Lovely afternoon tea, great atmosphere and friendly service.

Don't miss this beautiful place when you visit Glasgow! The atmosphere is great, the staff was very nice and helpful. The tea was served in a funny teapot. We had a sandwich and a wrap, both were great.

Place needs a good cleaning. Utensils, cups and tea strainer could use a good blast with hot water. Waiter was great, service quick, food rather mediocre. Cute location for sure. I’ve had a lot of afternoon tea but this was very bland.

The easiest 5 out of 5 stars I’ve ever rated. The ambiance of this place is super cute and the staff incredibly nice. They were happy to serve me something from the Lunch menu before it was lunchtime. I ordered the bacon & avocado toast and a vanilla latte and thoroughly enjoyed it. While heading out I ordered a slice of lemon cake for take-away to eat later in a park. If you ever visit Glasgow I would say this place is a must-visit!

This was one of the worst dining experiences I've ever had. We waited 10 minutes just for our drinks order to be taken, and it took another 10 minutes for the drinks to arrive. After placing our food order, we were informed 25 minutes later that they were out of chicken. We chose different items, but they still brought the wrong food. I will never come back here again. If I had the option to give it 0 stars I would 1 star is beyond generous

I do not understand the good reviews. The place was cute but was hidden. Hot chocolate was not good at all (seems like it's powder chocolate and not real melted chocolate) and the food was small and average. Really small piece of salmon so for the price, it's really expensive. Would not return

En una escapada de fin de semana en Glasgow decidí visitarlo en base a las increíbles críticas que había leído y no me decepcionó! Un pequeño lugar precioso, personal fantástico y comida de calidad tan fresca! Excelente menú de almuerzo y el bollo de manzana que tuve fue posiblemente el mejor que he comido! Combinado con mantequilla salada y mermelada de fresa mis papilas gustativas simplemente explotaron, intenté guardar la mitad para más tarde, pero el bollo era tan ligero y fresco que me lo comí todo de una vez. No puedo esperar para volver y recomiendo encarecidamente

A really nice little place serving afternoon tea and light bites. I had the Haggis sandwich which was amazing, everything is reasonably priced and served in quick time from ordering, well worth a visit

This hidden gem at the hidden lane is absolutely worth the visit. We went for an afternoon tea and everything from sandwiches to cakes was delicious. I had peach milk chai and it was so nice as well. The staff were all very friendly and kind. Perfect place to catch up with a friend over some tea!

The afternoon tea set was excellent. From savory to sweet, everything was delicious, and the price was very reasonable. The tea cocktail was especially brilliant—I had the best tea of my life!

¡Si estás sentado subiendo las escaleras olvídalo! ¡Estás olvidado! ¡Fui con mi familia para un regalo de cumpleaños para mi sobrina! Había hablado antes de tiempo sobre un par de sándwiches simples para mi sobrina menor, que malinterpretan claramente y todos los sándwiches eran simples y agobiantes y de sabor barato. Todo lo que podías probar era “mantequilla” Por el precio era muy agobiante, el servicio es extremadamente lento, todo el té estaba terminado para cuando llegó la comida. Mi madre pidió más té que es la norma en un té de la tarde para que le dijeran una olla y listo. No hay asignaciones para cualquiera que no beba té para obtener una bebida dentro de las asignaciones de té de la tarde. Pedimos agua y no recibimos hasta que la comida estaba casi terminada. Los pasteles no se podían llamar delicados, eran tan pequeños. No había conversación con ninguno de los empleados, era como si fuéramos una carga.

A £ 22 por persona para el té de la tarde esperábamos una experiencia especial, pero nos decepcionó. Si bien la comida era lo suficientemente agradable - 2 sándwiches y un envoltorio cada uno, además de un bollo y algunos pasteles delicados, ciertamente no merecía la etiqueta de precio. Una olla muy pequeña de té cada uno y que estaba casi terminado para cuando llegó la comida. No era la emocionante salida de la tarde que esperábamos. Entramos y salimos en 40 minutos!

We waited for over 50 minutes for two sandwiches that were slightly stale and just mediocre at best. The atmosphere of the place is nice but the wait time and service was just horrific.

Had an amazing afternoon at The Hidden Lane Tearoom Glasgow, with my daughter treating us to afternoon tea. First time here for us both & it was just perfect (weather aside) Lunch was excellent, for both taste and amount and we highly recommend it. I had the Gluten Free afternoon tea & was not disappointed by single crumb. Will def be back 💜🫖🧁🥪

A friend went here and after they said they could cater to religious dietary requirements they failed to. When questioned the staff members made them feel like they were an inconvenience. If you cant cater for all dietary requirements then you should not be running a food business/ tell customers at time of booking rather than lying and ruining someones experience which they paid for.

This review is more for “The Hidden Lane”! It’s aptly called ‘Hidden’ as it is located very inconspicuously! You blink and miss the entrance to the Lane! Although it is recommended for people visiting Glasgow to visit this place, I would suggest that you can give it a miss. Nothing much to do once you reach there!

Llegué al salón de té para nuestra reserva de las 4 pm. Mostrado a nuestro asiento y emitido con un menú. Luego nos informaron que la cocina cierra a las 4 pm. Preguntamos esto pero nos encontramos con un encogimiento de hombros. Preguntó qué opciones había entonces disponibles. La camarera señaló la opción de almuerzo. Desafortunadamente optamos por esta opción. La camarera llegó a nuestra mesa con una olla de té guisado. Luego esperamos otros 15 minutos por 3 platos de sándwiches de perritos y 3 bollos no tan frescos. Tuvimos que pedir agua caliente para completar nuestro té frío. Muy decepcionado en nuestra visita. ¡Quizás el salón de té debería permanecer oculto!

Fui a tomar el té de la tarde con mis hermanas. Era realmente sucio y horrible. Los vasos de prosecco estaban sucios. El personal tuvo que traernos otros nuevos (que eran mejores, pero todavía tenía suciedad y marcas de lápiz labial). Las tazas de té y los cubiertos también estaban sucios. Tuvimos que esperar más de una hora para que llegara la comida y más de 50 minutos para el té y el café. El lugar también era incómodamente cálido en octubre y los pasteles se estaban derritiendo. Dada la mala limpieza y el servicio y pedí que el cargo por propina y descorche fuera eliminado de la factura. El personal estuvo de acuerdo, pero fue muy grosero al respecto. Nunca volvería.

Hidden Lane Tea Room offers a delightful experience with attentive staff and fast service. I visited this place on a Sunday at 4pm with my fiancé and my future in-laws. They had nothing but praise for the staff and the environment especially the hospitality during our experience with the tea room. The "wee tea" menu is charming, featuring a variety of tasty options that cater to different tastes. All of us ordered wee tea and they arranged it beautifully in a two tier afternoon tea setting- showing that they go above and beyond in their service. Overall, it’s a cozy spot perfect for a quick tea break or a leisurely catch-up with family. Highly recommended!

Cute little spot hidden off the Finnieston main strip. I found the scone especially tasty with a crunchy sugar coating, and the chutney nicely complimented the streaky bacon roll. I could eat many of the onion muffins. Delicious dhesi chai as well! This was the morning tea service.

Took 50 minutes for our food (scrambled egg on toast) to arrive. Staff were unapologetic.

Pregunté sobre la comida (básicamente huevos revueltos en tostadas) que también se había pedido y se le dijo que iban a hacer el nuestro a continuación. Después de otros 20 minutos pregunté de nuevo. Dijeron que habían dado la comida a otra mesa. No te disculpes. Tuve que preguntar una vez más cuándo podíamos esperar nuestra comida y me dijeron 5 - 10 minutos. No llegó. Se rindió y pidió pagar por nuestras bebidas. Una vez más, sin disculpas. Entiendo que a veces la carga de trabajo puede ser alta y se cometen errores, pero por favor, al menos finja hacerse cargo.

Reserve una mesa para las 11 am. Las bebidas llegaron 40 minutos después. Preguntó cuánto tiempo nuestro brunch sería aconsejado a continuación. Pedimos de nuevo que nos dijeran que nuestra orden había sido dada a otra mesa por error. Aconsejamos estar con nosotros en cinco minutos. Diez minutos más tarde nos fuimos sin haber comido y sin haber perdido casi hora y media de vida. No se ofrecen disculpas.

The tea room is beautiful. The girls and boys there really have attention to detail. The service was really great & we ate our best scones there so far. We can only recommend the Team Room and if we are in Glasgow again, we would be happy to come back :)

It’s a lovely looking cafe and previous times I’ve came in for tea coffee and cake has been lovely, however we were left very disappointed with our breakfast today. I would recommended going to your closest supermarket to make your own, it would be cheaper, nicer and quicker. The bread was just basic supermarket break, the eggs where dry and my salmon was a bit dried out (oxidised) my mum ordered the scrambled eggs with extra bacon, not sure where the extra bacon was as two tiny rashes appeared for £2 My boyfriend ordered the pancakes with bacon for a whole £9 he got two small flat pancakes (tesco store bought ones would’ve been more exciting) and again too sad small pieces of bacon, we had to stop elsewhere afterwards to actually feel like we’d eaten something. Perhaps I’m just used to the competitors in finneston for the same price your left with a full happy belly, however we where so disappointed and I genuinely would suggest saving your money or going elsewhere. Again their scones and cakes are lovely but they should perhaps rethink their breakfast options…

It was a disappointing experience. The tea and the location itself were nice, but we waited over an hour and a half for a very small portion of lunch sandwiches and scones. The food was good, but the service was not really. There was no understanding, we asked multiple times when the food would arrive. There also was no music at all and it was pretty loud. Not as great as the comments say. We won't come back.

BEST gluten-free, locally owned tea and pastry shop I’ve ever seen. The only place I’ve ever found gluten-free scones and they’re incredible. All of the sandwiches we had were lovely, and the tea pots are all unique and clearly a curation of a true collection. Amazing staff and cute, quaint shop with restrooms, water, etc. A must visit if you’re GF and or vegan!

Booked a table at the Hidden Lane Tearoom for myself and a friend to catch up over lunch. The place is so cute. Menu is perfect for lunch with really nice sandwich combos, hot drinks and cakes. Unfortunately, the service was incredibly slow. It took almost 45 minutes for two wraps and two bowls of soup. The food was nice enough, although for the price, the wraps could have done with more filling in them and more than just a handful of crisps on the side. We had scones after and they were lovely, but again, there was a long wait for them. It’s a nice place in a really lovely location in Finnieston, but the slow service let it down.

Bought as a Mother’s Day gift and had been looking forward to going. Took my mother and daughter with me. Hidden Lane itself was lovely, sun shining and a great atmosphere. That said, if you have any mobility issues the cobbled entrance can be a problematic walk. Arrived in tea room, table wasn’t ready so they quickly wiped it down and we were seated. For the £66 price tag we were excited about our afternoon tea. At first glance on arrival the presentation looked nice (see pictures) but our excitement was quickly extinguished when we went to try things. Sandwiches, “made fresh this morning” but clearly these hadn’t been stored properly as by 14:00 they were very sad and bread was drying out. Very little filling in the sandwiches bulked out with lettuce, A small duck wrap again with only a hint of filling, Cakes were average (left some partially eaten) and scones small and quite tasteless, despite what looked like lovely larger scones sitting on the counter for other non-afternoon tea customers. On the plus side the tea itself was tasty and the high tea, for my egg allergy daughter, was kept separate as requested, hence second star. Even if at a lesser price tag I probably wouldn’t recommend this for an afternoon tea, but would possibly say to go for a pot of tea, maybe order one of those counter scones instead and see if they taste as good as they looked.

Very hidden and more than worth the search

Such a pretty little place to visit. Staff friendly and attentive. Loved the interesting decor and all the cute attention to detail. Food was good and loved that they sold quality tea, that was great and makes such a difference if you are a tea drinker like myself. Went on Thursday afternoon and will definitely return. ❤️

We liked this cute colorful cafe, the decoration was old fashioned but beautiful, the girl who served us super polite and helpful, breakfast and prices were decent, the scone which is their signature was tasty, what we didn’t like is that if you like the morning tea which is kind of combo of breakfast and sweets you have to book 24 hours in advance online to have it prepared for you, which makes no sense as if you see what it’s included it - is more or less what they have already in their menu.

For a little timeless moment, in a “tea room” atmosphere, I recommend this address. The waitress communicates her calm to the customer, the food is really very good. However, I would have been delighted to have a “homemade” jam. But that's really incidental.

Absolutely loved our trip to the hidden lane. A real gem in the centre of Glasgow. Colourful and packed with atmosphere. The tea room is quaint, quiet and absolutely what you would want from a tea room. I had the wee tea and my daughter had a sandwich. Everything was perfect and delicious, I only wish we knew we’d have been the day before so I could have booked us a high tea. Will definitely be back to try another time

This once fabulous little tearoom appears to have changed hands. Recently had an awful lunch here - food was terrible, as was the service. Very disappointing as have visited this tearoom many times, it was a total gem but sadly this appears to no longer be the case. It was also notably quiet, clearly losing customers.

Pretty disappointing. Didn't get exactly what we ordered and part of the advertised food was missing, too (which we didn't dare point out as it would've meant an even longer wait for our food). The soup (carrot) tasted and smelled absolutely awful. Scones/cake were pretty good, albeit extremely sweet. Waitress was very friendly but overall the service was terribly slow. We were done with our tea before the scones had even arrived. Shame, since the place itself is really cute and inviting.

The food was fresh, the atmosphere was cozy and the staff were friendly, definitely recommend.

A lovely place! I ordered a tchai, smoked salmon, cheese and rucula with toasts, and a sweet scone. Everything was excellent 👌 The host John qas really kind and attentive. If you are in Glasgow, I definitely recommend the Hidden Lane Tea House.

The cutest place to get some tea in Glasgow! Try the English breakfast and the peach tea, and if you are hungry, the pancakes were delicious (perhaps the best bacon I’ve ever had)! Prettiest spot to take some photos and chat to the friendliest staff!

We went for a wee tea for two. Food items were great; my desi chai was too mild, it was just like warmed-up milk. The plus-sized red-headed waitress had absolutely no customer service skills, she needs to up her game. The other staff were absolutely charming.

Indicated on the backpacker as a good address, the environment is interesting. Remember to book.

Was £65 for afternoon tea which was really poor! Stale sandwiches with hardly any fillings definitely not worth the money. The hidden lane itself is lovely

- good location, cozy, nice ambience, music was not too loud - the staff were ok. Friendliness was low in explaining what the menu offered - when asked about the calories in menu items, they said “they didn’t have a clue where to start. No one has ever asked that question here”. It was strange that the staff was blunt and didn’t care to offer any help on calorie count.

I went here twice just to get a full feel of afternoon tea. Both days they were extremely busy and it was difficult to arrive, so I recommend planning ahead to make a reservation. The food and tea options are very good. It's easy to mix and match, especially for a solo diner. Thanks for fitting me in! 👏🏾✨

Great place for brunch and coffee

Lovely tucked away spot with several different artisan shops, studios & cafes. Would really recommend Crikey Studio down there!

We were met with an officious worker who seemed to use their ponderous app platform as the final say in a reservation snafu. We were made to feel a lot less important than their all-important rule book. This little hole in the wall was nearly empty, so treating us like actual customers instead of passers-by would have been easy to pull off, but no, so we left without ordering anything.

Very unprofessional and complicated website, had to book a day in advance for some afternoon tea (spoke with a girl on the phone a day prior). Made the reservation for 12:30 specifically for afternoon tea and after we arrived, the worker said that the reservation didn’t go through because it had to be 24 hours on the dot, i booked the reservation the day before at 1 o clock….30 minute difference?!?! no accommodation was made whatsoever so we left. Doesn’t seem like the business is sophisticated enough to rely so heavily on a website to dictate how they run things.

Booked in for afternoon tea. Service was very slow and we were given dirty crockery and dirty tea strainer. (I have pictured the ‘clean’ strainer we were given as replacement). The teapot was cracked, which is a hygiene issued as cracked pots obviously cannot be cleaned correctly and is not foodsafe. The area around our table was dirty, our seats were ripped and the cushioning was coming out. Food was horrible apart from the mini homemade scones. We didn’t get all the items advertised - instead got 2 sandwiches a handful of cakes and a pot of tea for £40 which is daylight robbery. Don’t waste your money go to the willow tea rooms instead Didn’t feel comfortable making a complaint in the tearoom as the staff seemed busy and unfriendly. I appreciate this may have been an off day so I emailed the manager who just said their food is lovely and all dishes clean 🤷🏻‍♀️

Had regular sandwich for lunch. All ingredients are not very fresh. Not tried the tea set yet so not sure will ie be better if it’s cakes and desserts.

Cute little tea house along a hidden lane 🙃 we met the friendliest doggo on our way in and had a chat with one of their regular customers, which made the entire trip worthwhile. The food was decent, soup was good, and the fruit scone was much better than the apple and cinnamon one. Acoustics in the place could be better, as it got pretty echo-y and loud with all tables filled. All in, it was a good time but felt a little underwhelming considering the reviews we had seen before coming by.

Went to the hidden lane tea room twice on our trip and both times their Wee Tee was impeccable! Especially the scones are to die for. We tried the English breakfast tea, dhesi chai and Bollywood chai and every single one of them was delicious! Service in both the trips was okay given that there is only one person who serves almost everyone and they have to do multiple trips to bring the food and other paraphernalia which leads to some items being skipped or missed. But once requested, they do bring it at some point in time. All in all, it's a must visit if you are in Glasgow and want to have the most delicious scones!

SUCH a cute place! It was tricky to locate, but nearby shops will let you know how to get there. The place is suuuuer pretty and larger than you would think. The sandwiches and tea were delicious, staff were amazingly friendly, and i would definitely go again if I could 😍

Lovely place, great choice of cakes and their scones look delicious too. We had brunch and I tried chai for the first time which was fab, loads of drink choices. Service couldn’t have been better, will definitely visit on my next trip.

As a chai fanatic, this place is right up my street! Ordered the Yogi Chai with coconut milk and it was packed full of flavour. The atmosphere was lovely, one of our favourite songs was playing when we entered. Service a tiny bit slow but very friendly staff. A wee gem down The Hidden Lane. Would recommend!

I discovered the address on Instagram and it immediately made me want it! We ordered tea morning, it's like a breakfast but less substantial. It was very good, the place very cute and the person welcoming.

This was my first visit to the tearoom. We had booked the event area for a private function. We had specified some dietary requirements, which you need to notify of in advance. I chose the Vegan option, which was very tasty. The vegan savoury choices were a haggis, cheese and chutney wrap, a coronation chickpea with red onion sandwic, and a houmous, tomato, cucumber and onion sandwich. Sweet options included an empire biscuit, cupcake and a granola slice. A wide variety of teas are available, including several chai options, the Bollywood chai was particularly nice. The service could have been quicker, as it was half an hour before our drinks order was taken. It also took a while for the teas and afternoon teas to be served. Our reservation was from 1:30pm, and we unintentionally went past our alloted time. We were quite curtly told that we were meant to have left at 3:30pm, although no member of staff gave us any prompts of this while we were there. The afternoon tea was priced at £21.99, which was reasonable. I would suggest that customer service could be improved, as some of the staff seemed a bit uninterested.

Delightfully decorated cute tearoom in the left corner of the magical Hidden Lane. The staff is super friendly, mindful of allergies and tastes. We had the Afternoon Tea and it was absolutely awesome. The location was so beautiful that we ended up spending the whole afternoon. Highly recommend.

I had been last year for tea and cake with my mum and we had really enjoyed it. This time I came with friends having said how good it was. It was fine but not quite as good as I remembered. The food is good and the service was fine just not quite as warm as I had remembered. Worth a visit if you're in the area.

Delicious scone with jam and cream, lemon and poppyseed drizzle cake. The mint and apple tea was also yum; flavourful yet not overpowering or too sweet.

Taken here by my daughter for afternoon tea for mother's day. Very unimpressed with afternoon tea. Sloppy poorly put together wraps, poorly filled choice of 2 types of sandwich. Scones pale and small with small dish of jam and small cream for 3 people. No pastry dish and unimpressive selection of cake. Chip out of my teapot spout. Very disappointed, daughter who took my sister and I in tears at what was presented. I didn't complain as I was a guest, but would not recommend for afternoon tea.

What a lovely little cafe. The best chai tea choices, great coffee and a tasty apple and cinnamon scone. Hidden in a lovely little courtyard of local shops. Well worth a visit.

We visited today as a treat for Mothers Day and to say we were dissapointed is an understatement. My niece booked it for her mum and me. We waited ages for our order to be taken and when it came we wondered if there was more to come. The sandwich choice was lacking in filling and taste, and certainly not what we were expecting. Cakes were just ok and scones were small and stodgy. I don't usually write negative reviews but at a bill for £66.00 I certainly think we were ripped off big time. Will not be back and certainly will never recommend to anyone. Hugely dissatisfied and felt so sorry for my niece who thought she was bookjng a lovely treat for her mum and auntie. 😡🙄

Recommend their white chocolate scone, selection of sandwiches and tea cocktails (rooibos one). Upstairs makes me feel a bit uncomfortable because of quite small. However, the tea room and coffee set stuff are really cute.

This is one of my favourite places in my favourite city. Absolutely cannot recommend it highly enough.

I booked a breakfast afternoon tea at 11am and the experience atmosphere and service were top notch, the tea selection is send to non, the cakes and food will knock your socks of. I loved Hidden Lane Tearooms, so much so that, oh dear I left something behind and had to go again to pick it up; with breakfast of course. I’d tried lunch the day before. Let me start with the staff, gorgeous friendly and helpful. Even though busy we / they didn’t feel rushed. I think it’s worth booking as it filled up quickly at both lunchtime and breakfast time. Today’s Breakfast: we shared two of the on toast breakfasts smoked salmon and scrambled eggs and avocado and tomatoes on toast. My friend is gluten free and the toast in both cases was very delicious. A single gripe from me too much rocket, luckily my friend ate it. I know it was breakfast but we had to have cake. Oh my goodness raspberry and white chocolate scones are to die for beautifully moist the gluten free chocolate slice was very yummy too. Just to say, you can book a breakfast tea / with cakes things on a tiered plate thing. Yesterday’s Lunch: there was a daily soup, which we road tested for chilli heat - lovely parsnip flavour but just a wee bit hot for my friend’s palate. I’d already decided on the hulking doorstop sandwich of grilled halloumi and red peppers, not disappointed at all. My friend had hummus lovely too. This is where we had lovely cakes: both dairy and gluten free. The aforementioned chocolate slice and an amazing lemon cake that had just the right balance of lemon zing and sweetness. We tried to persuade them to start a book group

A beauteous place hidden away from the troubles of the main streets. Unfortunately, we couldn't try the sandwiches as they were out that time of day but their coffee is really good and their sweet treats very delicious.

This is a lovely little teashop down a lane in an area with lots of other nice little shops. We stopped in for lunch and my partner's ham sandwich looked great, with thick cuts of meat. I had a wee tea with a selection of sandwiches and a scone, which was just what I needed. Great selection of teas and a perfect place to pop in for lunch or a tea and cake.

Tale of two halves really.. the BEST scone I've had in a long time, service was a little shoddy, no teaspoons, no cutlery, got our order mixed up with choices of bread, not ideal but fresh food none the less. Decaf tea not great, my auntie asked for a pot of boiled water and added her own teabag

My friend and I have made a hobby of taking afternoon tea around Glasgow over the last year or so. The Hidden Lane is the only place that we've come back to. The service was warm but not overbearing, and the food was excellent (this time we had their Christmas themed one) and as vegetarians, neither of us felt like any less thought had been put into our meal compared to one containing meat. Definitely recommended.
