The Hidden Knight in Chesterfield

Visited today for Lunch. Received a very warm welcome from the lady at the bar. Food was great value for money and very yummy. Friendly place and will definitely be back soon 😀

Cosy, traditional pub with a really interesting menu. Not sure I am ready to take on the curry challenge here yet!

Absolutely wonderful pub. Spacious yet very cosy, the food is fantastic and very well-made (very good value for money, you get loads for what you pay). The staff are friendly, we were greeted warmly by the lady on the bar. Food arrived promptly and the chips were wonderfully hot and crispy; not too much side salad with the burger which was a plus, and the presentation was beautiful. Definitely recommend this pub for its decadence and home-made style food alone.

The food here was absolutely spot on. Admittedly I only had the chicken dippers starter, but what a portion size you get! One million percent will be trying a main course next time I return. You can tell they really care about the food that they cook. All homemade and well worth the money. Thankyou very much!

Called in for first time since it changed name. Was pleasantly surprised, nice decor and a decent pint of lager

Not great. I only went once on a Friday evening. It was dead,the beer selection was poor and it was dark and dingy.

Great food, some of it very spicy

Followed the signs to the bar and ordered drinks as part of a group. No one indicated that we were in the incorrect area. The sign clearly says "main bar". Rather than asking us to move to the other area or please keep the noise down the barman shouted at us, flinging his arms around. Would have happily moved with a polite ask! Toilets not in use.

My wife and I visited The Hidden Knight for lunch whilst on a day out in Chesterfield. I'm very glad we did. Great choice of guest beers and an excellent selection of dishes. We were more than happy with the food when it arrived. Great value, really tasty and plenty of it. By the time we left we were stuffed and happy. Will definitely be back.

Great location, staff were amazing and fantastic selection of drinks and homemade food - would recommend the curry nights Fri and Sat for a great plate of hearty and heated food

I gave it a 3 though the cask beer I had (Thornbridge Knäck) was quite acceptable

A bit of a hidden pub this one but it's a great place.. and not too busy ( even on a Christmas Saturday)

I had steak and onion baguette which the steak was very fatty and not exactly hot or very well cooked. My kids glasses had lipstick marks on. Wouldn’t return again tbh

Very accommodating with our bespoke Hen Do. Fabulous buffet and great cocktail making experience. Great karaoke too topping off a great night. Recommended! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I'd tempura fish and chips. Not as good as last time, but edible. Larger napkins needed to wipe up the cooking oil. Pleasant staff and good service.

Lovely and clean friendly staff nice food big portions . My only fault was the quiche wasn't homemade and the pork pies where just mini shop bought ones would have been nicer if it had been a proper butchers pork pie

Lovely friendly pub, decent pub grub, steak sandwich and veggie chilli were both good. Big portions! Not too noisy so far. Cheap beer. Separate lounge bar which is always nice.

Bloody massive portions beat us both. Clean and comfortable,great service. I couldn't fault a thing another place I will definitely go back too.

It says on the web and some of the reviews that they are dog friendly. The very rude and loud "no we are not!" Was uncalled for, not needed and just unfriendly. Won't go again with or without.

Great old fashioned pub in Chesterfield selling some great ales and good food. Landlady certainly knows her stuff on ales. A must visit pub, really child friendly with even a few toys to keep them amused.

What a lovely friendly place . The food was good ,all homecooked . Highly recommend the burger with onion rings that were the best I've ever had ( bold statement I know ) but true .

Found this gem of a pub a few weeks ago,soon as you walk in,the barmaid was lovely and chatty(the one with the big chest). Excellent selection of beers,I even had food which was very nice,would definitely recommend to all.

Had a few pints in here last night to celebrate the new opening. I remember the pub being the Wellbeck and I remember it being a dingy and oppressive where you had a pint and wanted to leave before one got depressed. Now it felt bright, cheerful and the atmosphere was lively and happy which was helped by the staff by also being lively and happy. I think the Hidden Knight just might be my new local and it bothered me not at all that I was sat in the exact spot where the previous owner had died...I was hoping to, maybe, sense his presence. This was maybe the Hidden Knight!! All in all a great experience. I definitely will be going back. The Hidden Knight has changed since I wrote the first piece. There are more events, the team of staff have worked out the teething trouble and now run the establishment as a finely tuned machine. More visitors, a great atmosphere and it has recently received a 5 star rating for the restaurant and hospitality services.

Very friendly staff and some of the more normal clients there are in Chesterfield, if a little funny looking.

The Hidden Knight, more like a Hidden Gem This place is a delight for a person like me, a friendly host on the bar, a dedicated spicy menu (Frightknight burger defeated so far) and some killer sauce that will definitely challenge your taste buds! I had their Frightknight Burger and oh my taste buds were singing in joy, then in pain from their "Habanero Problem" Sauce. NOT FOR THE SQUIRES OF SPICE! And the Crumble... Where to even begin, its heaven in a dish (with a Angel bringing it too) Homemade to the extreme and it is perfection, so much so that I'm changing my usual food-out place to be coming here just for the burgers But seriously if you want a homely place to visit come here

Food terrible had fish and chips the fish looked as though it had been reheated from the day before the batter was rock hard and only a small bit of fish would never go there again its a same it was a really good place to eat

Stumbled across the Hidden Knight and called in for lunch - great service and atmosphere and the food was lovely and plentiful!

Had a meal last Friday for 4 of us. Everything we ordered was lovely and was Served very quickly. Reasonably priced and staff friendly. I would recommend this pub.

Old fashioned, hidden, nice little pub. Pricey compared to my local back at home. Returned later on in the night to find the doors shut and lights off quite early on in the night though unfortunately so found somewhere else that was cheaper just around the corner.

The Hidden Knight in Chesterfield is a gem 💎 We tried this place adhoc and was really impressed the food was amazing, staff wonderfully welcoming and cheerful and had time to chat. An up-and-coming newly renovated and refurbished pub. New decor, new licensees, new staff and hopefully a new lease of life. Opening night was exceptionally entertaining, a well kept cellar combined with good bar staff only added to my enjoyment. Maybe a little more work to be done in regards to finishing touches etc. but all in all, a little gem will shine once more in Chesterfield town centre (and I do mean centre), the potential this venue has is almost limitless.

There are some awful pubs in Chesterfield. This isn't one of them. It's like stepping back in time - in a good way. You'll get a lot of local pensioners in at lunchtimes for the great value food and beer - which is far better than finding a pub just filled with lager swilling yoofs - but there's a warm welcome for everyone, of all ages. The landlord and his staff are really friendly and they will tell anyone who gets carried away to please mind their language, which is great to see nowadays - we don't all want to hear the f-word every ten seconds. A proper pub is the landlord's house, after all. Trendy it isn't - traditional carpets etc - and it's all the better for it. With so many frankly unpleasant pubs nearby this is one to keep hold of. Dog friendly, too. Children allowed - with a warning that they mustn't run around disturbing other guests. All good.
