Stayed one Saturday night in June 24 and ate in the restaurant. Staff were all friendly, food was very good. Booked a family room which turned to be 2 separate bedrooms with a shared shower room - ideal for us as we’re a couple with a teenage daughter. Room is clean and everything works as it should. The only caveat I’d have when booking is to remember that you’re staying above a pub, so it’s noisy until after midnight when the drinkers have all gone home. If that’s an issue, bring earplugs! Thank you to all staff the Hollies for their hospitality

Today I came in for a roast with a friend after hearing all about how good a roast is at the Hollies. We walked in and went to the bar to notify we had a table booked at 1pm, we were then sat at our table (without a menu) As a new person to the Hollies I was unsure of how we went about ordering our food and drinks. After 15 minutes of waiting I decided to go up to the bar and ask how we went about ordering food and drinks, The member of staff said “well do you know what you want” I said no sorry as we haven’t yet had a menu. She then went and got some menus and put them on the bar. We ordered or x2 roast beef and drinks at the bar. The food came out shortly after, I was disappointed to find that our vegetables were very hard and stuffing was dry. No table check was done to notify the staff how our food was. I would understand if it was super busy and the staff were rushed off their feet but this wasn’t the case. I hope this feedback can be used as good constructive criticism of how to improve. Sadly won’t be back

Well what an experience!! We were taken to a table where there was no light above as the bulb had gone! Really looking forward to our Sunday Roast!! There were no words!! Im not one to be speechless but today i was, our both lunches were pre carved meats no taste, the vegetables were over cooked pale in colour, except for the cauliflower cheese umm was raw with a tiny bit of cheese melted on top no cheese sauce!! Service not good either young girls not much experience. So just don't waste your time and precious money going here to be disappointed.

I stayed here a month or so ago with work for a couple of nights and really enjoyed my stay. I was working long hours on a site nearby so I didn't end up eating any meals here which was a shame, but the menu looked fantastic. I ended up just getting takeaways as I wanted something quick that I could take to my room. The room itself was really cosy and clean and ideal for me. I saw some comments about the sloping floor but I had no issues at all with this. The only downside was the noise from the pub below, more so on the Friday night which seemed to go on into the early hours, but on the second night I was far too tired to hear anything. You've got to expect this to an extent when staying in a pub though. The toilet seat could do with being looked at too as it would move all over the place when sat on it. What I loved about this place was there was plenty of parking and it was never an issue, even in my VW crafter. It was also great having access to the rooms through the beer garden so I didn't have to trapse through the pub as I came and went. I'd happily stay here again in the future.

Very pleased to find a nice friendly pub with a good room with lots of light and well decorated.Bathroom spotless and nice shower cubicle. Nothing fancy but perfect for our stay. The Landlord and all his staff were super friendly ad couldn't do enough.Sadly when we arrived at the beginning of the week their kitchen wasn't open for dinner but they organised a take away for us and that was great.

We have just returned from a trip to Wiltshire over the weekend. We stayed at the Hollies Inn. When we arrived we were nicely welcomed and told about the breakfast times but we did feel that it would have been good if we had been provided with a short information sheet of the facilities, i.e. the internet password and price of breakfasts etc because there was too much to remember otherwise. It was good having on-sight parking. However, parking was a bit difficult during the day and early evening when locals were visiting the Inn. It wasn't always easy to find a space. About a week before we went we had two invoices, one with £140 on it and one with £160. When we went to pay, we were charged the higher amount. We felt that we should have been charged the lesser amount or at least met in the middle at £150. The price also didn't include breakfast so if you were staying a week or so paying for breakfast would soon push up the price even further. The room was however very comfortable, with a kettle, iron, microwave and mini fridge, so overall an average score given.

Had a group of 7 here for a birthday day for my dad and sister. Everyone really enjoyed it - including the dog who we were happy to have been able to bring! Great service from the lady who sorted us out. Good value food and plenty of it. Was relatively quiet in the restaurant when we went (a saturday evening) and it was nice to feel like we had enough room to stretch out a little. Excellent game pie special - my dad and brother were impressed. The only things we could fault it on was that there were not tons of veg options, the room was a little too hot (we were in the window and none were open… hey ho!) and at the time we went, there were no draught ales on which was definitely a bit of a let down for some of us. But all in all, will visit again with the family and see if anything changes next time! 👍

Visited for Sunday roast. The meat and roast potatoes were lovely though served in a mass produced, frozen, Yorkshire pudding that didn’t taste the best. Mix of frozen vegetables, some needing a steak knife to cut. Ordered a side of pigs in blankets that were pretty disgusting! Cheap and cheerful but definitely not big on quality. There are better places locally to try. Interesting that as we were leaving another table seemed to have ‘real’ Yorkshire puddings?

I'll start by saying the staff were great, welcoming and friendly. They quickly saw us up to our rooms and went through food bookings and options. The rooms are plenty big enough for us all for the night and look a typical pub type room with a nice enough feel to it. Unfortunately our room slanted downwards and one of the beds was set up in line with it meaning you had the feeling all night of being pulled downwards and out of bed. The beds themselves we all agree had really uncomfortable mattresses, with even the youngest of the group struggling to stay comfortable and asleep all night. If you're not good with noise, avoid on a weekend as you can hear the pub very clearly which is to be expected .Though to give complete credit to the pub, everyone was at a really respectful noice level and left bang on closing time with no issues.

Booked a table on the Thursday night for a friends birthday on the Friday. We arrived ten minutes before our booked time and we had chosen a table the night before. Table was unlaid and was a rush to move tables which we done ourselves and cutlery plonked on the end of table. Marrianne took our order and we requested mash on one as guest did not want chips. Dinner arrived no mash we questioned why and was told they had none. If we were told at ordering my guest would have chosen something else. Burger was ok bacon really over cooked and crispy chips way over cooked on all our meals and with the steak meals only probably bout 6 or 8 chips on the plate for 15 quid !!! We had cancelled at another pub to come here so not really impressed. I think if ur a regular at this pub ur face fits but a few extra touches to the service and attention to detail i.e what food available and what wasn’t. Don’t think I will be back to eat here as I didn’t feel it was value for money especially the steak meal.

I took my mother here for lunch. We both elected to have a roast pork lunch - it was Sunday after all. Our meals arrived very quickly but were very unappealing. The pork was from a pre-prepared roll rather than a freshly roasted joint. The roast potatoes, parsnips and crackling were out of a packet and the two former very dry. The gravy was thin. What struck us immediately was that all the above were an identical shade of brown, the only contrast provided by the carrots, green beans (3 of them between us both!) and sprig of watercress on the plate (actually lovely). The cauliflower cheese was tasty. I don't expect restaurant quality food for the price asked in a pub but this, though perfectly edible, was pretty poor. The service provided was good, as was the selection of real ales offer - oh, and mother said the coffee she finished off with was excellent.

As the name suggests, the Hollies Inn is a pub with what seems to be four rooms for overnight guests. I noticed that other reviewers had commented upon the noise from downstairs in the bar, although I must admit that on the one night stay I didn't notice it unduly. For the price, the accommodation is fair. Our room was neat and tidy and the bathroom was well presented, although the shower itself was fairly weak. There was also some confusion over whether a full English or simply a Continental breakfast would be available. The most frustrating thing however was the rather early check out time of 9:30am, which to be fair the establishment guide did make clear from the outset, but even so...

We had prebooked as this is one of the few pubs in the area that offer a gluten free meal which is what one of our party wanted. We did have to wait for about 45 mins for our food to arrive,(although as mentioned we had ordered a gluten free dish so this may have added to the wait time) and they seemed short on waiting staff that particular day, with one poor waitress running around trying to serve all the seated parties. She was bright and cheerful considering though. All the staff behind the bar seemed friendly which is a real plus! The food was good, it came out hot and the portions were quite generous. Portions were just right for us to be able to enjoy a pudding. Coat was surprising. We eat at prezzo fairly regularly; a very similar meal he tonight was about 2/3 the cost so very happy with that.

Just had lunch in The Hollies today, It was a lovely, flavoursome experience.I do RECOMMEND you book a table with The Hollies BEFORE you arrive, because that's what the company prefers. My friend and I turned up today with no booked table, although its not what they like there and the Barman clearly stated that booking a table was the done thing to eat there. They did accomodate us over the lunchtime and we ordered from the lunch menu which is very different to the Evening meal menu.My partner and I have been before but that was before christmas and it was also for dinner, again we didnt book a table, but it was so quiet in there, it hardly seems worth booking a table, the same for the lunchtime menu. But because it is so quiet in there, that is why they require you to book, so they can have the chef in the kitchen. Its a shame it doesn't have alot of people going there? It is a lovely pub, and at lunchtimes it had an ambiance, a few different changes since I was there before Christmas, and it has changed the way it looks. Its more traditional now and doesn't look so clinical.Service was great, well mannered and very friendly staff.Prices vary from £4.50 for a Jacket Potato to a full lunch menu of £5.95 or less.Food does take a while to come, but REAL food does need to be cooked properly so unless you want a fast meal (go to McDonalds) you may have to wait 20-30 mins for it to arrive, but it IS WELL WORTH IT!I can recommend the Faggot and veg meal and my friend said the Scampi meal was very good. We both really enjoyed our lunches there and certainly for the future if they continue to do Lunches, (which they said they were going to phase out due to no one using them for lunch) we will book a table.

Booked in for a family occasion here and was very disappointed. We walked in and sat down, staff were very friendly. We last come about 8 years ago on a family members birthday (different owners) thought we would go back. We had roast dinners all round but unfortunately didn't enjoy it very much. The Yorkshires were frozen in the middle by time we got them back we had almost finished. The swede was cold, and the carrots/parsnips were hard. Even if the veg was cooked properly I dont believe a very small dish of veg was enough to share between 4 people. The meat was how ever very well cooked although it did not state on the menu that the chicken was on the bone which I personally don't like. Even though the manager was very apologetic and discounted the bill I'm afraid I wouldn't go back or recommended.

It's a long time since we have been in the Hollies, and a lot has changed. It was quite the day we went in, nice clean dinning area, modern. The food was very good great home made big crunchy, fluffy on the inside Chips. As good as I can make at home. Bottle of wine reasonably priced to round of the meal. Well worth a visit.

Visited at the weekend. First impression was ok, looked nice and clean. No particular atmosphere to the place though. First note, we were eating as a family of two adults, a three year old and an almost one year old. They seemed rather short staffed, one girl appeared to be the only person behind the bar and doing all the waitressing so obviously service was rather slow. It wasn't particularly toddler friendly, lit candles on every table, disposable table runners that kept pulling everything over and death glares from a few diners when our baby dared make a noise. The food was average, we all had roast dinners. My husbands beef was lovely, toddlers chicken was really nice too but my pork was completely tasteless. The vegetables had all been microwaved to reheat and that had turned them to barely edible mush. Yorkshires were homemade and nice. A little common sense might be called for when it comes to putting toddlers dinners on piping hot plates though although they were quick to take it back when I commented. All together average, wouldn't be fussed about going back but served a purpose.

We've lived in Westbury for 2 yrs now, and rarely visit any pubs here.I came across this pub when surfing Tripadvisor. Most of the reviews were good, except for one. But could have been the Chef's night off that one time. So decided to try it.Inside its spacious and modern. Sky TV for sports and the usual stuff, table and chairs, BAR and Dart board. It has a low beamed ceiling and the pub is open plan, so no quiet nooks to sit in. It does echo quite a bit, and there appeared to be a party in for a Christmas Do when we arrived later in the evening. So it was very loud, but when the TV had finished showing Football, the music got put on and it was way too loud! The atmosphere is as others say, very little ambience, but looking around the pub the mini lights in the ceiling are bright, maybe less wattage may make for a lower lit room, giving the place more ambiance. Still it was clean and fresh.Service was fast, food was brilliant - cant fault that at all! Price is a bit more than your Weatherspoons or Hungry Horse prices, but more in line with the Table Table pub prices and all fresh, fresh veg and salads. My partner had a massive 12OZ Beef Burger, I'm afraid we took the chips home in a doggy bag, they were BIIIIIIGGG CHIPS!!!!! I had the Faggots dinner it was really nice. Not too full of liver, just right and they were big too.It was nice to have a real coca cola from a bottle. None of this gassed up syrupy stuff from the bar. So quality at each corner.Facilities wise, I found them to be of a high standard and very clean. Everything inside has been decorated to a high standard. Outside the pub although it is literally on the road, does have a large car park. It isn't lit and it is an odd shape, so beware when you drive in there in the dark.Overall, I'd had a pretty crumby day and it was just so nice to get out and try somwhere different that came up to a high standard in my book and it was very refreshing. We will be returning and I do recommend it to anyone who decides to drop in.

Have had family meals here on a Sunday & although difficult to please all the personal tastes, every plate was cleared as food exceptional. We regularly go on Thursday steak night or Friday fish night & I know the quizz night is regularly full. The bar is often fun with lots of enjoyable locals to talk to & I always have a warm welcome from the friendly staff. Seriously, what's not to like?!

Living locally it is a bonus to have somewhere near us that does amazing food - albeit dangerous Charlie and his Team have done an amazing job transforming The Hollies. As a frequent traveller with work eating out in many restaurants and pubs, it makes me realise how lucky we are to have such a great place to eat and drink on our doorstep.

I stayed overnight before I attended the AOSB at Westbury. The room was very spacious and the bed was comfortable. Everything required was included in the room and the food was also nice. It seemed good value for money for the local area, it was well placed in only a 10 minute walk to Westbury and the staff were friendly and accommodating.

Food is vastly overpriced, and really bad. Steaks were full of fat, chips still hard, fish looked big but was all batter and the fish inside was small and grey! Bread was stale, salad was poor, presentation was very poor. When we complained, they said they'd tell the manager. When I went to pay, and asked to see the manager, they said 'he's up stairs having his dinner and doesn't want to be disturbed' Even though he'd been informed of our complaint, he couldn't be bothered to speak to us. They would not knock a penny off the bill. Very bad, never going again.

My parents have recently moved to the area and we spent the afternoon in The Hollies as it wasn't too far from Dilton Marsh. It isn't your typical British pub and has a brighter interior with a projector for sport and some comfy sofas along with your standard table and chairs. There is your typical lagers available and a good but small choice of ales and ciders to choose from. The food was very good and offers a slight twist on some typical pub food. You can always get some classic dishes that are well done. The pub also have a steak night where you can get a good steak for a reasonable price. Having tried a few pubs in the area since my parents moved to Wiltshire, I think the Hollies would now be our go to pub as it offers great food and drink to satisfy anyone.

Had Sunday Lunch recently for 6 adults, we all agreed that the meal was excellent - even my 80 year old father who is really hard to please! Selected from Sunday Lunch menu, all dietary needs catered for. Well stocked bar, good wine list and very friendly and well presented staff.Plenty of parking available, restaurant is in very good order, toilets are immaculate! We could not understand why there were not many customers, the pub was closed for a while and it is probably difficult in this economic climate to get the customers back! They were doing a roaring trade in 'take away' food as well.Gripes - none really, if picky the red wine was a little cold.£8.50 for main and under £5.00 for puddings, starters available. Kids welcome.Recommended!

This review is for The Hollies, Westbury Leigh, Wiltshire (not London?!) We went as a pre ordered party for a friends birthday on a Saturday night a couple of weeks ago & the food & service was terrible. We waited at least an hour for starters, with one party member receiving their forgotten soup as we all finished our starters!! The Camembert came with 3 thin & tiny pre packed slices of bread, not even amounting to a slice, therefore a lot of cheese was wasted (French sticks are easy to acquire & cut up I thought?!) my main was salmon, which once again came with a wilted salad garnish!, the salmon was over cooked with no seasoning and it came served with tagliatelle, which had literally just been lifted straight out of the water and dumped on the side of the plate. My partner had a burger, which was small, bad quality & accompanied by undercooked chips & wilted salad! The meal was complained about during the courses and we received an apology from the young waitress, explaining the chef was off!!Had it been just the two of us, we would have refused to pay and probably left half way through, but when the meal has been arranged by friends, it's somewhat more difficult!! (Although I now thoroughly regret wasting £50 on a meal which I could honestly have cooked better myself!)Never again!

This could be a really lovely, friendly little pub but it doesn't quite hit the mark. The interior has been redecorated - it looks clean and fresh but lacks style, cosiness and a warm colour scheme. The furniture would be more fitting in a chain French style cafe than in an historic pub. The fact that only one other person was in the pub probably didn't help with the cosiness. The selection of beverages is limited. There are a few real ales which don't appear to change often but not a pear cider in sight and very few bottled beers. We ate in the restaurant - our second attempt as on the first occasion we were told that the kitchen had shut early as nobody had been in for food. This in itself isn't a fantastic advertisement for the pub; either you're serving until a set time or you're not. In the end, the food was the best thing about the pub - good quality pub grub and generous portions, if a little on the expensive side when compared to like pubs in the area. Compliments to the chef!Staff provided good service but on the few times that I've tried the pub I didn't get a 'thanks for coming, it would be great to see you again' kind of feel. The atmosphere felt a little starchy. Despite liking the food I'd rather eat somewhere with a vibe.

The Hollies has been refurbished recently and is much better inside than the outside would appear. There is an extensive menu with many very good dishes. They also have an increasing number of special evenings such as a steak night. Although it is rather better furnished, more comfortable and cared for than in the past, it is still the village pub with all the extra atmosphere. There are usually several draught beers on pumps (plus all the usual fizzy stuff - that might sound biased!) and lots of sofas. There is a also a beer garden and a good sized dining room. I have eaten here several times recently and it the food is good, service friendly and the place is comfortable, clean and tidy. Can't fault it.I notice that this web site is asking me if they do deliveries - I don't think so but they do offer a take-away Sunday lunch!

This is a newly refurbished pub in a part of Westbury you wouldn't drive through so it needs all the help it can get. We went on a special priced steak night, really good value, good steak and pleasant wine at a good price, but we were the only people there. Such a shame as its spotless and the staff are very friendly. Trouble is its off the main road. I am writing this in the hope people will try it. its really worth it. It wont set the world on fire but that's not what you want all the time.

With roads closed or completely impassable due to the severe rain from Storm Bert, we finally gave up trying to get home late on Sunday evening and parked up in the car park of the Bolingbroke. Too worried to go any further, we nervously knocked on the door, despite the pub being officially closed, and to our relief was invited in and offered a room for the night. Jo and Rob looked after us all evening, the room was clean and perfect for the emergency overnight stay and even made us breakfast before we set off in the morning. I can thank you both enough for your hospitality and kindness in what was, quite literally, an incredibly stressful occasion. Would recommend to anyone and even planning a return trip, under better conditions, to come back and say thank you once again. Wonderful. Ray and Marion

The website states it’s open until 4pm, it doesn’t say the kitchen closed at 2:30pm. We were happy to have cold quiches but the waitress made us feel so unwelcome even though we spent £46. She then cleaned the table implying we should leave, so we did and we won’t be coming back!

We visited on a Sunday for breakfast. Arriving a couple of minutes after 10am (opening time), we queued for a table and then again to order food. There were plenty of tables but appreciated it was busy - not all tables were full. We waited for 50 minutes for our food to arrive, although coffee arrived much earlier. This was prompted by us asking where our food was/checking the order had been made, to which we were told ‘we’d just have to wait because it was busy’. The food arrived 5 minutes later. The food was tasty and we’ve no complaints about the quality or price. But, something about the system here just doesn’t make sense, queuing at every point and then waiting another 50 minutes for scrambled eggs on toast and a bacon sandwich, doesn’t make sense. We arrived at 10 and didn’t leave until 12:15…. People had started arriving for lunch! Sadly, we’d not return. There are just other places nearby that are doing it better.

We visited with family from France with dog who were looking forward to visiting for coffee and a light snack for lunch,we arrived on a dry bright Sunday lunch, although relatively busy, there were several tables empty, albeit full of dirty leftovers, when we pointed this out to the lovely girl behind d counter she promptly cleared table and wiped, from this point expectations fell away quickly, there was absolutely nothing to eat except carrot cake or muffins fresh or pre packed biscuits and flapjack ! We mentioned this to the counter staff who just said sorry were short staffed and low on food, there were 8 members of staff behind the counter ! Oh well, we ordered coffee which hit the spot first round fine, second round incorrect, then members of our party wished to visit the loo before leaving, a queue of several people waiting constantly to use 1 toilet that was disgustingly dirty from top to bottom ! All in all a poor experience of what some 18 months ago was a lovely place to visit, maybe it was just an Off day, but to have that many staff not doing a lot or cared a lot, not sure I would be in a hurry to revisit
