The Holly Bush in Oxford

We are very lucky to have The Holly Bush as our local pub, I can confidently say that the Pub offers a wonderful combination of great food, drinks, and service in a delightful setting. The selection of drinks is impressive as well, with a great range of local ales, wines and cocktails to choose from. And the pizzas!! The pizza here are just absolutely amazing, they are always so fresh and have various types of toppings on offer. The staff are very kind and knowledgeable making us always feel welcome. We highly recommend to anyone in the area!

Great atmosphere, clean tidy, nice friendly staff. Pizzas were amazing and 2-4-1 on Mondays can’t complain! Nice place to just chill and hang out.

It's a really nice friendly pub. Having stayed just opposite for 3 days. This was our go-to pub each evening. The pints were decent and seating good. The beer garden looked good, but it was freezing at the time.

Visited this lovely place with friends. The manager (John) was very friendly and welcoming and had a good rapport with the locals. Good beer. Would definitely visit again.

We have had our work’s Christmas do at the Holly Bush for the last 3 or so years and each year we were made to feel really welcome which is why we’ve been back again each year. . This year, the service wasn’t anything like it was previously, and we were at no time felt welcomed.

A lovely gentlemen named Jack served me and my partner a beer last week, with excellent service. He provided extensive detail on the flavours of each beer on tap. I don’t visit Oxford very often, but as this pub was recommended by a friend, I am eager to visit this pub again. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Had such a blast here. The guy Liam that runs it is very welcoming (good knowledge of music too). Food was delicious.Bar staff were lovely especially Sam. Friends and I would definitely recommend it.

Ah, I love this place - which I'm privileged to call my local. Liam and the team achieve a unique combination of classic pub cosiness, with a 'stay as long as you like' welcome, *and* great food at an affordable price (including the much-reviewed pizzas which really are good). Many pubs have one of these qualities, maybe two, but rarely all three. (Oh, and it's dog friendly - bonus points again!) When I needed a location for a film shoot recently I approached the Holly Bush team, who looked after us so well. It's truly a great little place. But don't tell too many people about it - we want it all to ourselves.

Had an excellent Sunday lunch (Roast Beef) which was only £16:50 . No Guinness but a very nice stout was available . Very good staff and service , I will be back again 😁😁😁

Rude bar man, poor service, not children friendly. I walked in with my two children with a table booking and waited at the bar to be seated, I was ignored and only when my kids started running around and playing did someone take notice, but instead of seating us he told me off for my kids playing!! We did not stay too eat but went to the Punter around the corner which was amazing.

Gran ambiente, buen personal apto para pizzas. Buenas ofertas para conseguir clientes en por ejemplo £ 1 de descuento en todas las pintas los viernes y 2 - 4 - 1 pizzas los lunes. Las pizzas eran sabrosas y llegaron frescas y rápido, mi única razón para no dar un 5 / 5 es que había un poco demasiado pesto en mi pizza. Aparte de eso disfruté de mi experiencia y volveré al 100% pronto.

We had Pizza at the Holly Bush while we charged up the car at Waitrose down the road and the experience was exceptional. Don't miss the Carolina Reaper dip but don't overdo it. Good beer too.

There are not enough words for how good this pub is. They welcome you in like family and defend you like a sibling would and should. This pub is home, everyone should make it theirs too. And so thank you for making it so beautiful (Liam, Kyle, Dani, Molls, Sam, and just everyone because you know I have nothing but love.)

We have eaten here several times before, but were disappointed last night. Firstly - the menu: I enquired about the veggie kofta, only to be told it's never been available at The Hollybush..... When I enquired why it was on the menu therefore, I was told it's part of a nationwide offering from this chain but the Hollybush has never served it. Naively, I had thought it was an independent pub. The pizza selection has changed drastically - and not for the better, in our opinion. Most things were 'fusion', no classics.... 4 of the 12 options featured plant-based cheese, which isn't appetising for most people! Two of our group went for the Massaman curry, with chicken. The chicken was very overcooked and there was almost no sauce. (They did bring extra sauce, on request, and the marinated anchovies which we added to one pizza improved things a bit), but generally, we were very disappointed, compared to previous visits.

This was my favorite pub in Oxford during my month stay, the drinks are very well priced and the staff is exceptionally nice. I went a few times and the quiz nights and pizza was the highlight of my trip. They remembered my name and order and constantly was keeping a conversation with me and my friends. I even stopped by on my last night to say goodbye. Highly recommended this pub!

The Hollybush is home. There is nothing like it and they deserve all their flowers. I am always welcomed, and everyone is so happy and there are helpful staff that try to make your day better. I have never felt more safe, more supported or more cared for at a pub than my Holly.

Nice beer, nice food, nice deals. However if you want to patronise ‘Scan the QR code to see what’s available or not’, please do put your effort that all QR codes in the pub are working fine😊 Never get refused to order any cocktails in the pub which listed on official drink menu because they don’t have ‘stuff’ which actually meant cocktail shaker at the end.

Great food for a pub like eatery. Went on quiz night, which was brilliant. Such good deals the chicken wings for example. Clean, games provided, great crowd. A bit of a find.

The complete transformation of the Holly Bush over the last two or three years under the management of Liam and through the work of his excellent team has been a real boon for our little part of West Oxford. What was once a dreary outpost has become a buzzing part of the local community with a friendliness and warmth that makes this a top notch local boozer. The pizzas are pretty good too! Well worth a visit.

Loved this place, but over the last few months has totally changed, from the staff that are all teenage chavs to the clientele that were clearly underage and friends with the bar staff. Was also quite fun to see someone assault one of the staff and then apologise and hug them... Sadly will avoid this place, shame though, it was my local and had liked supporting it.

Came here to watch the euros and had a fantastic time. Ended up getting a pizza and loved the shredder. Will come back soon!

Realty nice pub, great service, good beer, fab pizza. Whenever the Botley Road bridge reopens I will be there more often.

We visited twice, on the first occasion we had pizzas and these were very tasty along with the cheese fondue. On the second visit we had just starters. The chicken wings were good but the tacos filling was over done and tasteless and the potatoes tasted good but the filling was over cooked again. We did enjoy the quiz though.

I like this pub but I'm lowering my review after being over charged for beer on two different occations, it was refunded both times when I queried it but they should not be making this mistake

Visited this lovely pub on the 15th May 2024, wonderful unpretentious pub with a lovely atmosphere. Decent selection of drinks,especially the lovely real ales. Fabulous thin base pizza's. Special mention to the friendly welcoming professional staff .

Great pub along Botley Road. We were fortunate enough to stumble upon it on a Taco Tuesday, so treated ourselves to every option on the great, albeit short, menu. Couldn't honestly pick out a favourite, as all were delicious. The pizza was also very good, didn't try any of the pub classics so will just have to come back another time. Staff were super nice and helpful, and the place had a nice outside area to chill.

The Holly Bush staff were fantastic tonight. The food was incredible, the Staff were friendly and even when my children were running having tantrums they were extremely accommodating, and made me feel like this is a proper family pub. Will 100% return and definitely recommend this pub to all my friends. Liam and Daejon were fantastic hosts.

We arranged a colleague’s leaving do at the Hollybush and the service was fantastic. They were very relaxed about the amount of people and nothing was too much trouble. Thank you to all the staff for their efforts.

Had the Toni pizza with smoky BBQ wings. Impeccable flavour. Best wing experience I have had so far. Best to get there before 9 to experience the greatness, and don't get mad at the chef if you show up too late. 2 pints of Birra Moretti, as a Canadian, it will be difficult to find beer as good as this back in Canada. Also have a great selection of non alcoholic drinks.

We were staying in a hotel near the train station outside of central Oxford and this gem exploring the area. We were looking for a spot for Easter supper and this place was perfect. I ordered the roasted lamb with vegetables and Yorkshire pudding. The lamb was flavorful and delicious. The peas, carrots and broccoli were fresh and had a good bite. I particularly liked the char on the potatoes and parsnips, adding some sweetness. The brown jus brought it all together. It was my first Yorkshire pudding and it went well with everything. As a side accompaniment, we had the entree size mac and cheese. I wish so much we had this in the U.S. instead of the common variety macaroni. Here the macaroni is beautifully enrobed in that gorgeous cheese and bechamel sauce. It’ll be hard to go backwards. I had a crisp and cold apple cider from the tap to go with the meal. To fellow travelers please come here for your next meal if you can to get some great local fare and a fun atmosphere. The folks were friendly!

Went here a few years ago there was a chef called cam he lied to my face and was happy to carry on as though he had done nothing wrong it was during Covid so all rules were out the window, never went back becuase of that such a shame

I can't rate the food as I've only ever stopped there for a quick pint if I've just missed my bus home. The staff are always friendly and there's a great atmosphere in the pub whenever I've been there.

We booked a last minute Sunday lunch for 17 people. The Holy Bush couldn't have been anymore accomadating, and at such last minute, it was seamless.l! The food was fantastic, service faultless and what a great atmosphere the Holy Bush has. A gem in the heart of Oxford ❤️ We honestly can't wait to go back.

I visited with my two young children for a casual weekday lunch. The food was great and very good value, the staff could not have been more accommodating and friendly - nothing was too much trouble. There is plenty of space inside and a nice outside seating area/pub garden, which would be lovely in warmer weather. The pub is conveniently close to the train station, the Thames path and parks.

Went for hump day pints, this is the best night I have ever had this week, I may there now, I may be drunk now, but I could also not be… that’s for me to know and you to find out!

The pub is lovely, good selection of beers, The pizzas were amazing most staff friendly apart from the lady who served the food to us, she looked grumpy and just slammed the food down and was really unfriendly, some food was missed then we we asked for the extra potatoes they come after we had finished the meal, which was a shame as a group of 10 people who spent over £300 including drinks before the meal, we felt the lady serving let the whole pub down, perhaps some training on customer service could pay dividends

The staff were friendly and helpful. Pizza was okay, but a bit oily for us. The chicken was a bit dry and the veg was under cooked for our liking.
