Really lovely, staff were very friendly and our food was good too, started to get really busy just as we were leaving…..always a good sign

We recently visited the area for a short break. The horseshoe was our ' local' and we were really pleased it was. Our first visit was just for drinks, the beer garden was fab with a play area that kept the kids entertained. We returned on another evening for a meal. We were really impressed. We originally thought it would be cheap and cheerful standard pub food. However, what we got was fab. All the food was made to a high standard, really tasty homemade food.

I venture to The Horseshoe Inn frequently as work & family life permit. The service is 1st class, the beverages both alcoholic & of barista quality are served with dedication & quality. I have dined frequently & never been disappointed with any meal presented to me as the venue prides itself on its service & standards.

Paid a first visit for lunch yesterday and made most welcome. Two of the party are vegan and found a few main course options plus we were told some of the vegetarian meals could be adapted to vegan. The aubergine dish was selected. One sweet (cheesecake) was vegan. The quality of all was good.

Food was really nice and generous portions. The price was excellent, I will dine there again.

Nice staff, nice food. The beer garden has access to ponies and even a little batch of chickens.

The lunchtime offer is amazing. I had a massive veggie lasagne, salad and chips followed by cheesecake and ice cream for £15!......brilliant x

Excellent food and great service

Party of 15 for a birthday. Bar man was miserable and had no customer service skills. 2 meals missed off order which meant they ate after everyone else had finished. No warmth in service. The waiter and waitress tried their best in a poor organised restaurant. The food was good,no great. Would not go again.

Service great, but served frozen veg, still frozen, had a refund

We were having Mother’s Day family lunch. On arriving I went to the bar to order drinks. The barman was rude and inattentive and looked annoyed. He took exception with one of the waiting staff by rudely telling her to inform people that it’s table ordering. Aimed at myself obviously. I didn’t enter into a dispute with this man due to the fact I was with my grandchildren. Having finished our food which was of a good standard we went to pay our bill which was over £160. The Manager/Owner took our payment without acknowledging us, he was too busy barking orders unprofessionally to the waiting staff. Didn’t ask if we’d enjoyed the meal or even thank us. This to me is a failure in basic courtesy. I recommend he considers investing in hospitality and customer service training for himself and his senior staff. We won’t be revisiting this venue again.

Woeful service over hour and half wait for food. Food aveage

Having eaten here previously on several occasions I was fairly confident of a good meal experience for my family and friends on Mother's Day. How wrong could I be! It took over 75 minutes for our meal to be served. The food was OK but nothing special and was at a specially higher price for the special day! I was embarrassed that I had chosen this place to eat. On leaving I complained to the manager about the long wait and his excuse was that one of the dishes took 20 minutes to cook - when I pointed out that that was no excuse for the 75 minute wait he had no further comment but clearly did not care. I left saying that I would not be frequenting the Horseshoe Inn again. If there was a 0 star rating then I would have given that.

Attended for mother's day meal, having had pleasant meals in the past. Service was very poor with over an hour for food to be presented. Waiting staff were friendly and apologetic in contrast to the manager who appeared hostile to both staff and customers. A shame as the food was well cooked, if not presented in a somewhat slapdash manner (inconsistent plating and desert portion sizes) Protestations of the food being freshly prepared would have carried more weight had the menu not been limited for the day and prices ramped up. Poor management has resulted in future boycotting of this previously favoured establishment.

They are taking bookings for Christmas here and after today it would be a good bet to place your order now so you eat on Dec 25th. Very long wait for food. Terrible service, staff not trained how to welcome guests and as for the manager !! Tried to charge us all for two-course when myself and Mum had only one as we couldn't be bothered to wait for a sweet, was asked if we wanted see the dessert menu then ended up fetching the thing myself !! Men's toilets also out of order. Feel sorry for all those Mum's who were looking forward to a lovely afternoon out only to be let down by a Manager who obviously has no idea how to run a pub or have any control over his staff.

We came tonight for a Mother’s Day meal party of 7 very disappointed to say the least very under staffed meal took 1h 20m to arrive and 4 of the meals were the Sunday roast which was served with 1 thin slice of meat which is appalling! Meals were served to our table which were not meant to be for our table which salt and pepper were applied before staff took them away to another table! Customer service of this establishment is shocking we will not be returning and by the judge of it speaking to tables around us they won’t be either.. a ruined Mother’s Day!!!

Lovely sunday lunch here today , great service from all members of staff definitely reccomend , will definitely return, and the desserts were fantastic , especially the homemade lemon cheesecake 😀 😋 fantastic !!

Second time we have had Christmas dinner here after moving to Alsager. We pass several pubs to get to this one and dine regularly. Excellent fresh food, great service and always a good atmosphere. Can’t wait to visit again. Well done to all involved.

We really enjoyed our Christmas lunch at the Horseshoe Inn. The food was excellent and of going quality and presentation. Staff courteous and polite and helpful. We have rebooked today for New Year dinner and dancing. Looking forward to it.

The food was OK but the service unbelievably slow. Waiting 2 hours for a main course which had been preordered.

Went to the horse shoe today (17 December)we arrived at 2.50 our meal was booked for 3.pm we ordered our drinks. They came quickly. We then ordered our food . One hour and 10 minutes later 3 meals arrived. The fourth one I had to ask for which arrived 10 minutes after . Very disappointing two slices of ham very thinly cut, a small portion of frozen vegetables (not fresh) 3 roast potatoes which were dry . We travelled up from Wales to have a meal with family. Very very disappointing.

The restaurant area was comfortable and warm. The service was excellent, and the food was tasty.

Nice pub. Friendly. Welcoming. Food is overpriced for what it is. Will go back again.... But not in any rush.

Visited on a Saturday evening, and to our suprise the large restaurant was empty except one other table. Luckily we were in a group so the atmosphere didn't feel too bad. Drinks choices were good, however food was incorrect when bought out, and was asked whether we'd just eat it anyway, which when there was only one other table was a suprise. The food was ok, but for the price not the best meal I've had. The young waitresses were lovely and friendly, as was the bar man.

Went with family yesterday for a birthday meal. The owner took our order but was very miserable when doing so. I asked for a couple of chips instead of my salad and was rudely told no changes to what was on the menu. He continued to take the order with absolutely no customer service skills or politeness whatsoever. When the food came he had missed 3 meals off the order and sent a young waitress to apologise for his mistake. We ordered seperate chips as we weren't allowed to make amendments to the plate, wish I'd not bothered they were disgusting and mostly raw! Also there was a small child going in and out of the kitchen which is not safe or hygienic where food is being prepared.

Food is lovely I will definitely come back again

We went for Sunday Lunch with friends from the USA. We went with them to the Horseshoe last year & decided to go again as we enjoyed two much & we weren't disappointed. Two of us had Roast Beef & the other two Roast Turkey. The food was hot & delicious, the staff were friendly & efficient & the atmosphere was pleasant. Highly recommended. 🙂

Had my sons birthday meal there and was fantastic. Food was brilliant and they were very helpful setting the table up with balloons and banners. Definitely recommend and we'll definitely be returning

Went for Sunday dinner. Really impressed with the food - tasty, hot and good portion sizes. Also very reasonable priced. Staff were helpful and friendly. Clean toilets. I would recommend to anyone.

Thought I would give this place a try this evening after being recommended by a work colleague. we had been to Chester for the day and it was late when we arrived at around 9:00 . The place was quite for a Saturday evening so we were not sure if they would still be surviving food. We asked the waitress who polite replied that it would be fine if we were quick. Which was absolutely great for us we were both really hungry. My husband went to the bar for drinks all the staff were friendly and the service was amazing we did not have to wait long for the food to arrive the food was good and good portion sizes they even asked us if we would like desert. We will definitely be returning .

Been meaning to go here to eat for a while. Food was at a very high standard and the portion sizes were very generous. Good prices too. Less than 50 pounds for 4 drinks, 2 main meals (one off the specials board £16.95) and one side of home cooked chips

Good food good friendly service

Had rybeye steak which was so tuff I couldn't eat it, complaint made to the waitress and sat at the table for a further 10 minutes with no response from anyone and we're not really interested when compliant made again to the owner before settling the bill. So disappointed 😡 Needless to say we won't be returning.

Really friendly and helpful staff

We did enjoy our meal here. The people who had the salmon said it was very good and so was the scampi, although the chips were a bit soggy. The service was quick and friendly.

The best option for food and drink to the North of Alsager. Reliable and consistent, never quiet and rarely too busy. Popular with locals. Simple but well planned menu. Some drinks prices high. Plentyful parking.

Visited here for Father’s Day with my family and my dad was taken poorly whilst eating his meal, the staff were absolutely fantastic and so helpful when my dad wasn’t very well. We couldn’t thank the staff enough for the help they gave us. Will definitely return so my dad can enjoy the meal without leaving half! The food was lovely too! Thank you!

Lovely food, friendly atmosphere

Huge venue with plenty of indoor seating and lots of outside space. Could do with a little updating. The kids play equipment is all marked with age ranges which is really odd and something I've never seen anywhere else before. My pint of Birra Morettibtasted a bit off so we only stayed for one drink but the others in our party were happy with their drinks.

Good meal. Friendly staff. Not cheap. Lots of space.

AN AWFUL & EMBARRASSING EXPERIENCE Don’t even bother…terrible service, virtually just cursory apologies from staff…already 1hour15 minutes waiting for food. Then only two meals out of eight arrived at table now waiting more than 5 minutes for next meals to arrive and so far no food for youngest child who by this time was extremely hungry & fractious. Vegetarian meal for one of our party was pretty poor verging on terrible, both taste and presentation. I blame much of the problems here on this occasion on the management/owners who simply failed to plan failed to recognise their maximum capacity and act accordingly and failed to maintain their standards. Instead their argument was they didn’t expect to be so busy. However instead of saying NO to further arriving unbooked customers, their greed compromised their ability to match expectations to the resources they had available. Staff were unnecessarily stressed, kitchens were over stretched, quality of food and service declined. I have to admit I ate there two weeks ago to check out the place for an important family gathering we then booked for this weekend gone and was comfortably satisfied it would meet expectations. At that time they not so busy. How wrong I was…it was embarrassing and uncomfortable for front of house staff as well as ourselves who had to chase up or complain no less than four times before eventually speaking to the owner at point of departure and paying the bill. Over all we spent £194 in their establishment. The initial order food bill was £139.80 of which after complaint was reduced by £20 to £120. Had service been better we would probably all have ordered deserts. As it was all we wanted to do is eat and leave. Children needed to go to bed and family guests had travelled from Surrey.

Expensive drinks with miserable staff.

We called at the Horseshoe Inn for a Sunday lunch last week. A very pleasant establishment with plenty of car parking. A good range of beers and wines and a good selection of food. Swift service from very polite efficient and friendly staff. The food was tasty and hot. Only criticism would be that the mixed veg was soggy. Good value meals.

Here once more at The Horseshoe Inn and yet again thoroughly enjoyed it, I can't praise the place enough I've never been disappointed in all the times I've visited. Well only when they got rid of the ponies from the field, but that's another story lol.... The service is good and staff are lovely, the food is beautiful - the cook works magic in that kitchen, credit to them it looks and tastes great. The Venison with Stilton cheese sauce, is awesome and your Apple crumble with ice cream gorgeous, thankyou.... A really nice establishment where you feel relaxed, the prices are worth every penny and I would recommend, even say it's the best place to dine for many a mile. Keep up the good work guys ♥️

We recently went for Sunday Lunch. The pub was busy, service was quick. The main meal was underwhelming, quite bland and not very warm. We were asked if we wanted any sauces and asked for horseradish as we had beef. We were surprised that the waitress came back with a small dish covered by cling film, she actually spooned the sauce onto the plates and then took it away, we found this very odd, it just felt like we were rationed. We were also very disappointed that one of the party was served lunch on a plate with a large chip out of, this was mentioned to the waitress but it seemed to fall on deaf ears. On the plus side the deserts were delicious and very good portions.

We went on a Saturday lunchtime, there were eight in our party. The food was served quickly it was good and hot and delicious. We had a range of different dishes between us and everything looked, smelled and tasted wonderful. The pub is really nice and has a great outdoor area, although it was too cold for us to use on this visit. Friendly staff. We will definitely be back.

Overpriced for what we ate limited menu due to time of year festives

We seemed to have a long wait, 4 adults and 2 children, we'd asked for the children's meals to come out first as they were hungry, the staff seemed to be waiting for the children to finish before bringing out the adult's food when we really wanted them all together but priority given to the children, possibly just a communication problem. It was our first visit, the food was good and I would certainly go again. Thank you.

Local pub restaurant in a rural location. Good choice of lunchtime specials and beers.

Had lovely Sunday dinner. Beef was tender and accompaniments all cooked nicely. Star was the roast carrots. Staff friendly and quick service.

Prompt service and friendly staff. Didn't book but no problem although only 6.30pm perhaps busier later. As expected we think there has been a rise in food prices on the menu.

Avoid unless you want to be angry. Waiting staff are really rude. Man and young girl serving us were whispering to themselves as I was ordering my very simple cider in black and lemonade saying “why are they ordering such ridiculous drinks”. We got our food and it was essentially thrown onto our table whilst the girl stood over us waiting to get the sauces back. It’s a huge shame because the food itself was nice but the waiting staff need a lesson in human interaction, never mind customer service.

Four of us ate here today. I had chicken pie, which was ok. The chips I found to be lacking in flavour and not a lover of puff pastry. My husband had gammon which he said was a bit on the salty side. All in all, an ok meal. But nothing to rave over

Food was cheaply made again, even the chips were bland and not cooked right. The guy behind the bar is so miserable. It’s a shame this place use to be a great atmosphere with great food. Waste of money.

Disappointing meal. Lasagne totally inebile. Wasn't offered a bill reduction for the uneaten meal but didn't want to complain too vociferously as it was a family event and didn't want to ruin the atmosphere.

Called tonight 29.06.2022 for a drink with some running ladies, sadly the chap behind the bar...was not at all friendly and did not make us feel welcome at all. Maybe some additional training in customer service is required?

Four of us been here tonight. I had the burger. Very nice. 3 rib eye steaks. All eaten. Sweets too. Good menu and prices fair. They do a party night menu. 3 courses for 20.00 so will book that next time. Caters well for GF. Very spacious pub too.
