Del Gelato in Kingston upon Hull, City of

Very disappointed this weekend. We have eaten here many times and enjoyed the food. My daughter is soya intolerant but had no problem ordering soya free products in the past. This weekend we were told due to a supplier change there was nothing on the menu available for my daughter. She is also dairy intolerant and I appreciate choice is always a problem but to now find there is nothing she can have is sad. The attitude of the staff wasn't great either a case of "ah well, tough". When I mentioned this I was told "we are not a vegan business". Unfortunately, despite previously enjoying our visits we can no longer go again.

I have often visited here always loved it I always get a hot chocolate but…. Todays hot chocolate well if I shut my eyes it tasted like hot water I asked a member of staff if the recipe had changed the reaction was no why very abrupt I just said it tasted of nothing no response apart from a shrug of the shoulders not very good customer service and I don’t think I will be revisiting I think I will spend my £27 somewhere other then here 😡

Our first visit to Del Gelato this afternoon. Not exactly ice cream weather but it's definitely worth a visit for the lovely coffee and other desserts available. Great customer service from the young woman serving today. Very clean place. And big! Plenty of seating (bench style built-in and chairs) and a lovely corner, which would be a great place for meeting up with a party of friends. Not busy this afternoon but I'm told it's a busy spot in the summer months. The variety of ice cream available is huge. Served in a cone or a dish. Cheesecakes and other desserts available. Prices are good. All in all a very nice place to visit. Oh, and plenty of free parking. I gave a 3* review for the atmosphere as there's no music and not being busy it lacked a little something.

As always this is place to go for Ice cream;) unless you are happened to be in Ripon near Knaresborough that also great 👍 ice cream place ;) Del gelato have great variation of tasty 😋 ice cream 🍨 which you will devour with joy 😊

I like the people who works at Del Gelato and they are the nicest people that I met already and the best place to have a proper ice cream and ice cream sundaes and Milkshakes and Waffles and Cookie Doughs and Del Gelato is the best place ever and to say thank you for everything but it doesn't have to be a reason because you guys are just like the best staff ever and that's just said enough.

Popped in on the off-chance for an ice cream. I had a knicker bocker glory which was absolutely delicious. The owner changed one ice cream at my request for a brandy snap ice cream. It was gorgeous. I will return in a heartbeat. I gave the atmosphere only 3 stars . NOT THE OWNERS FAULT. Some very noisy and unruly little children came in screaming and shouting. As I said I would return in a heartbeat.

I popped in for an ice cream at del gelatos. On entering I was met by a massive fridge with a wonderful assortment of ice cream. I quickly ordered a knicker bocker glory. I asked for brandy snap, strawberry, and vanilla. It also came with soft fruits fresh cream and 2 biscuits. The staff were lovely with very quick service. I will hopefully return to sample some more yummy delights.

Far too slow - ordered two ice cream sundaes and waited nearly half an hour. Wasn’t even busy. Shame because ice cream was great and the selection to choose from was amazing. Be prepared to have your patience tested

The cakes are soo good that they cure depression.

Went here on my way back from treating my wife out for her birthday as she fancied a waffle and most the coastal places where shut when we got there. This place blew us away, the girls serving us was amazing, even though it was close to closing it had a happy cheerful atmosphere and couldn't do enough for us. 100% a credit to this company and they deserve to be recognised for their work. I would recommend this place without hesitation and I'll definately be back again and again. Thanks for the great service and amazing food.

Wonderful gelato, lots of choice and lovely staff! We came here as were really looking forward to a dessert but had to walk out of another dessert place on Paragon Street in Hull City Centre as service was so slow and a member of staff was surprisingly incredibly rude! They did us a favour as we enjoyed everything we ordered here and will definitely return.

Service was terribly slow, waiting over half an hour for 3 milkshakes and a sundae. Went upstairs to sit as downstairs only had small tables empty, to be told upstairs was closed… no signs to say so and tables up there had been used as plates were sat there, was pointed to a dirty table. They came and took the rubbish but never wiped the ice cream muck. Looking around they have also decorated a wall with real cones with marshmallows to look like ice creams, these are dusty and look like they have been there years. Doesn’t give hygienic vibes.

Came for a treat which we ate in store, and was delicious as always. However issues arose after we decided to take some ice cream home for my other daughters. We asked to split the 5 scoop take out box into two sestate boxes for allergy reasons, despite explaining this, we ended up paying for two separate take out boxes of two scoops, which was significantly more expensive, as they are unable to split boxes. A gentleman, who I assume was the manager came to apologise, and said it was just the way the system is set up, and advised he would pass on our comments. However, doesn’t stop you feeling as though people with allergies ( so a genuine reason for the request) are being penalised. Unfortunately this left a very bitter taste to what should have been a lovely afternoon.

Bought chocolate cookie dough, salted caramel slice, tub of mint choc chip ice cream and large cappuccino. Excellent service and taste.

We love coming here for our weekly treat, so many ice cream flavors to choose from, the cakes and desserts are lovely too. I think the prices are very reasonable and you definitely get what you pay for, handmade ice cream, proper coffee and good size portions. We're usually served by the owner/manager who is always polite and friendly. Highly recommend

No hello we'll be with you shortly from the staff, no smile as we walked in and queued and no thank you as we left I asked why I only had the flavour of the ice cream and no shortbread, sauce etc on my scoop. One staff member explained that management tells them to scoop it from the back/ bottom to keep the displays looking good as he likes it that way Call me old fashioned but if I'm buying raspberry ripple cheesecake ice cream I would have liked some sauce and actual cheesecake Expensive too!

Love this place cost lot more since lockdown which is disappointing as I can't afford to take my grandkids anymore as there not little an want more than a little tub,but positive side, staff are very helpful an friendly ice-cream is so nice an you can swap the ice cream that comes with what you want I ordered waffles an changed the ice cream on it they was enough for 2 of us just wish I asked them to put what I left in box to bring home. 😊 😋

Nice cafe and experience this afternoon.. lovely flavours of gelato to choose from. Only things that spoiled it sadly was the service. It wasn't awful but I felt a bit patronised by the lady serving me and the main mananger was sat down didn't greet me with a smile. . I will be back again to try the hot desserts but service with a smile wouldn't go a miss. I felt more welcomed by fellow customers. Maybe just a busy day for them.

Good choice of ice cream flavors,, fantastic decor.. Good choice of hot drinks n cakes. I would say it was quite expensive though.. ive just paid £10 for cookie dough and a cake slice.. And my hubby paid £3.95 for 2scoops and £5.15 for 3 scoops.. Enjoyed it..

Great prices, great tastes, large portions, relaxing environment, if you want to sit in. Much, much better than the other "gelato" places. These may have started the trend in our city, yet Del Gelato does it right! Certainly worth you visit.

To all Check your ice cream when it's being prepared as just 2 scoops put back in cold counter after being put together (one had nuts) This was mentioned by another customer but with very little care about the issue by a staff member Just to be careful

Very disappointing, which is a shame as me and my family love Del Gelato. The table was dirty when we first came in, we got baby waffles and a cookie dough all for £18 which is quite expensive for what we got. We ordered tap water and it came warm, i know it’s free but we sent it back and still got warm water but the waiter was happy to change it and explained they had no ice. we received our waffles and cookie dough in a good time, so we weren’t waiting very long. Though when we cut into the waffles it fell in two, which i think is poor quality for the price, almost like it got stuck to the waffle machine and was placed ontop. Though i have to say, the ice cream never lets us down, it still is amazing! Just a shame how the other bits were so disappointing as it will be quite awhile until we will return. noticed how it’s gone down hill since the pandemic and had been shut, almost gone abit lazy.

Called in on Sunday I ordered 1 scoop of ice cream in a cup and 1 scoop in a cone this order took 20 mins for me to get I could not believe it 4 people behind the counter and this was how long it took something needs to be done about customer service. However the I’ve cream was delicious but not worth the wait

Went Sunday for dessert after a really bad Sunday carvry at a pub in hedon in del giatos thes service was very slow there wasn't very busy only about 3 tables 2 had been servied and we waited over half an hour for our order one of our items was only a scoop of ice cream girl who served us was very nice but long wait

Appalling service useless staff We arrived to find the restaurant open did take out only with no explanation as to why The four young girls serving were stood giggling, very unhelpful, to shy to answer questions & simply couldn’t hear even though I was almost having to shout my order. Staff totally inadequate.

Some of the best ice cream I've ever had. The facilities are impressive too, although not available during the pandemic. I look forward to one day being able to eat in there again. Love it!

I don't mind were I get ice cream from, as long as it is good quality. Never understand why people buy ice cream litres of the stuff for a quid or more Each of us tried, numerous favours and wasn't let down although, I did get brain freeze for a moment, next time we're in the area, I'll be popping back in. I popped in to get us both an ice cream on one of the hottest days of the year. It is still take away only. There were more staff than customers. I couldn't see a price list. There was a lot of choice. I ordered 2 ice creams, one mint choc chip and one Snickers. We had 2 scoops, not realising how big they were! At £3.30 each it was not the cheapest treat. 1 scoop would have been plenty. They were delicious though! I was a bit surprised that the peanuts were salted however (not exactly Snickers) and felt that it should be labelled as such. I would have chosen something different had I known.

AMAZING GELATO! The best gelato place in Hull! Went here today for takeout treats and ordered for the whole family, all I can say is amazing service, delicious and WOULD 100% RECOMMED!

Would recommend! Ordered a Chocolate Cookie Dough with a scoop of ice-cream on top, it was fantastic! Family loved it and was really fast delivery! It's no doubt that it was the best ice-cream I have ever had.

The ice cream was nice but what concerned me was the service. When the waitress brought over the order she was not wearing gloves so her hands were touching the cones. When I had been previously the waitress was wearing gloves and there was a napkin around the cone. You would have thought with all the publicity about cononavirus they would be taking more precautions not less!!!!

Waitress wasn’t wearing gloves and usually when they serve you the cone is wrapped in a napkin but this time it wasn’t so her hands were touching the cone. I can’t imagine she washes her hands every time she takes money from a customer or touches other surfaces. You would think at the moment they would have been told to be extra cautious with regard to hygiene. I just hope she washes her hands when she goes to the toilet. But the ice cream did taste of strawberry and nothing else! I’m glad I didn’t ask for sprinkles!

Delicious desserts, I love the banoffee cookie dough and ice cream with a coffee x You can't give 5 stars twice but I'd only ever go here or pizza hut for cookie dough and ice cream.

The service of the place was spot on and the quality of the food was brilliant. The staff where friendly. The seats where so dirty, I used the wipes and the wipes where black to be honest they shouldnt be this dirty if they get cleaned daily. Even other seat looked as dirty

Cold day, door wide open all times. Big sundaes but very boring, for price was expecting some cookie dough or pieces of in ice cream, bland and very little sauce in salted caramel one, just ice cream and cream, nothing special. Dissapointed. Was only 3 cake to choose from, was expecting choice and fanciness likes of cafe gelato, Newland Ave. Slow service, won't be going again and will telling others of the experience 👎

Not being funny but horrible service, staff could do with a smile every now and then wouldn't hurt. My sister ordered a sundae and got a waffle!! And my mum removed an item from her sundae and got it covered in the thing she removed. When she got it back they hadn't changed it they had just removed the item and added cream wasn't a new ice cream was all melted. Won't be going here again! Avoid i say ! Also not the first time something like this has happened so avoid !!

Lovely quiet place for a coffee and chat but downstairs toilet has been closed for a few weeks now. It's a long way upstairs for some older people

Brilliant ice cream parlour / cafe in the Holderness road area. Good coffee, plenty of seating and amazing ice cream, sundaes and waffles on offer!

The service varies each time I visit, from good to great. There's plenty of flavours of ice cream and gelato available as well as cookie dough and waffles. Great for a sweet treat.

Terrible went in for evening drinks served cold twice got splashed with cold water waitress found it amusing!!! Made floor wet my stick slipped on it much to staffs amusement as disabled didn't appreciate it will not go back

I am regular customer coming there just from open restaurant and I can say now every time I am more disappointed, customer service res and res so bad pure customer service even absolutely not buzzy.I don't mind few times cleaning by self table but common when stuff just stay and not doit nothing at all?? Not clean. Forgot absolutely about my order when in all restaurant was jus 2 table with my. Thinking not coming back probably is shame cos I like this place but stuff absolutely shocking bad.

I always love the gelato from here. Great selection to choose from, polite staff and reasonable prices. Last few times I've been have been ridiculous waiting times. My family waited 25 minutes for 4 scoops of ice cream. Seriously, 4 scoops 25 minutes.
