The Hope Pub in Camden

Visited Saturday purely to try Murphy’s . As an avid Guinness drinker I was excited to try something similar. Murphy’s doesn’t disappoint. Creamy, tasty and none of the bitter after taste you sometimes get with Guinness. The bar wasn’t too busy when we visited and is quite small, but I imagine a little busier and it’s a great atmosphere. Both staff were friendly and seemed genuinely interested in my opinion of the Murphy’s as I said it was my 1st. The pint was poured properly and left to settle , and brought to my table . The other staff member was discussing the history of Murphy’s and how old one of the pump was. I didn’t get started on the spirits but there was good selection. I will be back.

We stopped off here on the way to a wedding. We had a warm welcome and enjoyed a nice drink with some decent atmosphere and music before we left for the wedding. We’d recommend anyone passing to pop in.

We first stumbled across this gem of a pub just before Christmas on a girls day out. The team had only just taken over The Hope but they were fabulous from the first moment. We initially came for pre lunch drinks and were then heading for a brunch nearby. The brunch wasn't great so we came back to The Hope for more drinks and didn't regret it for a second. We were made to feel so welcome and the team even gave us our own "Irish Brunch" to make up for our disappointment. We found ourselves in London again last weekend and headed straight for The Hope without hesitation. Glen recognised us as soon as we entered and the welcome was warm and very friendly. We came for drinks but as the kitchen is now open, we ended up staying for traditional Irish pub grub and a few more drinks than planned. The atmosphere is friendly and fun. We felt thoroughly rewarded at the decision to revisit and The Hope will definitely be on our list of must visit next time we return to London.

Visiting from the US and stayed nearby - what a great pub! Staff was fantastic. Drinks were great. Lively pub to watch a football game - hope to return. Highly recommend.

Here in London on business again and the Hope didn’t disappoint as usual. Buffalo Blue pizza was great and was accompanied by some craft beers, had Hep Cat and Neck Oil. Shame the Hep Cat isn’t on all the time, seems to come and go but can’t complain as there is always some decent beers on.

Service from the team there was exceptional, remembered me from my last visit and ensured me and my colleagues were looked after very well.

Went over with a couple of friends got some delicious chilled pints and beautiful cocktails which were 2 for 1. Definitely Recommend!!

I love to visit this pub - the atmosphere is great, the pizza menu offers lots of choice for toppings and the staff are really friendly. The pizzas are some of the best I’ve tried and there is plenty of choice when it comes to drinks. Live sport is really fun to watch here too, plus it is easy to get to; 10 out of 10 recommend.

Back in London on business and went to my favourite craft beer and pizza place. As normal they didn’t disappoint which a choice of 4 pale ales on at the moment. I had the buffalo blue pizza and that is something I would definitely recommend.

Came in yesterday lunch time with some work friends and were treated to some excellent pizzas and fantastic service. Will absolutely be returning!

Was in London for the weekend and the bartender Will on the night provided us with excellent service, with extensive knowledge of the local craft beers. We will definitely be returning next time we’re in the area!

Back in London again yesterday and went to one of my favourite pubs for a few craft beers. They had the usual Beaverton and Brewdog ones but also some Tiny Rebel which I enjoyed. Service and the welcome was great as ever.

Visited here in May and was very impressed. Came back today and was again. Food is great and the cocktails went down well.

We had a brilliant trip to the Hope, using the upstairs function room for our meeting. Andy and Clement looked after us, and we had pie and coffee during the day. We actually stayed for drinks afterwards and have rebooked again for next month!

Great place to grab something to drink or eat. Really friendly staff, especially Alex who was very patient with me explaining all the different lunch time deal options. I went for the Moo pie + A pint. 10/10 would recommend.

The pies are really marvelous and the prices are fair for the portions that are very generous. They have a wide selections of ales and drinks as well. It was a nice experience after a long day in the city.

Really tasty pies. We tried both of the chicken pies and they were amazing. Tasty comfort food at a good price. The room up the top was lovely and quiet around 2pm on a Wednesday. We enjoyed looking out onto the street below.

Visited last night as staying over in London due to the train strikes. All cocktails were 2 for 1 which is a great deal especially considering how near they are to central London.

Fab pub, they told me they had just reopened after a refurbishment. We felt very welcome and enjoyed the range of craft beers. As a bonus, the pie and mash was amazing.

It was surprisingly quiet here for a Friday night so there was room to sit inside and outside. Staff were very friendly and there was a great choice of beers. Sport on the TV too. Prices weren't unreasonable for Central London either.

Nothing special about this small, single room pub in London's Fitzrovia district, but it's perfectly user friendly with welcoming and efficient staff, room to both stand and sit and a good selection of beers, as well as a Pieminister menu.

Just what a London pub should be. Friendly, welcoming but informal. Good selection of beers and spirits. Great for a catch up with friends but also a place where I would feel comfortable going into on my own.

Fuimos durante el fin de semana para ver un partido con algunos amigos, muy pequeño y acogedor pub con una buena selección de cervezas, (tanto lagers y tonel). El personal era muy amable y atento. Un pub encantador con una pequeña selección de cerveza y un menú decente-pub. We visited this pub twice whilst in London, both at lunchtime so can't comment on how it fairs in the evening. A good selection of beers at acceptable prices for the area and excellent burgers. Unfortunately the barmaid had clearly left her personality at home but other than that an acceptable spot for a good beer and burger.

It was probably one of the worst pubs for food I have been too for a long while.This was early Friday lunch and we got there before other work goers; we were out for a colleagues celebration meal.Firstly the Heineken was flat and warm the bar lady argued on the contrary - this was one of the people we were with's selection, not my choice of beer. They did have a good range of beers that were good (as told by the other people I was with.)Secondly this member of staff who was also our waitress said all the food contained dairy after I told her I was lactose intolerant...Only after I pushed her for the 'allergy advice sheet' (that was clearly mentioned on the menu) did she come back to me and say again there is no dairy advice.After asking two other staff members, reluctantly she went to ask the chef and pointed me towards the salads.There was no suggestion of a burger without cheese or the brioche bun.Our food did not take too long to arrive my chicken and bacon salad being the last and it went downhill from there. It was a bland salad presented on a board with some heated up french bread. The bread being the highlight of the dish. I asked for some Olive oil and vinegar but the same staff member who had turned even ruder with her mannerisms decided she would prefer to give me salad cream. I decided best not to push her in case she decided too take it out on me. The chicken was cooked quite well but the overall dish which was literally just some chopped up iceberg lettuce, bacon and chicken with a healthy helping of extra salt was worse than I could have rustled up at home in 5 mins and well under £6.I did ask if I could have some tap water but the same member of staff said you had to go down to the bar to get it... which i found quite astonishing since the kitchen was just next to where we were eating. Overall it was a disappointing meal at an overpriced pub with a rude (the other staff members seemed nice to be fair) staff member who I could only imagine must own it or be related to the owners. If she isn't I don't know how she still has a job there. I cant comment on the burgers but they did look tasty however one of my colleagues who had the 'Legend Meister (~£13)' Burger had food poisoning for the rest of the weekend. Its fair to say I wont be returning to eat there and most probably not to even have a pint there.

The staff don't seem to understand how a pub works. The clock above the bar is set about ten minutes fast, and so when you try to order a pint at 2255 they tell you they're shut. Nor do they understand that you have 20 mins to finish your drink. Staff are also rude and aggressive.They all seem to be East European. That only becomes an issue when they have the same concept of service as existed in Caecescu's Romania. Sadly, that is the case. Won't be going back.

Hello, all in all the hope is a decent little boozer. I'm personally not one to attend pubs with massive crowds or when they're packed to the rafters. I like to pop in a bit later in the evening during the early part of the week. A chance to unwind, relax, etcThe Hope is one of my London retreats.Its in a fantastic location, has a nice crowd and is a relaxed place even when its brisk, I find the atmosphere to be at ease. As noted, its not a big premesis but horses for courses, I like intimate pubs and always been treatednicely here.

An average pub, and based on comments from others who were there, it's not popular for good good.Pub is very small and gets hugely congested and crowded. Also, be warned about pickpockets. There are warning signs all over the pub, and there are dodgy street urchins hanging around outside. Such a shame. It puts you off as you can never feel like you can relax. Avoid!

I visit here quite a lot as the firm I work for is only a few doors down. i have been using this pub and others in the neighbourhood for about 5 years now. I remember this pub before the current owners took over. there was floods in the toilets, no hot water and they ran out of beer regularly.Since the new folks have had it, its now a lot cleaner, the beer doesn't run out and the loos are clean and dry.The beer is always in good condition and every meal we have had has been fine. my favourite at the moment is the pulled pork burger ( its massive and very tasty).This is a great boozer that has no pretension of being a ghastro bar/ restaurant.Nicol the manager does a great job considering the range of people she has to deal with. we watched her on Friday lunch have a boy whining about having to pay for his drink and then at about 5.30 throw an idiot out who showed up hammered and it was reassuring to see how many of the local guys jumped in to offer help. this place is a love or hate pub but judging by the amount of locals that drink in here regularly, shes doing something right. Also they have 2 screens and show loads of sports... Its our local and I love it!

I used to go here a lot with work colleagues and I was quite fond of the chilli chips with cheese (which are no longer on the menu) but this pub has an ever changing menu, varying food quality and one of the rudest members of staff I have ever had the misfortune to meet in my entire life (she's the one with the blonde/black two tone hair, FYI). The food quality has steadily deteriorated in the last 3 months, the soft drinks are pretty extortionately priced and being served by someone who's demeanour is akin to that of Ebenezer Scrooge isn't number one on my list of things to do in my spare time.

Awful food Terrible incompetent staff who are some of the rudest I have ever encountered. The European bar maid is the main culprit. We used to go with work all the time but after today's visit we will not be returning. If you are looking for a good pub try the One Tun round the corner.

The Hope used to be a really good, lively but cosy pub for after work drinks. But it has recently been refurbished and has completely lost its soul, apparently to try and woo tourists (I can only imagine that's what the London-themed wallpaper is for). The staff are friendly, but the new lighting is incredibly bright. It's like sitting in a dentist's chair. The decor is stark and brittle. New TVs on both floors were blaring sports, loudly. It was horrible, and it is really sad to see a nice pub in Fitzrovia get the worst kind of makeover.I can;t do anything about this. All I have are the forlorn words of this review.

Went there with colleagues last week. Good range of burgers, huge portion. Very small pub, we ate upstairs. Nice beer, staff were ok. All in all a descent pub

The staff in this place are very rude. I ordered a pint of cider but the bar lady gave me a pint of lager. I took a sip, realised it was lager, went back to the bar and was told that because I'd had a sip, it was too late and I would have to buy a cider now. Even though it was her mistake!! She then got all stroppy with me and eventually the Manager was called and I got my cider. Imagine if you went to a restaurant, say a burger place, and ordered a lamb burger and then when it came you took a bit and realised it was a beef burger. Imagine if the waiter turned around and said: 'well too bad, you've already taken a bite, you'll have to buy another one.' ?!? That just wouldn't happen they would apologise profusely and rush through your correct order. That's what being in the service industry is all about. The only benefit to The Hope is that it was far emptier on Friday night compared to our local up the road so we could stand indoors.

Popped in for a quick pint on Friday and ending up staying all evening. Their ales are one of the clearest in London, if not the UK. Excellent staff, friendly and very busy, but didn't have to wait long to be served. Would definitely go back!

Can only comment on our lunchtime sandwiches - fantastic beef & pork with a sausage on the side at the right sort of price. Sliced white bread (has to be) on a paper plate with sliced gherkins. This is not glamour - the focus is on the quality of the meat.This is a "proper pub", not far away from spit & sawdust (i.e. downstairs is pretty shabby) but that's the way it should be & actually on the drinks side, the prices are pretty reasonable. Well worth a stop for a proper Smithfield sandwich.

Looks like this place was recently refurbished. There's a single bar on the ground floor and a restaurant on the first floor. Good selection of Ales and wine. We had a meal in the restaurant, good food, descent service and reasonably priced.Nice small traditional british pub

Has always been a great pub, so booked with friends and was advised you can't be a few minutes late as your table will be given away! Not only was I the only person in the pub at 13.00 but they didn't seem to have our table despite an email confirmation, after a bit of shuffling we had a few drinks and went to the bar to order, he meal was such a disappointment, which is a shame as it once had great food! Over cooked roast meals swimming in gravy to cover it up, cold sweet veg and Yorkshire pud and crackling was a lump of soft fat so not in sight. We then had to ask a few times to get our table cleared! Decided to take our drinks to the park to finish our day to get away from non existent service and poorly managed lunch! It's a shame, I'll drink there again but not eat.
