What a lovely place. Food was delicious and Claire on the bar was the friendliest person. We didn’t have to wait long for our lovely lunch. Great place to visit!

Love it here, a regular stop when I'm out on a bike ride. Check the fridge, they always have a great selection of cans available and 3 for 2.

The first time we have tried this pub. Great experience, we hadn't booked in, but the staff were happy to shuffle a later reservation to get us seated, pizzas and beer first class, lovely staff and bar. Thank you.

Nice reasonable priced pub, only reason it's only got 3 stars was my food was luke warm to cold after servicing 7 meals before mine in our group for 30 mins. Some had finished before i even got mine. I ordered loaded cheese burger fries but fries are not enjoyable cold. But I could clearly see this was under staffed as 1 guy rushing around servicing food while the ladies... hmm .... could of helped when they wasn't busy! Would i return, yes, would i order food, probably not.

Popped in on way to see Jamie Webster at connex hull what a find atmosphere was great , relaxed music not to load and beer was perfect decided to stay and eat food arrived within 20 mins and we filled our boots would recommend to any one .

Vinimos a cenar antes de ir a un espectáculo, empecemos positivamente, el lugar era agradable y el personal del bar era muy amable. Pedimos un entrante para compartir y dos principales, después de media hora mi marido fue y preguntó cuánto tiempo sería nuestra comida, ya que cuando habíamos pedido habíamos dicho al personal que teníamos que estar fuera para ir a un espectáculo. Otros 15 minutos y llegó nuestro entrante, palitos de mozzarella empanados y una salsa picante, esto estaba caliente y encantador. Los dos estábamos hambrientos de no haber comido desde el desayuno, Cuando la camarera compró el entrante mencionamos de nuevo la hora en que teníamos que salir y nos aseguró que había pedido al personal de la cocina para iniciar nuestra red, nos ofrecieron una ronda de bebidas de cortesía debido a la espera. Llegaron las tuberías, las dos estaban tibias y las papas fritas demasiado cocidas y secas, había pedido "döner gyro £ 14. 00 Döner carne, ensalada fresca, cebolla de zumaque, ajo, salsa y salsa picante en una pita tradicional griega. La pitta estaba empapada de la carne tibia a frío y sin sabor, mi marido había pedido la hamburguesa de pollo a la parrilla £ 14. 00 Pechuga de pollo, sazonada y a la parrilla, con salsa, lechuga y tomate en un bollo tostado. Tuvo el mismo problema con sus papas fritas y su hamburguesa de nuevo estaba fría. La "salsa de la tienda" de mayo en la mesa estaba tan llena que no se pegaba a ninguna comida. Comimos algo de la comida ya que los dos, como he dicho, éramos voraces. Nadie vino a ver cómo estaba nuestra comida y después de esperar una hora por nuestra comida, ambos estábamos demasiado enojados para decir nada, ya que ahora necesitábamos ir al espectáculo. Durante el resto de la noche, me sentí mal y tuve malestar estomacal toda la noche. Yo no aconsejaría a nadie para comer allí, el llamado chef necesita volver a la escuela o encontrar otra profesión. .

Fantastic range of craft/real ales and continental lagers. Server was very knowledgeable and clearly passionate about the offerings, especially the sours.

Quiet lunch time at The Head of Steam. But still a nice atmosphere. Menu is great with plenty of choice. We all had Gyros which were fab, plenty of salad and sauce and beaut grilled chicken on mine. Fries were good too lovely and crisp and dry not greasy at all. Staff were very friendly and efficient. Would defo go back again

Good range of beverage and love the vegan options. We first tried to come here last Monday but the kitchen was closed at 8pm despite the advertisement about 9pm, it might well be a quiet autumn night. Glad we came back tonight.

Sorry, but £6.70 for a pint in Hull was disgusting. This is Hull is not London .no matter the beer . Apart from that, the bar and atmosphere were lovely. And we may have chosen the wrong type of larger. But we didn't enjoy it and left half each. That's on us. We would struggle to invest out time to go back in for this reason. It's unfortunate as we used to occasionally pop over for a quiet drink. The server could have possibly asked what we were looking for, as we weren't sure in our decisions

One of nicer pubs to visit in Hull, especially in the summer. The outdoor seating area is a great place to unwind in the sun with a nice view of the Hull minster. Another plus is the great plant based offering. They have a plant based version of pretty much everything on the menu.

I really want to like this place and I think if you just went for a drink, it’s an amazing spot with a great atmosphere and nice staff. But the food is really average. It’s expensive for what it is and there are better options near by.

Excellent choice of craft beers and cask ales. Been in here numerous times and there's always plenty of selection. Ordered the food today (Margarita Pizza, Fried Chicken Burger and a side of onion rings). Delicious, great portion and reasonably priced. Service has been fantastic. Thank you Head of Steam 😀🍻

He tenido unas malas experiencias con el personal siendo desagradable, eso fue hace un tiempo así que, hoy en día el personal era amable, nos dieron unas cervezas agradables y almorzamos, los panes planos eran súper sabrosos y una porción generosa, los dos nos encantaron

Drinks have been a bit hit and miss for ages now. I’ve had some terrible pints ie cloudy or sour but to be fair the staff are lovely and will swap them. Last night though however was the last straw for me, my pint of ale tasted old and probably about off and my wife’s aspall cider was sour too. Couldn’t be bothered to take them back once more so left the drinks and went somewhere else. It used to be a good quality drink every time but I feel they don’t look after it these days. Sad as it’s otherwise a nice pub with seemingly nice staff. I’ll be avoiding in the future.

Dissappointed. Looks the part on entry. Glasses were dirty and needed a good wash. Furniture looking very tired. Shame as the atmosphere was good.

Great friendly place! 🍽️ Was lucky enough to get a table straight away. Ordered drinks and was told there was a 45 minutes wait for the food, which wasn't a problem. Ordered some cocktails while we were waiting, and they were fantastic and reasonably priced. Ate here after work and loved the welcoming lights in the window especially on a cold dreary evening. Had Tacos with fries and a pint of cider ..... Not many folk in at this time but the place had a very calming vibe to it.

The head of Steam is a great pub with a good range of beers. The food is very popular, a good place to call in for a drink or a bite to eat if you're in the Old Town. I've called in for a drink with a couple of friends and enjoyed it, and being with the large group on an evening pre booked a table in advance had a good time. The food was very nice. Friendly welcoming staff a good atmosphere.

Popped in for lunch and a beer. I had the onion bhagi burger with Sri Lankan curry and it was very nice. There is a good selection of beer of different strengths. The staff were very friendly and let you take your time.

Great place, lovely food with fantastic service

We booked a table for Saturday tea time for 7 people, and the booking stated that one of the guests would be an 18 month old which would need a high chair. We went to the bar to tell them we were here for a booking and when we shown our table we were seated at one of the two high tables in the whole place. There was no high chair set at the table, so I asked for this and they brought the usual wooden pub highchair over, but if my daughter sat at this at the table her head would be under the table, how were we supposed to have a meal with her like this? We asked if we could be moved to a low table, which there was a large one to seat all 7 of us at where there was one man having a beer, and the next booking for that table was 2 hours later, so we would be gone before the next booking. The bar staff said that he couldn't ask the man to swap tables, unsure why, and the only solutions he had was for us to sit at a table for 4 (way too small and cramped for our party size) or for him to swap one of the high tables for a low table, so we opted for this. However, because the high tables were up against a bench seat it then meant that my husband had to be wedged in behind the table so that there was enough space for me to sit down and not be bumping in to the table behind me. It also meant that we couldn't really speak with the other members of our party as they were sat a good foot above us. Safe to say, I will not be recommending to any of my friends, especially ones with children, and we will look for an alternative next time we visit the area.

Firstly, let me say. The food was amazing, The people that served us the food and drinks to-night were the best I've ever had. The drink and food choices were amazing. I'm not vegan/ vegetarian but I love how inclusive this place is I plan on coming back again since they serve neck oil

I enjoyed my experience at the Head of Steam Hull.

Head of steam hull is delightful and cozy smaller than others of its name like in Leeds the staff are friendly and fun to talk to and the food is amazing. I always enjoy visiting with my partner she loves the vegan options on the menu they always blow expectations out of the water.

Lovely pub in Hull’s old town. The team are lovely and so helpful and the beers and food reflect the spirit of the employees. 5/5 will come again for their excellent vegan range!

Friday afternoon and the pub was fairly busy and had a good atmosphere. Had several "Battleaxe" bitters, very tasty and a good pint of real beer. I was hungry so had a festive pizza, topped with chicken,stuffing, cranberry sauce it was lovely. Had some fries and onion rings too...massive portion of fries. Everything was tasty and beautifully cooked. The star there were all very friendly and made me feel very welcome. I thoroughly recommend this great pub in Hulls Old Town.

Went to this great pub on Friday afternoon, quite busy. Had some lovely "Battleaxe bitter" and then followed with a festive pizza, fries and onion rings. The pizza was delicious and had a lovely cranberry topping, really tasty and very good value. Fries and onion rings were lovely. This is a very good pub to visit. The staff are lovely and very friendly. Well done, Head of steam....

Really great place. Excellent Vegan options on the menu. It was nice to see that the beers were also labelled if they were Vegan which I haven’t seen before. Great service and very friendly staff.

Cracking little pub with Guest ales and fab food.

Head of Steam is usually quite a reliable spot for a good range of craft beer in a nice environment. This pub is nicely laid-out and does indeed have a reasonable selection of craft beer, which is positive. The beer seemed reasonably well-kept, but there were some negatives that impacted the enjoyment. Glassware. Glassware is important. Being served my not-inexpensive pint in a manky, worn-out glass that's at least five years old, has been through the dishwasher so many times the branding has scrubbed off, is the wrong type of glass for the beer and should have been retired before the COVID pandemic somewhat spoils the product. Price. If you're going to charge £7 for a pint that costs £5 elsewhere, you need to do it well. And it isn't done well. Probably resting on the brand a little bit too much at this branch. Could do with a full refresh of the ancient glassware (not one pint of the party of five was served in a decent glass) and a look at the pricing. We're not in London.

Didn't eat but food coming out of the kitchen looked spot on. Pizzas, burgers, tacos,wraps, gyros etc with lots of vegan options. Excellent selection of beers, both on draft and in the fridge. Had local brews alongside Belgian beers, IPA's, international lagers etc so something for everyone. Partner had a decent glass of wine too. Nice bar in a good location. Would recommend a visit.

Walked in unbooked and we were accommodated with no problems. Very polite and helpful staff. The bar and restaurant was very clean and tastefully decorated with quirky features, an excellent choice of beers and a fantastic menu which includes many vegan options. We opted for the bourbon burger and cheesesteak, side of onion rings - faultless with excellent quality ingredients, really nicely presented. The service was excellent from start to finish and the atmosphere was great.

Drinks were lovely great selection and customer service was good. Disappointed with the food ordered the triple stack burger for the price paid it didn't live up to expectations: portion size was small and the bun and chips tasted stale and the burgers were small and hiding in the bun. I'd recommend for drinks but with all the options the food does not stand out to be at the price point.
