We were staying opposite the Hope and Anchor and had to call the police as the people kept my kids awake and didn’t care about the noise. It was 1.30am two nights in a row. Do not go to this pub

At first, the pub seemed quite old fashioned but nice on our first visit. The landlady seemed quite miserable, though, and the regulars were the sort of people that seemed a bit unused to seeing strangers in their pub. They looked over a lot and mumbled amongst themselves. The highlight of our second visit was a large woman standing at the bar gleefully telling the man standing next to her "she's only getting one!" When my partner was just getting a drink for me and not one for herself. She obviously thought I was out of earshot. Weird all in all, but I'd probably go again even if it's just to make their lives more bit more interesting for a while.

A true locals pub in the back street by Waitrose, Tends to be more of a cider pub and by that I don't mean the icy fizz with strawberry in it. Proper cider. Still, strong and a bit cloudy. Can get a bit animated at chucking out time. The beer is often a bit acidic as it doesn't sell.

This pub is not only one of the last true remaining pubs in Dorset, but the whole of England. It is a proper drinkers pub with bags of character. Sue and Flash: the landlord and landlady are friendly, down to earth and run a traditional pub in a traditional way. Swedes of regular customers who look at it as a second home; a happy place where all are welcome and all are merry. Don’t come to this pub expecting the boring over-priced same old polished, characterless palmers pubs with terrible beer and little feeling of what a traditional pub should be. Come to The Hope And Anchor, a trip down memory lane where people who find what pubs used to and should be but very rarely are. I urge any tourist from the UK or overseas who want to find a real pub to visit here. Long live and love (which spellcheck appropriately swapped live to) The Hope And Anchor!

This used to be a wonderful locals' pub, tatty but full of atmosphere. The present tenants have exerted their own ideas, redecorated and torn the heart and soul from the place. During lockdown the landlord has being doing some DIY to make the pub Covid-19 safe. The result is a good screen around the bar, but ludicrous division of round tables with perspex, like wedges in a Trivial Pursuit game. Expensive drinks. You're better off at the local Wetherspoons or one of the other Bridport drinking dens, such as The George, the Rope Makers or the Pursuit of Hoppiness

What a dump! The haunt of people who like to bully passers-by in order to stop them walking along the road opposite the pub. I have video proof of some of the regulars videoing me as I walked home, bragging as they did so that I would have to move out of Bridport purely because these vile men had videod me!. One of them was issued with a PIN by the police for harassment of me. I have a voice recording of the landlady shouting abuse at me across the street as I walked home. I also have voice recordings of another regular, my neighbour, shouting abuse at me from the pub in order to try to stop me walking along the street on the other side of the road in order to get home. The police issued him with a written warning for harassment of me. Fancy a fight? Fancy bullying innocent passers-by? Then this is the pub for you. Decent people I suggest you go elsewhere, as Bridport has far better to offer.

Lease for sale sign outside. Not surprising, on entering most of the clientele/locals just stare at you and though it looks like a cosy little local with character, it is pretty worn out. Undaunted we stayed for a drink though it was the most expensive so far in Bridport. Leave it to the locals.

A street corner local's pub situated behind Waitrose. Whitewashed walls and new signage make you think you are in for a treat. No. Not at all. Landlady has only been known to crack a smile when she breaks wind. Beer on draught is usually vinegar. A good few rough ciders which is good to see but sadly the clientele appear to have been in there drinking since 11am - and it's nearly closing time! On the odd occasion I have ventured in for a beer there has usually been a fight waiting to happen. Local pikey haunt. OK if you're a Millwall supporter but don't bother if you want to leave with all ears intact. Pricewise it is extortionate! The first £4 pint in the town was served here. Should be giving it away.

This pub situated in a backstreet off Bridport's West Street a stone's throw from Waitrose car park used to be the perfect watering hall some years ago when local character Val ran it. Since then it has had its ups and downs, but it retains its legacy of good real ales and ciders.Food is limited to bar snacks, served from 11-2pm and from 6.30-9.30pm. The exception is Sunday, when a Sunday roast is served between the relatively narrow window of 12-3pm. It would be nice to see Sunday lunch served all day.The pub is very dog friendly, and for those who enjoy traditional pub games there is table skittles (a real rarity these days), darts and a pool table in the back room. This pub deserves to be a Bridport institution!

Great Fish and chips . Don’t take cash .It is legal tender in UK ,why not? Lunch atmosphere ruined by screeching loud vocalist. Could not hold conversation with friend . Would have thought in such a place as Poundbury grand piano and smooth music would be more appropriate or something similar . Couple on next table were like minded .They could not speak either

Since my last review on Costa Coffee, Copper Street, Brewery Square, Dorchester the management has changed. The Store Manager there at the moment isn’t nothing like the last one. She has been late several times wen she is supposed to be there on time, turns up wen she feels like it, relies on other members of staff to do her job for her, cuts staff hours, gets members of staff to train trainees wen she should be doing it. If, she’s not committed to do her job properly, she shouldn’t be the Store Manager. Bring in someone who interacts with the customers, friendly, and invites the customers back. Very disappointed in Costa this time round, the Area Manager should consider the next Store Manager.

Very grubby inside and out. Dirty floors that haven’t been swept for a month (by the looks), had a latte which was like hot milk, no taste of coffee and very pale looking. Paintwork outside looks tired and needs a makeover, very disappointing visit, far nicer coffee shops to go to, needs a good clean, repainting and a good barrister.

Relaxed atmosphere with excellent service and blown away by the food. The fish pie was scrumptious. Full of fish in a delicious sauce with a light potato topping. Served with delicious buttered greens. Would highly recommend.
