Great food, pleasant atmosphere 😊

We visited the spyglass and kettle for a last minute meal with the kids, I was a bit dubious as I wouldn't normally pick to eat in a pub restaurant with children, however I was pleasantly surprised with the lay out and it felt more 'restaurant' like than pub. Good choice of veggie options on the menu which was nice to see, and we particularly enjoyed the nacho sharer. The best thing about this place were the staff, they were friendly, polite and couldn't do enough for us including singing happy birthday and bringing out a cake. The restaurant and bar were fairly busy, but it didn't stop them from interacting with us and not feeling rushed to get in and out the door. Thank you Mahala, Oscar, Dylan, Pierra and Kristina, if we are in the area again we will be sure to pop in.

Always soo good , friendly staff nothing is too much trouble , fabulous food and lovely atmosphere , we really enjoy every visit . So family friendly and dogs so welcome , brilliant all round experience every visit . 🫶🏻

Celebrated a milestone birthday on Saturday night at the Spyglass & Kettle. Excellent friendly service from Mahala on a meal for six at a busy time on an early in the evening. Took some great photos of us.

Nice food....BUT...got the bill and a regular lemonade cost £3.85!!! I asked about it and apparently that's what they charge. Unbelievable.

Hi. I like to say the pie and the signature burger are yummy when I've been in. Food and presentation is great. Always busy in there! The staff are really friendly and the atmosphere is nice. Welcomed and friendly! It's also dog friendly too. Well done to everyone. Friday nights are good when a band is on and always busy.

Absolutely shocking quality food, wouldn’t feed it to my dog. Wait times are over 1hr for a bit of charcoal in an untoasted bun with microwaved pulled pork carelessly slapped on top. Avoid avoid avoid!! Seriously terrible place to eat or drink. Glasses are filthy. Only upside is the staff are very apologetic for the disgrace they call a food service. Other than that, i really seriously implore you to seek elsewhere to eat, this establishment is an utter disappointment.

I stayed here for one night as I had a work event and for the price I paid it was as I expected. The rooms could do we modernising but it was clean, comfortable and the towels were lovely (something I find is usually lacking in quality). I would recommend ear plugs if you're a light sleeper as the walls are very thin. The customer service was brilliant and thank you to the gentleman who offered to take our luggage and brought up the food we ordered to our room. The actual venue is in a fantastic location and I will certainly return when I'm in the area again for a drink, especially in the summer. The food was average and I only had some starters/sides.

Expensive breakfast for very poor qaulity food

Watery and tasteless red pepper houmous starter. Great chicken schnitzel and beef burger for mains. Booked in advance, added a note to say it was a 21st birthday lunch. Not one comment from the staff. Overall: disappointed

We have just had a wonderful Sunday roast at the Spyglass. We sat at table 3 and were served by a lovely waitress called Bianca. She was friendly and attentive and the food was piping hot and utterly delicious! Highly recommended.

Great coffee, warm welcome, dog friendly! Our dogs even got given treats! Will be back to try the food soon!

We booked a table, arrived, table taken, stuck on an isle table with inadequate space, or wait 1/2 hr more. Food portion was abysmal, smallest pub grub I’ve ever seen, Chaotic, below average pub when busy

Fabulous place, often busy as the food is so good. Could just do with less tall stools for those with kids, dogs and the elderly so more standard chairs please! It would be most helpful to get this without needing to book, as being a local there is a warmth about being spontaneous, especially when coming back from the beach in all weather's.

Traditional pub food, great staff and service

Arrived for Sunday lunch, it's a busy place but managed to find a table, 1 turkey roast, 1 turkey & beef roast, 2 drinks, 2 deserts just under £55, one of the drinks a passion fruit spritz cocktail, as it was flat and not very nice the bar staff changed. With the turkey roast you get 2 slices of turkey and some very nice veg, with the turkey & beef a slice of each, for me the beef was a bit fatty. Both deserts were lovely with proper custard. Overall really quite nice perhaps the only observation I'd make is the gravy, cauliflower, cranberry jelly & horseradish all came in ramekins served on the plate which took up a bit of room on the plate.

I've eaten here before and not had a wonderful experience but I thought I'd give it another go, but wish I hadn't. My meal was fish, chips & mushy peas.... the peas were not mushy & barely hot, the chips tasted horrible & the fist mouthful of fish was like eating a spoonful of oil, I scraped off the overly greasy batter and started to eat the fish, but stopped after 2 mouthfuls as it was barely warm. I didn't eat any more of the meal. I had to actually ask for a refund as the staff, although polite, did not offer me any recompense. I shall never eat here again & definitely don't recommend it.

I was disappointed today. The soup came warm so we sent it back but it came back warm again. We then changed our starters to the chicken strips which were good. I ordered sausages with creamy mash for my main. The sausages were anaemic looking and not brown and the mash looked like it had been put in the oven to keep warm and had a crust around it. Or they ran out of mash and scooped out a jacket potatoe. I don’t think I should have had to pay for my main course to be honest but waiter said that the chef said they will try and do better next time.

Great pub and location. We had brunch on a weekday, which was a traditional breakfast. The food was good and only let down by a poor quality sausage. Upgrading the sausage would make this a much better breakfast. Service was fantastic and the staff were very friendly. I'd recommend this pub.

Dogs are welcome, for this alone we'd have given a min of three stars 🤩 Food was good, although the service was a bit slow as the place was certainly not busy. However, when it came, the service was good and the staff helpful and polite. Worked out a nice place to stop and break up our journey, if we're ever back in the area we'd probably call in again.

I work as a support worker for people with learning difficulties and we had a large group of us come in for drinks and a meal. As they all have to pay separately and required a receipt for supported banking this was very confusing for me but Klaudia did an amazing job helping add up individual payments and find a way to make this process as easy as possible. She was very helpful, kind and respectful to the clients and really went above and beyond with helping us. Really appreciated all the help from Klaudia and the rest of the team. Absolutely worth a visit on Tuesdays they play card bingo on first visit I won 104 pound. Melissa, our waitress was amazing. Went back on Wednesday for quiz night won a bag of chocolates and the staff were still amazing attending all our needs before they were a need. Kluadia served us on Wednesday and we had such a laugh and amazing service even whan they got our bill wrong it was due to Kluadia that fixed it for us and immediately sorted it out. Would recommend this place highly as it has a good atmosphere and super friendly staff..

Nothing is too much trouble for your staff. Food good.

Disastrous visit, table of 10 with no food appearing after 1hr30 wait so we left. Waiting staff tried to help but let down by the kitchen which was clearly unable to cope, hence they should never have taken the booking. Don’t like to pile in but this isn’t an independent and Greene King should do far better…

Staff were excellent an especially accommodating.

Pre ordered food for a group of 9; starters came ok (however prawns were overcooked and chorizo dry) but they somehow forgot to tell kitchen about 2 main courses. Final main course came whilst everyone else had finished! Why preorder? Lasagne was poor; mainly pasta and cheese and dry. Vegetables overcooked. V poor quality food and service. Avoid!

No booking, but made very welcome. Excellent waiting on tables by hard-working, pleasant staff. The meal was very good value, well cooked and presented. A lovely experience during a very busy lunchtime. Also good to observe that dogs not allowed in the restaurant part of the pub.

Had Christmas lunch today. Food was superb and beautifully presented. Excellent value for money for three courses plus a hot drink and mince pie at the end. You could even have a specialty coffee or a hot chocolate, not just a regular tea or filter coffee. Would 100% recommend this place. Staff were friendly and jolly and very welcoming. Also did festive cocktails and dogs were welcome.

We had our choir Christmas meal at the Spyglass & Kettle (as we have done for a few years). This time, as always, we had a great evening. The food was great, and served hot to all 20 of us, and the staff were brilliant. We'll be back!

We have just had the most amazing time with friends and family at the spy glass and kettle in Bournmoth the staff there are so friendly and couldnt do enough for us so accomadating and kind . We can highly recommend this pub /hotel for a place to stay for a party or just for a day trip and lunch /dinner. The manager she was fantastic a great front women . We will definitly be going back . Due to an illness have not been to our favourite restaurant/pub for a number of weeks however returned last night . Have to say nothing has changed the atmosphere was vibrant the entertainment outstanding the food excellent service and friendly approach was stunning and the management very visible including the Manager Jo with the customers making it a great friendly place to visit as a couple or as many were in large family groups enjoying time together for Xmas Many local pubs have closed which is no wonder if they have the spy glass as a competitor as can not match it Jo and time keep going making peoples evening happy /great value and enjoyable I will be back next week Thank you so much Regar GordonSilvester

Superb night watching , dancing and singing along to Diva Legends Tribute Act , featuring Blondie, Madonna and Kylie. Great entertainment backed by great service in the pub itself from Jo and her team . Always made to feel welcome at the Spy , a credit to the local community. Long may it continue!

I had the festive menu, the food was good, the service was great and the entertainment was good as well, with 3 courses for £23.99 the food was better than some of the Hotels in Bournemouth charging a lot more for food that is not as good, I highly recommend this place!

Had a great night at Spyglass tonight. Live music Friday and Saturday throughout December. It's always a lovely atmosphere what ever time of day. We're so lucky to have such a fabulous place to go as locals.

We took our daughter, son, partners our grandchildren and our grandsons girlfriends, 13 in total for my and my wife 50th wedding anniversary. Everything was perfect! The service, the food absolutely amazing evening!

Portions were poor. Not many chips, spoonful of mushy peas, 10 scampi. Upsold steak, as sauce and mushrooms extras. Chocolate souffle not brilliant, half the icecream had melted, what little there was of it. Not told there were sultanas in the sticky toffee pudding. Waitress insisted this was mentioned on the menu double checked, no mention at all, my son hates dried fruit. When mentioned this we were told we should have said my son has an allergy. I had a flag stuck in my meal, after saying I was allergic to mushrooms reading allergy, no reason to do this. Festive menu poor, only 3 choices. Very expensive for what was served

Cannot fault the service unfortunately the food was a big let down ! How can onion rings have no onion? Strange texture of chips, gammon very chewy, almost tasted uncooked

Went here last Tuesday for dinner and drinks as it was my birthday.They had a card bingo night, so we joined in. On the fifth game, I won £106 plus a voucher for a Chicken Dinner. Service/Food/ Atmosphere was very good, would definitely come again.

Attended a family meal last night,but food not good at all ordered gammon and chips unfortunately chips tasted raw and gammon wasn’t cooked enough so chewy,didn’t say anything last night as I didn’t want to ruin the family meal but after talking to two other family members they said the same ,the service was brilliant with the older fella and young lady but the food needs looking at guys ,thankyou

I was with a large party so it was very noisy! Bar staff were great, buffet food was poor for me a vegan but I think the organising family were responsible for that!

Came here due to the lovely location and previous positive visits and being local. Service and cleanliness you can't fault . But out recent visit here ! we were really disappointed more by the green King quality of dishes. the lack of ingredients and tasteless meals was awful . The pie was great but the lasagne was awful . Tasteless and portion was minimum and not worth the price . We ordered extra chips, which we counted 12 of! for the price of 3.50. The land lady did give us extra portion and was really nice, but pictures I have added you decide for yourselves. It's a shame for such a lovely place local we regularly visit, but we will give this place a miss for food .

Beautiful fish and chips. Fish was very tasty - It was tilapia (a bit like skate). 2 meals for £16.99. Service friendly and quick as usual.

Went for an informal, dog-friendly, Saturday lunch. The staff were very friendly and welcoming and the home style food was better than I expected. As it was a sunny October afternoon there were lots of people sitting outside, with lots of dogs in attendance. A good atmosphere for a weekend casual meal.
