Popped in here whilst in Cardiff visiting family and it was very nice! Quaint little place lovely food & friendly service. Very good value and delicious tasty food. Highly recommended for a quick low key meal. Yum 😋

A hidden gem only a few minutes from Culverhouse X. Friendly and helpful staff, decent selection of beers and good food.

Really nice weather in a Sunday and passed the pub on a walking trail. Looked closed, until we saw some people drinking in the park opposite. Went and had a reasonably priced beer, by a reasonable barmaid. Nice location. I didn't have food so I couldn't comment on that. Surprisingly quiet for a Sunday afternoon but overall ok

Great food at a good fair price

We were staying local, so booked a table to watch one of the 6 nations games. Big screen for the match. Food was good and loads of it for a good price. Bit out of the way but worth a visit

Sorry but came today for lunch, we won’t be back in a hurry!!!! The food has gone down hill since we were last there. Hunter’s chicken was awful no sauce and the chips were frozen, lasagne looked like it had just been slapped on the plate!!!!!! Not impressed at all. I think you need to change your chef.

It's a very lovely place, a very isolated area which is good for some people.

Lovely pint and lovely food can't fault it. Not a chin so does decent food. And has a park opposite for my daughter who loves it there.

We asked the lovely bar girl for a non-alcoholic drink. As she was new in the role, she politely asked one of the owners present what non-alcoholic drinks they had. She had to ask three times as she was ignored. The owner then snapped and said "tell the customer they're in a f*cking pub", in front of us! This is the last time we will be returning, as the atmosphere is cold, owners miserable and there are signs everywhere stating pub rules, and that you're being watched and listened too by their cameras at all times. So, overall, a very unwelcoming experience.

Wonderful time here. Food was lovely, waiting staff was amazing, forgot his name, but was an absolute perfect gentleman.

We had a carvery beef was tastless gravy runny and veg cold on serving not the best won't be here again

Interesting name but I didn't see any horse nor met the Jockey :P This is a nice place to chill - alone, with friends and family. There is a good variety of food and drinks. I'd recommend it if you want a different space to chill, though not as picturesque for a tourist.

Have previously eaten here we were so looking forward for the Mother's Day family meal we had booked here ...However we all were so disappointed, we had opted for Mother's Day menu and the meat wasnt too great and vegetables very wet ! Perhaps we should've chosen from the Pub Menu

Simple, real pub. Good honest food, spot on for an easy tasty lunch and sneaky pint.

Food quality has decreased but it is still a nice venue. After being a customer for a few years and hosting birthday treats etc I found our meals to be substantially smaller. The meat thinner, and fillings less. Perhaps a choice of burger was wrong as usually I go for steak etc. I will return even if only for the ambience and a drink.

Lovely warm friendly atmosphere, serving excellent food. I'm a big fan of their beef curry, really succulent prices of meat in a tasty, medium hot sauce packed full cinnamon and other spice flavours 😁 Very dog friendly, one of my favourite Cardiff area pubs.

Went here on a Saturday night at 7.50 pm for food and a few drinks. Only 2 young members if staff working. Was told kitchen had closed. After sitting outside fir 10 minutes we were told they were closing so just drink up and leave our glasses on the tables! They then just locked uo and drove off, leaving us to finish our drinks only 2 people sat in the garden.

We have not been to horse & jockey for quite a few years now but now we have move back to Cardiff we will be going there more often Love the place so warm and welcoming and Friendly staff also. We had a lovely meal to what great service a lovely place. Also dog friendly love it.

Had my dads 90th birthday party there(7-10-19, we had 21 people booked in, What a fantastic evening we all had. The food was fantastic and staff we’re amazing and the locals we’re friendly as well 100% recommend Been back there since, very rude landlady food terrible -5 stars Had the same message’s from other people as well WILL NOT RETURN

We only popped in for an hour, taking my Cousin who was visiting Cardiff, we ended up staying for four hours. What a cosy, comfortable, pub and the Landlady was amazing - as was the barlady - both very welcoming and interesting to talk to. The service was amazing, nothing was too much trouble. If I hadn't cooked dinner already we would have stayed and had food too. Definitely on my Cousin's calendar for a return visit.

What a fantastic little pub. Went with our children and German Shepherd on Saturday evening. Greeted with water for the dog straight away. Food was delicious, staff were amazing. Nice to go out and be treated how you should be. Such a relaxed atmosphere. Thanks so much to Heather and Molly, who couldn't do enough for myself and my family. Well be back. Cheers Gav.

I want to give 5 stars to Molly. What a lovely young girl. So polite and helpful, nothing is too much. As for the pub it's self, wonderful. Food is delicious, staff are wonderful. Heather is so accommodating. Lively little pub.

What a little gem this place is, tucked away up a side lane in a small village. Staff friendly and polite, food was very good 👍 worth a visit even if its for a pint. They also have corona on draft !!

If I could give less than one star I would. Called in for a quick drink with a large party to a very quiet pub in a quiet area. We’ve just moved to the area. We wanted to support local business but were immediately greeted by an incredibly rude officious Australian or New Zealand hostess. After five separate rude exchanges and being told off and shouted at plus much muttering by staff - we gave up. Zero customer service. We were trying to follow their complicated requirements but we had not been there before. Reallly not the warm friendly welcome we were expecting and we won’t return. They lost out on quite a bit of money as decent size party. Their loss.

Their homemade hand cut chips were probably the best we've had. Establishment has plentiful seating and was fully covid compliant. Customer service was excellent! Definitely visiting again soon.

Visitamos un domingo a la hora del almuerzo y pedimos del menú principal. Aunque el menú es reducido, había algo para complacer a todos. La bienvenida que recibimos fue cálida y cortés. Excelentes medidas de seguridad implementadas con respecto a covid. La comida era muy buena, caliente y porciones de buen tamaño. No tuvimos ninguna queja y volveremos, oh, y la tarta de queso de chocolate blanco es para morirse

Visitamos, sin reserva, para el almuerzo. Recibido por una dama grosera en el estacionamiento, ladrándonos. Comprenda los requisitos de COVID, pero se esperaría un enfoque cortés y razonado. En resumen, como no habíamos reservado, no pudimos pedir comida, así que nos fuimos.Sorprendido ya que el pub parecía estar lejos de estar lleno y había mesas sin reserva afuera que nos convenían.Fui a ellos Wenvoe Arms y disfruté, sin reserva, del almuerzo. Muy bien organizado y concurrido, pero muy acogedor.Nunca más cruzará el umbral de Horse and Jockey.

Absolutely shocking customer service have never been spoken to so badly in my life like I was today was ringing to see if table available and the way the lady spoke was appalling do not recommend

What a gorgeous little pub, a little off the beaten track and tucked away but a real gem nonetheless . Lovely welcome from the staff, table service in place and advisable to book if you want to sit inside, good menu available also and COVID measures in place

La comida estaba bien, pero una pequeña variedad de comida y se habían quedado sin 2 opciones de entrada. Teníamos un menú de papel para compartir entre 6 personas. . . Había una lista de reglas que teníamos que seguir por razones de seguridad que se habrían cumplido si el personal tuviera el ppe activado pero no lo hicieron. . . . sin máscaras ni guantes impactantes! ! Los asientos estaban pegajosos, lo que me hizo sentir sucia e incómoda. Luego nos dijeron que teníamos que estar callados mientras estábamos allí disfrutando de un encuentro con nuestros amigos. Puedo decir felizmente que nunca volvería a poner un pie allí, no lo recomendaría

Visité aquí para almorzar. Amigo contactado que vive cerca para encontrarnos. Nos recibió una mujer muy abrupta de blanco que nos gritó órdenes. El pub se ha tomado muy en serio a Covid y ha tomado medidas sensatas, que es lo único bueno que puedo decir. Mi amiga se había adelantado para decir que le gustaría unirse a nosotros. Llegó y se sentó con nosotros, pero le dijeron que se moviera y esperara, eso es justo. Sin embargo, la mujer de blanco procedió a gritarle groseramente mientras el jardín de la cerveza miraba. Mi amiga tiene 8 meses de embarazo y su hijo de dos años se portó bien con ella - la mujer procedió a ladrar órdenes y señalar a su pequeña niña "no puede correr, tiene que sentarse en todo momento", lo cual haría hacer. Entiendo las precauciones, pero no tienen que aplicarse de manera tan agresiva. Mi pobre amiga estaba avergonzada, molesta y confundida por lo que se suponía que debía hacer. Así que se fue llorando. Nos sentimos fatal, pero habíamos empezado a tomar nuestras bebidas y habíamos hecho nuestro pedido o nos hubiéramos ido. La comida era bastante mala: el queso de brócoli de 3 quesos era un horneado de pasta acuosa y sin sabor, las patatas fritas eran horribles y el pan de ajo poco cocido. Comimos rápido solo para salir de allí, ¡nunca más!

¡Este pequeño pub en medio de la nada fue un gran descubrimiento! Reservamos unos días antes de nuestra visita debido a covid - 19 con un depósito de 5 por persona por teléfono al momento de la reserva. Aunque no había un menú completo disponible, había una buena opción (aparte de las opciones vegetarianas). La lasaña de verduras era más queso que cualquier otra cosa, así que un poco decepcionante, pero el resto de la comida era excelente. La elección del pudín era buena y a todos nos encantaron (también porciones generosas). El buen covid configurado aparte del sistema / salida unidireccional no fue tan bueno como podría ser (en cuanto a la señalización), por lo que algunas personas fueron regañadas (lo resolvimos y leímos las reglas). Recomendaría ir de nuevo si en la zona de nuevo.

Tucked out if the way, the pub has a country feel. Nice welcome and good food if you desire. It's what pubs used to be like before all the big breweries started to make pubs look so alike where ever you go in the UK

Lovely little pub, however the food was awful, chips, garlic bread & chocolate brownie were all burnt. The cajun chicken had no flavour. The landlady was rude abrasive & unprofessional from the start to the end and made the whole party including children to feel unwelcome, table was booked for 8pm upon arrival was told the kitchen closes at 830 so whole meal was rushed even though it was booked well in advance for a family meal of over 20 guests.

Having already visited this place and loving every mouthful, we had high hopes for Christmas lunch. We recommended this place to our friends. However, this was a total let down.Lack of taste and texture and the desserts were small portions.Please visit this place for the normal menu, sadly, they need to work on the Christmas lunch.

Love this pub - lovely"old" ambience , warm & friendly. Semi rural setting. Also allows dogs, so must be a good place. Have had a few meals & never been disappointed. Prices are a decent average. Always manage to get parking.

A nice welcome coming into the pub by all the staff..food served to 8.30, so we had 15 mins to decide, long enough, nice pub food, hot, great chips! And im not a chip lover, they were good. Nice atmosphere, reasonable priced.. will go again..

Midweek evening meal. Came across this place by mistake, hidden up a country lane. Wasn't disappointed, great home cooked food and well priced. Looking forwards to trying Sunday lunch!

Staying outside Cardiff for a couple of nights. Found this pub. Good basic pub food, varied menu. Food was piping hot. Friendly staff.

Took mum there today for her birthday, with our rather large ridgeback dog. From the moment we walked in, we felt at home, they were amazing there in every way, meals were out of this world. Not far off the main road but feels like your way out in the country, amazing surroundings and the atmosphere was just perfect. This place is a true gem. Thankyou both for an amazing day, will see you again soon. 😊

Very poor customer service - We had good hopes about this quite pub in the country side, however was extremely disappointed with our experience.

Se detuvo para su noche de curry. Fuimos un poco cautelosos porque solo tienen una clasificación de higiene de 3/5. La mesa estaba pegajosa, así que era genial si te gustaba una mesa pegajosa. El trato fue de 5 por un curry. Pedimos la mitad y la mitad, las papas fritas y el arroz estaban bien, pero el curry no estaba a favor pero no iba a quejarse por solo 5. Pedí una copa de vino y una cerveza solo para que me cobraran 31 y se les dijera que el curry de vegetales no estaba incluido en el trato de curry del martes por la noche. Mala forma y nos impide volver cualquier otra noche esta semana.

A pesar de los pasos hacia el pub, que es difícil para una persona con discapacidad, el pub me pareció pintoresco, pero no tenía mucha variedad en las bebidas alcohólicas. La oferta de comida era buena y sabrosa, pero ¿qué está pasando con las fichas? No impresionó muy duro. Volvería de nuevo, pero no por un tiempo. El personal era muy servicial pero no estaba contento con las cabezas de animales en la pared tampoco

Hidden gem. Great service and good place to walk to /from. The food looked great although I didn't eat this time. Staff were super friendly. Its also dog friendly with water bowl treats and 🐶 ice-cream (paid)
