The pub has a wonderful interior design and it's obviously very recently renovated and well kept. The bathrooms in particular were very spacious and clean. The garden is a definite highlight. The only disappointment was that the beer/drink selection was fairly basic even though something more elevated would have been expected given the space. Very friendly and welcoming staff

Lovely little local vibe pub, great fresh sandwiches, with their fillings produced in house, the gammon sandwich was incredible and you can tell theyre passionate about the flavour! The staff are also very friendly and welcoming.

Amazing spot we stumbled upon for lunch. Delicious sandwiches. The Grilled cheese was bursting with melty 3 cheese filling and the gammon was delicious. Lovely service from the manager and bar staff.

I happened to be passing and was surprised to find it's functioning as a pub again after a spell as a private member club. The bar is lovely and I hadn't realised how much nice outdoor space it has at the back. The new landlord seems a good bloke.

Walked past and saw that The Hope was open again. What great news! A warm welcome, and a pint after a hard day at the office (actually a restaurant in Richmond, but you get my point) If you haven't tried it, please check it out - it's great. And the garden at the back is amazing.

Decided to pop in to The Hope as it has recently reopened as a pub after being a private club for a time. Lovely welcome from the pleasant barman. Really nice ambience about the place with a tasteful, stylish interior. The rear terraced garden is well furnished with comfy sofas and chairs. Definitely worth a visit...

I’ve passed this venue many times over the course of time and seen it take a few guises. I recall it being a pub and then more recently a members club. I happened to go last today and it had been renamed to what it had been before the members club and it looked opened to all. I popped there for a pint and the people behind the bar were friendly and put a lot of attention into keeping the place clear of glasses and cleaning tables which is always nice to see. They clearly are taking pride in the place. The garden was nice too and it was very smart inside. The beer selection was decent and it was a pleasant visit. Nice to see this place open to all!

This pub is under new ownership and has just recently reopened. Five stars for the customer service and the atmosphere. The bartenders/ owners greet you with a smile and are very attentive! The place has been refurbished and doesn’t look anything like the pictures in the reviews. It very trendy and stylish, and of course, clean! The prices are very very affordable, and on the low side for the area. And they have live music every Friday. Please do stop by if in the area!

Largest and nicest pub garden in Richmond. Top beers and wine.

Keeps undergoing work updates but with the history of the pub it's always worth the visit. The Shaftbury Tavern is located next door and between the two they are busy. MP

It's just meh. It's expensive. The pub is dark and cramped. The outside is worn out and over grown. The pub next door is day over night nicer in my opinion

Quiet pub just out of the main Richmond town center (5-10 mins from the station). Nice environment, friendly staff. Was an open-mike night on the Friday evening we were there, which was pretty good. Will be coming back. Lost a star for the fruit flies.

Lovely garden area at back, nice friendly staff

The Hope is a nice pub/pizzeria just 5 minutes from Richmond train/tube station. The venue developed this combination concept (pub/pizzeria) working quite well if you are opened to new experiences. There is a large outdoor back garden with a funny 50's style "Ape Piaggio", the three-wheeled small vehicle based on a vespa scooter, with an incorporated wood fired pizza oven. The place has a great relaxed vibe,is dog friendly and the staff is polite. Good range of beers and the Pizza's menu includes few traditional pizzas and some innovative chef's creations and you can actually watch him while making pizza in front of you. Veggie options are also available and are quite tasty. They also offer traditional pub food with the usual sport watching. Prices are average for the area. I would recommend this place, though go with an open mind as this is not a traditional british pub.

Rude and not attentive staff. I have been attracted to the place as it looked quiet and decent. Now I know why it was quiet.

I went to The Hope for a leavers lunch with colleagues from my office. The party was made up of thirteen people, having pre-ordered we all thought that the food would arrive pretty quickly. This is where our expectations were wrong, having waited 45 mins for our food to arrive, even though I oust add we were the only people in the pub at this point apart from the bar maid and the chef. I waited an hour and a half for My order (Bruschetta Pomodorini & chips).Eventually after the first hour I went up and spoke to the chef, asking him where my food was? Did he know how long it was going to take? The chef had no replies for my questions, instead looking blank and asking what order? This was rather disappointing after my colleague offered to pay for my lunch. When my order was finally ready I had to pick it up from the kitchen in a takeaway box because the chef was serving other people. When I opened my takeaway box I was shocked and rather angry to discover that what I had ordered was not in my takeaway box. Instead of the vegetarian option I ordered I was handed four slices of bread covered in cheese and meat with my chips. Really not impressed with the food service. However I will admit the Bar maid was wonderful, really chatty and genuine when speaking with her! Overall not happy at all with the food but was pleased with the bar staff.

Great selection of drinks and Pizza was just Real Authentic pizza... Really enjoyed in their garden on the back while you can actually watch the Chef making Pizza righr in front of you! I'll definitely be back for Sud Italia!

The Sud Italia team at the back produce some of the best pizza my wife and I have ever tasted! The kids loved the tables in the sheds in the garden.

Went here last night to watch champions league. Staff were very friendly and accommodating but the highlight for me was the pizza. They have a wood fire pizza in the beer garden area where they make authentic pizzas. The italian chef making these did not speak much english but he was very friendly and even made a pizza for everyone sat near him to sample. Will definitely be returning to try more of these as they were superb. My only complaint about the pub if you want to call it that is that their draught IPA/APA selection was poor. Tried both and they weren't very nice. if that changed i'd give 5 stars :)

Been here many times before as a venue for lunch on Twickenham match days, great spot, good drinks selection, staff really nice, but an hour and twenty minutes for 3 pizzas? Which I had to chase 3 times, what a disappointment

Stumbled into this lovely pub on a Saturday as we were in Richmond and didn't really know where to go. We ended up staying here for hours, which is to say that we had a great time here. The garden is great, and the staff were really friendly even though the place was clearly busy. Had the football and rugby on but wasn't rowdy as you can expect at pubs, and I massively recommend the pizza, they're so good. Definitely visit!

Used to be an excellent friendly bar with great garden. Unfortunately now it has now become an expensive empty local bar with miserable staff, uncomfortable solid metal bar stools and expensive wine prices, £8.35 for a large glass of rose is ridiculous. They only serve pizza’s now but having seen the chef with cigarette in his mouth inside bar ( it wasn’t alight) no way would I order one. Such a shame this used to be a rocking good fun pub.

Since their launch of their new pizza menu, I have returned multiple times. This is one of the best pizzas I have ever had. All finished off nicely with a G&T! (Or two)

Probably the most expensive beer & glass of wine I've ever bought. Wine wasn't great so asked if we could change for another and was abruptly told no as it was a waste of wine!

Another lovely place, great crowd on New Year's Eve. Always has good bands on for entertainment.

Had a very quick drink here and everything was fine. Sat out in the garden in a summer house that protected from the wind. Very pleasant. Didn't stay long enough to do a comprehensive review (and way there are only 4 stars) but nothing negative to report.

Some friends and I came here at the end of a Tuesday night and Steve was very acommodating and so helpful with drink choices etc. The place is very cosy and friendly and I thoroughly enjoyed my time there. A classic pub with an edge and friendly service!

I love this place! It’s nothing special but it’s a great little pub and now has amazing beach huts in the garden.

Nice pub but very slow Saturday night. Only one bar staff at 7-30-8:15.

I was first to arrive at the pub and not only just out of my friends. They only had one beer on and that was not a great pint of Timothy Taylor's Landlord. It is a cosy pub that only opens at weekends, so good for the rugby crowd. It slowly filled up during the lunch period but not so busy that we had to shout.

Under the last few tenancies The Hope has demonstrated how not to provide client service.

Had a really pleasant lamb roast here. They only do small dishes and roasts on Sundays, but they do have a good selection of beers - including from Timothy Taylor and Twickenham Fine Ales.

Great atmoshphere and fanatastic service!

Having arrived at the station later than planned, we did not have much time to queue at the more popular places to eat and drink so, using TA, walked around the corner and found this classic, but fresh Pub come Restaurant that was half full, welcoming with a good selection of beers and food to keep us going, the staff were all very accommodating, a very nice find to start our day of fun, will go again.

We went for a beer and to watch the rugby. The honey beer was great and the young waitresses provided excellent service. Please introduce sweet potato fries!

Lovely Pub, perfect Camembert. However, watching the football with music was spot on. Then the evening game came on and the music was switched off and the TV turned right up. Completely changed the place and not for the better

I had a friend visiting from Ireland, i wanted to show her a traditional cosy english pub. I came accross the Hope and booked us in for a Sunday Lunch. The food was amazing and the pub had a great atmosphere, beautifuly decoarted. The staff were really polite, friendly and really attentive! I would definitley reccomend!

Nice food for a decent price. The bar staff was proffesional and focused on a customer. I came with 2 friends. One of us choosen veg option as garden party pizza. The pizza was very good. The dough was crunchy and very tasty. I've choosen a full rack of ribs. The ribs was juicy and tender with quite good bbq sauce. Last of us have choosen buttermilk chicken burger. The bun was fresh very tasy with very good composition of vegetables. I can say all of us was happy and if will be near by we gonna pop in one more time.

Beers were not very good and just tasted wrong

Hope just about sums this place up, took my friend for a birthday lunch and were presented with the worst pies I have ever come across, watery, and just plain odd... there was even salad presented with the mash. Not a good combo. I asked for brown sauce and was told that the chef had to make it and it would take 4 minutes... What?! Upon complaining I was greeted by blank faces from both the waitress and the chef. I'm not sure they even understood what I was saying, I was just told it was all normal. All in all the experience was bizarre, the pub itself is lovely but the staff are a lack lustre squad of zero personalities. Sorry guys but there's so many other great places to go in Richmond, thankfully we found one, the Old ship and had another far superior meal there.

Recently held a birthday party at The Hope (drinks, canapés and dancing..), in their private room, and can't speak highly-enough of the venue - the room on the first floor was perfect (and has a great speaker system to plug into), the food was great and - most of all - the staff couldn't have done more to make the event hassle-free. Thoroughly recommended.

Ale excellent.. Wine list amazing and so reasonably priced for that quality. Bar staff amazingly informed, brilliantly pleasant and on the ball efficient..BUT NO WAY EVER Ever going back. Blasting I repeat BLASTING THE LOUDEST MUSIC EVER HEARD IN A PUB.. Remember chaps this is a pub not a club/disco..RIDICULOUS..avoid this place unless you want to lose your hearing..such a shame on what could be a great addition to the Richmond bar scene..

Fab little pub in Richmond, garden is great, really nice function room upstairs which has been the subject of a fair good night or two. Friendly staff, everyone was very welcoming when our local shut down and we all had to find another venue to frequent. Haven't tried the food but have seen it served and it looks pretty decent.

Have been visiting regularly to meet up with gay friends following closure of another pub. Found The Hope friendly & welcoming with great decor, sports TV, live music & good food. Looking forward to summer in the garden and perhaps some live cabaret in the main bar.

Such a great bar! Only recently started drinking here but between the staff and the great manager, I immediately felt at home! No request either big or small goes undenied and the beer is great to (great job who ever does the lines) have no problem going down for a pint on my own after a hard days work as I know I'll be made welcome with a smile and a conversation! Bravo Hope! You are one of a few pubs that takes the time to make people feel welcome rather than be interested in taking there money and not give a Dam! I'll be back!!

Absolutely fantastic since its redecoration under new management. Food is excellent, range of beers is great. I particularly recommend the Meantime Yakima red. Diana and her team are the friendliest and most welcoming you'll find in Richmond. The recent tastefully refurbished rear garden is certainly going to be a hit this summer. A great, friendly place to relax with a drink and grab a bite to eat.

I chose the upstairs function room at The Hope for my 50th birthday party - what a great decision. The room was ideal for 40 guests and Diana, the Manager, was the perfect host for the evening, making sure that everyone had all the food and drink they needed. The buffet was of a far superior standard to most typical pub buffets and the chef was happy to modify the dishes to ensure that we could deal with the various dietary needs of our guests. We went back today, a week later, for Sunday lunch and really enjoyed the well chosen selection of real ales and craft beers, Sunday newspapers and Sunday lunch menu with a focus on locally sourced ingredients. Highly recommended - ideal if you're heading back to Richmond from Kew Gardens.
