The Horse and Groom Harvester in Bracknell Forest

After hearing a honest recommendation from my aunt about how good it was nowadays I decided to trust her instinct after having a bad experience in the past. She was right. The meals are of good quality and tasty. The staff nowadays are nicer than they were in the past. Seemed to want to chat and are very friendly talking to you as if you were friends with them. Table service was faster which was good. Rolls were fresher. They went well with the butter as it was so creamy. I recommend the halloumi kebabs. liked having the pitta bread that came with it. Good value for money too. Honestly, this has been very nice for us. Thanks to the team and my auntie. She came with us by the way.

April 1st We popped in on the off chance, the restaurant seemed very busy but we were still offered a table to eat. The waiting staff were great and the salad cart was well stocked up. We could see the chef's were under a lot of pressure and looked very over worked but it was good to see them battling though a busy shift still laughing and joking with each other. The food was delicious and very well presented. Hats off to all the staff for making another day memorable.

Normally a big fan of this Harvester however, it has started to go down hill. General cleanliness was below it's usual standards. Chefs were not following basic hygiene rules in the kitchen, lots of wiping their brows then handling food 🤢. Service was really slow, we watched our food on the hot plate for 15 minutes, then the waiter couldn't handle the plates as they were too hot. Waiting staff were non existent, I think they had 2 for the whole restaurant and the manager wasn't helping. When our food arrived we had 2 ants appear on our table. We decided not to stay for pudding despite the generous offer of a new table to eat our puddings on, due to the ants. We won't be returning anytime soon, which is a massive shame.

Excellent restaurant came here with my family and really enjoyed the food, the table service by Broady and Delilah was excellent very polite and professional. James in the kitchen the food was top class i appreciate it. Thank you for making the experience excellent once again.

What on earth has happened to this place, food inedible, hair found in food, unsafe environment (someone fell over a broken doorknob) is dark and dingy. Cutlery was dirty, bread was stale, salad was old, just not a nice place to be at all.

I've lost count of the number of times my friends and I meet here for lunch. (Once a month for the past 10+ years....) Friendly, attentive staff, prompt service and clean. Absolutely recommended.

Have to post a review tonight as we were so impressed by this place today - we popped in with our 3 year old as we were in the area, and are so glad we did. We got the warmest welcome from all the staff- from the manager who greeted us at reception, Shannon our waitress to the member of staff who brought our drinks over - all were so warm and friendly, and seemed genuinely as if they wanted to be there. The food was delicious - my partner is still raving about the blue cheese burger several hours later, pork belly was lovely and succulent, and even the child portion of tomato pasta looked freshly made and appetising. Thanks to staff for making our impromptu lunch out so memorable- we will definitely be back!

The tiniest portion of battered fish I have ever been served . Not one but 2 orders , I have seen much much more served as orders from a childs menu , how you have the nerve to serve what you did I have no idea , 16 garden peas served on mine ,only 13 garden peas on the other order and chips serving very sparse. Wasnt even pleasant to eat wet soggy fish . Was so small was it gold fish or stickle back rather than cod ?

Despite the online booking saying they were full, the staff went out of their way to squeeze us in. As usual they were all fab. The food was great and the service spot on. Diane was our waitress and was brilliant:)

This is one of my and my daughters favourite places to eat… mainly because of the warm welcome we always get from the staff, especially Diane, who always goes above and beyond to make our experience the best it can be. The food was delicious and our server (Diane) must be the best in the business. It was clearly a busy night for her but she did a fantastic job of making sure that our table, and all the other tables were catered for.

Getting back to the office has been a new experience and it's nice to be able to get back to a routine of bites to eat with friends and colleagues at lunch. Food was great and service with a smile (behind a face mask) by Diane was a welcome break. All within the lunch hour, now to head back to the office and try and stay awake from all the food.

Firstly, this review is NOT about the service my friend and I had, it’s about the standard of food. This is the first time we’ve been out together for a couple of years because of COVID. Like the majority of people it’s not something that has been high on the list of priorities. So this was a semi special occasion. I’d booked the table so on arrival at 7pm we were greeted and seated fairly promptly. We were given 2 menus. The main menu and a set menu. We decided to choose from the set 3 course menu at £16.99 because it worked out at good value. One word of warning though, if you have Meerkat Meals for Harvester for 25% off then it is not applicable to the set 2 or 3 course options. The salad bar option is still available but you are not permitted to serve yourself this has to be done by the waiter/waitress. This is perfectly fine in my eyes and our waitress Tracey was excellent and served us well. Our starters came up while we were tucking into our salads and these were very good. Then the main course came up which was where the experience became poor. Both of us ordered The Dirty Bird. Which was “supposed” to be southern fried chicken breast fillets, bacon, crispy onion rings, hash brown, topped with cheese sauce in a brioche bun with chips. Well, the chicken fillets did not have any taste of southern fried and they were very dry and “claggy”. The breadcrumbs were over-cooked and the chicken was tasteless. To my palette they were inedible. There were at least 6 of them in the bun. The hash brown was very greasy as were the onion rings. The chips were the best thing on the plate. I did bring this to the waitress’s attention and she did ask whether she could get us something else but this we declined. We had our deserts. I had the treacle sponge with ice cream which was very yummy. My friend had the Belgian Chocolate brownie which she enjoyed. To sum up our experience, as I titled this review, it was mixed. Had we chosen something else off the menu maybe the experience would have been completely different and I would be giving it 5 stars but the main course completely let us down. Our waitress Tracey was superb and she went out of her way to report the problem to the duty manager. They knocked the cost of the mains off the bill and didn’t charge for our drinks or the coffee my friend had. The main thing though was that we were “out, out” as we’re don’t get to do it often. Again I would like to thank Tracey for looking after us.

Popped into our local Harvester after trick or treating tonight and we've had a great experience. Nice drinks and very tasty food. The beef classic burger with chesse and bacon was to die for and the chips actually tasted like real chips. Topped off with a Sundae best waffle which was amazing. Looked after by Ash who had entered into the Halloween spirit with her face painted brilliantly! All in all we'll be back soon. Thanks all especially Ash.

Booked in on a Saturday afternoon. Friendly welcome, great customer service from our waiter. Variety of dishes all cooked well, would recommend no chicken stack for veggies, delicious. Will definitely be visiting again.

We had a family at the Harvester last night, the food was good and the service was excellent, We haven't eaten at the Harvester for a couple of years due to Covid, the staff was wearing masks and our server dished up the salad of our choice. Great evening. Our group had masks on to the table and our server Diane made us feel really welcome. We will be back soon.

Awful from start to finish and if it hadn’t been so late and had my 6 year old I’d have given up at the first hurdle. Walked in at 8pm to be told there was no tables and we’d have to wait until 9, the lady on the door was so rude and only offered us a table in the bar when I said we wouldn’t wait. Tried to find a table in the bar but they were all dirty and so we had to settle for a table right next to the toilets. I ordered the food and was told we would be taken to the salad bar. When a better table became free we moved and asked for the table to be cleared and cleaned, it was half cleared and not cleaned, I assume we’d been forgotten about. One of the bar staff then asked us if we’d been taken up to the salad bar and when I said no, she tutted and finally took us up. When we’d finished our salad, our food came out which was absolutely awful. Every single meal out of the 3 was cold, my sons pasta sauce had congealed and my gravy type sauce for the chips was stone cold. I looked around to ask for my sons meal to be warmed up but there was no one around so we just left. I’m not a big fan of harvester anyway but after a long day at LEGOLAND we wanted something quick and not overly expensive. I wish I’d spent a bit more and had a good meal. I will never go to another harvester again after this experience.

Visited the Horse & Groom this evening for a family meal. The food was excellent but what impressed us more was the lovely waitress Diane. She was very helpful and her personality shone through. It was nice to be served by someone so nice. Will definitely be coming back soon. Thankyou Diane.

Very underwhelming first visit. Food was very poor and I ended up leaving most of it. Only plus of the evening was that the staff were friendly.

Be warned the car park is run by ECP. Failure to enter your registration number on the IPad in the Harvester will result in an £85 fine for the car owner.We stopped at the Horse & Groom recently for a coffee and comfort break en route to Kent, the bar staff failed to draw our attention to the Ipad and explain the necessity to enter our car registration number even though there were no other customers in the bar at the time.As a consequence we have been fined £85 by ECP for our 30 minutes visit to this pub!!.

Came here for breakfast in September. Service amazing, so friendly and all staff were so good with my little one. Unfortunately my breakfast was not very nice, I could not eat it as it was cold and had a strange taste to it. I didn’t make a fuss, but when the plates were collected I was asked if it was ok so I explained I didn’t enjoy it. Waitress was apologetic but I was still charged for it. Although I did not make a huge fuss or complaint it would have been nice to have a small gesture on the bill as I did not eat it. I spent £10 to drink a cup of refillable coffee.

Went for breakfast after an email advert. Checked online to see if was open at 9.45 on Thursday and it was. Went to the restaurant and it was closed. Rang the phone, no answer. Not impressed, won't be back.

A group of 6 of us went out to celebrate a birthday and we had a beyond wonderful time! Food was quick to come out and was delicious when it did. Chris and Dianne served us all evening and, despite both being completely rushed off of their feet, were absolutely lovely and incredibly attentive. My only complaint would be that the two really would have benefitted from the help of an extra staff member as it seemed like they didn’t stop moving all night! Despite that, it was a fantastic evening and we’ll definitely be back again soon. Thank you! :)

We booked lunch online for 12.15 and requested an outside table for 3 if possible. We also said that if there was no table available outside we would like a socially distanced table inside. When we arrived they were sadly not serving outside but had made a socially distanced table available for us. There was plenty of hand sanitizer throughout and our waitress Rhian wore a mask throughout our visit. We ate from the lunchtime menu. Two of us had Gammon and one had Scampi. The gammon were beautiful and fat free although a little salty. The scampi was fine. I'd just like to thank Chris and the Wednesday lunch team and in particular Rhian, for going the extra mile in making sure we were not socially compromised during our visit. Thank you all, great job.

What a lovely evening we have had the lady on the door who sat us was lovely engaging conversation about our day ( the manager) our waitress Diane who could not do enough for us she was very cheerful our food tasted delicious it was hot and presented lovely even the lady from the kitchen who bought over our desserts was very happy and made conversation with us we had an amazing evening and will definitely be coming back well done horse and groom

When we arrived having booked a table it was a fairly long wait to have someone greet us and show us to the table.We asked to be moved as the seats in this booth were dirty and looked like they haven't been cleaned in a while. Having moved to the bar while we were found another table this too had dirty seats and we therefore had to stand.After being seated the server was fine took our order.The salad bar is certainly not unlimited, I say this as although we were taken once to the salad bar, to which was very much reduced in choice, there was no effort to ask if we wanted any more salad during the meal.The food took around 30 minutes to arrive. Most of the order wasn't as hot as it should be and we had to ask for some of the fries to be replaced. For the price I was very disappointed

A pub/restaurant with no real ale! What’s that all about? Very disappointed that I could not enjoy my meal with a pint of real ale. The staff didn’t even understand what I was on about. This is part of the M & B chain. One of the UK’s largest and famous long standing breweries. Only imported larger available. Yet down the road Green King pub offers a choice of three or four real ales. Shame on you M & B. Guess where I will be going next time. On the plus side, staff very pleasant.

When we arrived here mid afternoon after swimming at the nearby Coral Reef, we were told they were very busy, only had one chef on and the system had just gone down but we were very welcome to come in although there may be delays. We decided to go for it. A lovely waitress called Sandra was extremely attentive, friendly and brilliant with the children. Nothing was too much trouble. We didn’t have to wait long and luckily the system was back online quickly. Absolutely fab, would definitely visit again if in the area

We arrived without booking and Debbie sorted us a table which we were very grateful for, a very happy and chatty Chris who took us to our table and explained everything to us we then got served by a lovely waitress by the name of edita who was very friendly nothing was to much trouble for her she was amazing fantastic service from her our food was also amazing everything cooked to perfection everything was just perfect I highly recommended this place it’s just absolutely amazing we will definitely be returning credit to the chefs we have been to many places for dinner but this just place is definitely our number 1

Enjoyable meal , served quickly ( main a little too much after starter) Staff attentive and pleasant . Seemed to be a slight mishap with booking of table, made via internet a week earlier , but easily resolved by a member of the team , who did their best to make sure it didn't become a issue. A special mention to Chris and Diane who were perfect host's and Chris especially who made us all smile with his little comment's. To say the very least a great evening and meal was had by all . 10/10 guy's and thank you !

My friends and I used to be regular users of this restaurant as it is half way between our homes. We’ve visited once since lockdown as we’re absolutely gobsmacked at how much the place has changed. It used to be run by a young fella with blonde hair and he was brilliant, his staff were accommodating, polite and great at their job. Since the business has changed hands it has seriously gone down hill. The elderly lady on the door with grey short hair in a pink shirt has got to be the most miserable and rudest person I have ever seen manage a restaurant. She was rude to her staff numerous times in front of customers which obviously ruins the atmosphere and you could see that the staff were clearly unhappy with the way they were being treated. Running around like headless chickens and they quite clearly don’t know what they’re doing, unless they’re standing by the tills gossiping which is obviously something they know how to do brunette short cut haired girl and a blondish/brown haired woman with long hair tied up. Dirty table, dirty cutlery, lipstick on a wine glass and even a bottle served to our table with the cap still on!!!!! Young person on the bar with glasses, clearly they’re new but have absolutely no idea what they’re doing, could definitely do with some more training before being left to their own devices. We used to love visiting this restaurant before the lockdown, the staff before were brilliant at their jobs, friendly and really made everyone feel like they were at home. The place looks and feels like a cemetery. No joy, the life has been sucked out of the place. The only saving grace for this place was the ice cream, which i can only guess comes out of a machine so not difficult to ruin. Will not be returning and will more than likely tell friends and family to avoid this place at all costs!!!!!!!

Visited the Harvester after some time of being unable to. Great service despite being busy running around sorting takeaways. Our waiter (Chris) attended to us and was very pleasant throughout the evening. Great atmosphere and all staff were happy, friendly and talkative. Despite covid restrictions, this visit was still great. Always enjoy visiting Harvester. Thanks guys :).

Service was fantastic from the start. Chris met us promptly at the door, he was very welcoming and seated us quickly to our table, making sure that it was suitable for our toddler. Throughout our meal, I noticed how busy he was, always delivering service with a smile. He made sure to talk to us as he went past to check how everything was with our experience. Our waitress was Mel. She was very cheerful and helpful. She gave us clear instructions of how the restaurant was working with covid restrictions, i.e. Service at the salad cart etc, which made us feel safe and cared for. She was very efficient throughout our meal, checking that we had everything that we needed and she made us feel very welcome. Drinks and refills came promptly from the bar. Even though she wasn't our waitress, Diane helped with our child at the salad cart and continued to make friendly conversation as she walked past our table. Our little girl was delighted with how friendly she was. It is clear that these people really enjoy working with each other, whilst maintaining a professional attitude. Our experience tonight was made so lovely by the staff, who gave us a much needed treat after not going out for so long.

We were made to feel welcome and the Covid restrictions were fully explained to us. We felt really safe, the gentleman at the front desk was also really helpful. The breakfast was really tasty. We will definitely be visiting again and highly recommend. :)
