Costa Coffee in West Dorset

Since my last review on Costa Coffee, Copper Street, Brewery Square, Dorchester the management has changed. The Store Manager there at the moment isn’t nothing like the last one. She has been late several times wen she is supposed to be there on time, turns up wen she feels like it, relies on other members of staff to do her job for her, cuts staff hours, gets members of staff to train trainees wen she should be doing it. If, she’s not committed to do her job properly, she shouldn’t be the Store Manager. Bring in someone who interacts with the customers, friendly, and invites the customers back. Very disappointed in Costa this time round, the Area Manager should consider the next Store Manager.

Ordered a takeaway salted caramel frappe the person that made my drink was clearly stressed as she was also teaching a new member of staff, when I got back to my car to have my drink it didn't taste the same which is then I realised she had not added the caramel sauce, to far too walk back so ended up throwing it away, it's a shame as never had issue before

Set on the corn Hill , which is the fully pedestrian street in Dorchester,this Costa is the one diagonally opposite the large Boots chemist store. More seating than the premises looks like from the front...past the counter there is a LOT of seating, also huge upstairs that's spacious,calm. Toilets clean . Would I go there again...yes.

What have they done to the pastries in this places? I hope it’s not all costas. £2.40 for an over cooked pain au chocolat. And the chocolate twists?!? They’re awful! Used to be such a nice treat now it’s day light robbery for Over cooked sub standard pastries. Only idiots will pay those prices. Greggs have bigger and better cooked at a fraction of the price. Get your coffee here but don’t buy the pastries.

First time in Dorchester Costa It was a friends get together. The staff were friendly and happy and helpful. The place clean and tidy and the environment good . The food and drink well prepared and hot . I will definitely go there again .

Dirty tables, wrong order... and took ages... and it wasn't busy ! Two Hot Chocolates, two coffees, two little rocky roads nearly £25 😳

Nice Costa which has recently been updated. It does always seem short staffed though which can make it a tricky task for the baristas.

Costa’s coffee is one of my favorite coffee shops. One can find them in every corner of UK. The coffee here was as good as it is at Costa coffee and the staff is very friendly and helpful. The newly renovated shop is clean and hygienic and looks very decent. Costa serves one of the best coffee.

Visited Christmas Eve, so very busy. It has 2 floors so finding a table was easy. Staff very pleasant and helpful.

Very quiet as I went in early but the service was excellent and my sugar free gingerbread, decaf, oat milk latte was delicious. I also ordered a mince pie as, well, it is almost Christmas! Very good around, competitively priced but not cheap.

Popped in on a wet and windy day to have a cup of tea and bacon butty as usual it's a nice treat a chance to avoid the weather

All the staff are far too busy talking then worrying about the customers, stood around and more concerned about other things, took 15 minutes then got told we would have the other drink bought over to us but when I went up they had forgot to bother making it, won’t be returning. Disappointing from a regular costa customer.

Ordered a decaf americano with soy milk and a flat white with skimmed, received a non decaf americano with skimmed and a flat white with soy. Can only assume the staff were still half asleep and a quiet Sunday morning. They did remake the americano for me even after swearing it was soy milk, luckily I'm not lactose intolerant.

It's a Costa, this one was pretty busy, staff were friendly and listened to what we required which was nice. I see these as more of a treat nowadays though as prices are a bit high, especially for food

The place has a general air of uncleanliness with tables left dirty and uncleaned. Wanted to take grandchildren to the loo, but the downstairs toilets were in a disgusting state. Complained and advised to use the upstairs ones which were supposedly being cleaned. These were even worse and the cleaner said that she hadn't even started on them! On top of that, no medium cups had been washed up so had to have a huge cappuccino, which I did not want even if I was not charged extra. We will certainly never return and I advise others to avoid.

We visited Costa in Dorchester Town Centre for a coffee which was only like warm and were very surprised at how fifthy the place was including the toilets we will certainly not return

Visited Costa coffee in Dorchester Town with my granddaughter, after coffee we wanted to use the toilets.... They were absolutely disgusting, so bad we didn't use them. Mentioned it to the staff who were not interested and smiggered at my comment. Needless to say we will not be returning.

Stood in queue for approx 10 mins. Got to the front of queue (with 5 people in queue behind me), only to be told there would be a wait as they had to concentrate on on-line orders. They lost our order!

Great service, very busy in the time I was there. public areas were clean and the tables cleaned and sanitised as people left. Very friendly staff.

About the same number of staff as customers so a pity we needed to clear a table ourselves when staff seemed very happy chatting together. Nice coffee though.

Filthy loo downstairs… made me gag. No such thing as a quiet coffee when in an almost empty shop, child playing on electronic game so loudly I couldn’t concentrate on my book. Saved from one star only by friendly member of staff who served me.

Post card writing with cold drinks on a warm Spring day. Cool fresh drinks, refreshing.

Great place for coffee, snacks and cakes etc. Staff are very good and friendly. Always ready to clear the and clean it for you. Dog friendly too.

£6.35 for a latte and cake, 1 person in front of me and it takes 15 minutes to get my coffee. It’s Wrong so has to be remade, it’s only 3:15 and the kids aren’t even out of school yet the tables as I walk in are covered in used cups and trays. Kids doing adult jobs clearly isn’t working as what looks like the manager is pinning stuff to the board whilst having a chat with another staff member.

The coffee was good, well up to usual standard of Costa so would recommend this for take out. Dine in, not so much. Seemed to be a bit short staffed, so service a bit slower than expected. Store looked tired and worn. Toilets were not as clean as we would expect but usual.

I love going to different coffee shops but this one is by far my favourite. Quick, friendly service and a spacious seating area. The staff on a Saturday morning are incredibly kind, I am always served with a friendly smile and good conversation. The seating areas are always clean and it is overall a great place to socialise, read, or do work.

Dirty and rude staff. Not just rude staff but they propositioned my partner in front of me.

New manager has done a great job, very nice staff.

This was our 1st visit to this Costa and I want to say it won't be our last when we are in the area again. We went in while waiting for our car to be serviced to have a coffee. I wanted a round of toast but unfortunately there was none so the lady offered me a toasted t cake. So pleased she suggested it as we both throughly enjoyed it. When we came out I ask a member of staff for her name so I could give her a big shout out. She was so nice, jolly and helpful. It was lovely to be treated like that. So this is for you Debbie. You do Costa proud love to have such a great member of staff Costa are very lucky, Merry Christmas to you. Im not a mystery shopper just someone that had to visit dorchester from Yeovil and wanted a Costa coffee. Take care all of you.

Good coffee but no WiFi and the toilet needed a clean.

Had coffee plus toasted sandwich not long wait.

The coffee is good but the place was dirty, tables, floors... first thing in the morning. The staff ... Very slow .. no mood for work except for this asian dude and this tall curly hair dude trying to keep it together.

Lovely place for a coffee break and a delicious lemon curd tart!🙂

Have had lovely service in here before from a very lovely lady who was patient and kind with my indecisive kids. Unfortunately the toilets are disgusting though. They clearly aren't cleaned enough or are cleaned by someone who has no idea how to do it! We chose to go to a public toilet instead. Disgusting for a cafe.

We go for a coffee everyday and love it there, polite staff and feel safe which is good, will be going again tomorrow

Quite quiet this morning. Served fairly quickly and drink up to standard. Place seemed very clean and staff polite.

Great for a quick snack and coffee/tea/hot chocolate and also great for a desert /meal of sugariness and coffee/tea/hot chocolate

Still only takeaway but the food and drink choices excellent. Plenty of staff on duty so service was quick.

Had a wonderful coffee in my lunch brake, but would have enjoyed a Stella! Perhaps you could team up with Stella Artois and create a fusion of coffee and Stella Artois! I can assure you I’d be your best costumer!

My friend ordered a cup of tea and asked very politely if the teabag could be removed. Not an unreasonable request.The server, an older lady, seemed very put out by this. She watched as my friend attempted to remove the teabag with her fingers which of course was very hot. She never offered a spoon or saucer to put the teabag on. My friend then asked if they had a bin. The woman told her she would need to use the one round the corner. It was too hot for my friend to carry so she took the cup with her. The server then said she was not allowed to let people walk off with a cup without a lid. She did not seem concerned about the boiling water when watching my friend having to fish out the teabag with her fingers. Why she was being so deliberately unhelpful and didn't just remove the teabag we just couldn't understand. Seems from other reviews we are not the only ones. It was all so ridiculous we ended up laughing about it. Perhaps there is a no teabag removal policy at this Costa. Many other coffee shops with much nicer service, that we will be using :)

Costa in Dorchester is lovely, clean and they are always helpful and happy.

Didn't think the speciality drinks were anything special but cheaper than starbucks and very covid safe set up in this Costa store.

The staff are very friendly in there and the food and drinks are really nice. Toilets are very clean and tidy .

Incredible experience. Staff were great, very friendly and polite. service was quick and social distancing managed very well. Very happy with my experience.

Bit dark at the back of the cafe. Expensive treat. Good selection of food and drinks. Wish they get more banana bread, often sold out. Nice basic place to rest after doing some shopping. The staff are helpful. Plenty space for any mums with prams and ideal for wheelchair users

Having read covid instructions, I queued and my husband found a table (as only one person from same household allowed to queue). After ordering, the customer in front of me then began berating me for asking my husband to take a table ahead of him and two children. I pointed out the instructions but the staff said they didn’t know which instruction I had read and another said those instructions had changed- who knew... I cancelled my order as I was very upset and we both left. Disgusting that staff don’t know what their ‘rules’ are. And that they allow one customer to speak to another in this way. Highly recommend The Posh Partridge where the staff were excellent.

It's a Costa so nothing revolutionary. All the local tea rooms appear to be shut. Friendly staff! Good coffee

Good coffee and polite, friendly service. Environment drab and in need of TLC. Tables not cleared, chairs stained and uncomfortable especially upstairs. With plenty of better coffee shops in Dorchester it needs a change.

Coffee was really nice however they have now cheaped out on the bacon rolls which are very fatty and they don't get cooked for long enough in the combi oven. Would recommend for a good quality cup of coffee but would not recommend this chain for bacon rolls.

This new martial arts and fitness gym is amazing and the coaches are so positive my daughter loves the classes there. Highly recommended 💯👏

OK it's a Costa, so you know what to expect. Predictable coffee and variety of sweet & savoury snacks at reasonable High Street prices. What differentiated the visit for was the friendly staff, who gave a complimentary gingerbread man to our 3 year old granddaughter. I realise we're biased, and she is normally good when out with us, but to be noticed and rewarded for her behaviour was unexpected and a nice personal touch.

Busy but the upstairs was very quiet, fast service and good coffee

12/10 early morning Dorchester high street. Adam and someone else working, (sorry forgot name) just want to say their customer skills are exceptionally good. Always say good morning, ask how your day is, very effcient and make a good cup of coffee. Makes for a good start to the day, recommend this place.

Having 2 floors makes this Costa well worth a visit as it is so relaxed. Makes a visit to dorchester relaxing.

Every time we go to Dorset we go to this one on the way out. its just costa. the only thing that differentiates it is they ave a box of toys for the children which is a nice touch!

Enjoyed an early morning Coffee and toast whilst making a delivery over the road. Pleasant clean cafe but there was only one member of staff rushing to please everyone, bless her.

Goid pull in one to have a toilet break and coffee

We like Costa Coffee as we can rely on the excellent flat white coffee which it produces. In England, coffee is often dreadful but here we can be sure of something good! The staff work incredibly hard and are very quick. The tables perhaps could be cleaned and tidied up more often. However, the one thing which lets it down are the loos. There was one unisex/disabled loo downstairs which didn’t look very clean. Attention should be given to that.

The tables were grubby and the floor looks like it has not been cleaned for a long time. But the service was very good. Got my food within 5 minutes.

I like the coffee despite myself meaning to cut down. Im glad they do a reduction for your own cup. The one next to the train station is so handy. They could still cut back on plastics hence 4 *

Not impressed with this Costa. Girl on her own and struggling. Tables uncleared due to that. Had ho ckear my own table and wipe it with a napkin from previous occupant as there wete no clean ones anywhere!!!

Usual good coffee choice and service but the whole place could do with a refurb.....it was a bit drab and appeared uncared for.
