First time in Scotland! Great pub. Nice atmosphere and feel. Staff was great, food was great, and the beer was fantastic!!

Prior to Covid I had organised Retirement functions for colleagues in the pub’s downstairs Function Suite. This time I, along with another colleague, held our own retirement “Doo” last week and it was a great evening. In the weeks leading up Victoria was a terrific help with the preparations as was James, the General Manager. On the day, Victoria was off and James again provided the professional “Personal touch”. All the other staff were fantastic - Derek, Jenny, Darryl and other bar staff whose names have escaped me - sorry! In the kitchen Bob and Jamesie. Nothing was too much trouble. The venue itself is an ideal location so I’d recommend it to anyone planning an event/function. Thanks again to all at the “Rhoddie Dhu!” 😉👍

Never stumbled across this pub before - what a gem! The staff are magnificent especially the dandy gentleman behind the bar and his young bartenders. Best pint of Guinness ever in a toucan glass what's not to like? This will be a regular haunt on my monthly visits to Glasgow - brilliant!

My husband Jim, daughter Yvonne & i absolutely love this pub. The atmosphere is brilliant it's always lively and the food is very enjoyable thanks to Bobe and of course the drink is great. All the staff are amazing always friendly and look after you well. James is so funny as is Derek and so attentive. I would highly recommend the Rhoderick Dhu. You will not be disappointed.

Entró para tomar una copa tranquila y alejarse de las multitudes del centro de la ciudad. Incluso con el fútbol en la tele (con unos pocos mirando) pude encontrar una percha lo suficientemente tranquila como para que una copa se extendiera en tres. Grupo en la mesa de al lado estaban comiendo, que parecía y olía delicioso. Definitivamente recomendado

Food was fantastic! Service was fantastic! Can’t say enough good things about James. He made us feel like regulars even though it was our first time. Traditional hearty food. Left with big smiles, and full bellies. The whisky and beer selection was a delight. Highly recommend!!!

Top notch old school pub with a good selection of grub.

We had our retirement party on 7th March in the downstairs function room. Jim and the staff were great at setting things up for us, very polite and nothing was too much trouble for them. We had a buffet arranged for our guests, many commented how great the food was, which was evident from how high some of the plates were piled up! Would gladly do any similar events here. I had an amazing experience at this Pub! The people were really nice, especially James! He was very hospitable and had us laughing. Also bobe and Debbie were very helpful and kind as well. If I am ever back in Glasgow I would definitely come back :)

During our day trip in Glasgow, we stumbled upon a charming pub that truly warmed our hearts. James, was an absolute gem—so personable and attentive, he made our first experience in the city truly unforgettable! Debbie was fantastic as well, bringing such a vibrant energy to our visit, while Bobe worked wonders with the fish and chips, which were simply delightful. The beer was perfectly chilled, but it was the exceptional service that left us feeling cared for. If you ever find yourself in Glasgow, I wholeheartedly recommend visiting this lovely spot—you won't regret it!

Hi I would like to express a sincere thank you to all the staff at Rhoderick dhu .Myself and family enjoyed a fantastic retirement party. From an excellent buffet to all the hard working bar staff and with the guidance and help from James the evening went seamlessly. I have attended many a firefighter retirement in the downstairs function hall and always enjoy a fantastic night and would urge anyone having an event to look no further than these premises. A decent Greeneking pub - cracking pint of Tennents, very lively and loud but good atmosphere and quick service.

While not the individual pubs fault, booking cancelled on the day due to local pub policy of not allowing u18s. Highly misleading website containing a children's menu and allowing a booking to be made on website where option to include children and provide age was there. No issue with pub policy and staff very friendly when I called. Unhappy with chain due to: 1. Why allow the booking, it is not complex coding to build local restrictions into the website. 2. Taking deposit without verifying that booking was valid, further exasperated by festive period meaning potential delay in refund. 3. Booking made 1 week ago, why wait until the day to inform not able to fulfil due to local restrictions. I appreciate there is a note at the top of the website about 18+ only however this is not obvious and it is usurped by the highly misleading fact of including a children's menu and allowing a booking to be taken with an include children option. Update: 06/01/2025 - Having spoken to the managers, an apology was given and a resolution agreed, including a very kind gesture of goodwill, I have therefore updated the review to 3 stars as they have did what they can but I cannot go higher as not actually visited

I was in here for a meal with my best friends, and it’s always great service very friendly staff that are happy to accommodate. A hidden gem of glasgow 🤍 Jenny was great!!!!

Great pub, very central with a top atmosphere. Highlight for me was the food though. Absolutely phenomenal burger that really hit the spot. Fantastic service too checking in if we needed annything even as it got hectic.

Had a lovely lunch in Rhoderick Dhu today ,, shout out for Bobe & Declan in kitchen food was lovely, &Daryl at the bar serving was very attentive to customers, another guy who was very good to didn’t catch his name, lovely wee place to go a nice atmosphere.

Came here after some Xmas shopping for lunch and surprised how busy for that time of day staff copped well food was far better for your pub grub first time in the place and we will certainly come back soon into the new year

SUCH A GREAT PLACE; THIS HAD TO BE SAID: I was visiting Glasgow for a few days and once I'd settled myself into my hotel on Sunday I headed out into the city. I've been to the Rhoderick Dhu before and it's always been a great time, so headed straight there. Got some amazing food, highly recommend the karage sticky chicken, it's a game changer! I had a few drinks with friends, and as always the service was great, such a friendly and helpful team that work there. Ended up staying for the rest of the evening and had such a good night I ended up back there Monday AND the Tuesday. With the weather as it was the pub was cosy and welcoming and the heated smoking terrace was wonderful. Had an amazing few days, and it's great to see the place looking so festive. My only negative comment is that the tables and chairs inside are past their prime, a few wobbly chair legs, and the tables and bar are looking a bit tired. Smoking terrace really needs an update, a wee helping hand. Chairs with backs would be fantastic and being very honest those barrel tables look like a health hazard and stink! Everything else about the place is great, great decor and memorabilia on the walls, but the interior could do with a refresh, brighten the place up a bit to match the atmosphere and fun vibes from the staff, music and overall atmosphere. It's my go to pub anytime I visit Glasgow, and would recommend it to anyone and everyone, and while I wouldn't change my rating because of the furniture, I just wanted to point out something that has the opportunity to be improved on. Outside of that, an amazing place and will be back as soon as I can! Thanks to all staff, especially Laura, Amy, Daryl, Jenn, Bobe, Declan and Jenny. Great to see James back in Glasgow. Met some family for lunch on the weekend at the Rhoderick Dhu and we all had some food and drinks. The place was very welcoming and the manager James greeted and chatted to us. The other staff (Declan and Amy I think) were also super helpful and very friendly. The food was delicious from Bobe in kitchen, and the festive cocktails were lovely too. Great visit would definitely drop in again!

Had our Xmas lunch at Rhoderick dhu and it was lovely. Food was fab and staff so helpful and accommodating. James in particular went above and beyond to make sure we were well looked after. Would recommend and looking forward to going back again.

What a gem of a pub in Glasgow, first visit and will definitely pop in again, both Laura and Jenny were very welcoming and friendly, would 100% recommend a visit.

Only planned to meet my friend and head off else where, but staff were friendly and welcoming, so decided to stay. Jenn and James were great, Jenn ensured we knew the dangers of knife crime 😉 and James showed off his barista skills! Not forgetting the delicious lunch.

Food is affordable and tasty - drinks are affordable too especially considering it’s in the city centre. Always a nice atmosphere and good for couples or groups or families.

Wee visit on a Monday to catch up with my friend. We had a lovely afternoon 😊 The food was decent, I like mines piping, was very tasty and good value for money. 5 small plates, and there was plenty for 2.

Booked a table, they hadn’t the booking. While that was disappointing, we ended up across the road in a place that had lovely food. The staff were lovely, just a pity they didn’t have the table we booked.

Every time someone visits us, we always bring them here. Recently, our family came to town and we took them to Rhoderic. Laura and Vic, along with James, were very friendly. The fish and chips at this place are the best in town and we highly recommend them to everyone.

We spent our last 2 days in Scotland exploring Glasgow. Stopped into the Rhoderick Dhu for dinner on the recommendation of a cousin. The pub and atmosphere did not disappoint! A great spot for a pint and some patter or bite. Our server Jenny made us feel at home and the fish and chips prepared for us in the kitchen by James and Daryl were perfect!

Great pint of Belhaven best for me. Great choice of Gin for my Good lady. Had Great traditional Steak pie feed....of which was a great sized portion. Friendly staff. Overall a good choice of pub for us.

Jenn provided wonderful service and the food was excellent with assist by Bobe and James! Rhoderick Dhu far outshines next door Kitty's. We enjoyed the Saturday afternoon scene with so many friendly and welcoming Glaswegians! Highly recommend Rhoderick Dhu for the real Glasgow feel!

Classico pub con poche portate semplici ma buone. Attenzione che anche qui la cucina chiude molto presto. Tante tv sparse in giro, che trasmettono sport di tutti i tipi. Ed un sacco di gente che trascorre qualche ora in spensierata compagnia, con una buona pinta di birra, per la quale non c'è che l'imbarazzo della scelta.

Locale carino, informale. Abbiamo cenato due sere, la cucina chiude un pò presto - verso le 7,30 pm, ma cucinano bene. Ottime birre. Personale gentile.

I had my 50th Birthday Party in here on Saturday and it's a great venue. Was able to get in any time after 1pm to decorate. The function area is just the right size, not too big and not too small. Food was great and the bar staff were so nice - always nice to have smiling bar staff :-) Big shout out to Victoria and the team, all done amazing. Thank you very much for making my night run smoothly xx

J’ai réservé une table ( avec menu) pour 4 personnes sur le site, j’ai bien reçu une confirmation de réservation mais en arrivant à 19h30, heure de la réservation , la serveuse m’a dit que la cuisine allait fermer et que nous pouvions juste boire un verre. C’est peut être sympa comme pub mais méfiez vous si vous souhaitez manger…👎

I recommend R’dhiu to my parents visiting from Dumfries and the staff couldn’t have been nicer to them. They loved their meals, and the handy location but it will be the friendly service that brings them back again. .

What. A. Pub. I’ve been coming for years and the Rhoddy is all you could want. Fantastic food, a fine selection of whisky, and a crisp pint. Whether it’s a Saturday night or a quiet one after work, I totally rate the Rhoderick Dhu for the atmosphere and the quality of service - Whether it’s big man James, Vic, Derek, Debbie, Laura, Danny… the list goes on - they make you feel welcome and special from when you enter until you have to part ways. A must see in Glasgow, and especially if you fancy catching the football or rugby!

I booked the function suite for my husband’s surprise 60th party. The communication throughout was excellent. Venue free as long as you take the buffet, which has 3 offerings and different prices. DJ also added. I was able to come along to the venue from 1pm to decorate which gave me loads of time before the night. The night itself was incredible, manager James made a point of coming to meet with me and was available all night. The buffet was amazing, loads of food and everyone gave it a good 👍🏼 Thanks so much to James and the staff for really making it a night to remember. Also have just eaten here and once again the food was delicious. Best hummus I’ve ever had. Great service and treated really well. Will definitely be back, sooner than you think

Who knew??!! Not me. Am a Glaswegian who has NEVER been to the Rhoderick Dhu. We had a random Wednesday free in Glasgow so went here about 2pm. Spent a very lovely few hours. Even more randomly, we met people we knew. We felt very welcomed here. Very comfortable amongst the patrons. Bar staff fun and attentive to all. We will go back

I was here with friends for a bite of lunch. Food and service was fantastic. Lovely relaxed atmosphere. Lots of seating and table space and plenty of screens if you wish to catch up on a game.
