A mixed bag really. The majority of our group had the roast which was ok, apart from the hard reheated roast potatoes, quite unpleasant. That said there was a good selection of veg, plenty of gravy and condiments. The meat, I imagine, was the pre-sliced stuff which was also just ok. The non roast dinner eaters were happy with their meals. The service was pretty good but nobody came to ask if all was OK with our meals, nor was I asked this when I paid. Such a shame as it had potential, with a few tweaks it would be good.

Pre booked a table for 2 for a Birthday Lunch. A warm welcome and friendly staff and quite a few tables occupied at 1pm. We both chose the medium roast. Sorry to say that we were disappointed with our meal. I cannot remember ever being served reheated roast potatoes, so dry and brown inside, couldn't even cut them, frozen carrots, and all the other veg apart from the red cabbage had a really strange tang to it. The beef was actually acceptable, but the Yorkshire pud was dry. The meal was also not very hot. No one came to check that everything was ok and to be honest if you feel that putting out plates of food of this quality is the thing to do, then, what would be the point of bringing it to your attention, making a fuss etc, you were hardly going to pop out into the kitchen and peel some fresh spuds....better to just pay and not return. A real shame as we were really looking forward to it.

Lovely old fashioned pub stopped for a drink after a dog walk. The gate leads from wimborne sang straight onto their pub garden. Friendly staff and ice cold larger just the thing on a warm day. Spoke to another dog walker that said they do a nice Sunday lunch so a return trip soon.

Went for Sunday lunch today, 10 of us and 2 dogs, great contact before hand with Richard to reserve the table etc. Food was excellent, huge roast portions and big selection of veg and plenty of choice for those not wanting a roast. Good selection of drinks and puddings, comfortable surroundings and reasonable priced menu, would definitely go back 👍

Basically our Saturday went as follows:- served food and drinks no issues to start- waited to ask for more drinks for atleast 30 minutes and when no one asked my partner went up to the door and said he would like to order drinks. He was told to sit back down and a meme we of staff would come and take an order.- 40 minutes passed and still no one came.- my partner decided to go back and complain as well as pay- he spoke to a staff member (young girl, brown hair he thinks some purple streak in it) and said he was unhappy about the service.- she disappeared in to a room and loudly criticised my partner and said he’s complaining because of the service etc criticising him in front of him- when she came back he said “I could hear you criticising me to everyone just then” to which she replied “ I’d you don’t like it here you can go elsewhere” which we did. It gets worse!!!! I emailed the manager about this experience and she was so rude in her response, justified everything and didn’t apologise! I’ve never ever experienced anything like it.

Very busy as doing the eat out to help out scheme and managed to get a pleasant table in the garden on a VERY hot day - happy for us to move table under a tree and we were very spaced out with many tables removed. They are taking Covid very seriously. Strict one way system throughout the pathways and inside/space markers/screen at desk with only one person per table ordering/drinks put on trays - no direct handling by waiting staff/paper menus definitely not reused/high levels of cleaning/an app to order (although this isnt applicable during the eat out scheme)/plenty of sanitiser - they couldnt do more. Warning at entrance food was taking in hour but this wasnt the case - no where near that long. I had the sharing platter which was very good and huge eve for 2 of us. My friends had the vege burger and loved the fact that you could have nachos rather than chips. The rest of the menu looked very good. Will return.

In a gem of a happy place that Wimborne is, the Horns Inn is the complete opposite. It’s a shame the reputable Hall & Woodhouse choose to have their name attached to such a sad disturbing place. I recently booked a Sunday lunch here for a medium sized group only to arrive and be told my booking had been cancelled. (Despite 3 phone calls to and fro confirming the booking)In amidst our disappointment (and our dinner party waiting in the cold unwelcoming carpark) I could not have been more pleasant and understanding to the poor girl serving me, especially as she and the rest of the staff looked positively miserable with the working conditions. I politely rebooked (witnessed by the numerous bar/restaurant staff) for a few weeks ahead and emailed the manager with feedback on my experience and welcomed a reply. I received an unbelievably aggressive and rude response from the manager and, after a very upsetting personal assassination of my character, was told my future booking had been taken under duress and would therefore been cancelled. Shockingly rude treatment which evidently stems from management level!!!

Visited here twice whilst staying nearby. The food we tried was nice (shepherds pie, lamb shank, lasagne, fish and chips) and seemed to be homemade. I like that it's dog friendly and staff were helpful. There's also a play area for kids in the garden which was useful. We were unlucky as they had sold out of many items due to being busy and when we went back for lunch the next day still hadn't had their delivery - would have liked to tried some different dishes but came in at the wrong time. What we had was nice and tasty though!

Arrived at 6pm and were shown to a table. Any table because they were all empty, which made us feel uneasy. Not to worry, others arrived but importantly so did our extremely pleasant waitress. We ordered drinks and studied the menu while they were being mixed.I ordered deep fried breadcrumbed brie with toast, with a salad. As a main I decided on the home made chicken curry with all the usual accompanents (onion baargis', naan bread, popadom and chutney). The curry could be cooked to various palettes, of which I chose tikka massala. My wife decided to go for the crispy calamari and salad, followed by home made fish cakes mash and mixed vegetables. We were both very, very pleased with all of the food, along with the choice we could choose from. Plates were hot, food was hot and delicious and the service was excellent. The cost for our meal was around £30. Very good value.

We have always enjoyed the food here, sadly one of the meals we had last night was very poor, basically this was the toughest steak I have ever had, to the point that dispite every best effort it was inedible. The other two meals (chicken curry and fish and chips) we had were fine. Rather than cause a fuss I told the rest of the table to carry on eating thier meals and I would tell the waitress when she next passed by, unfortunately we did not see a waitress until the others had finished eating, in fact we did not one for at least 30 minuets after they had finished, as we sat with dirty plates in front of us for at least that amount of time. This was no fault of the table staff who were clearly run off their feet, however one could question what the manager was doing, other than b*****r all, obviously serving and clearing tables was beneath her. When we did eventually get the tables cleared and ponted out that the meal I was served an hour before was inedible, the manager was sent over and basically did not deal with it correctly, offering us free deserts (that we did not really intend having) yet still chargging for the meal that could not be eaten. If it had not been my mothers birthday meal I would have made more of this at the time, however she asked me not to.

We ended up at The Horns because the restaurant we had previously booked cancelled our booking yesterday and we had to look around for somewhere else. So having read some good reviews of the Sunday roasts at The Horns we booked there instead. We were early for our 12.30pm booking, but our table was ready with our name on it. Drinks orders were swiftly taken at the table and brought within a few minutes. Our food order - a choice of beef, turkey, pork or all three - was also taken and the food arrived shortly after the drinks. A good plateful, piping hot, with 6 different freshly cooked vegetables plus roast and new potatoes, yorkshire puds and plenty of tender meat. An additional jug of gravy was also brought to the table with our choice of sauces. The food was excellent and such good value.Puddings were included in the £8.95 price and a board with 6 different choices was offered. We chose the white chocolate and raspberry roulade and the cookie dough salted caramel pie. Both came served with a garnish of fresh fruit and cream. They were delicious - and the key lime pie that someone was having on the next table also looked extremely tempting. The young waiting staff were prompt, polite and attentive. I was visiting from Canada and having grown up in The Wimborne area in the 50s-60s, I enjoyed checking out my favourite pubs from my youth. On my last visit 5 years ago I was disappointed in The Horns. They had even stopped serving evening meals. However, when I heard that Michelle and George, respected local publicans, had recently taken over, and that reports were all positive, I was happy to revisit. I like this pub a lot for several reasons. I like the dining area; it is well designed and quiet, and I like public bar as do some friendly locals. The menu is varied and imaginative, and most important to me, highly affordable. Michelle's support staff are friendly and efficient. It is also a paradise for parents with a closed off play area and a safe trampoline. Most of all, I was impressed by the service. Early in the week I booked a quiet table for 5 for Thursday. I had a family meeting organized. On Wednesday Michelle phoned me to say that the person who took my booking was not aware that there was live entertainment that evening and I should be warned. I postponed my booking but was touched that at the cost of losing 5 diners, she let me know. This prompts my review. I wish Michelle and George well and will visit again next June.

We were amazed to find the price was only £8.95 and this included any pudding from the menu. Visited The Horns for the first time yesterday evening and was really impressed, firstly with what was an excellent plate of food and secondly with the location, friendliness of staff and the ambience. The steak (medium rare) was perfectly cooked with great chips and nice details, like the asparagus, and side salad. The interior is cosy and what you'd expect in a country pub, while outside there is a lovely, simple view of rural Dorset (the pub is nestled in a small valley). We'll certainly be returning regularly!

My partner and I happened by this pub after a morning in Wimborne expecting to having a lovely lunch. Instead we were greeted by an extremely rude bar maid demanding whether we had booked a table and tutting obnoxiously. After surveying an empty dining room, I proposed that if they were too busy we would go elsewhere. She then hurriedly sat us down, not before mentioning we must be out by 2pm as the table was booked. Suffice to say that was all it took for us to take the hint and we left, not without her quickly realising how utterly rude and dismissive she was and hastily back tracking, trying to keep us in. All I can say is that I will never be returning; the shabby interior, 'locals-only' atmosphere and brash, cretinous attitude of the staff has succeeded in keeping potential customers away. I'm surprised it's still open.

Had a delicious and amazing value roast today with EIGHT varieties of veg and a generous portion of nicely cooked meat. On Sundays the menu is only roast dinner, worth noting. You also get a jug of gravy! You get a pudding included - I think these alternate but today we chose apple and rhubarb crumble - and strawberries and cream.

We went for lunch, they had a 2 for £10 offer but we went for the full menu, plenty of choice. There was one girl doing everything , behind the bar, taking orders, and serving food, she was very calm and polite even though she was very busy, well done her! Then when we left she was doing the washing up!!!!Overall, good food and a nice place, only spoiler was the hand written pieces of paper as loo signs !

This pub has recently had a 'refurb' although I am struggling to see that for myself. It seems the decor has been updated slightly but they seem to of missed the most important bits. Hand written paper signs for the ladies and gents toilets. No lock on the ladies toilet which also does not shut properly so unless you are a gymnast that can have a pee and hold the door shut with your legs I'd hold it in. They have tried to make the pub look more rustic but still have those dreadful Harry Potter lights out the front which is an immediate turn off, it reminds me of a brothel in Russia. The play area has been 'updated' which consists of a baby's dirty looking slide with cracks, a 1980's trike that looks like it has a few stories to tell and another grubby looking trampoline with buckled legs. The landlady looks like a bulldog chewing a wasp and the locals look like they are in great need of a wash. The restaurant was empty on a fine Saturday lunchtime which says it all. This pub would be burnt down if it wasn't for the loyal locals keeping it alive. It has a lot of potential to be nice but the brewery is tight and the owners don't have a clue. Sad really.

Visted here last summer and had a very good meal. Came back a few weeks ago on Saturday lunch and again it was a very good meal. This is what good pub gub should be like. Not very busy so plenty of tables to choose from. Decent menu option with daily specials. You can't beat freshly-cooked food as this clearly is, it might take a bit longer to arrive, but so what, it's worth it.Went for burger and chips with extra toppings. Friends had lamb and gammon. Potions are generous, but I believe there is the option to have smaller potions if required.Good food, great value and nice location. Worth a visit.

Best value Sunday roast ! Great food, well cooked...and lots of it. Always served piping hot, fresh from the kitchen by friendly and efficient staff. Our last visit was Mothering Sunday and both the mums in our group were given some lovely daffodils - such a nice touch ! Always busy, so make sure you book in advance

13 of us went for a pre-Christmas meal and every one of us was delighted with the quality of our meal, the generous portions, the friendly service and the general atmosphere. Some of us have been on other occasions and we have never been disappointed with the quality or quantity of the food. It is such a treat to have such an enjoyable evening. No negatives at all. Thank you to the staff.

The staff of the Horns were second to none when they helped my friend put on her hubands wake at the pub after a funeral at the Woodland burial. Nothing was too much trouble. They constantly topped up the food, no one was kept waiting at the bar, tea and coffee were available throughout with the staff quietly, efficiently doing what they do best.Thank you all so much.P.S. Sunday roast at the pub is fab too!!

We've been there twice recently, once for lunch and once for dinner. It's a proper pub, as pubs used to be. All food is freshly prepared, so you might have to wait twenty minutes, but there's plenty of it, a varied choice, and it's served piping hot. All at very reasonable prices, with cheerful service from very caring staff- they really want you to enjoy your meal.

called in for a drink around 5 when out for a drive. Very friendly staff and customers.Nice garden & play area if you had little people. Went in for meal as weather a bit dull. Lovely food hot & tasty - just like the waiter...lol.Menu is simple but well cooked, we were asked if every thing was alright with our meal, which was nice, not often done. the only one small disappointment was dead flowers in vases on tables.will definitely call in if passing that way again

We are staying closeby as have an early morning flight. Arrived just after 6pm and plenty of tables. Ordered food and drinks. Meals were excellent, veg cooked perfectly and food hot. Managed to force down desserts, again excellent. Good value for money and excellent friendly service. By 6.30 it was quite busy. Would use again if in area.

This pub is one of our regular haunts, especially on a nice summers day/evening. They have a large well appointed beer garden, a varied menu, and very good level of service. They provide a Bouncy Castle for the children in the summer, and have a warm welcoming fire in the main restaurant for winter visits. Food always well above average, although have to say that last time I had their Sunday lunch, I was a little bit disappointed. The vegetables were a little bland, and the size of the Sunday lunch was not ideal if you had a large appetite. Otherwise, very nice place to visit all year round.

We were recommended to try the Horns Inn by friends - and they were quite right - what an amazing Roast Sunday Lunch. There are three roast meats available and the lunch comes in two sizes - large (13" plate) or smaller. Now, unless you have a huge appetite - choose the smaller size - you get exactly the same but just smaller quantities. There were green beans, french beans , carrots, cauliflower, broccoli, leeks, cabbage, mashed root veggies, new potatoes and roast potatoes, stuffing and Yorkshire pudding. Meat choice was Beef, Pork or Turkey today. And it came piping hot with extra gravy - and matching sauces depending on which meat you chose. Absolutely fabulous. And to top it all the price includes pudding !! You will not be disappointed - great for families or singles - you will all enjoy it.

Went to this place on recommendation of friends, but as we entered all was not good. We had booked a table which was marked up for us, which was slightly encouraging, but the staff were in the bar, but did not acknowledge or presence at all. After sitting looking at the menu for 10 minutes I went to the bar to order. Asked several questions about the menu, but the barman had to go and ask for advice. I ordered our 4 main courses but had to wait over 45 minutes for them to arrive. 3 of the meals were OK but my Steak, onion and Irish stout pie was a disgrace. It had no meat in it, just a runny goo!I showed it to the manageress who agreed it was not good. I was given some lame excuses regarding suppliers and new staff, but still not impressed by the overall experience.

I have visited the Horns many times in the last 18 years and seen its peaks and troughs.I had heard on the grapevine that yet another management team had taken over and very complimentary reports on the value and range of food on offer. The decor was slightly different to how I remember but everything was clean and tidy. The staff were Friendly although the dining area was deserted when I arrived. this was to change and within half an hour the place was buzzing. The food was well cooked and nice presented. The value and quantity was the best I have had for some time.I shall be back again.

My wife and I went there last night, for the very first time, with two friends. Quiet, so plenty of room. Very welcoming hostess. Not an extensive menu but with sufficient straight forward good meals on offer. My friend and I had steaks and our wives had other choices. Our steaks were good exactly as we asked and the women said their meals were also very well cooked. The presentation of the meals was very good but beware! If you have a small appetite you will struggle a little bit as the portions were very generous and, unfortunately, left no room for a pudding. The beer was nice as well.

I had a Sunday lunch here with friends. Admittedly the menu was limited to 3 choices of roasts, the cost of £9 included dessert. The portions were very generous with roast and boiled potatoes and several types of veg. The desserts were just as large from a varied choice. I intend going back.

We attended as a group of 10 for a tribute night. We had one lady who was celiac and this was noted when we pre ordered the food choices. Our food was great, she was given Pasta in her stuffed pepper. We complained and the food went away, no alternatives or a free drink was offered or a full refund. Very disappointing as she was ill the next day. very disappointing!! We did enjoy the evening and the entertainment. (Take dietary requests seriously)
