polperro or anywhere else! We had a lovely lunch - mussels & chips, seafood chowder and a cream tea - all lovely. Staff were so friendly. We had breakfast, lunch and dinner here on 3 separate days and enjoyed it all.

Fish and chips…..eventually! Ordered 3 fish and chips, fish was nice enough but frozen/overcooked chips was very disappointing. The place wasn’t packed and the wait time from order to food arriving was 45 minutes, wish I hadn’t bothered to be honest 😞

Had a lovely lunch this week gammon ciabatta with chips for myself and husband had ciabatta with prawns and chips really tasty. Quaint little setting staff very friendly. To finish off we had a takeaway cream tea for later which was lovely. Pop in if you in the area you won’t be disappointed.

Had lunch here but goodness knows what they spread the ciabatta with but it tasted very unpleasant. Maybe it was margarine or butter passed it’s best. The chips were over cooked and the salad didn’t seem to have been washed. The chicken was tasteless and very mushy like it had been reheated. I mentioned it to one of the staff and she said sorry but didn’t offer to do anything about it and that was that. Overall not a great experience.

Always a warm welcome with amazing home cooked food, all in the heart of historic Polperro, right on the harbour, perfect!
