Smells of bleach and frequented mostly by locals and some areas looking tired. Staff helpful. Nothing special and lots of other places nearby have better ambiance and charm.

The pub was closed due our family having a wake for my late sister in law. The staff was so good such a happy staff it was a pleasure to meet them on this sad occasion. I will be back in happier times. The food was really well presented and it tasted lovely I'd recommend this pub to anyone who is in the area you wont be disappointed I can't praise the hook high enough.

Great offer for Seniors on Tues and Wednesdays lunchtime, two courses for £11.95. The offer has just started so we thought we would give it a go and we were very pleased we did. Lots of choice for starter and main, very good size portions and lovely home cooked food, we will definitely go back to sample some more of the menu. The pub itself is very comfortable, nice and bright and very most important the staff were very friendly. We need to support local businesses especially on days of the week that are not so busy. I would recommend trying this lunchtime offer, why cook yourself when you can visit this lovely pub.

Popped in for lunch and food and service was amazing. Pie and mash is a must! Followed by a sleep ! Lol.. will definitely be back for a Sunday roast soon

Had a lovely roast today. Richard and his team worked hard to produce great food in a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Love this pub as our local.

We had a lovely breakfast this morning . With a lovely warm welcome from the staff as always. Perfectly cooked and value for money . Will definitely visit again .

Very welcoming and attentive staff. Food was great. Half price mains on a Thursday - 2 dinners for less than £20 - bargain.

The food is beautifully served and I had probably the BEST whitebait ever! My carbonara would have been great but it was heavily salted as was my husbands steak and chips!! There is salt on the table so the chef doesn't need to go mad with it in the kitchen! On the plus side the chef rushed out some un-salted chips rather quickly once my hubby made his complaint about them. For people that suffer with stroke in the family the last thing they need is salt!! The tomato and basil soup was praised as was the pie but the dessert menu was quite uninspiring so I can't comment on those. The staff though were friendly, accomodating and efficient.

We were over from the Isle of Wight visiting friends and booked a table for lunch. Because of the weather we needed to change to booking to earlier which was accommodated with no fuss. The service was the best we have had in a long time. The staff were very attentive checking if there was anything else we needed and if everything was OK with the food. The young dark haired lady ( sorry didn't get her name but calls everyone lovelies ) was especially good . The food was fantastic and very generous portion sizes. We look forward to visiting again soon.

Visited The Hook for the first time on a Friday night We were seated in an empty restaurant opposite the toilets The waitress took our orders and brought our drinks Food arrived promptly Hubby had Spaghetti Bolognese and I had Southern Fried Chicken Burger and Fries Apparently the bolognese was delicious I didn't enjoy my food the fries weren't hot Our friends enjoyed their meals and the service was good Unfortunately the pub was very rowdy and somebody fell on a nearby table and knocked the vase of flowers to the floor There was a constant stream of people often in groups in and out of the loos and the door swung shut with a massive thud every time It was extremely annoying When we left our friend mentioned getting the door sorted again He had spoken to her before and she said " I know it's meant to be fixed " It might explain why the restaurant was empty the whole time As I understand it there is an Italian restaurant round the other side we could see it's entrance across the bar I wouldn't go back

Great breakfast this morning at The Hook. Piping hot coffees, lovely food cooked to order and friendly staff, as always. Definitely worth a visit!

Went to the hook for euros England vs Serbia game. Pint and a burger for a tenner, decent burger and lovely pint. Will be back. Credit to Hannah, Rich and the team!

Whilst I have visited the Pub/Restaurants und previous names and owners. Not too busy too busy on arrival, but picked up as time weng on. Probably just as well as I hadn't booked. Staff were very friendly and provided a good service. The food was delivered promptly and hot. Only ordered one course on this visir, next time will attempt starters and/or dessert.

Great service and dog friendly pub, good proper ales, Had 3 x small Sunday roast dinners, very well cooked & presented, all hot & very tasty. Puddings were good as well, definately worth a visit, great plus, NO football on. would certainly visit again, my mum is a regular.

We visited here for Sunday lunch. We have two small children and hadn't made a booking so were not sure if they could fit us in. In fact from the moment we stepped inside the staff could not have been more welcoming. The service was very excellent and the Sunday roasts were delicious. We will definitely be back.

Lunch on the 50% day off main courses, great value with excellent service with plenty of smiles, all my party thoroughly enjoyed , recommend

A lovely lady squeezed us in for lunch today, which was amazing. Friendly staff, nice relaxed atmosphere and fabulous Sunday roast. We will definitely be back and be sure to book next time.

Called in on the off chance on a Thursday early evening. Already busy with a quiz night starting later with all tables booked. The friendly staff were still able to fit us in. Half price mains meant we ate and drank well for a really good value price. Recommended.

It's ok bring back on he great Harry at least you got a decent but of music every now and then, it's just a bit soulless which is sad

Went to the pub quiz tonight and won’t again. If I were you I wouldn’t bother. It was out in their pergola and it was incredibly cold. When I originally enquired and asked if it was cold, I was told no and there are heaters. There are heaters but only a few dotted around but I was still incredibly cold throughout as it’s very drafty. It was presented by a lacklustre quiz master who tried to penalise everyone for getting spelling wrong until people started to kick off a bit. The food was okay. There was 50% off tonight but the food was just okay and quite overpriced. Go to the Rising Sun if you want a good quiz (which they pay for and not just scraps of paper) and in the warm with good quality food.

Had a yummy dinner here, best chips I reckon Ive ever had, and the burgers was so juicy! I mentioned I. My online booking it was my birthday and then even left a birthday card on our table, such a thoughtful touch ☺️

Booked meal, approx. an hour before told booking cancelled, then told could accommodate us as equipment fixed but would have to wait instead of 1:45pm booking should be 2:15pm, got our food at 2:40pm, unfortunately roast was still raw, the vegetarian option was just a plate of roasted raw vegetables no veggie roast etc. Did give a reduction due to equipment failure &10 instead of £18, such a shame we were so disappointed (my birthday) as staff so welcoming & friendly
