Had The Buckingham Palace Garden Afternoon Tea which was more than filling. We requested one Gluten-Free dish which presented no problem to the owners. We had previously booked and a table was reserved in the front of the tea room looking out to the high street, this made our visit more enjoyable than being to the rear of the tea room. The tea room is filled with 1940-60's memorabilia to look at, so plenty to occupy oneself.

My wife and I have been holidaying in Ramsgate/Broadstairs for many years and always visit The Home Front tearoom. We visited last week, while on holiday, and we were glad to see that it is still as good as ever. It is great to go to a tearoom that still uses loose-leaf tea and tea strainers (So many tea rooms use tea bags which in my opinion, result in an inferior cup of tea.) It is outstanding! The staff are so helpful and friendly. The tea rooms are set around the war time years and is like stepping back in time. The authenticity of the 1940s décor is amazing and must be a real labour of love for the owners. The staff even dress in the 1940s style. We had a light lunch and tea, which were very reasonably priced. They even have a loyalty card in the form of a 'ration book'. We will be returning again next time we are in Ramsgate. If you want a nice cuppa and something to eat whilst in Ramsgate, I can strongly recommend Home Front Tea rooms!

What an absolutely wonderful cafe - a total gem! I don’t live far and so can’t believe this was my first visit - wow, I’ve been missing out - I’m already planning more visits with family. The atmosphere and all the little touches of 1940s life has been impeccably observed, a nostalgic treat, yet the catering of dietary needs lent a welcome and contemporary touch. The service was first class, so welcoming and friendly - nothing was too much trouble. The whole experience was an utter delight - yay to my new favourite tea shop!

We visited for a pre booked afternoon cream tea. Everything beforehand was good- the lady was helpful by catering for our dietary needs. However the service on the day was poor. We had to wait 30 minutes for our order to be taken for drinks (after going to ask) It was cold in there too, so we needed our tea to warm up. It then was a further 45 minutes before we got our food. I understand it was a very busy day but we were asked to order 24 hours before and pay a deposit so we should have been a priory. It was a special birthday treat for my mum so a little disappointing. If I hadn’t of paid in full already I would have asked for a reduction in price.

Absolutely fabulous cafe. We had lunch here as part of a birthday treat and what a treat! The decor, the ambience, the attention to detail, the food were all amazing. Such friendly staff - suitably attired in their 1940’s pinnies - and a varied and inclusive menu. We wanted to embrace the whole 40’s theme so had a spam & pickle sandwich and a corned beef & pickle sandwich - both divine! I wasn’t sure I’d like the spam but it was excellent. To follow we thoroughly enjoyed our tinned fruit with evaporated milk and custard which I hadn’t had since I was a child. It was an experience rather than just a lunch out and we’re definitely going again. Superb!

This was a favourite on our recent visit to Ramsgate. Friendly atmosphere in a unique cafe with so much attention to World War II period detail including how the staff were dressed and the background music. The decor is really interesting with so much attention to detail. The coffee was very good and the savoury afternoon tea was superb. Warm fresh scones with cream cheese and tasty onion chutney. A great variation on the usual scones with cream and jam. Will definitely be back when in the area again.A note on accessibility - Not sure if my wheelchair would go in but no problem with my wheelie walking aid. The toilet was upstairs but a good handrail.

I had heard of the Home Front tea room, but i had never been there, until a couple of days ago. Walking through the door, it is like stepping out of a time machine. The chairs and tables may be socially distanced, and there is a slight smell of cleaning fluid - everything is spotless - but the atmosphere is pure 1940s, even down to the music. The staff are dressed in 1940s overalls and headwear, the effect spoilt only by the very necessary masks and gloves. Both ladies were absolutely lovely. I was served a pot of Earl Gray tea, complete with a tea-cosy, a small jug of milk, and a strainer - They use real leaf tea - and a cherry rock cake. It was excellent!I was made to feel extremely welcome, the food was wonderful, and I shall certainly be returning. Thank you, everyone!

Undertaking a project like this could have gone so wrong. It might just have been trite and kitsch, or a museum or simply not have worked at all. But it does work - perfectly. From Kim's shouted welcome from the back of the tea rooms, to the décor to the way a tea is served evokes more than simple nostalgia for a bygone era.The period music, the advertisements, the bunting - even the furnishings and counter top are all spot on.Tea served in a pot - loose leaf tea with a tea strainer in a little pot. The teapot with its knitted cosy and a little jug of milk. It's the little things that make it all work - an iced gem biscuit resting in the teaspoon in the saucer.Well done to everyone who worked hard to realise this project. Well done too for making it educational and offering resource packs for sale.A truly wonderful experience. Give it a go. Real living history.

It wasn’t busy when we arrived as it was just before lunchtime and settled on a nice table near the counter. Looking at the Menu there was plenty to choose from along with a small Specials board. We were chatting with the staff who were ever so accommodating with our choices of items for the Afternoon teas. Corned Beef, Spam, builders tea they have the lot. The food looked, smelt and tasted great. The portions were good and again the staff didn’t over fuss us but made sure we had everything we required. Refills on the tea we’re soon offered and brought to the table. We had so many nice things but the one thing that stood out was the moist fruit cake. By heck it was delicious. Had lunch here recently. The staff are really friendly and the food is excellent. Full of nostalgia and a lovely place to eat. Stepping back in time to the 1940s with artifacts and lovely memorabilia of the time. Definitely worth a visit.

We popped in here for breakfast on our way to the beach and everything was excellent, lovely setting decorated authentically and loved the music. Our 2 year old loved her crumpets and I tried Camp coffee for the first time which was very good too. If we didn't live so far away, we'd come back soon. Perhaps we'll have to come on holiday to the area again!

This café allows you to travel back in time to 1940’s through to 60’s while having delicious cream tea/cakes/ light bites. It feels very apt especially after a tour of the Ramsgate Tunnels. More than anything one has to appreciate the atmosphere, decorated with 2nd World War, and post war furnishings and memorabilia, including toilet sinks and soap dispensers sourced carefully by the owner who I understand is an enthusiast of this era. The place felt like a magical journey back in time. Recommended.

Welcomed really cheerfully and homely. The whole place done out in true 1940s style. Good offerings of all types of tea on offer. Lovely real tea leaves cuppa and slice of cakes this time. Next time going to try something warm...just not pilchards or spam lol.... ration book loyalty card provided so looking forward to a return visit. Keep the home fires burning ladies!

If your in Ramsgate and fancy a lunchtime snack or afternoon tea, I can not recommend this establishment highly enough. I had a snack of Pilchards on Toast and my wife had a Jacket potato with Coronation Chicken, Both were delightful. Tea is Leafed Tea,( taste so much better) the whole Tearoom is based on what the Homefront would have been like during the war. Very tastefully done. A great idea would be to do the War Tunnels then have Tea here afterwards. Staff were excellent and dressed in 40's fashion. Reminded me so much of what Lyons corner house used to be like. Brilliant.

Just cosy, authentic, nostalgic and really enjoyable. We didn't feel rushed, the decor is well thought out, as is the menu-simple, but appropriate to the theme. We'll be back.

We haven’t had a chance to re visit the ladies at The Home Front Tearoom since last July, so we were eager to see how things were when we had a few days off last week. I’m pleased to say that we are still enamoured with this establishment. The staff are so friendly and take the time to actually converse rather than hastily take ones order. The jacket potato with accompanying salad was just right and I’m pleased to say I still had enough room for some wonderful chocolate cake. I think on my next visit, I shall aim to have one of their cream teas which look amazing. Obviously things are going well as there is now an upstairs room which is open and has the feel of a village hall, complete with bunting and I love the ration book loyalty card - I look forward to seeing what else might be new when I next manage a visit - keep up the good work!

We only stopped in for coffee to see what the place was like and if it was suitable for taking family. We weren't disappointed. The tea and coffee is delicious! The pricing is excellent and we cannot wait to return. Service was with a smile, and the wartime theme of the place is great.

Fancy place serving good coffee but only average tasting food. Pastries were too crispy and wasn’t flavourful. It certainly looks attractive from the outside though.
