Excellent in every way, drinks variety, food and atmosphere are all exceptional Staff are brilliant Music is varied and good I would 💯 recommend this venue 👌

Team away day and ended up here. Food was good and plentiful. I had the chilli loved fries and was more than enough on the plate. Menu had, pizza, gyros, burgers and different loaded fries. Live music on and we were told before we ordered incase we all wanted somewhere quiet. Great food, great different Ales and if you're after a night out with Live music, would highly recommend.

I spent a few hours here and really enjoyed it. The food was nice and the variety of drinks was good as well. I especially enjoyed the music they were playing!

I had an amazing time at Head of Steam Cardiff. From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere was warm and welcoming. The staff was incredibly friendly and attentive, making sure we had everything we needed throughout the evening. The selection of drinks was top-notch, with a great mix of craft beers and classic cocktails. The food was absolutely delicious—everything from the hearty pub favourites to the more creative dishes was cooked to perfection.

Red haired staff member with tattoos on her face serving on the bar is as rude as it comes, and shouldn't be working in hospitality. Won't be visiting again.

Well stocked bar and a good selection of beers on tap. The menu is an upmarket selection of pub food that was all done very well. Nice atmosphere, fairly quiet when we went but you can imagine it can get pretty busy when sport is on but to cope they don't have the commentary on at all times unless there is a large crowd to watch something specific. They also have a large bar, lots of seating including an upstairs and a pool table.

Great beer selection! Lots of options for vegans and veggies too (drinks and food).. I came in the other day with my pup and was served by Nadia and Cadi - Brilliant recommendations and customer service! (they love dogs and always bring a bowl of water when you bring them in!) Will definitely be one of my regular pubs when I'm out drinking in the differ from now on!

I visited with my family last week and we thought the food and selection of beers was excellent. I'm vegetarian and I was very surprised at the amount of food options available to me. The staff were really friendly too!

Amazing experience! 10/10! Came here for a family meal and Cadi served us. Not only was the food fantastic, but the service was beyond. Recommending amazing ales/spirits, based off similar drinks we like and generally getting to know us. Lovely environment. Will be returning and hoping she is my bartender again :)

This might be my new favourite bar in Cardiff. Clean lines and crisp beer with attentive staff. I brought some friends here the other week who were visiting and we had a thoroughly enjoyable day watching all of the rugby, what a cracking atmosphere despite the result! A special mention to the bar manager that day who was very accommodating to the specific needs of one of our party members.

Amazing food will definetly be back again

A wide selection of different beers, some that you rarely see elsewhere and some household names. General atmosphere was good bar could sometimes be hectic but that's a Saturday afternoon thing.

I popped into the Head of Steam for a quick drink after a meal in town and was pleasantly surprised. They had a great selection of alcohol-free drinks behind the bar (beers, ciders and two of the Whitley-Neill gins - raspberry and rhubarb and ginger). I don’t know if that was a dry January thing or year round. Lots of space and different seating areas, with another area upstairs that has a bar. The downstairs bar reminds me of pubs I’ve been to in Belgium with lots of glass ware around. There’s also a pool table.

My partner and I and Bayley the dog had a fab time staff were so friendly and amazing with our Dog food was amazing a fab selection of Drinks at reasonable prices only one down fall it was rather cold no heating apart from that we had an Amazing time and will be returning 😀

Vamos aquí regularmente cuando estamos en Cardiff. El personal es amable y servicial. Permiten la entrada de perros y el personal siempre trae un tazón de agua para ellos. La comida es ‘Pub food’ pero debo añadir que siempre es muy sabrosa y cocinada a la perfección. Tuve pizza hoy, principalmente porque el perro espera que comparta, pero he probado la mayoría de los otros elementos del menú anteriormente. HOS también tiene una buena selección de cervezas de barril. El personal siempre da una buena recomendación!

Half the taps were out of action. Seem to have issues managing their orders. Fine if you want a bottled beer, nice large venue and friendly bar staff

Cracking range of beer. The lighting provides a really cosy atmosphere along with the furniture. Staff are very friendly. The delirium on tap is a lovely tipple.

Went there for a rugby day and other than not being able to see a screen because of the booths having panel above obscuring the view, it was a very good experience. Richard behind the gave great suggestions on beer, especially peach beer, and food.

Great range of beers. A chap called Rich was able to provide some stellar recommendations for a decent tipple. First class service.

An excellent 'pub in the centre of Cardiff and very busy compared with some others in the area - that speaks volumes! Swift and polite service; reasonable prices; I found Brains Dark at last (I was told by some regulars that this is the ONLY 'pub in Cardiff which serves it) - superb and only 3.5% abv - another excellent session ale. It is a rugby-themed 'pub, I can imagine how busy it must get on an international day but well worth the effort. I did not eat so no comments upon the food - next time maybe and I shall be back.

Yo solía ser un fan de este bar, pero creo que £ 7. 30 para un trópico clwb es un poco salado, especialmente con un pequeño rebelde a 200 yardas de distancia. También la señora detrás de la barra fue grosera.

Awesome place to sample some ales and craft that you don't see in the other pubs. Big selection on the bar and in the fridges. I personally recommend the Vault City Iron Brew sour. Lovely stuff. They also have Shuffleboard tables which are VERY fun and addictive. Friendly staff and decent doormen too.

We first ate here a few months ago and came back for my daughter's birthday. Service was great and the beer very good. However we are puzzled as to what has happened to the food. We compared photos of the burgers from April with what was served this time. The burgers have shrunk and so have the chips. If it wasn't for the photo we would have believed it was a different venue. So very puzzling

Stopped by for a couple of beers with some collegues. It’s a big old place with seating upstairs also. It’s an a good spot with a number of good restaurants in close proximity. Huge selection of beers from around the globe. We opted for a Belgian experience and they did not disappoint! I’m sure the floor was a bit uneven as we were leaving….. actually, perhaps it was the Le Trappe rocket fuel that we were drinking! Staff were friendly and efficient and I’ll definitely be returning next time I’m in town.

First time in Cardiff and we ended up going several times in our short stay , they had a range of craft beers my other half was happy with , staff are so lovely they even managed to get help for a local homeless man. They have games and a lovely relaxing atmosphere.

Quick drink before a stadium gig. Superb selection of alcohol free beers, IPAs, session IPAs, all sorts, probably the best selection in Cardiff. Really friendly bar staff, good atmosphere. Highly recommend and will be back

Great selection of pints, some great GF options and some great low/no alcohol options too! Food is great, burgers are top notch and relatively well priced. Recommend to book if you want a table on busy weekends but it's quiet enough if there's nothing in Cardiff on the day.

Had a lovely lunch here. Unfortunately they were operating a reduced menu and a few things we picked weren’t available but, what we had was delicious and fresh. Staff were helpful and very welcoming

Pasé a cenar tarde. Tengo el pan plano de pollo shawarma, doble hamburguesa con queso y hamburguesa vegetal. Genial que los bollos fueran marcados con el nombre del restaurante. La comida y las bebidas eran sabrosas y el servidor era muy amable.

Todos tuvimos un tiempo encantador aquí. ¡Pruebe un catador de IPA por £ 10 y disfrute de cada uno! Personal encantador y sin duda recomendaría y traería gente aquí de nuevo. If you're into beer, then this is definitely a great place to visit. There is a wide selection available with plenty to choose from. A little more expensive compared to most places in Cardiff, but worth visiting!

Stopped in on a Sunday afternoon for a pint, looking for something from a local brewery. Service was awesome and very helpful. Tried the Frank and Otis hazy ipa (based on the bartenders recco) did not disappoint. Fun fact. Frank and Otis are the names of the brewer's dogs. Great location in city center. Clean and comfortable. Would happily stop by again.

Excellent selections of beers including half a dozen Cask Ales. Vegan options on the menu--burgers and the like. Gets busy. Order at the bar. Bring cash for tips--machine won't take them when we were there.

It was VERY CLEAN, but the menus were a bit sticky. The food was very good and juicy, and it had a lot of flavor (please thank the chef). The service was also very good (amazing).

Great Food, friendly staff, with a wide selection of drinks to choose from. Fantastic decor and great music which gives a relaxed vibe. Both my partner and myself had the fried chicken burger, highly recommended l!!! Been here on a few occasions for drinks, but this is our first for food and we are definitely coming back.

Friendly and vibrant atmosphere. Staff fitted us in last minute and found us enough space to fit 10 people.

Fantastic experience at Head of Steam last Saturday. 9 of us turned up last minute looking for a table and were greeted with enthusiastic staff who found us a table straight away. This is the 3rd time I have visited as a repeat customer. Previously visited with my two children and found the menu and staff very child friendly. Great price drinks and a good variety, will be back, can’t wait to try the new menu and gluten free pizza base.

Great venue with fab decor. The staff are very friendly, welcoming and always greet you with a smile. Wide selection of beers. Bristol Cider and Krusovice were absolutely delicious. The Head of Steam pizza and burger were absolutely phenomenal. Will definitely be back.

Came here for my leaving drinks with about 10 people. Most of us had burgers and I recommend the double stack - really tasty, handmade, and very good portion size. The variety of beers on tap is impressive, and it has a casual, rustic vibe.

Lovely pub, nice food, great selection of beer, staff friendly and helpful. The manager got us a table, even though they were fully booked with reservations. Personally, when a stadium event is on, I would not block tables in this manor as the seating upstairs was only a third of capacity, and of all the bars we walked passed, it was the quietest as people were told all tables reserved, we sat outside for half an hour and manager got us a table as a part had not arrived. I don't want to take away from the overall experience as we stayed for a couple of hours, had food, and sampled the many ales, stouts, lagers, etc, on offer and can not fault any of it.
