The Hedley Verity in Leeds

Great for everything. The place is massive. It has a downstairs and an upstairs, the food is cheap and amazing, it has plugs everywhere so you can sit and work on your laptop, it's usually a good nice warm spot in the winter. It turns into a disco at night and it's usually well populated, however I don't club in general, I just ended up working there throughout the times. Can't recommend the place more. Of course the below £2 refillable coffee cups all day. Perfect venue

Visited on a Sunday morning / lunch. It was filthy, beer was flat (tried 2 different ones), toilets were awful - no locks on doors. It’s a ‘student’ pub unfortunately, but it’s a shame that that label comes with less effort keeping a place nice

Would not give special price only on the app

One of the greatest cricketers England has ever known so i was always going to visit at some point. Pleasant atmosphere and quick and efficient service. I had a soft drink and a sirloin steak with a salad. Steak was beautifully cooked and an overall pleasant experience

Its a spoons with music. Not so much disco more dance... its a dancing spoons.

This one is a matter of taste and prefernce. There's lots of seating and boothes and it a good place to rendezvous with an outdoor beer. But the music is usually rather loud, the dance floor is very large and tends to be crowded. Major dterrants for myself. It's alao a hotspot for pub runs, often leading to rowdy and rather unsavoury clientelle

Do not go when it turns into a disco spoons if you don’t want to be assaulted by the bouncers. The security at this place have 0 respect for anyone, especially women. I was assaulted by one of the bouncers there last weekend because I struggled to get my ID out of my phone case to which the bouncers response was to grab and shove me out of the queue, he gave me no more than 10 seconds to get my ID and said “don’t waste my time”. The staff at Hedley Verity couldn’t didn’t care or take any action when I told them about the incident. My advice AVOID if you want to feel safe/comfortable on a night out!

Pedí un kebab de pollo con pimientos y un café rellenable para mi almuerzo. El orden fue educadamente tomado y mi comida estaba bien cocinada y tenía un sabor muy bueno. Es grande, muy bien decorado pub que tiene una zona de arriba de buen tamaño. Gracias.

Came in for a few drinks for girls afternoon had a very enjoyable time. Nice and spacious plenty of places to sit or stand. Drinks selection great as always.

It's a spoons that turns into a club (for free - with spoons prices)

El gerente es la persona más ruda que he conocido en mi vida. Me sacó un trago de la mano antes de que lo hubiera terminado. Cuando lo interrogué al respecto, me dijo que tenía pocas gafas para que yo fuera por mí misma. No podía creer que el gerente me hablara así. He vivido en Leeds toda mi vida y he estado en la mayoría de los bares de Leeds. Me trataron como basura. Nunca volveré a Hedley Verity en Leeds de nuevo y le contaré a mis amigos la terrible experiencia que tuve. También dejan entrar a niñas menores de edad y el personal se aprovecha de ellas. También vi drogas tomadas en los baños, que estaban en un estado asqueroso con orina por todo el piso. El gerente es horrible y muy muy grosero. Un hombre asqueroso.

Huge place, lots of seating - good friendly and helpful staff - close to first direct venue

Lovely door staff, all staff and bar staff so polite even when extremely busy with people shouting their orders when it’s not their turn, would 100% recommend!

Venía con amigos a comer y beber. Ordenó una hamburguesa americana doble sin mostaza, cebolla y sin bllettuce y salió como una sola con todos los artículos retirados en ella, después de mencionar esto al servidor el pedido se llevó de vuelta a la cocina y se sacó como un doble alambique con artículos retirados en él y el mismo plato en que se sacó el pedido original. Más tarde mi amigo hizo un pedido y el pedido llegó mal de nuevo y el mismo servidor procedió a decirnos que el pedido se llevó a la mesa 15 minutos antes de que mencionáramos que estaba mal cuando realmente se sacó 8 minutos antes de quejarnos

Coffee advertised on the TV screens at £1.56 but charged at the till at £1.71 both extortionate compared to Otley Wetherspoons where coffee is charged at £1.17 - all the same refillable coffees so why the big difference?

Fantastic Wetherspoons with loads of space! There are two floors and many tables to sit at, ensuring there is always room! As always the food is good for the price and the atmosphere is pleasant. It’s a great place to go for a night out with this location having a large dance floor overlooked by a balcony. But equally as good to go to for a chill pint or some food, I would definitely recommend this Wetherspoons, probably one of the best and most unique ones I’ve visited!

This was a brilliant pub for drinking, with a flashy vibe throughout the day! The design is kept well up to date and upstairs seating neatly curves out about the counter, which is stylish in itself. I enjoyed a pint of Kopparberg, sitting at comfortable seating on a smooth table!

Absolutely brilliant free entry entry and it's amazing it's just your ordinary spoons but with a twist because it's got a huge dance floor 100% would recommend

I usually go here in the afternoon early evening, I don't go to the disco but it looks good and has live acts too, the pub itself is massive and is always busy, named after the famous Yorkshire CC and England all rounder. Great beers like Abbot and Doom and they have cheap prices for the quiet days, thouroughly recommend for students and the ordinary Joe.

This wetherspoons had sadly gone very downhill. I've been here a few times. And over the last few weeks and each time although it hasn't seemed busy, the tables have been an absolute state, even if cleared of plates the tables themselves are clearly not getting cleaned after each guest as there is everything from salt, ketchup etc to beer all over. The carpets around the majority of the booths are sticky along with the upholstery being very musty, even foisty smelling on the booth seating itself. The staff whilst polite seem miserable, which all adds to the dismal and cheerless atmosphere that the Hedley Verity seems to have become, which is a shame as it used to be one of the best in the city centre 🫤

Popped in for a drink in the afternoon after Christmas shopping. A lovely atmosphere, great cocktails and friendly and efficient staff. The party of people at the next table ordered pizza and it looked and smelled amazing and was enormous! Will definitely visit again when in the area.

Wrong name for this club. Should just be called “disco spoons for white people”. Been there for nearly a year. And guess what, was kicked out for “not buying drinks”with my other black and Asian friends. I’ve spent around £600 there in 9 months. And I’m “the one who’s not buying drinks”. Also even if I’m not buying drinks, so what, is there a rule that you can’t be dancing in that club if you’re not buying anything?? If the security guys really wanna do some jobs, try to kick out those who’s lack of basic manners and acting like they’re the best in the world. Speaking of the country with manners, really disappointed. SHAME ON YOU!!

Went on a Wednesday morning for breakfast. Order came quickly and food was fine, could have been a little hotter. No real complaints though. Too quiet to comment on atmosphere.

Having never seen a " Disco Spoons" before, we felt obliged to take a peek. What a fabulous place 😍 for young peeps. Absolutely brilliant positive and happy environment. We got there early when it's quiet. Got a bit loud for us oldies as the eveningprogressed. But we respect that the younger generation need exclusive pubs too. Well done wetherspoons. 👏 brilliant idea near the colleges.

Early afternoon visit for food & a drink before going to arena. Service was quick (via apps) and food was nice n hot. We shared 3 dishes for £14, pepperoni pizza, cheesy chips and chicken nuggets with jack Daniels sauces. All fresh and tasty. Drinks were gin and lemonade

Great place to have foods and drinks. Another excellent Weatherspoon, the heritage of British culture. Nice staffs, nice environment. You can also sit outside. Reasonable prices of foods with good quality. Possibly on Tuesday there is a pub quiz, which is excellent.

First time in this Spoons (Ive been to 4 other Spoons in Leeds), quite different to all other spoons as it had dance music playing, guess that's why its listed as "Disco Spoons". Quite a large pub with two floors. Wooden flooring on ground floor so no Spoons carpet pic! Was the quickest food service Ive ever had in a Spoons, I had to check on my receipt to confirm and yes I placed the order via the App at 3:27pm for Southern fried chicken strips with chips and it arrived at my table at 3:30pm and it was piping hot and tasted amazing.

My favourite spoons in Leeds. Nice, big building with good choice in seating. Gets busy on Friday and Saturday evenings/nights but is good fun if you like that (a good, cheap place to pre-drink). Throughout the week it's quieter and service is generally very quick.

The whole experience was unpleasant should have realised when there wasn't a disabled entrance or toilet that there would be issues, the food was terrible the service was really bad they practically threw the food on our table , will definatley not be going there again and wouldn't reccomend at all .

food was alright but not that fantastic, it came quite fast and the atmosphere was great. i had the beef burger and cranberry juice.

It was a great experience there, but more still needs to be done whenever there's a queue and only one till will be serving customers while other tills are redundant.

For my first time in Leeds with friends this was the perfect place to get drinks but also to have a good time. It felt like a nightclub without actually being one. The service was good for how busy it was and staff were fairly apologetic if they got an order wrong. The atmosphere was amazing and everyone seemed to have a good time. I got a few glares and stares because I am from the south. :)

Not wheelchair/scooter accessible except the very lowest area which has access through a fire door that someone needs to open (had to send someone in after ringing the bell twice). Be aware there is no bar here either, so you'll need to order on the app if you're on your own.

Very busy when we visited on a Saturday afternoon. Usual Wetherspoon's food options and interior decor. You can't go wrong if you need a quick meal and you're not too fussy.

Good city centre pub. There are several Wetherspoon pubs in Leeds City Centre, and you can make a cheap night out, going from one to the other. They are all within walking distance.

Had a stake on the steak club menu. £10.50 and I only got the steak and chips. No extras. Nothing. It was well cooked and tasted good. Just a little let down on the value for money.

Food average. You seem to pay more but the portions are less. Must be a post COVID thing. Competitive prices.

I'm always so curious to how Whetherspoons has so many properties each of which aren't the same. Staff here were on the ball with very little wait time between ordering drinks on the app and them arriving at the table. Bonus being the toilets (Gents) were nice and tidy too.

Popped in for a quick drink before dinner elsewhere. The staff member behind the bar who served me was really friendly. Standard wetherspoons selection of drinks and lots of seating. Unfortunately there were some pretty unsavoury characters causing a ruckus (breaking glass, squaring up to the security, shouting..) which made me feel a bit unsafe, but they were handled quickly and escorted out. Felt sorry for the security to be honest!

Lively and quite busy, but was served quickly and efficiently. A good choice of drinks.

Good food for a reasonable prices

Problem we have when visiting is the wait to get in with a wheelchair. We have to go round the side of the building and ring a bell and wait a fair while. In the cold and rain it is not fun. Then there's the squeezing past things to get in and out of the lift (mops and buckets) The above was during the day, however I went last night 15th Feb 24 and the girl I was served by was unbelievably rude. Such a shame as the staff during the day have always been nice. Latest and last visit 7th August. This place has gone downhill. Items on the menu not in stock again! No staff at the upstairs bar, not for the first time. Ended up going to stick or twist. Star rating now reduced

After visiting at my granddaughters Art college exhibition, we called in this JD’W. So big, so spacious. Pick a floor depending whether you want busy or quiet. Love the Ramen Noodles (& poached egg) @ all JD’Weth’ They were installing TVs preparing for this weekends Euro Football (starts Sat’ 7th June). They think of their clientele

Service was quite slow unfortunately due to the deluge of students but the food was excellent and staff are very friendly

Another great building. Good efficient staff. Food ok as asked for gourmet steak medium rate but blood less. Quite a few students and street folk milling around. Cold if you sit under the silly air conditioning vents 🥶 not needed in chilly old Blighty.
