Food was beautiful, soooo nice , literally the Best chips we have ever had in our lives. 10/10 would recommend, best chippy we’ve had for years.

Not been before but I saw it whilst driving and stopped in. It seemed very quiet inside (it's early Sunday night). This lowered my expectations as I thought that might be because it's not a popular establishment. I had a small portion of chips, which was certainly small but was only £2. My partner had the chicken fillet and chips box. I was immediately envious. The chicken portion was generous and based on the strip I nicked, very tasty. It was more like salt and pepper chicken. Unfortunately I'm rarely in the area but I'll keep this place in mind. I should add that it's also nice they have three parking spaces outside the front of the takeaway. Always useful.

I visit at 27 first time today on my brake. Regular size cod more than enough big for me, chips and mushy peas cooked to perfection same as butter on fish especially 😋 yummy. Prices much lower than other F&Chips nearby. Will definitely be back:)

Just gash, absolutely terrible fish n chips Batter wasn’t even cooked properly, soggy as hell Seriously wasted good money on this rubbish before our hols

Absolutely love the place with the new owners, my three year old often drags me in on a Thursday lunchtime from school, and I can honestly say I’ve not have a bad meal from them since the new owners took over. Chips are always perfect, they always remember my daughter and asks how she is, portions are huge so a regular chips can feed my family of 4.

I ordered a large cod and chips for the first time from this shop. I wasn't sure what to expect as I love my cod. When I opened the box, to my surprise I thought they made a mistake and gave me 2 fillets but it was this 1 huge cod and the small portion of chips was large as well. Very impressed and I'll definitely be ordering again.

Has good combination deals especially at lunch time. Very clean and cooked to order so there is a little wait but worth having fresh.

This establishment now scores a 1 for Food Hygeine Standards - Major Improvement Necessary. Visit Date August 2023. Not impressed since the apparent "management takeover". Usually this was the place to go for Fish and Chips in the area, and I usually like to get a large portion so I can share with the family. However, service standards are non-existent, and when I asked for a large portion or chips I was told "we don't do large". The response was, "buy two regular portions." Erm, what? So you get charged twice, but both regular portions put in the same wrapper all for £6. No compromise. The most ridiculous decision for a business to make, that is contrary to good quality customer service, and a complete con. And, I don't know what has happened, but the chips I bought were soggy, and not crisp, most of which landed in the bin. So now we go to Buoy's Plaice, where the service is excellent, the food is great, and nothing is a problem. Oh, and you can buy a large portion for £4.50.

The food taste is best. Lovely cod and fresh.very generous portion , I can highly recommend and will continue to order.

Used to love the place when Gemma and husband ran it...been going down hill since they left..... fish has skin on it and not tasty.. chips look and taste like they have been cooked over again.. the smell isn't nice.. manager friendly and nice and portion size good but left most of it as not nice food. Sad.

I'm just hoping I don't come down with food poisoning 🤮. Burger tasted funny on the first bite, wasn't hot or warm just room temperature, tasted mushy, I had a look and it was raw. I understand you can med-rare burgers when they are made fresh but these burgers are your average frozen burgers, no safe. Time will tell if I get food poisoning. I'm sorry but I will not be back to eat with you guys again. If the food isn't cooked properly what else isn't be followed int he kitchen regarding hygiene and Food handling.

Decided to pop in as driving by and it appeared to have good ratings; however, was probably the worst fish and chips I’ve had. Chips were just about edible. Fish cakes were over done and the cod was incredibly greasy. Batter was inedible. The actual fish was ok. The only positive was that it was piping hot but would not return.

The food was amazing, the chips just the right colour and crispness. The staff were also very polite. Will definitely order from here again.

Grabbed a takeaway for a family email for 7, the fish was ok, batter slightly overcooked but good portion. Fish cakes and battered sausage were ok, hard to get wrong but a budget version. One of the party wanted a pie and was amazed they didn’t do them so Opted for scampi instead and this was dreadful. Horrible taste and whatever was inside was more the consistency of a fish cake and definitely not scampi! We bought curry sauce but this was really thin and very salty so we threw it away. We had two bags of chips and one was on old batch that were overcooked and the other an anaemic batch that was undercooked, neither very nice. All in all a very disappointing supper and not venue I would revisit or recommend after all if a chippy doesn’t do good chips Then what’s the point

Absolutely vile, some of the worst chips I've ever had, cold and wrinkled as if they were reheated in a microwave and the fish was just loads of over cooked batter. Being the only fish and chips shop in the area doesn't give them the right to serve crap.

This used to be our local "go to", but since a recent change of management, this establishment has gone downhill rapidly. Service is terrible - being stared at by gormless staff who don't know how to speak, bereft of any customer service skills, given one-word answers - no please, no thankyous. I went in and asked for "large chips please". "Don't do large" came the response, with no offer of 'this is what we do, or how about this.' Instead when I asked "so I have to buy two small portions at £3 a serving?". "Yeah" was the response. What a rip-off. Food is beyond terrible. Thinking my previous experience was a one-off, we tried them again, on a cold Tuesday night in November. Greasy, undercooked, and lukewarm to the point it was inedible when I arrived home, which is less than a mile away. Went straight into the bin. And don't even bother thinking you're going to get a deal using the Good to Go app. The food you'll get may as well have been taken out of the bin. Don't risk it. Really disappointed with both the attitude of this place and how the food is now beyond poor. This shop used to have an excellent reputation, but the new management are sadly completely clueless on how to run a takeaway and has little in the way of customer service skills.

Cold chips cold mushy peas warm fish and 5.00 dearer than last visit. Gonna leave it a while try elsewhere. Sad used to proper rate this place.

Smallest bit of regular cod I have ever been served. Regular chips has shrunk insize as well. Time to find another chippy

No regrets - freshly cooked and tasty. We even tried their homemade family recipe mint mayo dip that was recommended by the very nice guy who was cooking the food- will def go again!

I went in for large chips.The price had gone up a pound from earlier this year,not great portion size and quality was down.No one in the shop and no atmosphere from staff.Felt like it has gone downhill.Won't be coming back soon.Two stars at a push!PSThey DID sell large chips for £4 before because I bought them several times before.So reply is untrue.

The meal was cold burnt to acrisp so much so there was no fish in the batter portion size was tiny for the amount spent management un interested after contacting them and sounded like someone left on their own with a to do list don't give this business much of a future

Deliveroo and LetsEat customers have priority over anyone queued, so don't expect to get served unless you complain. The other reviews would appear to be fake. Quality of food is about average, nothing special.

Absolutely the worst! Portion size is very small. Very small Carton in which the portion doesn’t even touch the sides. I used to use this chip regularly, it has clearly changed owners. Stay clear, there are plenty of other chip shops better value for money near by.

Just waited over 20 mins for a portion of chips not acceptable.

Ordered over the phone and told 15 minutes. Arrived after 15 minutes and had to wait another 20. The floor behind the bar was dirty and littered with bits of paper towel and the table behind the bar was dirty and unkempt. Dirty/ used rags on the table. The food was ok but I won't go there again.

Under new management (again) Popped in for s quick fish and chip dinner,as I walked in I did notice that the warmer was rather empty so asked if they had a large cod and large battered sausage only to be told "we only cook to order now" so I swiftly left and nipped down to "plaice on the green" everything was ready to go, (how a real chippy should be) I can not have been in there longer than 3 to 4 minutes and beautiful fish too, obviously I will until the next "under new management" before I return to @27

Great chippy !!! Great selection, great service from happy to serve staff. Now that Covid restrictions have eased, you can now stand and wait inside the shop. Limited parking, but the shop is well worth the walk !!

One of the best Fish and Chips shop in the area, excelent value for money. Professional and kind staff, brilliant costumes service. High standards at all time. Always check the "catch of the day" offer, well worth it, big portion and fresh. They have three parking space for the costumers.

Cod & chips: excellent fresh fish, well cooked with a light batter. Chips were pretty good too, not greasy and plentiful. Tartar sauce was brilliant, flavoursome and a little tangy. I'll be back

After a disappointing visit to our normal chip shop we thought we’d try a new one. More than happy with what we got from here! The food was brilliant and the staff were lovely. Definitely our new go to!

Tiny portion of soggy chips weren't cooked through and the fish was half what you get elsewhere. Go to the Plaice on the Green if you want a meal, miles better and cheaper to boot. Disappointing really

Batter a little soggy for me and chips generally clumped together in one lump. However always fresh and appetising.

Food was oven cooked, not fried, majority of chips were undercooked, very very disappointing, could've gotten a better meal from Aldi for 99p

After some poor fish & chips elsewhere we had heard mixed messages regarding the food at Fish & Chips @ 27. We were served at the door. Everything was well packed & kept warm until we got home. The large chips was huge & well cooked without the tiny bits you sometimes get. the fish was very tasty & well cooked. Very enjoyable

Horrible greasy cardboard chips missing items rudely told they dont give refunds and to get money off uber eats they only deliver chip shop responsible for packing for the price charged wont ever use again yuk!

Great fish and chips at a reasonable price plus a wedge of lemon with your fish, little things make all the difference, the menus comes with money off tokens you can use again and again .

Excellent really efficient Covid friendly and excellent food. I had a steak and kidney pie which contained steak and kidney for a nice change.

Horrible..... brown greasy burnt chips...battered sausage cooked in same fat as fish....The saveloys were crinkled and dry. I know why you gave us a free pot of curry sauce....it was to cover the mess of a dinner you served

Chips were extremely greasy. The members of staff where unhelpful towards my dietary needs and quite frankly I asked for a large portion of chips and was very disappointed.

Absolutely disgraceful service, pre ordered 2 cod and chips with curry sauce which I was informed was £6.50 (a reasonable price) then she mentioned on the phone that it would be £5.10 without curry sauce which I declined, then to arrive and none of my order was cooked as of yet as she was too busy drinking her coffee which obviously takes priority, either way I ended up paying £8 per cod and chips and then asked for a further 2 portions of chips which she didnt seem pleased about. long story short i ended up paying close to £25 for basically nothing. Will not be returning. - After half eating the food you will also be sad to know that the batter was similar to play dough, mushy, wet and stodgy. absolute disgrace really and truly cannot get over the state of the food i have just eaten, will be invoicing them for the pending hospital bill.

Lovely clean chip shop with very nice helpful staff. Unfortunately due to a large order they did forget to add chips to the chicken nuggets box yesterday evening, didn't realise until we got back home lol
