Went with friends ad a great meal

I came with my family to try their food and I must say one of the worst experiences I’ve ever had they brought my food 45 minutes late alongside it being cold the chef came out and was very rude and spoke to my son with a disrespectful manor, I found a hair in my food and when I asked them to change it they told me to just take it out and continue to eat my meal. One of the worst experiences!!!! DO NOT COME HERE JUST A WASTE OF MONEY

Small but snug. Always a really interesting crowd and good live music. Feels more original and authentic than anything in the centre of Richmond. Surprisingly good Caribbean food. Was not expecting that!

I had the pleasure of eating at The Hope today for the first time and I will be returning very soon. The staff were friendly and the food was amazing! Everything was cooked fresh and good size portions. Excellent value for money.

Would highly recommend a visit. The food is excellent! (Cauliflower wings are a must!) The staff were very welcoming and it was a lovely friendly and relaxed atmosphere. Will definitely be returning! Ps - loved the ‘healthy’ segment of Terrys Orange!

A genuine gem, a short walk from Richmond Station. Ideal for pre- and post- International Rugby at Allianz Stadium. Good selection of beers and food, with regular activities in the evening during the week, including music and comedy. I had food from the Caribbean menu, starting with very tasty chicken wings, followed by curry goat. Service was quick, friendly, and reasonably priced. It is a great option as a drinking venue, just a few minutes away from Richmond's usual pubs.

Family Sunday Lunch, Carribbean style; challenge accepted. There are various "Jerk" meats along with a curried goat and surprisingly an escovich fish choice on the menu. The portions are generous so I suggest that you either forgo a starter or wear stretchy pants. As it was my first time I had to have a starter/; the menu was boasting "saltfish cakes" and "rum BBQ wings". Each Carribbean island has its own variation of saltfish cakes, These were more "doughey" to what I'm used to and lacked "saltfish" hence the bland flavour. I'm sure that they would suit someone else's palette but I was disappointed. The main event was very good, Everyone in my party chose the Jerk chicken or lamb and I had the curried goat. The "curry goat" had that true authentic flavour that I grew up with. The jerk lamb was an interesting dish, it sounds wrong but worked so well, the lamb was succulent and the jerk mint sauce was the detonator for the taste explosion. I didn't get to try the jerk chicken, but the empty plate and look of satisfaction from the guest that did indicates that it was on par with the goat and lamb. I've already made plans for a weekday visit to try the rest of the menu.

Very cold in there ,took half an hour for a starter… maybe more still waiting . also didn’t like the attitude of the manager. Won’t be returning

Possibly the best pub in Richmond, definitely the warmest welcome. What I love about it (amongst other things) is there is always something interesting and exciting going on - whether it's music or comedy - and don't get me started on the staff. They should have their own show. I've often left items there - it gives me the perfect excuse to go back - not that I really need one. If you're visiting Richmond for the first time, check it out. If you live in the area and haven't had the pleasure, check it out. You won't regret it.

Left my glasses there and called them. They said they’d found them and would keep them safe, so was relieved. When I got there a few weeks later (don’t live in London) they said they’d given my glasses away to a random person. They literally were chuckling. Rudest behaviour from staff I’ve ever encountered. After they told me they literally just walked off. As I left I said thank you and goodbye, they fully ignored and now I’m tying this outside the pub. I think the first time I’ve ever left a review like this. Don’t go. Note: Bar Manager on the night I was there before was sound, really nice guy.

Aunque tuve que ir al bar y quejarme antes de que tomaran medidas. Sin embargo, esta comida para 9 personas se reservó con SEMANAS de antelación y tener que esperar casi dos horas para una comida es una vergüenza. Parecía un buen pub de otro modo estropeado por una experiencia gastronómica horrible.

Waited 1 hour 50 minutes for a main course last night which is completely unacceptable. Ordered at 7:55pm arrived at 9:45pm. Food when it came was overdone and average. Too much sauce, rice not fresh. Staff handled it professionally enough and were very friendly and articulated it was a kitchen problem. Albeit I had to go to the bar and complain before they took action. Nonetheless this meal for 9 people was booked WEEKS in advance and to have to wait almost two hours for a meal is a disgrace.Seemed like a nice pub otherwise spoiled by a horrific dining experience.

Great value for money, the Caribbean Sunday roast was good, with generous portions. We had the jerk lamb and the jerk chicken. The service was friendly, lovely owner and a relaxed atmosphere & great to have the Original Flava residency in West London. The Hope has excellent public transport links and is just a short walk from Richmond station which has the District line, overground and South Western railway lines. Looking forward to going back.

I visited on Sunday mainly to try the Original Flava food and I was not disappointed! I got the lamb roast. It was cooked to perfection and the portion size was so big I had to take the rest home. Great atmosphere, very friendly staff . Thanks for a great Sunday afternoon

I came down to the Hope with my Family after Church. I had an amazing time. Food was incredible, presentation with great and service really good. The Sunday roast was the best I’ve ever had! I will definitely be back. Matt who served us was really attentive and always check if we were ok. Thank you :)

Where do I start? On arriving I was met by big smiles and laughter. The staff are incredibly, friendly, warm and welcoming. The decor is amazing and you don’t feel like you’re in richmond. Then there is the food if you want delicious, authentic Caribbean food look no further!!! The portion sizes are “wham”, there is enough to fill you up and then some. Sooooo happy Original flava has taken over the kitchen!

Great venue and service, but the food was not a good batch. I had the salt fish fritters for a starter, but they were too salty. Saltfish needed another round of soaking. For mains I had the curry goat with rice and peas. The flavour was right, but the meat was tough and needed another hour of cooking. Also needed more gravy. I bought the Flava guys book for my girlfriend and I think the guys are doing great things. I would like to think that I got a bad batch of food and my experience today is not the norm.

10/10 experience.The Caribbean roast dinner and food from the collaboration with Original Flava is absolutely incredible, to top it off the service and the staff were so friendly and accommodating that I cannot recommend this pub enough, especially for a Sunday roast. Just had a banging Sunday lunch with a Caribbean twist. Lots of meat and plenty of gravy. Good seats for our large group and friendly staff.

Delighted to see this return to a pub, so went in to give it a go. Loved it! Whole team is very friendly and the beer is great quality. Plus having been a members club for a while, they've done a nice job on the interior. Have now tried the pub quiz on a Wednesday and the live music on a Friday too - all enjoyable and great to see them trying to put on a range of fun stuff. Had been looking for a friendly boozer in Richmond and very happy to recommend it.

Went for early cocktails. Lovely bar. But expensive. I thought 23 quid for 2 hugo spritz, both with just a dash of fizz, way over priced. Oposite in Rock & Rose the same drink, only £8:45. One bar full, the other one empty 🤷‍♀️. Only stayed for one as we thought drinks were too pricey.

My first ever pub experience as an American was wonderful. The owner is so friendly and funny. Beautiful atmosphere. Highly, highly recommend.

Lovely little pub we stumbled across. Very cosy inside seating area and nice outdoor area also. Staff are very friendly and attentive and know how to pour a good Guinness. They have board games you can play whilst having a drink, and on Saturdays, they play great live music. 5* pub highly recommend :-)

A great pub in the heart of Richmond. Such an incredible atmosphere. We enjoyed an evening with Live music. Everyone was having a wonderful time. Special shout out to Michael and James who went above and beyond by providing great service and making everyone feel welcome. We'll be back again soon!

Went there for a pub quiz and it was a great atmosphere which made for a memorable night. Definitely coming back!!!

The pub has a wonderful interior design and it's obviously very recently renovated and well kept. The bathrooms in particular were very spacious and clean. The garden is a definite highlight. The only disappointment was that the beer/drink selection was fairly basic even though something more elevated would have been expected given the space. Very friendly and welcoming staff

Lovely little local vibe pub, great fresh sandwiches, with their fillings produced in house, the gammon sandwich was incredible and you can tell theyre passionate about the flavour! The staff are also very friendly and welcoming.

Amazing spot we stumbled upon for lunch. Delicious sandwiches. The Grilled cheese was bursting with melty 3 cheese filling and the gammon was delicious. Lovely service from the manager and bar staff.

I happened to be passing and was surprised to find it's functioning as a pub again after a spell as a private member club. The bar is lovely and I hadn't realised how much nice outdoor space it has at the back. The new landlord seems a good bloke.

Walked past and saw that The Hope was open again. What great news! A warm welcome, and a pint after a hard day at the office (actually a restaurant in Richmond, but you get my point) If you haven't tried it, please check it out - it's great. And the garden at the back is amazing.

Decided to pop in to The Hope as it has recently reopened as a pub after being a private club for a time. Lovely welcome from the pleasant barman. Really nice ambience about the place with a tasteful, stylish interior. The rear terraced garden is well furnished with comfy sofas and chairs. Definitely worth a visit...

I’ve passed this venue many times over the course of time and seen it take a few guises. I recall it being a pub and then more recently a members club. I happened to go last today and it had been renamed to what it had been before the members club and it looked opened to all. I popped there for a pint and the people behind the bar were friendly and put a lot of attention into keeping the place clear of glasses and cleaning tables which is always nice to see. They clearly are taking pride in the place. The garden was nice too and it was very smart inside. The beer selection was decent and it was a pleasant visit. Nice to see this place open to all!

This pub is under new ownership and has just recently reopened. Five stars for the customer service and the atmosphere. The bartenders/ owners greet you with a smile and are very attentive! The place has been refurbished and doesn’t look anything like the pictures in the reviews. It very trendy and stylish, and of course, clean! The prices are very very affordable, and on the low side for the area. And they have live music every Friday. Please do stop by if in the area!

Largest and nicest pub garden in Richmond. Top beers and wine.

Keeps undergoing work updates but with the history of the pub it's always worth the visit. The Shaftbury Tavern is located next door and between the two they are busy. MP

It's just meh. It's expensive. The pub is dark and cramped. The outside is worn out and over grown. The pub next door is day over night nicer in my opinion

Quiet pub just out of the main Richmond town center (5-10 mins from the station). Nice environment, friendly staff. Was an open-mike night on the Friday evening we were there, which was pretty good. Will be coming back. Lost a star for the fruit flies.

The Hope is a nice pub/pizzeria just 5 minutes from Richmond train/tube station. The venue developed this combination concept (pub/pizzeria) working quite well if you are opened to new experiences. There is a large outdoor back garden with a funny 50's style "Ape Piaggio", the three-wheeled small vehicle based on a vespa scooter, with an incorporated wood fired pizza oven. The place has a great relaxed vibe,is dog friendly and the staff is polite. Good range of beers and the Pizza's menu includes few traditional pizzas and some innovative chef's creations and you can actually watch him while making pizza in front of you. Veggie options are also available and are quite tasty. They also offer traditional pub food with the usual sport watching. Prices are average for the area. I would recommend this place, though go with an open mind as this is not a traditional british pub.

I went to The Hope for a leavers lunch with colleagues from my office. The party was made up of thirteen people, having pre-ordered we all thought that the food would arrive pretty quickly. This is where our expectations were wrong, having waited 45 mins for our food to arrive, even though I oust add we were the only people in the pub at this point apart from the bar maid and the chef. I waited an hour and a half for My order (Bruschetta Pomodorini & chips).Eventually after the first hour I went up and spoke to the chef, asking him where my food was? Did he know how long it was going to take? The chef had no replies for my questions, instead looking blank and asking what order? This was rather disappointing after my colleague offered to pay for my lunch. When my order was finally ready I had to pick it up from the kitchen in a takeaway box because the chef was serving other people. When I opened my takeaway box I was shocked and rather angry to discover that what I had ordered was not in my takeaway box. Instead of the vegetarian option I ordered I was handed four slices of bread covered in cheese and meat with my chips. Really not impressed with the food service. However I will admit the Bar maid was wonderful, really chatty and genuine when speaking with her! Overall not happy at all with the food but was pleased with the bar staff.

Great selection of drinks and Pizza was just Real Authentic pizza... Really enjoyed in their garden on the back while you can actually watch the Chef making Pizza righr in front of you! I'll definitely be back for Sud Italia!

The Sud Italia team at the back produce some of the best pizza my wife and I have ever tasted! The kids loved the tables in the sheds in the garden.

Went here last night to watch champions league. Staff were very friendly and accommodating but the highlight for me was the pizza. They have a wood fire pizza in the beer garden area where they make authentic pizzas. The italian chef making these did not speak much english but he was very friendly and even made a pizza for everyone sat near him to sample. Will definitely be returning to try more of these as they were superb. My only complaint about the pub if you want to call it that is that their draught IPA/APA selection was poor. Tried both and they weren't very nice. if that changed i'd give 5 stars :)

Been here many times before as a venue for lunch on Twickenham match days, great spot, good drinks selection, staff really nice, but an hour and twenty minutes for 3 pizzas? Which I had to chase 3 times, what a disappointment

Stumbled into this lovely pub on a Saturday as we were in Richmond and didn't really know where to go. We ended up staying here for hours, which is to say that we had a great time here. The garden is great, and the staff were really friendly even though the place was clearly busy. Had the football and rugby on but wasn't rowdy as you can expect at pubs, and I massively recommend the pizza, they're so good. Definitely visit!

Used to be an excellent friendly bar with great garden. Unfortunately now it has now become an expensive empty local bar with miserable staff, uncomfortable solid metal bar stools and expensive wine prices, £8.35 for a large glass of rose is ridiculous. They only serve pizza’s now but having seen the chef with cigarette in his mouth inside bar ( it wasn’t alight) no way would I order one. Such a shame this used to be a rocking good fun pub.

Since their launch of their new pizza menu, I have returned multiple times. This is one of the best pizzas I have ever had. All finished off nicely with a G&T! (Or two)

Probably the most expensive beer & glass of wine I've ever bought. Wine wasn't great so asked if we could change for another and was abruptly told no as it was a waste of wine!

Another lovely place, great crowd on New Year's Eve. Always has good bands on for entertainment.
