Afternoon tea was great. Best scones ever!! Service was friendly too.

Tea served in pretty bone China cups but sandwiches which wouldn't be out of place on a building site. Just a mess to eat and I found it off putting so decided to leave it. £28 for 2 sandwiches, 1 tea and a diet coke, bit steep. Won't bother again.

Absolutely delicious food, and lovely servers. This is my first time in Cardiff and this cafe certainly did not disappoint. Beautiful decor, very relaxing and overall enjoyable. I cannot rave enough about the eggs Benedict. The eggs are incredible- soft but sturdy, with a super runny middle. Perfect!

First time in Cardiff, and my friend brought me here. Really lovely place. Comfortable. The food portion is just right, and the music is perfect. Staff are very friendly as well

Perfect spot for a coffee (or food) tucked away nicely from the hustle and bustle of the main streets. Cosy atmosphere inside but we chose to sit outside in the arcade 😊

I visited a few weeks back on a Saturday with a friend for a catch up and afternoon tea. It was nice to be able to do it on a whim as they’re walk ins only on a Saturday in a world of pre-booking! I highly enjoyed and it and would recommend and hope to go back myself! Really tasty scones! The afternoon tea was about £30 for two people you get unlimited tea refills. They also had a big menu which contained sandwiches and pancakes I saw being brought out which looked huge! I sat outdoors and there is blankets on the chairs if needed which is a nice touch especially in wales where it’s likely to be cold / rainy! You order inside at the till but my table didn’t have a menu and there wasn’t really anyone around to ask but luckily we looked in advance. It did take quite a long time for the afternoon tea to come out around half hour so that was the only downside but luckily we weren’t in a rush!

Mi amigo había reservado el té de la tarde para nosotros para mi cumpleaños y oh mi palabra, fue increíble! Los sándwiches eran gruesos, teníamos 2 bollos cada uno, una gran rebanada de pastel y postres pequeños surtidos, bien valió la pena el precio, sin duda volvería allí de nuevo!

Easy to find and access with mobility issues (as long as you can grab someone to help with the door, which staff are nearby and responsive to help with). Absolutely gorgeous decor, and the cream tea was amazing. Though for older customers or those with issues with difficulties with grip, the teapots may be a little heavy or cumbersome to pour unassisted. Lovely experience overall ☺️

Fabulous place, superb service for afternoon tea. The staff explained all the types of tea available and even gave us a free sample of one to take home. Food and setting was great!

This is a nice, relaxing place to grab a bite, so I went in for a quick breakfast and ordered the pancakes with bacon, blueberries and strawberries. Question: who in their right mind serves limp, fried and pale back bacon with pancakes when crispy, streaky bacon (preferably glazed in maple syrup) is clearly called for? The pancakes and fruit were pretty solid, and overall pretty good value but the bacon was an abomination. 😉 I hope they come to see the error of their ways.

Encontramos una mesa bastante rápido cuando llegamos. Luego fuimos a pedir comida, pedimos 3 desayunos completos y nos dijeron que habría una espera de 15-20 minutos, que estaba bien porque teníamos bebidas ¿40 minutos después llegó nuestra comida faltaban varios artículos y todos estaban fríos? A un miembro del personal le costó creer que estuvieran fríos, pero tomo un trozo de tocino frío que aceptó. Quitó los 3 platos y los trajo de vuelta 10 minutos después los platos estaban tan calientes que los huevos estaban pegados al plato y eran sólidos como una frita preguntamos por los tomates y hongos que faltaban pero nunca llegaron

Nos encontramos con esta casa de té después de hacer un giro equivocado en la calle. Encantado de que lo hicimos. fue una experiencia encantadora. El té alto estaba delicioso. Barker Tea House sería un buen argumento para mudarse a Gales.

Es un lugar encantador, y se siente como París pero edición Cardiff. Vine por el té de la tarde, pero en ese momento, la cocina estaba cerrada. Pregunté por otros lugares donde pudiera disfrutar del té de la tarde. Él era muy servicial. Pero como de costumbre, el té de la tarde se debe reservar con antelación, regresé al salón de té Barkers y reservé gluten - experiencia de té de la tarde gratis con ellos. Por tan solo 30 libras tengo un bonito puesto de té de la tarde: 3 tipos de sándwiches, deliciosos bollos afrutados y postres a base de chocolate de buen aspecto (esa es mi taza de té). Como las porciones de sándwiches y postres eran grandes, me tomé el tiempo para disfrutar. No había sentido prisa por parte de los miembros. Eran atentos y amables, incluso un salón de té se puso muy ocupado. No pude terminar todos los postres, así que pedí una caja para llevar. Recomendó este lugar a un familiar para visitar este lugar durante su visita a Cardiff.

Very nice place afternoon teas etc

Great place for afternoon tea. We walked into this lovely cafe in a cold weekend afternoon. The scones were to all the points of texture, taste and temperature.

Siempre visite estos salones de té cuando viajamos a Cardiff desde Gales del Norte para ver a nuestro hijo. Es un lugar lleno de carácter anticuado. Nunca nos hemos decepcionado con nuestras opciones, por lo general aguacate aplastado en tostadas con huevo escalfado y café. Fabulous tea house and cafe within one of Cardiff’s beautiful arcades. The architecture and decor suit the arcade setting perfectly. The staff are lovely and the food is delicious and also substantial for the price. Recommend and will return.

Stopped in for a quick drink, the hot chocolate was delicious and the staff are so friendly and can’t do enough for you. Highly recommend popping in, it’s usually a little quieter because it’s off the high street and the decor inside is gorgeous!!!

I have been trying to book a table here for a suprise afternoon tea for a 60th birthday. Also wanting to do a surprise for a friend to arrive who hasn't seen the birthday girl for a few years. I have called various times of day and it just rings and rings with no answer each time. I am trying to arrange people to be there but without a way to confirm I will now change he venue entirely. You've lost our custom sadly. There is no option to email or book table online. You have missed out on this occasion and we will take our custom elsewhere.

I’m hoping to move to Cardiff later this year so have been exploring the city for my favourite spots, and this is definitely one of them! Bakers is so beautifully decorated and the vibe in there is amazing. There is so much to choose from food wise and it all looks delicious, from homemade cakes to pancakes, breakfast items and afternoon tea. The staff are so wonderful, super attentive and friendly and clearly passionate about what they do. I can’t wait to go back and try more from the menu, thank you for a wonderful experience!

Salió a almorzar liviano fuera del frío y la humedad. Excelente comida y servicio con un ambiente encantador.

Waste of money. Baileys hot chocolate was not good, not hot at all and way too sweet, overdone with cream and marshmallows - we were gutted as the place looked nice from outside. Typical case of style over substance.

Beautiful café area, lovely, friendly and welcoming staff! For how busy it was, the service was fantastic, especially when it came to the speed of the order coming. We order both of the pancake stacks and the presentation was pristine and tasted even better!! And the drinks are very good value and tasty! Would highly recommend!

Looking at the previous reviews, we must have gone on a bad day. The counter staff were friendly and helpful, though a little slow. However, I ordered the smashed avocado and like a previous review the egg was very hard. Then we had two more people join us, who both ordered food. When this came out the server was looking for the table who ordered (there are table numbers, which you have to say when ordering food). When she finally brought the food over to the table, her comment was "at last" before dumping both plates (almost throwing them) onto the table and walking off. When I say she dumped them on the table, that is exactly what she did, not even placing them in front of the customers who had ordered the food. Will definitely not be returning to the tearoom again.

Aunque un entorno bastante arcade no nos impresionó con la comida servida aquí. No hay manera de que un sándwich relleno de salmón ahumado, raspado de queso crema que podría verse servido en un tazón de perro vale £ 14. 95 . Sí, es pan de puerta, pero el relleno no justificaba tanto pan. Esperábamos algún tipo de guarnición y que pareciera presentable, no solo arrojada en algún tipo de recipiente. El bocadillo de atún y mayo no fue mucho mejor. Era sobre el tomate y mayo. Todavía buscando el atún. De nuevo no vale £ 10. Parecía que tenía personal, pero todavía no hay excusa. MUY decepcionante

Almorcé aquí con amigos. Nos sentamos afuera en la hermosa arcada. Hacía un poco de frío, pero esto se había pensado ya que había calentadores y alfombras pegadas a cada silla. V considerado. La comida y el café eran deliciosos. Fue un paso atrás en el tiempo cuando los salones de té fueron la primera rabia. Me encantó.

A rare visit to Cardiff this week and we were looking for somewhere 'a cut above' to have brunch. Stumbled on this delightful Tea Room by accident and, as it was busy and buzzing, thought we'd give it a try. Sat in two lovely winged armchairs in a very cosy setting - it was bitterly cold outside! Ordered a Cumberland Sausage and Egg Sandwich and a Tuna Mayo Sandwich plus two slices of cake. Coffee was piping hot and delicious. The sandwiches were a delight - thick hand-cut granary bread with masses of tasty filling. Cakes were just as good. Well worth a visit when you are in Cardiff Thanks to all at Barkers!

A very quirky cafe in Queens Arcade with a pleasant ambience and friendly helpful staff. We had a huge quantity of delicious tomato soup served in a saucepan with copious amounts of fresh bread and butter. Perfect on a cold November day!

Es un ambiente encantador en el interior. Fui con un amigo para ponerme al día y estudiar y la música era lo suficientemente tranquila como para ponerla por mi cuenta. Conseguí un café con leche que era muy agradable, decidí no tomar el té ya que es un poco caro y soy estudiante. Las únicas desventajas eran que el personal no era tan amable y era un poco caro.

Popular Tea House in an arcade with outdoor and indoor seats. Prices on the high side co sidering you have to queue to order. Hot food took more than 30 mins but was warned in advance. Taste is decent. Nice atmosphere.

A very nice establishment. Sizeable and comfortable seating area. The tea is quite good. One of the better tea houses we've been to in the world.

Precioso lugar hermoso en el centro de Cardiff, sin embargo, vine a tomar un café y era muy caro por el servicio y el producto que recibí. El café salió frío ni siquiera ligeramente caliente. El servicio era deficiente. La chica detrás del mostrador estaba masticando su goma de mascar desagradablemente y estaba muy fría cuando lo pedí. A beautiful cafe in a very pleasant arcade. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was high quality and filling. We shared an afternoon tea, which was plenty for two of us. The extensive choice of tea was slightly bewildering, but the man serving us was very helpful in helping me choose. All in all, a very nice experience and I'd happily return next time I'm in Cardiff.

Lovely boutique-style coffee shop. Ordered the smashed avocado on toast with egg and it was lovely but the egg was hard. Asked for an extra egg and it came hard as well. Coffee and tea were both really nice. Every server that attended to us looked surprised all the time, as if they were new? Lovely bathroom - really clean and cute decor.

Love this place. Service was excellent and food lovely. Please go and try out the atmosphere

Great atmosphere, feels like being at grandma’s house! I was taken aback by the prices, £14 for a serving of pancakes that arrived covered with some wilted edible flowers…

Beautiful food and totally amazing customer service!!! The lady who cleared our table went above and beyond when asked about the tea. New tea tried today (cherry and almond rooibos) and the lady even told me where to buy and gave me some to take away!!!! I am defo coming back. Oh and good food too, portion sizes were perfect and very tasty

Decidedly average. When you break it down, £10 for a sausage and egg sandwich. 1.5 sausages and a egg? It took an hour to get to us, and two big door steps of bread. Tasty, but all bread and no substance. Felt let down

I required a gluten free afternoon tea and the staff provided me with a lovely selection. The venue has a great nostalgic feel. The staff are very accommodating and helpful. Slight miscommunication, but that was as much my error as theirs. When I booked I explained that I was gluten free but that my daughter wasn't. I assumed we would get half and half gf and ordinary but everything was gf. This was fine for me but not so good for my daughter. The staff member who served us offered to make her some ordinary sandwiches but she didn't like to cause a fuss at that point. We both enjoyed the breakfast tea. We had the whole of the upstairs to ourselves which felt quite special too. I will definately go again and I would recommend to others as a great place to go with good quality food and helpful friendly staff.

Great afternoon tea in Cardiff. I found everything on our plates to be delicious and the gentleman working the till was so sweet and helpful to help us re-arrange places to fit a stroller. Lovely place 🤩

Ambience was beautiful. Waitstaff was fine, but not welcoming. Brownies and caramel tea were fantastic, but the scones were too dry.

We used to love this little spot. Prices have skyrocketed and the service has decreased. Still if you are visiting the city for the first time it's worth a visit.

Cosy place for brunch and afternoon tea. The staff were helpful. Eggs & mayo were delicious and big portion. Smashed avocado and eggs was good too. They have indoor and outdoor tables. It could be a stop place for non-locals after visiting the castle which is 2 minutes walk from the tea room

I left very disappointed after my first visit to Barkers and my last. I ordered a Tuna Mayonnaise sandwich served on brown granary bread. It came in a dish rather than on a plate. I thought that was rather strange. No crisps, not even a little bit of salad. The bread was cut like door steps. Hardly any Tuna, no sign of mayonnaise but I did notice a very thin slice of tomato which was a bonus! The sandwich was very dry, bland and impossible to bite. Therefore, I won't be making a return visit and sadly wouldn't recommend Barkers. 🙁

Took the wife for afternoon tea for her birthday. Can't fault it. Good selection of sandwiches, with a variety of cakes, scones and macaroons. The venue is well maintained with a rustic vibe. Well priced and friendly staff 👍🏻 will definitely be going again

Lovely tea room for brunch with friends. Variety choice of loose leaf tea for your selection. It impressed me they offered 3 different water (pure tap water, water with berries and water with lemon)for you to choose. But lack of choice on cake and pastry. My walnuts cake is yummy, and my friend ordered eggs royale and she loves it. Two storey setting with outdoor seat, you need to find the table on your own and you need to order the food and drink in counter and help yourself.

Loved everything about this place. Perfect for what I needed, best eggs Benedict I've ever had, lovely atmosphere and nice range of options. Definitely will be going back for the afternoon tea.

I would like to thank, James the manager, for sending me my wallet to my home address! following an afternoon meeting I had there a few weeks ago I had lost my wallet unexpectedly. I had struggled to remember where I had lost or used it last. Everything was in there safe and returned to me in the post. Also, highly recommended for tea and coffee and snacks, as well... it was the second visit and will be back! Thanks you James 👏👍🎉❤️

A very nice place located in the center of Cardiff, they serve food and drinks. the outside and the inside are very nicely done. We enjoyed the afternoon tea plus the varieties of teas we had to choose from. The food and service was excellent.

If I could give this place more than 5 stars I would! The atmosphere was amazing, the manager couldn't do enough for us and wore himself out running up and down the stairs to make sure we had everything we needed. We loved the Victorian decor and the standard of the food was first class

This is my go to café when visiting Cardiff, lovely food and coffee, friendly staff and a great ambience. Stunning Vintage decor based in the castle arcade,. Great choices if your gluten free too

Updated: Still coming here, I really enjoy it, although, annoyingly sometimes the upstairs isn't open so there isn't always a place to sit. Also, a weird one, but with the bacon and egg sandwich & the sausage and egg sandwich, there could be another egg, I usually have to split it up so that there is egg in both sides? Love it in here! Always lovely, staff are amazing, it is table service food, however, it is usually filled up with customers and they don't accept bookings, so be prepared to sit in the outdoor table (covered, in the arcade) and wait for a table to free up.

We discovered Barkers on a trip to Cardiff a few months, we love the chilled atmosphere and choice of food and drinks the service is always brilliant and friendly too

Prompt and courteous service. Relaxed, comfortable atmosphere in historic Cardiff arcade. Only criticism is that payment is by card only. I perhaps wrongly understood that cash was still legal tender in UK.

Interior was very well decorated but the food was dramatically underwhelming, I had the avocado and eggs on toast , I was served a well presented dish but the quality of it was no where near the aesthetic of it , my toast was just slightly warm bread , the avocado was too salty , and the egg was overdone, as for the coffee I had bordered a cappuccino , that turned being half a cup of coffee with a massive head of froth that wasn’t even warm enough to dissolve my sugar, my partners eggs royale was also overdone with cold bread , and the hot chocolate was more like warm milk Very disappointed considering the cost of the food and drink

The wonderful mornings in the really nice and atmospheric tea room were the best thing about my two-day trip in Cardiff. Warm staff and lovely interior. The drinks are top class and the food is absolutely great for the price

"Last weekend, my husband and I visited here. We ordered a cup of rose black tea and a coffee with a tea cake. They were good. One disappointing thing is that they were out of Welsh cakes.

This is our second visit to Barkers this year and it’s becoming our go to place, when visiting Cardiff. The food, service and atmosphere are all excellent. If you are in Cardiff I can strongly recommend for brunch or afternoon tea. Thank you to you all for putting a little magic to our visits!

Stopped in for afternoon tea with my daughter while on vacation. This was on a recommendation from the front desk at The Angel Hotel. We very much enjoyed the atmosphere and the woman at the front was very kind and helpful. The Carmel Black Tea was so good!!!! The only tiny fault was the cake was a bit dry. Not bad at all but, noticeable. Sandwiches were wonderful. If ever back in Cardiff, I'll stop in again. Price seemed very fair as well.

I was in Cardiff for a book signing. Having travelled from Pembrokeshire I was looking forward to a light lunch at an independent business. I went inside and it wasn’t terribly organised. There was no front of house person; I saw people taking orders behind a bar but couldn’t see a menu. Turned out they are on a wall facing AWAY from the door. Placed my order only to be presented with a card machine. However, I’ve lost my bank card and am awaiting a replacement. This meant I only had cash on me. So I had to leave when they stated that they only accept card payments. I feel this is not very inclusive, especially to those on a limited budget who rely upon cash to avoid getting into debt. I wouldn’t recommend, sadly.

I loved everything about this place, food, coffee and the look of the place. Staff were wonderfully welcoming and helpful. The sandwich was big enough to feed a family. Loads of cheese, ham and pickle. Excellent place.
