The Holly Bush in Oxford

Had the Toni pizza with smoky BBQ wings. Impeccable flavour. Best wing experience I have had so far. Best to get there before 9 to experience the greatness, and don't get mad at the chef if you show up too late. 2 pints of Birra Moretti, as a Canadian, it will be difficult to find beer as good as this back in Canada. Also have a great selection of non alcoholic drinks.

We arranged a colleague’s leaving do at the Hollybush and the service was fantastic. They were very relaxed about the amount of people and nothing was too much trouble. Thank you to all the staff for their efforts.

We were staying in a hotel near the train station outside of central Oxford and this gem exploring the area. We were looking for a spot for Easter supper and this place was perfect. I ordered the roasted lamb with vegetables and Yorkshire pudding. The lamb was flavorful and delicious. The peas, carrots and broccoli were fresh and had a good bite. I particularly liked the char on the potatoes and parsnips, adding some sweetness. The brown jus brought it all together. It was my first Yorkshire pudding and it went well with everything. As a side accompaniment, we had the entree size mac and cheese. I wish so much we had this in the U.S. instead of the common variety macaroni. Here the macaroni is beautifully enrobed in that gorgeous cheese and bechamel sauce. It’ll be hard to go backwards. I had a crisp and cold apple cider from the tap to go with the meal. To fellow travelers please come here for your next meal if you can to get some great local fare and a fun atmosphere. The folks were friendly!

Went here a few years ago there was a chef called cam he lied to my face and was happy to carry on as though he had done nothing wrong it was during Covid so all rules were out the window, never went back becuase of that such a shame

I can't rate the food as I've only ever stopped there for a quick pint if I've just missed my bus home. The staff are always friendly and there's a great atmosphere in the pub whenever I've been there.

We booked a last minute Sunday lunch for 17 people. The Holy Bush couldn't have been anymore accomadating, and at such last minute, it was seamless.l! The food was fantastic, service faultless and what a great atmosphere the Holy Bush has. A gem in the heart of Oxford ❤️ We honestly can't wait to go back.

I visited with my two young children for a casual weekday lunch. The food was great and very good value, the staff could not have been more accommodating and friendly - nothing was too much trouble. There is plenty of space inside and a nice outside seating area/pub garden, which would be lovely in warmer weather. The pub is conveniently close to the train station, the Thames path and parks.

Went for hump day pints, this is the best night I have ever had this week, I may there now, I may be drunk now, but I could also not be… that’s for me to know and you to find out!

The pub is lovely, good selection of beers, The pizzas were amazing most staff friendly apart from the lady who served the food to us, she looked grumpy and just slammed the food down and was really unfriendly, some food was missed then we we asked for the extra potatoes they come after we had finished the meal, which was a shame as a group of 10 people who spent over £300 including drinks before the meal, we felt the lady serving let the whole pub down, perhaps some training on customer service could pay dividends

The staff were friendly and helpful. Pizza was okay, but a bit oily for us. The chicken was a bit dry and the veg was under cooked for our liking.

A pub close to where we stayed. It was Friday and there was a good, close, neighborhood atmosphere. Their specialty is pizza. Although we had to wait, it was worth it. A well fermented dough and quality ingredients. Very friendly treatment and service. We were tired from touring the city and it was a pleasure to end the day.

Lovely fresh pizzas and a nice atmosphere. No air con so really hot on a summer's day! No chips as a side option which we thought was odd. Also, no offer of condiments other than the ones you had to buy. No checkup from waiters to check everything was okay. Great if you want fresh pizza and drinks but nothing more to it.

Used their online system to book a table a week in advance. No response. Phoned the pub a few days later to query my booking ‘I’ll get my manager to look at it’. Nothing. Either their booking system doesn’t work - or they don’t care.

I have been in here multiple times before, and never had a bad experience. However, on this day (Friday 18th of August), it was not my normal great experience. Me and my wife popped in for a mid afternoon drink, and were having a good time so far. However, there must’ve been a switch over of the managers around about half past 4. The other manager came in and started slamming about, shouting profanity at his staff. This made me and my wife feel extremely uncomfortable so we finished our drinks and left. Not a pleasant experience at all and it will take a lot to make us want to come back in again.

The girl behind the bar told me I couldn't have my starter first, all food was served together because they were so busy. So I didn't have a starter - pizza was OK, cooked to order I think, so it took a while. A few locals who were drunk were swearing a lot and getting loud and it felt as though something might kick off, so it wasn't somewhere I wanted to stay once I had eaten, but perhaps I went on a bad night.

Just tried the Sunday roast in this lovely pub. Superb! Excellent food beautifully cooked, Both the meat and veggie options. The beer is very well kept too. Staff friendly and helpful. Highly recommend. PS they also cook an excellent pizza!

Bustling and interesting with a large collection of eclectic stalls and eateries. "Something for everyone" even a husband creche so ladies can drop their bored and surly men for a well deserved drink whilst they get on with the primal need of shopping 😀

Had lunch here the other day with my husband and daughter, it was ok, I ordered pizza but for some reason it wasnt something to shout about, nothing wrong with the establishment or service but the pizza just wasn't great, maybe too much cheese, I'm not sure but I was hoping it would be amazing and it was just ok.

I came here a few weeks ago for a friends birthday. This time I came back with my partner as I’d been banging on to him about how great it is, he wasn’t disappointed! Last time round we didn’t eat but this time we did after the Manager told us how good the pizzas are. I opted for the Lardo and my partner had the Rancher. Both really good pizza, couldn’t eat them all but luckily they had takeaway boxes, we didn’t want any of it to go to waste. Already planning on coming back on Sunday for a roast dinner! Thanks guys!

Been going to the Holly Bush for a few years,but since the new Landlady came the food quality and quantity has gone down. I will not be eating in there again

It's a good pub with a good atmosphere, lots of locals and live music every now and again. For food, if you like pizza, they do some good ones with a proper pizza oven, but any other food is limited. The only reason it's not full starts is because nobody came to clean our table after we've finished eating. And looking around, there's no push on making sure tables were cleaned of empty plates and glasses. It could be that I'm a bit of a clean freak - so it might not bother other people ;) Overall, it's a good place with friendly staff and great local people.

I’m not really one for writing reviews but feel compelled to do so after our recent visit. We booked for around 40 young professionals to arrive at this venue for ‘Prosecco and Pizza’. Unfortunately the organiser of the event was unable to make the event and had asked me to make sure everything ran smoothly. I really didn’t have to do anything, the service was amazing, our glasses were always full and the pizzas were plentiful and honestly the best I’ve tasted. We had asked for a selection of pizzas of their choice and were served with pizzas to suit everyone, meat, vegetarian, vegan and gluten free. Everyone was catered for. We really couldn’t fault any aspect of the event and would definitely return and recommend to others. Thank you to Louise for looking after us.

The Hollybush is a wonderful pub with excellent food and an INCREDIBLE pub quiz every Wednesday at 8. The quizmaster is charismatic and engaging, and the breadth of questions makes sure everyone feels involved at some point (not just history and sport!).

We happened upon the HollyBush when our city centre bus terminated early because of the road closure in place. I’m so pleased we did! The place was far bigger than it looked from the outside. We were greeted with a smile and a hello. We ordered drinks and were guided to the £15 Prosecco, bargain! We chatted with Louise, the lady that served us and the chef that was working. And we went and sat with our drinks, really, really lovely atmosphere. We didn’t eat but the menu looks great so will be back to try some of the recommended pizzas! Stopped and had another chat with Louise on the way out! Customer service was second to none, keep up the good work. What a find!

Located in Osney, close to the Oxford station, it is a nice pub that offers handmade fire cooked pizza (eat 2 for 1 on Mondays), normal beers, and occasionally live music. Right spot to escape from the city centre chaotic life.

Cozy pub and nice staff. However, the veggie roast was a bit mean (small portions, just 2 small roast potatoes) and my friend's 'Margot' pizza was over cooked and looked like a frozen pizza despite their nice looking oven!

£8.90 for 2 pints of coke and staff look annoyed to see you.

Very friendly staff and lovely food. Does get a bit noisy when they have their weekly pub quiz, but that's part of the fun atmosphere they have in this pub located nearby Oxford train station.

Hands down best roast I’ve ever had, even beat last year’s Christmas dinner when mum let me do the turkey on account of my parents’ divorce. Honesty, I went all out on that turkey. Pancetta lattice, garlic, lemon & herb stuffing. Admittedly, I did leave the plastic bag of giblets in whilst roasting, but it didn’t affect the flavour whatsoever. Anyway, the Holly Bush’s roast knocked this out the park. Made mine Look like the kid that gets picked last in year 8 PE football. The staff are all such beaming individuals, too. The manager made me feel more at ease than an industrial vat full of radox bath salts. The chef is some sort of alchemist that has mastered blending phenomenal organic ingredients with pure emotion. I had a good cry for about 15 minutes after. I felt like a new born. You seriously have to do this roast. Final note, the guy who does the pub quiz needs his own Netflix special - stat!

Such a wonderful place. So glad this isn’t too far from our home. Lovely chilled atmosphere, family and dog friendly. All the staff are so wonderful. Great food, clean environment. Always feel very welcomed. Quiz nights are also a blast and a half.

This is quite a nice pub but the secret beer garden is very scruffy. Pizza was nice but of the other 3 meat mains 2 were unavailable and the third, beef brisket and beans, which should have been okay, was ruined by being excessively sweet. Also no milk available for coffee.

Decent pint and pretty quiet when I visited on a saturday afternoon. My be different in the evening? Will be back in a few days to find out.
