The House Bar in Oxford

Had a great time hiring the upstairs for a party. Sam the bartender was very accommodating, helping us set up, with our playlist and was lovely throughout the evening. Excellent cocktail selection as well as beers and soft drinks. We will come again at some point, many thanks!

Waited 20 minutes to get served on a (not particularly busy) Saturday night. Gave up and went to get a kebab. Don’t serve cocktails if you haven’t got the staff to service a moderately small customer base. Food rating is “one”, but we didn’t have any food so have no idea if it’s any good. But doesn’t affect the average. One star.

Wow! Welcoming, fun, and cocktail shows! As a visitor from Canada, nice chat, and swell banter - even when it was busy. Great corny jokes... Marc and Joe are bartenders who make you want to return. Stayed for the ambiance.... Lovely.

The House is a fantastic pub that truly stands out in the area. The drinks menu offers a great selection, and each drink is expertly crafted to perfection. If I could give House a rating of infinity out of five, I absolutely would. For the last 3 years, it has been an absolute haven – my indisputably favourite place in Oxford.

There are very few food options and the nachos we got were overdrenched in the sauce. That said, their French Martini was really really good. We went during the happy hours. Was disappointed to see their 'house beer' on offer was a pint of Heineken. The vibe and the staff are chill. There's a pool table on the first floor.

The staff were lovely, came in 10 mins before close and they were really helpful. Made sure to cater for us even tho we came in so late. Love this bar to bits, definitely recommend visiting it.

Very rude staff, made us feel uncomfortable because we came in 2 hours before they close. Drinks tasted like soap, couldn’t finish them. Avoid at all costs.

Great staff and great cocktails. Got one made by Pip and one by Furkan. Both great! Definitely worth a waist, and will be back.

Before I came into The House Bar I was feeling rather mellow, but after a glass of wine and a chat with a bartender by the name of Marc, I felt way better. Great atmosphere in there, really professional bunch too. Cheered me right up

Love the cocktails here, great Cosmo my favourite. Prompt friendly service and used to be a table QR code which was even better. Lovely outside area for summer. Don’t drink to many cocktails as the staircase to the loo is mountainous!

Pool table is only saving grace. Bald head Jason bartender is a weird guy who is clearly upset about something. Careful！

Ended up being charged for 3 drinks when 2 were already paid for, and the bartender who made those drinks and saw it happen then refused to give me a refund, becoming rude and swearing about it, due to the card numbers being different on the receipt- which is a normal thing that happens when you use your phone to pay, for security reasons. Despite proof on my phone of paying, I got no refund and a rude bartender, which has ruined the feel of this bar for me.

This cocktail bar has a good menu of drinks, and a fair happy hour price. Some of the bar staff are attentive and all are very capable of making delicious drinks. However I was given an undrinkable mojito after having 3 delicious ones and when I went to return it waited patiently for 15 minutes whilst 3 people who were behind me in the queue got served. In the end I left the bar as the two staff were frankly sexist and inattentive. I won’t be returning.

A warm, cosy bar right in the city centre. Bartenders were skilled, funny and quick, they made us fantastic drinks all evening. Better yet the drinks were reasonably priced!

Booked out the Games room for my birthday. It was such a lovely atmosphere and the staff were very nice and accommodating!

Why are some bartenders so rude and arrogant?? We were treated as if our presence was an inconvenience. This used to be a renowned cocktail bar, now it’s not worth it. Go elsewhere!!

Amazing venue and brilliant staff! Hired the games room for my private party and the staff could not have been more accommodating. The cocktails were delicious and the booking process was simple, I will definitely be booking again in future.

Not quite the atmosphere of Raoul's but the music is often good, cocktails decent and the staff friendly and quick.

I am so glad I selected this venue for my very significant birthday party. The upstairs function area was just perfect for my 50 guests. We had our own bar and staff upstairs who were friendly , fun and efficiently looked after my guests producing a superb selection of cocktails and drinks. The management team were helpful and very well organised booking the food from the next door Chiangmai restaurant and facilitating delivery of balloons and sound equipment . The managers communicated with me promptly from my first enquiry right up until the day of the event . My guests and I will certainly recommend this venue and will definitely be regulars at the bar when we are in oxford

waaaaaaaaaay too expensive. also the crowd was rather noisy staff didn't control them because they contributed to the problem.

RUINEED THE NIGHT. Lady at bar with black had served 5 people before us, and left us waiting nearly an hour to get one drink whilst chatting to people at the bar, despite me politely asking. This was done on purpose. Lovely bar and staff, shame about the lady letting the side down completely. Will not return after being spoken to so rudely. Great vibe otherwise!

Deeply unprofessional, stood half an hour in front of the bar and could not get served while several people (some of them severely drunk and shouting) who arrived after me were. Messy, inefficient, unhygienic setup and procedures, sloppy drinks probing mixing. First and last time here.

It was quiet on the night I went but the staff were really friendly and made great cocktails. I had their whisky ones and would definitely recommend. As a solo punter it's nice to find friendly staff to chat with. There is also a pool table upstairs and nice little armchairs to relax in. I'll definitely be back next time I come to Oxford. Thanks!

Had a surprise birthday party for my son here yesterday. The venue is great! Very spacious, comfortable and lots of pretty sparkly lights. They also let us in early to set up. The staff are fantastic, especially Joe and Mark. Really friendly, helpful and make great cocktails. Perfect venue for a party

The bar had a lovely vibrancy to it as well as the service being excellent from Kelly and Anna in particular. However, all staff members were helpful and friendly which made for an enjoyable experience. The outdoor area is definitely a plus, with comfortable cushions and soft lighting. I enjoyed playing pool upstairs also. I will definitely come and visit again for happy hour!

Best cocktail bar in Oxford, bar none.

A great cosy bar with a surprisingly large and varied selection of drinks and cocktails. Tried lots of new ones, some hit, some didn't, but it was a very relaxed atmosphere where I felt comfortable trying new things. And the table service was pretty good so was happy to tip. I went off peak with friends casually after a meal and would go back for sure.

Cocktails are cheap and delicious. On weekends, happy hour is open until 9pm.

Poor quality staff would suggest anywhere apart from here, lived here many years so take my word for it! :)

Nice little bar that serves nice drinks and has comfortable seating and nice atmosphere. Sat upstairs and the large seats were really comfy. Drinks are nice and not too overpriced and their selection is great. Large glasses and friendly staff too. Music is slightly loud for a bar but it’s still a nice atmosphere

Went recently to this lovely cocktail bar, it's a little hidden gem! The drinks were a lot better then what we anticipated, which was a lovely surprise. Staff was very friendly and nice to us and specially sweet curly haired boy.

Needs to take it self a little more seriously if it wants to survive. Cocktails looked lifeless and if it were not for the pool table half of the party of 20 of us would of gone.

This cocktail bar is centrally located in Oxford. We visited on two separate occasions during our stay, both times at happy hour. We were indeed very happy with our Kir Royals for £6 each. There was always a good atmosphere in the bar and the service was very efficient and friendly.

Wonderful atmosphere, excellent selection of cocktails, quality ingredients and nice garnishes, and bartenders both skilled and friendly. Visiting Oxford on a chilly, rainy night, there were bars and pubs everywhere but I went into three and found I just could not stay. This one was my last attempt and it was perfect, just what I was looking for! Great happy hour specials as well. No regrets.

Always a great place for cocktails. Delicious drinks, friendly bartenders, great vibe and an all-round top notch bar.

You can find The House tucked down an alley off Oxford’s main drag. As a bar it’s very Oxford and a great place to visit. It has both inside and outside seating and provides a good choice of reasonably priced cocktails and G&Ts. Service is great and friendly. Drinks are good. It seems to appeal to a wide group of people, which is also good! Worth a visit if you are a local and looking for a new bar or travelling and out in town.

Stumbled across this great bar when looking for a hot chocolate and a nightcap...you can sit outside and just soak up the unique Oxford atmosphere ... staff were helpful and efficient ... thank you

Good cocktails but, as always with cocktails, overpriced.

Great selection of cocktails and a very generous happy hour. Sister bar to The Duke of Cambridge on Little Clarendon Street but does not have beer on tap, so whilst you can get a house beer on happy hour, it's a bottle oh Heineken rather than two thirds of draught beer. My favourite cocktail here is Bloody Mary, and they do a bloody good one at that!

I have been to House twice recently -- both times for friends' 50th birthday parties. The upstairs room is great for this: you can book it and they will reserve the room for you and the excellent PA is ideal for both live DJs and recorded sound. The staff are all lovely and somehow manage to serve you quickly when there is a huge crowd at the bar. The range of drinks is impressive and although a little more expensive than a pub all tastes are catered for (from real ale drinkers to cocktail lovers). There is an alcove at one end (which someone has taken a picture of here ^^^ ), with seating which is a good place to go for a quiet chat with mates which is insulated sonically from the rest of the room which is nice.

It was our daughters 21st. She booked The House. What a great choice!!! We had people coming from all over the country. Location - excellent. Staff - excellent. Atmosphere - excellent. All in all an excellent night. Special mention to the bar staff that got stuck in and were as much a part of the party as the rest of us. Thank you very much.

I LOVE this cocktail bar! I have been to The House quite a few times now and have always been impressed. The drinks are delicious (I’ve basically tried them all), the staff are friendly and the drinks are really well priced. I highly recommend having a drink or two with a group of friends at happy hour. There is seating inside and outside. I will definitely be going here again and again.
