The Homestead in Rotherham

The atmosphere is lovely, especially in the seats by the window. Food is also very nice, even compared to other Sizzling pubs. It's always busy, and everyone seems friendly. Joe is the gaffer. Please add the Brian Special to the menu. 💪

We went to the homestead for a family meal on a Saturday night at 7 o'clock for my birthday, the service was spot on the homestead was very accommodating, as we were a party of twelve they managed to seat us all together and the asked us to pick our meals before we got there so that all our meals came out at the same time and no one was waiting. The food was beautiful I would recommend the tomahawk pork it was cooked to perfection. The pub atmosphere was nice and relaxed and the staff were brilliant we will definitely be visiting again. The owner /manager is doing a great job with the place 👍

The Barbacoa Beef Steak was not delicious. The medium rare was cooked well done when I cut it for the first time. The same was true for my friend's sirloin.

Hadn't been here for years and remember when the homestead was a traditional pub way back in the 80s. Not big fan of chain pubs but staff very friendly, food good and nice atmosphere so would go back. 👍

Very nice pub we been going for some time now, the staff are really friendly and helpful to talk to, the meals are excellent we drive about 8 miles to go there, even though we have a pub within walking distance from where we live, the Homestead is just great

Went a few nights ago with friends. Booked a table and went to the bar to be seated. Disinterested blonde pointed over to our table and didn’t really say much. Salmon not available so ordered chicken. My friend ordered fried prawns as a starter and the chick n mix for main. A brunette waitress then came with them both at the same time. My friend politely let her know they should be after the prawns as it’s a starter, she then basically gaslit my friend saying the chick n mix is a starter aswell and showed a menu. Look again because it’s not.. it’s a large plate and it’s not under the starter section of the menu that’s just above it. Food took so long to come we were all eating at different times. Had music on really loud, and table way too low for seating. You’re basically hunched up trying to eat. Gave me a back flare up next day, also stomach and bowels weren’t feeling great the day after (and no I don’t drink it wasn’t alcohol) I ordered chicken nachos and got barely any salsa and cheese it was a drizzle, my friend got the same but hers was covered so no consistency with the food

We really enjoy our visits to The Homestead. Staff are friendly and welcoming, food is good quality and reasonably priced. Beer garden is ideal in the summer. Current management clearly working hard to make this a great local pub.

Our fave place for breakfast. Brilliant service from Joe and the gang and the bonus is that the food and the prices are cheap! Come here every Sunday morning with my partner and his family. Would highly recommend!

Lovely pub. Hot fresh food and lovely staff

We are a little late with this, however we visited Sunday 9th February. Two adults & two children at 3.15pm, booked table on the app. We regularly come here for food as our daughter loves the kids pasta sauce, locally she says its the best. Hat's off to the chef that was on, the food was the best we have had there so far. There was plenty on everyone's plate. As a bonus, we had a free nacho starter on the app. The bar staff are always happy and very friendly.

16 was booked in for a bottomless brunch , when we arrived tables was reserved under the name of who booked it , we was turned away saying it was cancelled days before , manger denied thier was a booking but we was refunded ? We had to speak to him via phone because by coincidence he wast available . Poorly managed a full of lies

Terrible communication from Joe! We had bottomless brunch booked 30/12/24 Arrived tables was reserved for us (18) to be told by a member off staff Joe had cancelled our bottomless brunch and he’d left earlier that day and left the poor bar staff to deal with it,(thanks girls) he had told bar staff he had rang/emailed us to cancel (why was our tables still reserved) We called him and he said we was lying and not booked the bottomless brunch and said he had not done this since 2022!! Why was we there same time last year! Why had we got a receipt for the deposit paid for this and why was it still advertised on the website! Joke

16 people turned up on the day for a botemless brunch. Tables all set up with our names on. We was welcomed in pub then waiter came over and said we are sorry but the manager has cancelled it and left the pub for her to deal with. This is not on and definitely not fair on his staff. When on of locales gave his phone number he was so rude and called us liars and we didn't book anything. Even though we had a recipe with £160 deposit paid.

Booked in for bottomless brunch and get told it's been cancelled by the landlord because he didn't want to do it anymore and not even contact me is definitely out of order and to tell us we are lying about the booking he needs to pack job in

Booked a bottomless brunch in oct for 30th December and when we arrived on the day we were told it had been cancelled. We had had no warning of this and 16 of us had arrived in taxis for a day of drinking and eating. The manager wasn’t there and the poor staff on shift had to deal with us complaining. When we rang the manager he claimed we were liars and was very rude. Will never go to this place again it’s very poorly managed.

The food was excellent we wanted a pint of real ale but it had run out and there was no replacement on the bar this was the only downside to our time in the homestead. The customer service from Danni was outstanding she is an absolute credit to the pub!

I was in on Sunday afternoon the member of staff that was at the bar was polite and welcoming when we asked about Christmas menu Joe came to the table explained that it was on the sizzling app and if we wood like any thing we could order at the bar but we whent for the classic mix grill and my partner had sulf and turf both meals wear taste and excellent.

The staff are always friendly staff, the service is spot on and the food is always really nice with good portions at great value.

We ordered at the table via the QR code but the only option for wine via the app is a 250ml glass(125ml on the menu). The docket printed at the bar but no one noticed, so we had to go to the bar to tell them. The chicken gyros wrap wasn’t great. The chicken looked liked the slices you’d by in a packet at the supermarket. There was lots of sirracha sauce over the wrap, which was overpowering. Basic meal. There was a 10yo birthday party which was extremely loud.

Friendly staff, kids were welcome, they even provided paper, crayons, books. The food was great and came in good time

Went for sunday lunch with a party of eight, made reservation on line , Wide choice of menu items for all (age range of our group 9 to 80) our food was well presented, delicious, plentiful and piping hot, all our meals arrived at the same time and we were able to eat together, The pub has a great atmosphere with a mixed clientelle, and is very cozy, kids and dogs are also welcomed here, we were given a great table, the team are very welcoming and helpful, the service was excellent, theres also a great choice of drinks including cask ales, No hesitation in recomending this establishment, it's landlord, staff are all very welcoming and helpful, I'd also recomend the food and drinks offered, which are all excellent and value for money

A delightfully cozy restaurant amidst lush greenery with excellent food and service! The mixed grill platter was delicious and so was the grill chicken and vegetable platter! The sticky toffee pudding was a great way to end our meal! I rate this restaurant a full 10/10 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Ordered a Uber eats and got 12 wings. Ordered the same stuff again and got 6. Called up and the person I spoke to wasn’t interested in anything apart from telling me I was wrong. We eat there at least twice a week but I won’t be again. Shocking attitude and service. I’m only a customer attitude unfortunately. Will be eating somewhere else from now on. Pre ordered for a table of 10 to wait an hour when pub was not even half full with people ordering food.comes out one sausage cold one red hot. steak cooked so wrong was embarrassing to even attempt to eat fried stuff wow managed to burn it. All in all from one of the best food places of the area to the most embarrassing made it the manager joe could not have been any more clueless on how food should be offered a burger as replacement. how a place that I worked and loved ended up being this disappointing . I know your ment to lead by example but is that's a leader I'm glad I don't work for this company anymore

There were 10 of us visited for my dad's birthday, it was very welcoming & staff was very friendly. Service was fantastic by both Joe & Claire & all food was lovely. They even played happy birthday song over speaker which was a nice suprise. Thank you :-)

Had a lovely lunch with 12 NHS staff Lovely food, lovely and friendly staff, All decided to go back for our Xmas lunch there. Disabled access is also available and disabled parking which we used for one of our group. Thoroughly enjoyed our time at the homestead.

Really friendly pub with fabulous food at great prices. We both had the fish and chips on £11.75 for two deal. The meal was really big and beautifully cooked. There were 2 large parties booked in and we still got excellent service and the wait for the food was no longer than usual. The kids meals including drink and dessert are excellent.

Servers where polite. Tables quickly cleared and cleaned. Food was piping hot and plenty of it, great value.

There have been some good improvements at the Homestead in recent times. The food now is very good and the prices incredibly reasonable. The staff are very nice. Outdoors there are new tables and an outdoor TV. You can tell the current management are really making an effort with it. Overall the inside could do with a makeover but that is down to the chain/owners and that would really make it very nice indeed.

Always nice food and friendly staff

After adding a five star review a few weeks ago, we decided to visit the Homestead again for Father’s Day but the experience was very different this time. Despite being booked in and arriving on time, we were told that there was a one hour wait for food after ordering. Disappointing that the planning hadn’t taken into consideration that those clients booking a specific time were being treated as walk-ins. Anyway we accepted the wait and ordered. One of our party who had travelled from Barnsley wanted the Mac and cheese as she really enjoyed it last time. It wasn’t available. Disappointing, but she made do with a burger which was ok. I ordered the halloumi wrap which I too had enjoyed last time. Everyone was served their meals except me. When they came over to enquire if all was ok, I pointed out that my meal was missing. It came a few minutes later but I wish I hadn’t bothered. The wrap was solid, didn’t even meet never mind wrap, was more like an open sandwich, was rock solid like a piece of plywood and the halloumi was cold. I gave feedback and the waitress thanked me for letting her know but there was no follow up. As it was Father’s Day, I didn’t make an issue of it to spoil the family gathering. I have to say that everyone else was happy with their meals. On to dessert. Our granddaughter had the pink doughnut but sadly we had to send it back as we couldn’t let her eat it as it was still frozen solid. My Cadbury chocolate Sundae was just chocolate floating in cold milk as the ice cream was totally melted by the time it came to me. After our enjoyable visit recently my Father’s Day visit was a huge disappointment as both my courses weren’t up to par, plus the waiting, unavailability of the Mac and cheese and the frozen doughnut. I left praise when the visit was good so it’s fair to point out the shortcomings of this visit too.

Went for the first time yesterday for tea , service was great , I love places where you're welcomed by the staff properly , the food was really good and I liked that we were asked a couple of times if we needed anything while having our meal . I drove 25 minutes to get there and will be making that drive regularly

The waiting time for our main meal and desserts was a little longer than normal, but we were not in a particular hurry, but we did have to ask about our desserts. A party of 4 seniors, we meet there often for a meal and drinks, as it is midway to meet. We all enjoyed our meal yesterday and thanked the bar staff , and the chef, who was just coming out of the kitchen as we were leaving. The staff are always friendly and polite, with a smile, and ask if we need anything while they are passing tables, when delivering, or collecting from various tables. The conservatory is our favourite area, as it seems too dark around the seats nearer the bar area, although it has not stopped us from staying for a meal.
