Menu with drinks/beer prices nowhere to be seen. Pint of San Miguel 5.70 GBP (very expensive for hull comparing to other bars in the vicinity where I had San mig for 3.80 and 4.90).

First time I have been to this pub, was early in the afternoon and quiet, can imagine it being a popular pub on an evening. Good music etc.. friendly service, the cocktails were lovely! Highly recommend!

Please avoid at all cost we just went in 8 drinks cost £53.20 because they changed £1,70 for a mixer of coke/lemonade so if you do go in ask for a pint of coke/lemonade to mix your drinks that way otherwise you will need a bank loan I will be speaking to the manager at some point before the end of the year trust me

Absolutely disgusting 8 drinks £53 which 3 was pints 5 was shorts charge you more for shot of coke / lemonade then a pint avoid at all costs

Didn't eat as it was after 21:00 on a Saturday night. The atmosphere was great as was the company. Service was great and friendly too. Lots of lovely people enjoying the retro vibes, highly recommend 😊

The Crown & cushion is a trendy bar in Old Town. There is wide selection of beers and lagers on offer, but there was no cask conditioned real ale on the hand pumps when I called in. The beer is quite expensive and there are no bar games. Had a good time Sunday afternoon as the bar took part in the trinity festival and had some great live music on. The festival is on again last weekend in November, January & March. We will definitely be back then.

We had drinks last Friday in the C+C on behalf of the group we did enjoy the experience it was a clean and tidy venue with a vibe. The member of staff was helpful and ensured all our needs where met

If you’re in the old town, this bar is definitely worth going in. Always great atmosphere, with good music. Staff are also really friendly. My wife lost her phone whilst inside and they ensured the safe return the next day. Very trustworthy.

The fact that this place lets people take advantage of girls is disgusting!! Woke up to a £50 transaction and my friend had one for £70. We only went in for 1 drink. Stay away from this place there is plenty more pubs about.

AVOID at all costs, got totally scammed in this bar, woke up the next day with a £70 charge on my visa and a £50 charge on my friends visa we only went in for 1 drink, there are lots of other lovely bars choose wisely and avoid The Crown and Cushion 🤬🤬🤬

A fantastic bar, great music, great atmosphere, a must bar to go to in hull on a Friday and Saturday nights, open till 3 am, the place to go in Hull old Town.

Visited here for a family birthday drinks. Very disappointed! Very high prices and badly maintained barely! Prices were almost double of nearby bars (George Hotel, Burlington Tavern, Kingston etc). Floor in the bar was sticky, despite barman spending time on his phone when not serving, and toilets were not maintained with a glass stood in one urinal and a hand dryer with the push button hanging out on a spring. I will go elsewhere before going back here again!!

A great pub good to see it busy again

Reasonably fast service and reasonably priced drinks. The menu included a number of popular beers as to be expected but also a nice variety of gins and other less common drinks. Outside sitting area at the back of the bar was well decorated with a nice atmosphere and had a few large table umbrellas so rain wasn't a bother even when it got a bit windy. No heaters though and the toilets are not necessarily always clean.

Good service and staff were nice

This establishment is one of the best we have found in Hull. Always good to find small dishes on a menu, rather than having vast quantities of food shoved on one plate. The garlic mushrooms were spot on, as was the chicken and chorizo, although I would have liked a slightly spicier chorizo. The pies are supplied by the excellent Hull Pie, you can't go wrong with them. Very reasonably priced and a good atmosphere in the pub.

After arriving in hull at dinner time we were absolutely starved but specifically wanted a Sunday Roast. We didn’t have a clue where to go for the roast and was just about to enter Yates as they are standard (but you know what your gonna get!) then we spotted the Crown and cushion which looked quite inviting! When we entered it was really quiet and wasn’t sure if this was a warning sign or not, however when our Sunday Roasts were served we were glad we chose this place!!! The Yorkshire puddings were cooked spot on, the chicken was moist and seasoned to perfection with a hint of Lemon and Rosemary and all the veggies were not cooked to every inch of there life and again perfect, finished off with a really tasty Gravy!!! I would not hesitate to go back to this place as the food was exceptional!!! Keep up the good work!!!

Needed something to eat before meeting up with freidns for a night out in town. Spotted this place and took a quick gander at the menu and thought we would pop in. The decor of the place is nice a articticly done, with a few quirky images. Whilst the item that initially drew us in was that face that is was seling 'The Pie Shop' pies [well known in Hull for very good quality and flavoursome pies] we actually decided on a more 'tapas' style small plate offering. You get to chose 3 small plates for the very reasonable £12ish price point. We went for the gnocci, some calimari and also some Chorizo...and they are all served with some ciabatta bread. The food came to us in reasonable time, although the barmen apologised for the delay. Im lead to believe that there was a longer delay if we were having mains, but again we did hear the barman letting people know that before ordering. To me I do not mind the wait, if the food is worth it. For us, with the small plates, it was, and even if we had had a main [i.e. the Pies] then we know how good they are, so would have just sat back and enjoyed the place [and an extra pint] whilst waiting. The 3 small plate selection we had filled us nicely to line the stomach before hitting the town for a few beers, and left us satiated with tasty nibbles, without the destended stomach and no room for any drinks. Will definately be going back for the Pie experience.

Had our Xmas gathering here yesterday. Food was fabulous and staff friendly and accommodating, adding an extra person at the last minute with no complaints. Service was next to none and I’m sure we’ll all be back again. Thank you.

An enjoyable Sunday lunch here. Roast beef tasty and tender vegetables nicely cooked. The pies looked very nice and meaty it was a hard job deciding what to try from the menu.

We called by here on the off chance after finding our usual places ( Wings, Wetherspoons etc.) with queues or packed on a busier the normal Saturday night. The staff were welcoming and informative. The wine and beer very nice but the food was amazing. We had the Mexican wrap and the quesilladia. You could tell that this was freshly cooked with proper ingredients ( not the usual frozen pub grub). A real find for two weary and hungry people. They serve food until 8-00pm. A few other places we tried had stopped serving at 6-00. Their loss.

Called in today with friends for the first time. The Hull Pie drew my husband and I to the menu board. Service was excellent and soooo good to be able to enjoy a long missed pie. Our friends had only heard about Hull pies and were not disappointed. Will visit the Crown and cushion again after a pleasurable visit today .

The menu was great, the food was even better!!

We ate here early on a Wednesday evening. We were the only diners the whole time, which is a shame as this is a gem. The menu is a bit random - a choice of pies or tapas. We both had pies and they were excellent. We shared a rich chocolate fondant between us. The food was really tasty, the service superb and it was excellent value for money. We will definitely return when we are next in Hull.

Two of us ordered small plates: calamari, chicken wings, halloumi, tomatoes with Parmesan, fried gnocchi and garlic mushrooms. All of them were delicious, but the mushrooms were our favourite. The other two members of our group had pies. They were slightly overcooked, but still tasty. Total recommendation

My wife and I were visiting Hull for the first time. A weekend birthday/anniversary treat. Before going to the cinema on a Friday night we decided to explore the old town area. We popped into here to eat around 5pm after the menu caught our attention. Though it was quiet when we arrived, the staff were super friendly and welcoming. We opted for the steak&ale and chicken,bacon & leek pies, which arrived promptly and were really tasty. There is a good selection of beers which the barman offered me to try before you buy. Also the staff were very helpful in giving us information on places to visit in Hull. We would recommend anyone visiting Hull for the first time to stop in here.

A newish, to me anyway, pub near the old town of Hull. This place looks large from the outside, but one through the door, it reveals itself to be quite small, with an old school bar vibe. As it was lunch, we were there for food rather than drink, and the menu covers lots of pub greats, including award winning pies, burgers, small plates, and what I was here for the Poutine. My other half had three small plates, which she was very taken with, and wasn't in the mood to share. Which suited me fine, as I was in no mood to share my Poutine either!

Welcomed on a Saturday evening with a 7 year old, guys behind the bar were really friendly. We had food while here which was spot on, 4 empty plates! We didn't realise until we left that they kept the music down lower, as we walked out they turned up the volume. I'm guessing this was because we had our son with us, they didn't have to do that but it's the small touches which make the difference. We'd driven up from Notting for an overnight stay and was later than expected so finding somwhere in Hull City Centre on a Saturday night was difficult, we had been refused from a number of places as we had a child with us. We would definitely recommend.

Great atmosphere and great tunes!

Tucked away in the old town, was quiet when we arrived. Quite a few people cane in for the pies which looked really nice. The menu isn’t vast and it is very much a pub, sticky floor included! The food however was really good and reasonably priced. The sandwich had lots of warm filling and the brisket and cheese burger with a pretzel bun was really nice, the skinny fries were lovely. Wasn’t sure when we arrived but the food won me over!

We visited as a family of four on Sunday 24th March 2019. It was our first visit and it certainly won't be our last! We received a warm welcome on arrival and given a choice of tables to sit at. We chose to sit at a window table. The menu had a good choice for all and included several choices of kids meals. My son chose the meatballs. Myself, my Husband and our daughter all chose pies from 'The Hull Pie' options on the menu. I had the curried vegetable pie. It was delicious! The Sunday roast meals looked delicious! We saw several plates served up while we were in there. The Yorkshire puddings looked amazing. We'll definitely be giving the roast dinner a try some time! Prompt, friendly service. I highly recommend a visit to The Crown and Cushion Pub.

Initially we were very disappointed as we had planned to sample a number of the dishes from the Tapas menu. When perusing the menu it soon became obvious that a number of items had been permanently removed from the Tapas menu and then we were subsequently told that further Tapas items were not available as they had been so busy on the previous day.

Thoroughly recommended for a super Sunday lunch. Opted for the black peppered brisket from the choices on offer, which was so tender and tasty. Accompanying vegetables and a large Yorkshire pudding were perfect, though individual small jugs containing the gravy could do with being a little larger.

The food here is really tasty and great value for money. I had the chicken, bacon and leek pie with mash and carrots which was amazing, so glad to have found a place where you can sit down and eat Hull pie again. My partner had three small plates which were very filling and had lovely flavours, especially the halloumi bites. There's a good choice of beer, maybe a little expensive but probably around the average for the area of town. Staff were lovely and pleasant. Will definitely return to try more off the small plates menu and of course pie!

Came here on Mothers Day, the quality of food is excellent, both the pies on the sunday roast. The pies was absolutely spot on and the price for the meals was great, especially for what you got! Would definitely come back for food. Customer Service is also way up to standard, the only fault is that the price for a pint is maybe a little to much!

I'm not much of a pie person but my partner is so we went in and I have to say I have never had a nicer meal the pies were brilliant and I cannot fault the service. 10/10 would go again next time I'm in Hull!

First time here, had Sunday lunch. Brisket and Lamb absolutely stunning. Every vegetable perfectly cooked and delicious. Yorkshire pudding huge! Gravy amazing. Small plates very tasty, calamari great but halloumi the best I've ever eaten. Fresh bread, terrific skin on chips. See photos. Brilliant cassis bramble too! Lovely environment too, very clean and neat, great friendly staff but quite small as a pub, so get here early! Lived in Hull for years but this is one of the best Sunday lunches I've ever had here. Excellent food and excellent customer service. Highly recommended to everyone we know. The waiter couldn't haven't been more accommodating.

Both went in and had the pie with two sides. 2 pints and 2 mains for around £25. For the standard of the pies and the level of service we received id highly recommend going here if you want something warm and hearty.

Recently refurbished and rebranded. Lovely decor, fabulous choice of drinks and excellent music. Very busy Friday and Saturday nights. Haven’t tried the food but looks and smells delicious. Good choice of gins, vodka and beer.

Went for hubbies birthday, 7 people altogether and the place is lovely staff were very accommodating and the food was beautiful.

Sunday lunch in here is gorgeous, lovely tender meat a great big home made Yorkshire pudding and lovely veg.

Great little pub near to everything you'd visit. Prices are more than reasonable and the food is classic and spot on. The atmosphere is great on an evening and on a lunch time. Order anything and you can't go wrong. Highly recommended.

Lovely little place. Staff friendly and attentive. We ordered 3 small meals.. I had roast cauliflower, bacon and cheese, herby potatoes and halumi deep fried all served in a little pan placed on a board with bread, butter. I will definitely go again.. the burgers are homemade and I would love to try them.

Myself and my Mum went to this lovely place for our Lunch today (23/2/19). It was quiet when we arrived and we sat in the corner table for 2 situated next to the bar. Staff very friendly and attentive. Food was absolutely delicious we both had 3 small plates. Very very good experience! We will be returning!

We are occasional visitors to Hull's old town and the opening of another new bar which also offered food at lunchtime was very appealing. Anyway, 6 of us arranged to meet there with the intention of staying there for a few hours of eats and drinks. We ended up leaving after our first round. Why? (1) Staff did not really seem interested in serving us ....too busy on their mobile phones, (2) one of the two real ales on after was clearly past its best (yes, we could have complained but when you are in a larger group you don't like to cause a fuss), (3) member of staff stood in the fire exit to smoke ....stench just came back inside. Then to add insult to injury, he just went back to serving without even washing his hands. At the point we decided to take our business elsewhere.

The small plates were delicious, Halloumi bits and garlic mushrooms my favourites but the Gnocchi potatoes and the soup of the day get great comments from the rest of the group. Three real ales. Great staff. The food is amazing.

One of the best Sunday dinners I have had in a long time, good portions and a great selection of ales at the bar. I would highly recommend a visit, they do tapas and pies also.

Went here yesterday for lunch. Absolutely delicious, we had a selection of small plates and some sweet potato fries, all was brilliant. I especially loved the Roasted Garlic Green Beans and the Halloumi Bites! Really good value, highly recommended!!!

Popped in for a coffee, the staff were great very polite and attentive, the coffee even came with a home made chocolate on the side, Have yet to try the food but the menu looked great.

So glad this place opened bringing something different to hull. Obviously the best pie’s in hull and the world! Seriously! The side are also very nice and generous portion sizes. Staff all very friendly and helpful and very fast service. Excellent

Great food, great service, reasonably priced, friendly staff and nice jovial atmosphere - something to venture into old town for along with The Mission now most of the old haunts are gone or filled with lairy tweens and alcos, filling up on cheap lager in the 3 overly cheap bars within throwing distance. Geez, I sound like my Grandad :D but, seriously it's a nice little place in the midst of a typical Wetherspoon and two other £1.99 a pint dives.

We booked our Christmas Lunch for a party of 9 back in November after hearing that the founder of the Hull Pie franchise had taken over the kitchen. As a team we have indulged on the Hull Pie delights on many occasions and wanted to host our Christmas Lunch at their new eatery. We were not disappointed.

Visited 2nd December for Sunday lunch and we were not disappointed. I had the brisket which was soft like butter and incredibly tasty. It came with roasted veg, potatoes and a giant Yorkshire pudding. My mum had a Pie with chips and peas and both meals came with a small jug of gravy each.
