Strawberry Fields Tavern in Fareham

Lovely cosy atmosphere and super lovely staff :)

Just had a fantastic lunch for my daughters birthday. Total of 9 people, the service was quick and very professional.

The Strawberry Field Tavern is my local but, although the menus always look good, I seldom eat there simply because I seldom eat out. Recently I had family visiting and took the opportunity to introduce them to the pub and sample the food. There is a good range of choice on the menus, including pub standards, less usual dishes and a specials menu which changes regularly; smaller portions are available for some dishes. I had Miso Salmon served on a bed of stir fried noodles; the salmon was a good-sized slice, beautifully and nicely complemented by the miso, while the noodles were were a well- flavoured accompaniment. Two of our party had Gammon Steak in a honey & wholegrain mustard glaze and another had Beer Battered Fish & Chips – the fish was enormous and the chips were perfectly cooked. All agreed that the food was excellent – compliments to Chef Ryan – and that the pub has a lovely welcoming atmosphere. Service on this occasion was by the very efficient and friendly George & Ben.

This review is not based on one visit. We go to Strawberry Fields at least once per week. The service is excellent and the food is consistently very good. We had Sunday lunch there on 13th October and it was superb. Really good roast meat and vegetables cooked just right. It’s very good value too!

Great to have Lauren Back behind the bar as the driving force of the Strawbs

It's been a while since I did a review of the SFT although it's been my local since it was built in the 80s. Owners and staff come and go but the current team are the best. Food and service are top notch and the pub is now busier than it ever has been.

This was a first ever visit to this Tavern. Thoroughly enjoyed the experience - we had an excellent meal with good beer and very good service - infact there was nothing to get hung about, Strawberry Fields forever!

My friends and I were given a very warm welcome today. There was a very good choice of home cooked food on the menu. Good portion sizes they also offer smaller for the smaller appetite We will be very happy to return. My only recommendation would be to get a better coffee machine as then you would have got our coffee orders also.

Visited the Strawberry tavern with a friend, he was a little late so I got myself a drink, just a pint. When he turned up I got him a G&T which cost £7.20 which in itself isn’t the best bargain but it is what it is. The next round I bought him a G&T and myself one, identical to the first, both singles but the cost was £17,00 for both. Now it’s been a while since I’ve been to school and many things that were definite when I was a kid are not so black & white now,I’m relatively confident that 2x £7.20 should be £14.40 unless the inflation is wildly out of control in the Strawberry Tavern that in the 25min between drinks it increased by just over 18% in which case by tomorrow I’d have to sell my car to be able to buy a G&T!

Really wide choice of beers here. The team was really friendly. Will definitely return.

Great. Had lunch. Loads of room for the wheelchair. I has small fish and chips. All hot and fresh cooked. My wife had a vegan option. No problems. Would recommend.

Lovely charming pub and with an outdoor seating area too

Food has always been nice. Well staffed bar, located in the central area of Locks Heath village, car parks outside for the shops and community centre.

If you’re looking for a warm atmosphere you’ve come to the wrong place. Extremely rude staff from the moment you walk in. Staff seem miserable and don’t want to be there. They called last orders so another drink was ordered, 10 minutes later an aggressive barmaid comes over and literally says she’s going to stand over customers until they’ve finished their drink. If you’re not going to let customers finish their drink don’t bother serving them. Save your money and go elsewhere.

Had the most wonderful meal with my family yesterday. Zoe, Lauren and Ryan and the rest of their team went way on beyond for our sons birthday. I had the stir fry which was so delicious, I asked Ryan for the recipe!! Others had roasts and nachos. It was thoroughly delicious. Well done guys. You all did well. On every front. Can’t wait to taste more. Very soon!! Xx

Absolutely delicious Sunday roast and we have tested a few locally. Staff were very welcoming on arrival, service was friendly and efficient. The roast chicken was really cooked well and plentiful, home made roasties and delicious fresh veg. Would highly recommend and this will now be our ‘go to’ on a Sunday if I don’t feel like cooking.. thank you .. 🤩 x

Stopped in for a pint mid afternoon whilst my mam and sister went into Waitrose opposite. Was visiting my sister who lives nearby, £5.50 was a shock to the system coming from Hartlepool myself where I can get a pint for £2. Is what it is, friendly staff and very clean. No food so cannot comment. Would go back.

Popped in to watch the last 20 mins of the FA cup quarter finals. Met with a cold response when asked to put the football on. Eventually the small screen that was showing BBC News 24 was swapped to ITV. Had one pint of average ale and left before the end. Chaotic, unwelcoming and unlikely to return. Shame, as it used to be a decent pub.

Everything was lovely till my fish & chips arrived. Ordered small potion off the menu. The fish was very small. Two bites and it was gone. It wasn't a peticularly nice cut of fish . Looked like the tail end. At £10.99 I expected something better

I Planned to meet friends to celebrate a birthday. The pub is great, good selection of beers, service very good. We will definitely return. Well done..just a nice place to visit

I went in today and had an all day breakfast. It was very good. It was piping hot and really good ingredients. The pub was clean and tidy and the staff were very polite and welcoming.

I went here with my wife on valentines evening for a romantic meal for 2 ,i must say that i dont normally write reviews but the service and food was excellent .Wehad the seafood sharer for starters , this was gorgeous and an exceptional size for a starter .I had duck curry for main which was very tasty and for desert had sticky toffee pudding , which was one of the nicest ones I had ever had .I must also say the 2 ladies who served us were very pleasent and were on hand if we needed anything .We will be going back again .

Had an all day breakfast. It was hot and delicious. Had beer there and I was not happy with the taste. They rectified by supplying a fresh pint. Staff are great, will be back again.

Haven't eaten there yet, popped in for a coffee once and also for a beer occasionally. Looks like it is busy during the week and there is a (very well attended) quiz night that takes up most of the tables. Very convenient central pub for Locks Heath. Saturday 13th Jan, looks like the music nights have shifted to Saturdays. Place was heaving and a vand was warming up.

They say its all about "right time, right place". Well spending time here over the festive period was definitely this. We spent a wonderful Christmas Eve there with our adult children. We then spent an evening catching up one evening before NY. Then we spent NY there - a fantastic evening. The atmosphere was fab and the singers great. The staff have certainly helped create a wonderful atmosphere and Lauren is at the front of the cheerful welcome. Looking forward to our next visit!

A lovely local with lovely staff. Been coming here for years on and off with friends and family. Have just enjoyed an outstanding lunch with one of my sons. Asked for a recommendation and Nikki & Lily suggested I try one of the new dishes from the specials board which Ryan had made - honestly, the best meal I’ve ever had in here. Would thoroughly recommend it. Good choice ladies!!

Dined here last night for the 1st time. We were a party of 5 and one of us had specific dietary requirements, which were discussed when the table was booked. Firstly the person that had dietary requirements couldn't have the meal they wanted as the chef had run out of that dish. So another dish, which wasn't really what they had wanted was ordered. Secondly, one of the meals turned up with I believe were roast potatoes, but, as on my own dish, it was hard to determine, as they were so over cooked, when chips had been asked for when the meal was ordered. It was queried when the meal arrived and the waitress was asked if they could be swapped, but this was refused, and she said " the chef doesn't do that"! So a portion of chips were ordered as a separate dish. Next, my dish, which was Teriyaki Salmon with broccoli and these indistinguishable potatoes. I've never actually seen a smaller portion of Salmon, ever, being served in any restaurant I've eaten in! The broccoli portion was huge in comparison and those potatoes!! Well, I won't repeat what I said when they arrived in front of me. The size of the portions are certainly not reflected in the prices and neither was the quality of the food.

I have been before and have always been pleased. This time the place was almost empty being past the rushour. There was over an hours wait for the meal to be served,and over an hours wait for the desert, despite no- one else waiting for food.there was no explanation or apology, i won't be going again

Beautiful sunny evening and was expecting the pub to be packed. But not so. Outside was fairly busy but dead inside. Maybe people really can’t afford nipping to the local for a drink.

Sunday lunch yesterday, and the roast pork was fabulous, more than enough, nice atmosphere and friendly staff.

Lovely pub in the heart of locks heath, reasonable prices, cheap compared to their neighbouring Costa and waitrose and lovely staff, great for any pubby stuff, beer, sports, food and good coffee too :p

The Yorkshire puddings defy description and I am not sure I would have served them with a straight face! With a number of menu items restricted due to food intolerance and no opportunity to swap items this was a genuine disappointment.

Great place for a pub quiz. But be warned if you order and glass of wine and don't like it... Even after one sip. Their attitude is TOUGH!!! At £7 a glass, I think it's a cheek! I only hope they are a little more friendly if you order good morning hats not good. Not that I'll be eating there with that attitude!

Staff really attentive. Valentine decorations really lovely. And love the pub. I think the food let's them down for the prices charged. Upside is it came out really hot. My lasagna tasted ok, not the best I've had. And came out without the salad. Sausage and mash also just ok. We wouldn't go back.

Took my mum out for lunch, as came here at Christmas 2022 with a friend. Staff came over and asked what we like to drink as it was cold I ordered a tea and cappuccino it arrived I had to sent the cappuccino back as it was cold waiter apolgize and got me another, which wasn't much better so I asked for a pot of hot water to keep the coffee warm. We had a small roast dinner, beef was slice wafer thin beef shop bought not proper beef, roast potatoes and parsnips could of been a bit crisper. The gravy was tasty though. Pudding mine was misleading I thought I'd get lemon sponge with lemon sauce on top and custard only to have a lemon icing cake and custard so don't order lemon sponge as you"ll get a frosted icing cake that doesn't go with custard. Two positives would be the gravy and service was good, shame the meal wasn't good as came here on 14th December 2022 with a friend for a Christmas meal and we had a great time and food was brilliant. This time not so good coffee machine was either on the blink or water wasn't boiled to right temperature.

Have visited here twice now, very clean, friendly staff, meals absolutely brilliant, good sized portions, good quality products used, reasonably priced will come again when next in the area.

Grabbed some lunch here today. Food was great. Fullers pricing so I'm not sure if they are a sister company. The menu needs clarification on which items come with their mains, as we ordered chips based on what it stated on the menu and ended up with too many as the main also came with chips. It wouldn't normally be a problem but the server didn't even mention it to us when we ordered. At the end of the meal we made sure to highlight this to the waitress who told us that it happens all of the time. So why not pre-warn your customers before they pay?! Seems like an easy way to con your customers out of £4 if anything. Other than that, the staff were friendly enough and the place is pristine.

Popped in for a light lunch, both husband and I had a sandwich both of which were very fresh and served with a side salad and tortilla chips. All the staff were very good, the young waitress, Lauren, was a joy! bubbly and very friendly, what an asset to the pub. The place itself was very neat and clean including the toilets which is always a bonus! A surprising little find in a small shopping centre.

Popped in for lunch. Excellent service from both members of staff. The lovely Lauren is an Everton fan. Happy days. Very comfortable feel to the place, nice bottle of plonk and a sandwich.

A party of 7 ladies decided on a Lunch. Booked some days before hand, on arrival was informed we were not expected. Staff member showed us to a table . The Staff were friendly & the Meal was very pleasant, plenty of it. Served in nice time. Just before we finished & were getting ready to leave it was mentioned that we were booked in & should have had a very nice round table near a large window. This would have suited us better as the youngest person was was 76 & eldest 91! Prices for 2 for 1 made it better on our purses.

Ordered scampi and chips but scampi very dry then realised some of the balls had no scampi in. Daughter ordered chicken, bacon and avocado salad, no avocado!! Asked but lady serving seemed a bit offended. She did bring some on a separate plate. The young girl server was brilliant. Very attentive and apologetic. In fairness chefs probably didn’t know about the scampi if no one else had mentioned it. Otherwise clean surroundings and other 2 meals good. Also gave us 2 free desserts which were delicious.

Seems a nice place. Friendly staff, a couple of ales on tap. Didn't have food so only 4 stars for now. Great for a quiet pint while your wife is at the chiropractors 🤭

Had a great lunch, light bites as well as meals we enjoyed the sausage sarnies. Especially nice as the bread is from Soothills. The chips are very crispy. Friendly attentive staff and a good location in The Locksheath Centre great centre with lots of good shops. The Post office is a treasure trove lots of interesting items.

I visited last Friday and was really impressed by the two members of staff who served us, they couldn’t have been nicer or more helpful. The fruit tea was amazing. The jacket cheese and beans was lovely and very reasonably priced. I look forward to going back there.

Large imposing building on corner site with plenty of seating within. Clearly cared for with bright planted hanging baskets bidding a warm welcome.

Just been to one of our local pubs. We had a fabulous Sunday roast. My son can be very fussy with what he will and won’t eat. Nothing was too much trouble for both Jason & Bruce in the kitchen. And Ash and his front of house team, Lauren, Dan and Harvey could not have been more accommodating. Well done to you all. We will certainly be returning for another roast!

Decent bar meal although table only cleared (not cleaned) on delivery of food. Some noisy clientelle allowed to call out without reprimand. Understaffed. I won't be back. 👎

Food excellent, beer is kept well and friendly staff, what more is there to ask for? Except lower prices? Still a good place .
