THE HOP INN in Bournemouth

Had a fantastic over night stay with my son. Lovely atmosphere, staff were both welcoming and helpful. Food was amazing and our room was definitely deserving a gold star. Could not have asked for more.

A little expensive on prices as there are nearby pubs quite a bit cheaper and it's was notable this visit there was not as many people in compared to previous visits. But great for sports though!

A good local pub with good beer. A great antidote to the heaving mass of humanity in the town centre.

I popped in, or was that "hopped in" for a pint and was met by very nice staff and surroundings. I will definitely return.

We arrived in the morning so we decided to have brekkie, it was OK but all deep fried . When we booked into the hotel we asked if it was OK to look at the room before we paid this didn't seem a problem for the guy who showed us and then he just left us to it.we put our bags down on the beds when the door was knocked so hard it frighted us. We answered the door to who we now know was the owner he was very abrupt and told us that we need to go down and pay for our room. Taken back by this we (3 females) went down to pay and speak to the owner, he was very confronting and accused us of judging his business, he didn't want to listen to anything we were saying .he stood and watched me until I paid for the room and then he just walked away. Then reason I paid was because the room was suitable for us so none of his behaviour was needed in my opinion. The bath water was brown but apart from that it was just OK. WILL NEVER GO BACK THERE BE WARNED DONT ASK TO SEE YOUR ROOM FIRST .

❌ AVOID!!!! ❌ Checked in and asked the guy on reception to see the room before we paid, room was clean and good for what we needed. We were going straight back out so dropped our bags and used the loo before going down to pay for the room. We took less than 5mins- we got a BANG on the door to be greeted with The owner-AGGRESSIVE, RUDE & IGNORANT! Telling us to pay for our room! We went down and I tried to ask him why he was so aggressive and rude and he continued…. I think he thought he could intimidate us as we are all female. We ate breakfast the morning we arrived and it was awful. Greasy. I have given the room 3 stars- it was clean and tidy and comfortable beds. I WILL NOT EVER go back! Warning to all women- the owner is clearly a man who thinks he can treat women like that! Also- the bath water was brown!!!! And it’s very noisy in the morning. ❌ AVOID! ❌

DO NOT STAY HERE THE OWNER WAS VERY RUDE AND CONFRONTING BECAUSE WE WANTED TO LOOK AT OUR ROOM . BATH WATER WAS BROWN !!!!!!

Had a very nice evening meal here. Staff were great prices acceptable, more importantly real value for money.

The hotel rooms were great, so spacious and actually clean. With hotels in a pub, they could be a bit dirty or old but this place was an exception. The location was great as it’s only a 7 min walk. I do recommend visiting the Japanese and the thai restaurant near by too.

Was served an out of date peroni bottle gluten free which was out of date by 3 months, the bottle had mould around the neck. When I brought it to the attention of the bartender, it didn't even seem to phase her and no mention of it to her manager and I feel the situation wasn't taken seriously enough.

Rubbish service, terrible Sunday Roast. Not recommended at all.

We came across this pub from the beach. Nice location to sit and have a drink. We had dinner there one evening and that was also great.

Good location as in close to the beach and town centre. Lots of restaurants around. It's very noisy, though, as next to busy main road + you're staying above a pub. Our room was spacious enough. The bathroom was very disappointing. Sink clogged up. The shower is absolutely tiny, and you can't move in it. The shower door was broken so it wouldn't close properly. I can't wait to get home to have a proper shower. £450 for 3 nights, room only. I think we'll pass next time.

Lovely, friendly pub, dog friendly. We took our two sausage dogs. All very relaxed. Good drinks and food. Highly recommend.

We had booked a table for a party of 15, we were not asked to pre book our meal orders as some other restaurants have previously requested. We were seated in a very quiet family orientated area. It was remarkable that everyones meal came out in quick succession. It was hot, the staff were extremely attentive. If you're looking for good food, excellent value for money in a clean friendly environment the Hop is the place to book.

Exceptional all day breakfast. Even the pepper tasted great on my tomatoes. Good value and free coffee refills from the machine.

I am an amputee on crutches. Very attentive staff, bringing drinks and card machine to the table. Much appreciated.

Food(breakfast) was really bad, eggs were undercooked and really greasy. Toast and sausage didn’t taste nice,Hash browns were very greasy, Ketchup bottles on every table wasn’t filled up.Do not recommend

Very rough and ready local bar, glasses hung up over the bar are on show and very dirty ,I insisted on using same glass as it was now cleanest in the pub. But staff and customers friendly and chatted. Only reason I stayed for another drink

We stayed at the Hop Inn for 1 night in May. Staff were very friendly. Room was clean, warm and comfortable. Great shower. Dog friendly too. Would definitely recommend.

Great service and delicious full English breakfast that's served all day. Helpful staff and superb location by the beach.

We had a lovely stay, close to amenities, no need to drive anywhere. The shop outside is very convenient. Live music every night was a cherry on top.

I only visited the bar to catch a band, so this does not reflect the hotel. Lots of seating. Great local band (the Decatonics) played with a good amount of space to dance. Generic, but fairly expensive beers with the notable exception of two Sandbanks brewery beers, best and IPA.

Lovely little pub. Good food & live music on some nights ,karaoke on nights also. Only visited for drinks n food not sure on rooms but heard very good while there by guests.

Ok for a pint. Nicely kept beer including a local brew (Sandbanks) and a crafty offering (Wayland IPA). Clean, modern bar. Nothing offensive or outstanding to note. Just popped in for a pint as attending event- not staying in hotel. Food offering looks reasonable.

Stayed with my young family and the noisy pub below the “hotel” had karaoke on all night with some poor drunk murdering The Cranberries ‘zombie’. The floor was basically shaking all night. Do not stay here if you want a decent nights sleep as you won’t get one. The “hotel” doesn’t have a reception, you can just check yourself in at the bar. So disappointed as we’d had a great day at Bournemouth. Should have stayed at the Royal Exeter hotel where they at least warn you of the possibility of loud music all night. Hate leaving a poor review but a grumpy 4 year old being constantly woken up means we need to warn other young familles to steer clear. My advice ‘Hop Inn’ for a drink then run away.

Was recommended this place to go and watch sport by a local. The landlord was very accommodating and put the rugby league game on for us to watch. Can't comment on the food as we didn't eat there,though it did look nice.

Staying in the Travelodge down the road, I assumed this was just somewhere to get a cheeky pint. Once sat down I saw they did food and decided to order a Lasagne and Chips; and it was divine! Would definitely come again.

My wife and I went in for drink and had a pint of thatchers gold and a double vodka and tonic. I was charged, can you believe,£15.20. It was just a run of the mill place.Wetherspoons 5mins down the road 1/2 the price. If you go in the hop Inn, I recommend you hop out. AN ABSOLUTE RIP OFF

Great atmosphere plenty of variety of beers wines and spirits. Lots of television with sports shown.

Had the pleasure of staying there last year even if it was just a couple of nights. The rooms are bright, well furnished and clean. The food is excellent with options for everyone. The bar has a good selection of beers and largers and is set up for the sports fanatic with plenty of TV'S so you get a good view wherever you are and the staff are brilliant.

Good range of pub food at competitive prices, staff very attentive and the venue was very clean. Good range of beers on offer as well as multiple TV's showing live sports on the night we visited.

Only went to watch the football but the place was warm and welcoming and service was good. Nice selection of lager's on tap but seem like no real ales which is a shame

Very nice hotel, I only thing wrong was the shower door was broken other than that had a great time. Would definitely stay there again.

Stayed for meals only very quick service and great food friendly staff

i found the some of the staff were not helpful, lied about the parking for my vehicle (wasn't any). i had booked breakfast and told i was down for it. Room was full of cobwebs and flies flusher did not work or the table lights, sockets were placed too far away for devices. But the best part of my stay was leaving.

This was our second stop on our week away ideal location staff were friendly enough . Rooms need a bit of tlc and toilet brush replaced Breakfast was ok orange juice was like water and cups put me off having a cupper

We only had dinner here. They serve an average pub food, nothing special. We had scampi & chips, garlic bread, and rump steak with cheese. Steak wasn't easy to cut but the taste was alright. The prices are moderate. The location is good, closed to the sea-side.

Stayed in Bournemouth for the weekend and ate breakfast in the hop Inn both days we were there food was excellent and very friendly place to go the staff was excellent and very helpful definitely 5 stars

I had breakfast twice, once "all day breakfast" and "fried egg with bacon and toast and black pudding". Classic English breakfast, tasty, enough to eat. On the downside, old, worn-out cups, which could be replaced with new ones. It would also be good to update the prices on the menu in front of the restaurant to those on the premises.

Great service, good food, but a little bit expensive

Food is a good price & drinks are too. Service is pretty quick considering the amount of people in the pub. (visited on a Friday & Saturday during late afternoon / evening) staff are friendly which always makes all the difference.

For a budget one night stay, very clean, nice room. Parking wasn't best as air show weekend, but BIC carpark not far away. Good breakfast in the morning

When I went to the restaurant I was me and my boy how old are chicken chicken masala and my boy wood the chicken Burger with chicken chicken masala looks like comes from the supermarket brieheat and send it to me and the number at was exactly the same so for me no good

Was here for the weekend at a Jehovah Witness convention at the BIC. Came in for dinner and cup of tea everyday. Enjoyed the food very much, the service was good, and as a woman on her own, with a walker, I felt very comfortable being there, even on the Saturday, when football was on. Thank you for making me feel welcome 🙏

Great pub especially if you want to watch sport

£15.95 for a roast dinner that was bland, unseasoned and honestly boring. Peas, carrots and cabbage for veg and unflavored chicken, the only nice thing was the gravy, Yorkshire pudding and the salt I added. Oh and they forgot my stuffing which I doubt would have made a difference to be honest! It would have been a 2 star rating because my sticky toffee pudding for dessert was actually very pleasant, however my partners cheesecake and fruit topping was still frozen in the middle. Considering this place wasn’t very busy or had many food orders you would think that the quality would have been much better than it was. In total we spent over £50 on 2 dinners, desserts and Pepsi, oh and the Pepsi’s are £4!! Ridiculous!

Stopped here for a drink and bite to eat on a warm day. Great service at the bar and decent menu for food and drinks. Also some great (unintentional) entertainment as the hotel guests arrived!

Excellent hotel room. Very clean and comfortable, well worth the price. The staff are lovely too. I recommend the all day breakfast.

Quite a nice pub, came here for dinner one night. I had the Chicken, Ham and Leek pie while my Mum and Dad had Lamb Roast Dinner, Me and Mum had Orange Juice and my Dad had a Beer. The Pie and the Roast Dinners were lovely, tasted great, we really enjoyed dinner here. The Orange Juices were on draft but we actually really enjoyed them. 😁

Great for what you pay. Nice hotel with fairly large rooms (some with quite a few beds). Bathrooms big and clean. Great for a stag.

We only used the restaurant. The location was around the corner from were we were staying. The staff was great and so was the food 😋

Farther in law wanted a cup of tea, machine wasn't on, and not the cleanest. Pint of beer was ok, dog friendly.

The most horrible hotel in my life! The windows do not close. The child may fall out due to a low window sill. The room is terribly dirty. The hood does not work. The room is located near the road, very noisy. There is no air conditioning and it is very hot and stuffy. When we decided to move out earlier, we were denied a refund. I do not recommend this hotel to anyone!

Went here for my stag do, and most of the staff were great. The rooms were decent for the number of guys in each one and the location to the town centre was great as well. I appreciate that you can only eat and drink things that are bought on premises, but I'm convinced one staff member had a vendetta against me as I had a lucozade on me, other people were ignored who also had bottles of drink bought from the shop opposite, and I just kept getting told not to drink it as it weren't bough at the hop Inn. I mean, you've already had 100s-1000s off of us, and that's what she was locked into? Seriously, get a grip. Other than that, the place is decent, and every other part of the hotel and bar was great for the weekend 👍

the pub was located near to our apartment so was handy to pop into for a,quick drink although we did not eat there the menu looked good

Poorest breakfast to date... Cold beans, undercooked egg, burnt bacon and a coffee machine that dispensed under half a cup... Nice staff was the only redeeming feature.

So, the accommodation was reasonably priced and in a good location, the breakfast was well presented and the room was nicely furnished and clean. But and this is a very big but, if you want a good night's sleep (and why else would you book a room? ) this is definitely NOT the destination for you. The pub seems to be licensed to midnight and the noise, especially in the garden is excessive and will keep you awake, trust me, way after midnight, despite notices asking their customers to be quiet and considerate! On the night we stayed a group of youths appeared at around 8 o'clock having already consumed far too much alcohol. They continued to drink, whilst shouting in the garden until midnight. This reflects badly on the Landlord who should have refused to serve them, told them to behave and thrown them out of they did not comply. Needless to say this did not happen, which leaves me wondering how the Hopp Inn manage to keep their license. The local residence can never get any sleep. At midnight they were shouting and screaming in the street for at least half an hour before going to their room, continuing to scream and shouting obscenities in the process. Once in their room they played music until at least 3:30 am, again where was the landlord, why did he it take control of the situation and eject them? This ruined our night and I suspect our fellow guests. In summary very noisy and badly managed, my advice would be not to choose this pub/hotel.
