What a find great selection of IPA's and ciders Landlord extremely helpfull and whole place had a really nice vibe

Stop by for a pint and ended up by couple of drinks because of awesome craft beer variety. Simply loved this place. A welcoming little pub with a wide selection of ales. Friendly staff who knows his job well. Very warm atmosphere. Reasonable prices. Recommend this micropub.

Very cool pub. Danny has a variety of different beers. Not sure which one you want to drink? No problem, Danny will be happy to offer you a sip to try beforehand. And otherwise ask the locals. The pub is full of them. Everyone is super nice and open-minded. It's actually not possible to not enter into a conversation here. Oh, and you want to sit outside? This either faces the street or behind the pub in the courtyard.

Called in for a drink after the long drive from Liverpool for the ferry the following day. Unlike its neighbours with crazy karaoke, the Hoptimist was chilled, tranquil, with pleasant staff and an excellent selection of beers tasty beers, wines and ales. I would highly recommend. Cheers for the hospitality guys👍

Nice little pub with a good choice of beers and a lovely outside area. Spoilt by locals who sit around and crowd the bar, preventing you being served.

Staff here are super friendly and so are the prices, love music makes it a nice place too

Top place for the beer enthusiast, drop in here from time to time when visiting family always a friendly welcome and the guys behind the bar always remember what beer I like even though it's 6 months between visits

Great little bar. Good selection of beers on tap and brilliant service by a very knowledgeable owner. Selection of board games available and the locals were incredibly friendly and welcoming.

Lovely pub with a nice little outdoor smoking area which I have used in the past. The pub was crowded when I visited on 24th Feb as the rugby match was being shown. The crowd and staff were welcoming and I enjoyed my two halves of beer before I moved on to get some food. A selection of four real ales was available.

Awesome micropub, very friendly

What a great tap room! A little gem in the centre of Dover and well worth a visit. We stopped in after a 15 km walk from Lydden to Dover and we really needed a drink. The service was excellent and the surroundings quite conducive for relaxing on a Sunday afternoon. There is a great selection of cask conditioned and keg ales, including Time and Tide and Thornbridge, which are really well kept. I would have liked to have stayed longer, but had to catch a bus; and will be back🙂❤️🍻🍺!

Quite big for a micropub. More a modern bar/pub. Was there lunchtime and there were a few older locals sitting around chatting. There were 4 ales, I sampled 2 and they were in good condition. The guy behind the bar was helpful and informative. Apart from the ales there were 8 taps serving a variety of craft beers and lagers plus a fizzy cider. Still cider was also available. Initially I had some reservations about this place but decided after a while that it was excellent

Landed here (thanks to google reviews) after a walk from Folkestone. Genuinely friendly staff, greet beer, great ambience. Only sad that I don't have a place like this near me!

Such a lovely pitstop after seeing the cliffs. Complimentary cheese plate on a Sunday with amazing selection of beers and cider. A must visit if you are anywhere near Dover!

Usually a great choice of local beers, friendly staff, only slight criticism would be that the music can be a bit loud sometimes.

We came to town on a cruise ship and found this place on the edge of Market Square in Dover. Opens early afternoon but still a great place for an afternoon beer, especially local brews on tap. Owners are friendly and helpful. Make the effort to find it.

Is a top place to visit in the town centre. if you are a fan of local and continental ales and ipa's. This is a place for you. There is also a cocktail board and selection of spirits . It is immaculate in side with toilet facilities. i came across the most lovely caring and friendly staff you could want for, they make you fell at ease and where so attentive and made our evening. There was live music being played that made for a great atmosphere.

What a lovely vibe.....can't say if it's the same every night but...choose your music and the lady will try to find it for you.... she found mine, great afternoon and evening, shame we had to get home!

Great beer - no food - fabulous cider

A great atmosphere with friendly and helpful service. Today there was some very nice snacks in the form of beautiful roast potatoes, quiche and sandwiches, very welcome. A good selection of real ales and beers.

Richie triangle, the most welcoming people I have ever met, and very good beer made us have some of the best moments we had in a bar with my friends. Lovely people and place. I can not recommended enough this bar. We will definitely come back to Dover just to go back there.

This lovely little micro pub in Dover is an absolute gem. The little rebel ale was absolutely delicious. The place had a lovely feel and the lady that served us was very welcoming too. Will definitely be back. Highly recommended. Thank you.

The Hoptimist is an excellent craft/cask ale pub in the heart of Dover, ten minutes from the railway station (Dover Priory). A friendly, busy place with a nice, smallish, covered beer garden to the rear. The owners are both knowledgeable and extremely welcoming, one of them introduced me to the two "green hops" beers on offer. Spent the entire evening of my last full day in England there, got into talking with the locals (some of them being quite the "characters"), and ended up playing a game of chess with one of them, board & pieces provided by the pub. A lovely evening. The beer selection is quite extensive and genuine, and the prices very moderate, especially considering this is on the expensive south coast). Cannot recommend this place highly enough! Greeting from a German craft beer lover.

Decent pint - decent company reasonable prices

A fairly newly opened place that suffered due to the lockdown. However what a cracking place to go! Although small it punches above its weight with the ambience, the friendly staff and great selection of non mainstream beer, lager and spirits. A welcome addition to the Dover independent pub scene.
