Shilling Brewing Company in Glasgow City

We stumbled upon the Shillings brewery and what a welcome surprise. Riordan( spelling?) was the delightful barman that helped us choose our pint, My husband & I like our stouts and there were 4 to choose from. We had a delicious pint snd would have had more but the pint of our choosing was £10! so a wee bit dear but probably rent is astronomical! Bathrooms. were spotless and the whole place was really cool, especially as mentioned the humble and lovely barman, Riordan. We would have drank more and tried more beers but unfortunately our budget did not allow. Pop in, you wont be disappointed,

A very stylish bar with many beers on draught plus cans and bottles, brews made in house freshly poured from the tanks, non-alcoholic options, IPAs, lager... you name it, all the beers. The pizza is very good too, made from scratch in a cupola pizza oven. They have very creative toppings! The one with nduja and blue cheese is delicious! The irn bru chilli jam dip is amazing. Friendly staff. It's a busy bar but I can see why it's so popular, it's a great option for tasty pizza and great beer!

Enjoyed the bay brunch on a Saturday afternoon. Our server Lauren was fantastic & helped our experience more enjoyable, she was available, efficient & super friendly without being overbearing. My burger was enjoyable & the cocktails were great apart from our last one which missed garnish compared to my friends 1st martini & also my 2nd espresso martini missed the bean decor & wasn't as full & definitely very watery! That said we would go back as we did enjoy most of what we had & Turtle Bay had a great atmosphere, definitely would recommend booking at weekend.

Enjoyed a flight of 4 shilling beers. £7.50 for house beers but I selected 4 guest beers for about £11. The guy on the bar was really helpful and everybody was friendly. Great atmosphere and the pizzas look delicious 😋

We visited on 3 occasions during our stay in Glasgow. Each time there was an excellent choice of beer and we were made welcome by friendly staff. Definitely recommended. We did not have food.

We popped into this place on our way to the Hydro for a concert. Huge selection of beers - staff really friendly and helpful in deciding which one to go for. Pizza’s wow - delicious and a good price. I loved the veggie haggis one with the irn bru chilli sauce - delicious. Highly recommend. Defo go back.

Great range of craft beer. Bright, comfortable, and always visit when in Glasgow. However, we found last night that they add their own 5% tip to any round, when served at the bar, without a word to the customer. I only found out on this trip as I asked for a receipt, not sure how long it has been happening for. Staff are great, but I do like to know when I am tipping any amount so it is a bit off putting.

Great pizza and despite being really busy got served quickly and by lovely staff . We had a great afternoon thank you

Perfect Pizza made as I wanted, extra crispy. Flight of beer, wonderful tasting experience. Was pretty quiet, I prefer a quiet pub to a very busy one at lunchtime. I always visit, with my son, when I’m home from Florida!

The barman was excellent, my friend is celiac and he had found him a few beers that he could have , and one of them was was the House Porter , we had 5 pints each and with no affect for my friend the next day . Excellent service.

I went to the Hogmanay Party at SBCo, a place that holds a special spot in my heart from my student days. It’s been a while since I’ve been back, but this Glasvegas-themed night was a perfect reason to return! For £25, the ticket included entry, a glass of Prosecco at the bells, $400 to play casino games, unlimited pizza, a photobooth and Elvis even made a wee appearance. I think I got my value back just in the amount of pizza I managed to put away🍕 What really makes Shilling special is their massive selection of beers. They brew a few of them on-site and have a massive range of taps from independent brewers, so you’re spoiled for choice if craft beer is your thing! Superb bar with a wide choice of craft beers, most of which come from their own brewery. Friendly service, simple and good food, a nice surprise during my visit to Glasgow.

Reservé espacio para un gran grupo de 42 personas para una celebración. Organizamos un buffet de pizza para la mitad de la noche y fichas de bebidas de prepago para dar a la gente una bebida gratis a la llegada. La antigua sala bancaria es un lugar encantador y se pone muy ocupado, pero teníamos un grupo de mesas reservadas en el área elevada en la parte posterior, que nos dio un área definida dentro del bar. El espacio reservado era perfecto para nosotros, las fichas de bebidas funcionaban muy bien y la comida era impecable. Todo el personal con el que tratamos en la noche era muy amable y servicial. Riordan, detrás de la barra, era particularmente bueno en una noche en la que todo el lugar estaba muy ocupado. El personal también era genial para quitar vasos vacíos y limpiar mesas. Well done to Adam the pizza chef, one of the best pizza's I've ever had :)!

By a stroke of luck, we managed to get the last free table at what was a busy bar. However, the atmosphere was nice so we were comfortable. I was able to get a tasting flight of their own beers and they were all excellent. The pizza oven was visible and lovely pizzas were consumed. Lots of guest beers are also available.

There for a 60th birthday, staff were extremely helpful and any questions they took time to help with and even gave suggestions of ideas on how to do things on a very busy Saturday night at Christmas time

Great taproom. They have their own beers and a dozen more. Cool event spaces and very friendly service.

This place is not have disabled access despite having accessible toilets. In 2024, establishments should do better to provide an experience for all. Edit: After receiving a response, I have learned that there is access. I approached the barman at the time and was told explicitly that there was no disabled access so perhaps a bit of training of the staff is required. Maybe next time I'll have better luck!

A massive screen on the wall displays all the beers, lagers, and whatever else is available. I had a pint of Irish stout type beer but can't remember what it's called so please correct me, Mr Shilling! Look at my other reviews to see where I've been! So Shilling have responded to my review and it was Stouty McStoutface that I drank! Thanks for that!

Es un buen lugar con una gran selección de cervezas. Hay alrededor de 5 cervezas que elaboran ellos mismos, más otras 15 de otras cervecerías. Hubiera dado 5 estrellas excepto por una cosa . . . no hay precio mostrado en ninguna de las cervezas de invitados. A pesar de que tienen una pantalla sin tocar, esto no muestra los precios. Stopped when arriving in Glasgow and had excellent beer. Service was very attentive, got great recommendations on what to do in the city as well from the bartender. Beer suggestions were great. Place had a nice ambience

Hands down the best selection of guest taps I've ever seen. House beers are solid and to style. Great urban atmosphere.

Booked a "pour your own party" which gives a 30l keg if beer and 9 pizzas....the service was great and the private room was ideal. Highly recommended

You have to spend an afternoon here to appreciate how good the beer choice is. A long afternoon that will go by quickly and very enjoyably.

It's always a pleasure to visit the Shilling. Elegant and classy, with a superb beer range.

As a Visitor to Glasgow, normally rely on Wetherspoons for food and beer but as it was mobbed, found Shilling across the road. Not ideal for solo diners as no table ordering but buzzer system a decent work around. Great range of drinks, if I'm in town again without bags then this would be a great option due to the long tables for easy seating

Como amante de la cerveza artesanal californiana y asistente regular al festival de cerveza artesanal, investigué antes de viajar a Glasgow e identifiqué a Shilling Brewing como el número 1 en mi lista de cervecerías para visitar. Cuando entré por la puerta y vi los grifos y la lista de cervezas supe que este era EL lugar! Su selección de cervezas de barril y enlatadas IPA stouts, etc. de cerveceros artesanales de toda Escocia es increíble. No esperaba encontrar OPIs de primera categoría estilo "West Coast" brumosas, dobles e incluso triples en Escocia, pero aquí estaban. Shilling instantáneamente se convirtió en el "local" para mi banda - compañeros y yo. De mis diez días en Glasgow solo me perdí un día visitando Shilling Brewing. Para la comida a la que voy - era su "pan de queso de ajo", que en realidad es una pizza generosamente cubierta con queso, ajo y aceite de oliva. Ah, y la ubicación de Shilling es ideal, en el centro de Glasgow a poca distancia de la estación de Queen Street, Buchanan Street, Argyle Street, George Square, etc.

I just stumbled upon this place wandering around Glasgow. Great spot; great atmosphere. The bartenders were super knowledgeable about the beers and always willing to offer samples to try. Limited food menu, but the pizza was GREAT! Had that not been my last day in Glasgow, I would have definitely returned again. Hope to be back sometime at this great spot - especially for a solo traveler.

It’s 9 quid a pint (for a 5% West Coast IPA) plus they add on 5% to bill without telling you. And then ask if you want to leave a tip. More expensive than Singapore, where I ordered an Overtone earlier this year! They don’t take cash and the atmosphere is terrible. Apart from that it’s great. Edit: so the owner replied, which is nice. But their claim that the 5% service charge is clearly displayed and discretionary is simply untrue I’m afraid. I’ve no idea where it’s displayed despite visiting this bar numerous times. There’s a deeper issue in that why is a bar charging a service charge - it’s not table service, nothing on cask, staff just pouring a pint. If, as the owner claims, it’s to reflect the bar staff’s hard work, perhaps more of the profit of their £9 pints should go on wages. Owner replied about tipping with claim that punters aren’t asked for a tip, which again is untrue. You can’t pay cash and the POS/card reader defaults to asking you for a tip. I’ll not be back.

Came here recently for a few drinks whilst in Glasgow. I was impressed by the sheer variety of drinks on tap. Some nice flavours and the atmosphere was lovely. Ordered 6-7 pizzas for our large group and they were all deliscious and got devoured pronto. Will come back again for sure.

Good pub for range of beers on tap

Flat beer. Was ok pint at first. However, the pint got very flat pretty quickly, which was pretty disappointing. The price for a pint was six pounds, which for a flat life less beer didn't seem value for money. This place could be so much better if they put more care into pouring the beer and the glassware being up to standard.

Was a nice place. Pizzas were great but that is all they serve. Would be good for other stuff on menu e.g. chips/ onion rings/ simple deserts

Wonderful selection of beers and very well made pizza! The dough is perfect and the garlic bread is a real delight. The interior is also very spacious for a relaxed time with friends.

Just a refreshing pint whilst waiting for a train. Great chat with the guy serving. Such a wide choice of beers, I needed help and advice, which was supplied willingly.

The wife and I spent a couple of hours here on Monday 3rd of June. Really impressive building. We had a great time - even managed 2nd place in the pub quiz.

Really nice place. Sat with the Galway Stout at the moment which is particularly good. Had fun reaching that conclusions.

Bar with a huge selection of beers on tap and in cans. The Untappd link for each of these beers allows you to have a first overview and it is very practical. Afterwards, the place is not really my taste, falsely industrial, too noisy

I was in here as part of a group of about 20-25 people for a leaving party for one of our colleagues. I have been in a few times and it never disappoints. Plenty of beers to choose from and the pizzas are dynamite. I would recommend a pint of Deckchair and a margherita pizza.

amazing place for a pizza - very friendly staff and quick service - food and drinks are awesome, and they brew their own beer - the prices are incredible, and on top of that, they have a 50% student discount - they also host a pub quiz, which is fun to enjoy with friends - lunch or dinner, this is definitely one of the best places to go to in Glasgow

They are located i a beautiful building and a fun atmosphere. Their stout is fantastic, and the lager is ok. My friends loved the IPA. Bought some shirts and hung out for about an hour.

A huge selection of different beers and each that i‘ve tasted was really nice! As a perfect match they offer delicious pizza (also vegan).

Good Drink selection that changes often and probably the best value/quality pizza in Glasgow at time of writing. Forget Queuing at Paesano go here, its just as good but cheaper and you can book tables. Can be noisy if that's a problem for some.

Heard good things so went along to try it out. Good selection of beer and the bar staff were decent, however a 5 percent service charge as standard ?!? I see that you can get it removed from your bill but it's not actually mentioned at the point of payment and no receipt was offered. I never agree with putting a service charge on a bill as this is not America and although I agree good service should be rewarded, it should never be assumed. This really took the biscuit though as a service charge would suggest some sort of service element. There was no table service and your pizza isn't even take to your table when ready (you have to collect it). In the couple of hours we spent in this establishment we had one member of staff clear plates and glasses and that was it. Based on this I very much doubt I will return as a customer which is a real shame as it's a nice place.

Booked a table for 1900 tonight. Someone phoned and we explained that we would be running late, as the show we were seeing at the Kings Theatre had ran on later than expected. We arrived, after walking in the pouring rain, to find that our table had been given to someone else and we were subsequently sat a table against a wall, with a rowdy table of four sat besides us. We will not return!

Delicious pizza with nice atmosphere.

Mother's Day 2024 lunch & beers! We met with our son here, for my mother's day treat. Had a selection of beers each, with each taking a beer flight of 4 thirds (fruit sours for me, mix for my son & a selection of stouts and porters for my other half). We also had a few pizzas and sme garlic bread. Food is excellent value, the beers are a tad expensive - but great choices. Lovely building too, and friendly staff - happy to have you take a taster to check you will like the offering.
