Didn't have a reservation, popped in on the off chance that they could fit us in. We had a table near the window. Staff were very attentive and pleasant. We had a carvery lunch and it was superb. One of the best we have had. Everything nice and fresh and extremely tasty. Thank you.

We went based on a recommendation. Beautiful looking building, appears like an old proper family pub. But the food. Nothing more than average, carverys were ok/good, OK selection of veg, meat was cooked ok, portions were ok. I was neither wow-ed or disappointed. Service. Mostly good and pleasant. I went to toilet when I arrived, when I went to sit at our table our orders were demanded, yes I think she was a little stern, but I hadn't even seen the menu at that point. Asked for more time. Order wasn't then taken for some time and to say we'd felt rushed then left. Did leave a little sore taste. Like I say, overall was ok but I won't be returning.

Was recommended this pub as was local to where we were staying. We had our dogs with us which can also sometimes be a bit of a bind, however we were made to feel very welcome. Food was lovely, and portions huge. Cannot fault anything, so good that we have booked to go back for Sunday lunch. Would definitely recommend! 👍

This pub is a dump and the land lord is an arrogant man who is also seems a chauvinist with no people skills. My daughter and I were stranded in the floods and came into the shelter of the pub through two open doors, a man was sitting at the bar and one behind the bar. Our intent was to use the toilet a have a warm drink before deciding what to do next in the flood. The man said we could only have the ladies toilet light on( which he controlled from behind the bar) if we asked nicely. He said he wasn't open either.Ok, so why were his doors open and a man sitting at the bar? When you see so many heart warming stories about people helping others in floods, snowfall etc, what a shame that this odeous man couldn't open his heart to two people lost in impassable floods. I think his behaviour was truly disgusting just like his grubby little pub.

We stayed at nearby Wold View fisheries who recommended the Hope Tavern just 1 mile away. We were delighted to find that the pub was "dog friendly" which was true as she got a really vey friendly welcome from staff. The menu was varied and priced very reasonably. The food was good quality and cooked to order so expect a little wait but it was well worth it not to have to eat the warmed up fare that some pubs serve up. I would thoroughly recommend this pub, good food and good beer, what more could you want?

Just called in for an espresso which was punchy and served at a good temperature, accompanied by a mini cookie, which unfortunately was not egg and dairy free. We did not see any vegan friendly items on the menu as it appears to be catering to people who like traditional meals. The member of staff who served us was pleasant and friendly. There is a beer garden and the pub features live music from various blues bands.

I googled this pub and the feedback was great so we went along to eat. The bar lady was extremely hospitable. The place was very cold. One meal was over cooked. One meal was obviously microwaved as the temperature was uneven. One meal was average. The vegetable portions were minimal. Because of this we were disappointed as we all had high expectations. Maybe we were just unlucky!

We have never eaten here, but we go regularly to the blues afternoons held every couple of weeks from 4pm on a Sunday. It usually costs £8 per person and we have seen some quality musicians perform here over the last couple of years. The venue is intimate with a small performance area and can be loud, but that is all part of the experience. Keep an eye out for the program on their website and Facebook page. As well as that they serve a nice pint of ale and have friendly bar staff.

Not only was half the menu unavailable but the surroundings of deceased flies on the window ledge was a big off put, as well as the waitresses see through leggings. Both herself and the chef had a bad attitude when challenged about a big piece of plastic found in the peas of my elderly mothers meal which turned out to be cling film that apparently 'always shreds off'. A careless mistake to make which could have been potentially very hazardous . When the chef was challenged and I asked him what would have happened if my elderly mother were to choke on this 'plastic' his reply was 'well luckily she didn't'.Very, very disappointed and shall not be returning.

We drove past on our way home from Cleethorpes to Lincoln and noticed the sign for Carvery, so we decided to stop. The Carvery was just being laid out,so we ordered a drink and waited. As it was early we did not expect many people in, but were surprised to see a few regulars, and a reserved table. The Carvery was beef, pork, mashed potatoes, roast potatoes, peas and carrots. Both the beef and the pork were very tender, and tasted of the meat they were meant to be. I have been to many restaurants where the meat has been bland and tasteless, the carrots had a lovely flavour, and although the peas were tinned, they were very tasty. For the price I though it was very good value, and they also had an extensive menu, and fish and chips for £3.99. A nice friendly, traditional local pub. It's not posh, or a proper restaurant, but it doesn't pretend to be. However, they certainly know how to cook a joint of meat. I will go back when I am passing that way.

My wife spent a long time on the trip advisor webb site checking out this pub /restaurant but eventually after looking at the pictures and the menus and by reading reviews submitted we also noticed they took taste card, so we had a leasurly drive out to this eating establishment.Well when we pulled up out side i was shocked from the out side ot looked like it needed a lot of attention to it as it was quite shabby and i didnt think it was even open.Any way we went and there was a smell of cooking oil which was not very pleasant. And to my amazement after reading all your reviews on trip advisor we decided to give it a chance with all of this talked up food.We ordered a scampi a gamon and a roast pork dinner for the three of us as the pub was EMPTY and we were the only ones in i thought this will be ok no rush for the cheff and we waited with baited breath.the food arrived and to say the least we expected better the senior lady of our party couldnt eat the pork as it was tougth and she left the meat,my wifes scampi had a funny tase of oil with it bo lemon with the scampi as is usually served in most restaurants my gammon was very salty no pineapple and a small portion of chips.overall i think this public house as had better days and needs a lot of money spending on it and particulay to the kitchens and interior of the place.

Booked a meal for two at the Hope Tavern with a tastecard to get one meal free and that included the pudding and thought the deal and the food itself was excellent. The pub is in a blink and you will miss it place but it is along the way to Market Rasen and just before some crossings two miles or so out of Nettleton. This i think is a disadvantage to the place as the pub is not automatically seen and i had to think whether it was just before or after the crossings. The pub is dated and certainly has an old feel about it, however the lady who served me was warm and welcoming and we felt comfortable when we had ordered and sat down. We ordered Seabass and as has been said on here already the fish was fresh and tasted absolutely delicious, as did the whole meal. The lady behind the bar dealt with both the drinks and the service as the pub was quiet but she was not pushy at all yet still kept an eye on if we needed anything. We also had a pudding and that too tasted lovely, all in all i was very happy with the food, the service and the chilled out environment that had the old feel and not a bog standard pub where food and atmosphere seems to be the same. I would recommend this pub to anyone if they want to enjoy a nice meal :)

As this was our return visit we were hoping the problem had been addressed. Alas no,we were advised opening the top windows would be ok but had there been no breeze the person sat against the window would be roasted as the building offered no shade. My message is this: Food and hospitality are excellent, but why spoil it for some customers when they obviously know there is a problem and do nothing about it. Ever heard of ceiling fans landlord ?

As the sun made a rare appearance today, we decided to have lunch at the Hope Tavern. We’ve often driven past it, but never stopped there before. Other than two other customers, we had the place to ourselves. We sat near the open fireplace,to warm up despite the sun,it was still cold outside. The lady who served us was friendly and helpful. While we waited,ew watched the passing trains (next to a level crossing, and looked out over the fields. We both chose the Tavern Omelette (£7.50 each-mine without ham), which came with plenty of chips-the best I’ve eaten for a long time. There was no annoying Musak, and, mercifully, no-one came up to us just when we had put a fork-full of hot food in our mouths, to ask us ‘if everything was alright with our meal’.(I hate that, I’m sure it’s done just when you can’t speak, even if you wanted to.)So, if you want a quite lunchtime meal, and want a change from ‘pub chains’, I would recommend stopping by some time.

My brother and I were looking for somewhere between Lincoln and Grimsby to meet up for a chat and something to eat as we hadn;t seen each other for a few years, we were looking for decent food and somewhere where conversation would be possible without loud music interrupting us.The Hope Tavern proved to be the ideal place, the lady behind the bar made us feel welcome and recommended going through to the main dining area where a lovely open fire was burning, she ensured we were comfortable and attended the table when we were ready to order, there was a good choice of home cooked food and she took our orders in a friendly and polite manner. When the food arrived it was hot and obviously freshly prepared and very tasty and great value. As we both have quite healthy appetites you can rest assured that the portion size didn't leave anything wanting. There is a lovely friendly atmosphere and what made it feel even more homely was the ability of the staff to share a laugh with the customers and the fact that background music was just that and it didnt overpower the conversation.
