The Hazelwell in Birmingham

This spot is amazing for a cup of tea/coffee with companions and coworkers. Staff is really friendly and the pub itself creates a friendly atmosphere.

Hazelwell is my local always feel welcome when I walk In having a chat with staff. Sam is a champ props 👏 recommend highly

Everytime I eat from the hazelwell the chef gets blamed for the wrong food being presented, wrongly cooked, under cooked or over cooked and also the timing of the food being bought to the table. Seems to always be an excuse and if it wasn’t a local pub I genuinely wouldn’t bother for food. I think I come for sheer entertainment rather than quality food nowadays.

Went for lunch with a group of about 15 over 50s people. Good pub food available. Had tomato & basil soup, scampi, chips and peas, followed by apple crumble and custard. No complaints at all. The staff were very efficient and friendly. Will be going again.

Pub is OK. Guinness not bad and cheaper than most 'hostelries' (Wetherspoons aside). Sorry if this next bit is a little delicate but I can't understand why so many male punters use and then leave the toilets in this pub without washing their hands. Sinks, taps, running water, soap and hand dryer are all provided so there is no excuse for this unhygienic, anti-social behaviour...

Ordered a hunters chicken and was shocked by the generous portion size for the price and the taste of said hunters chicken was so superb I really enjoyed my meal!

Lunchtime family meal today, we reserved a table for 6 adults and a 5 yr old boy. Service was excellent, very amiable staff, our table was easily accessible and on its own, so private. Served to drinks at the bar on entry, good choice and drinks were cold and tasty, barmaid was helpful and friendly. Meals were ordered and paid for on the app from our table and service was very good, 2 of us had steaks so there was a short wait, but this is expected. All the meals arrived at the same time so no waiting round and the food was well cooked and well presented, the servers were very obliging too. Everyone in our group finished their plate and were complimentary about the food, ranging from steaks to scampi, kids meal and vegan ribs. A great time and I'm sure we will be returning in the future. Many thanks. Damn, I forgot my free drink.

Cracking night once again at The Hazelwell. TV in every area of this place for the footie. Service was excellent and prompt by Kelly and Chloe. Great menu, great prices. Highly recommend this place.

Visited here a few times now and not once have I been let down on anything. From the moment you walk in to the moment you walk out the staff are friendly and from all the staff I’ve met they are all lovely and nothing is too much trouble. Everything is clean and tidy. I must say the locals/regulars again are very welcoming and helpful, one even giving me a voucher towards our meal. Well done to you and all your team and will definitely be seeing you soon.

The food is quite good taste wise, the service is slow but the staff are nice. The atmosphere is usually fine. No problem dealing with children either, before 9pm.

A wide choice of dishes on the menu, some very good value like 2 meals for £11. Service was slow, but I believe it was due to short staffing. On the whole, a good place to meet friends for a meal and drinks.

Visited here with my two children, was greeted upon entrance and again experienced a welcoming response when ordering drinks, customer service by sue and Kelly was impeccable. Sue got my daughter extra sauce upon her request and interacted with her beautifully. The food was very generous in portion for the price and we all enjoyed our meals. Will definitely visit again!

We had a fabulous family meal here, 9 0f us, the staff was very friendly, checking we had everything we needed, kelly & sue was so helpful, we will definitely be coming back here for food & also just for a drink.

Me and my partner visited here a few weeks ago. We were welcomed by a lady, Sammy. She was very helpful, engaging and even took time out to acknowledge the children, which most businesses don't! Her customer service was exceptional to say the least. We will definitely be visiting again, next time with even more family. I hope we get the same greeting as before. Overall it was a fantastic experience, great food and brilliant atmosphere. Thanks Sammy for your amazing customer services, you went above and beyond for us.

I visited The Hazelwell a couple of a weeks ago, and was served by a member of staff by the name of Sammy… she was an absolute delight, such a lovely, warm and welcoming lady, couldn’t do enough for us. She is the reason our experience here was 100/100! Her customer service was exceptional unlike no other I have ever experienced when visiting Sizzler pubs. She is the main reason why we will definitely be visiting again, and have recommended the pub to friends and family. The food was also good, but when it comes with such amazing service from a member of staff, it’s makes your visit all the more enjoyable. Sammy definitely deserve praise from management, as she is certainly an asset to that team. :)

I visited the Hazelwell and was served and greeted by a lovely bar person namely Sam (lady) she was both pleasant and courteous. I was served with a smile in a timely manor. The Beer is great with an excellent choice on-hand. I had a nice steak which was cooked to perfection! All in all 5/5 top marks!

Always a great night with decent prices on drinks £2.50 on Monday cheaper than weatherspoons shout out to Kelly and sammy who are always smiling.

First visit in years, popular Monday club for cheaper beer. Food was about average but decent prices. No heating on made it most uncomfortable.

We visited The Hazelwell Sunday evening for our first ever visit and we will definitely be returning. We was served our drinks by Kelly who then went on to take our food order and served us our meal once ready which wasn’t long at all. The whole experience was fully enjoyable and the menu is great. Well done all and special thanks to Kelly for a lovely evening.

i came to the pub with my children for dinner we have been coming here for years, after receiving salad on a previous visit with green flies stuck to my lettuce i knew i shouldn’t of bothered eating here again the chef needs reviewing, any way my son had a chicken burger and i asked for it plain just chicken when it came out it had sauce on it so i politely ask for it to be changed after waiting about 20 mins the burger came back out and the manager and chef refused to change it the chef came out the kitchen frowning at me when i asked him why it was a problem to change it he started to get cocky which then escalated to his cousin who irks behind the bar to join in and also be rude so it got heated then the manager nic comes out who is also the chef’s girlfriend and she also was rude telling me to eat somewhere else and i’m barred, it was a simple thing that the staff cocked up on and none of them had any customer skills to correct there problem they just ganged up on me in front of my children there a joke the chef is crap but don’t get sacked cause his relationship with the manager no hygiene i won’t be going there again. my son has allergies and they didn’t care they acted so bad never experienced something like it before

Unfortunately this place is under new management and it is very poor! There was human waste up the walls in the toilet. The Coors lager was like vinegar (dirty lines) the other lagers were flat. So the cellar was clearly unattended all day. Under staffed and food quality was very poor

We had a 13th birthday party. We had a fabulous time. The management and staff were so helpful,couldn't do enough for us. great night had by all. The buffet was very good.worth a thought if you are looking for a local venue.

Ordered food at 4 minutes to 8pm (kitchen closes at 8pm) took order at the till but the cook refused to cook my order. I am a regular guest and am very disappointed.

Absolutely disgusting kitchen staff don’t know how to put something out of stock so I ordered a side of mac and cheese £2.99 to find out 10-15 mins later they don’t have it to then ask for garlic bread £1.99 didn’t get the difference back then when my food come out it looked like a kids meal on an adult menu absolute joke I’m a regular here for food and the food quantity has dipped dramatically

Update 3rd December 2023: Ordered the kids cheeseburger. Came without cheese or salad. Bun was rock hard. After suggesting to the staff that the kitchen should throw away the stale buns, the table next to us complained about the stale bun on their kids burger. How did they fix it? Instead of getting a fresh bun, the kitchen toasted the existing bun. Probably just a busy kitchen due to the festive period but stock control should be better. Wife's said her salmon was good. My Chilli Dawn was pretty good. Nice to see a proper bratwurst! ........................... We've been to the Hazelwell late last year and really enjoyed the food. We decided to try recently and once again, thoroughly enjoyed it. The staff were all friendly and kept us updated on our orders. Our two young boys (5 & 3) were pleasantly entertained by the crayons and playmats they were given. I'll confess, I think I preferred the menu options last time to the current lineup, however, the food was still good. I enjoyed my fish and chips and my wife really liked her sizzling prawns. We will certainly be going again soon.

Recently been in after a while , heard there was a new manager , I just want to say wow , they really have turned the place around , we ordered food and it was amazing asked who was in the kitchen and was told someone called James , big compliments to him and the management , the staff were great apart from a short girl behind the bar with short hair , carla or something like that was miserable and didn’t come across very friendly other than that , great spot , and once again congrats to the management .

Arrived 6.30pm after pre booking. They did not reserve table for us. After 1 hour of waiting for meal, we were told we could wait or get money back, we decided to wait and ordered more drinks via app. The drinks never came, after about 25 minutes we went to bar and had to ask them about drinks. We were told someone put receipt in till and forgot to fulfil order. After about another hour we were told again we could.wait or get a refund for meal. We requested to know how much longer we would have to wait. After what seemed like ages we were told we were unlikely to get our food order. We were told we will get a refund and eventually were told we will get a refund also for our last round of drinks order. By this time it was 10.30pm and our night was spoiled. It was our first time in Pub and probably will be our last.

Went for lunch tday with my teenage son he has needs an so can will only eat sausage chips an beans otherwise we can't eat out this isn't on the menu so I asked bar staff if I could make an amendment to the adult meal the friendly member of staff went and asked the kitchen they agreed it was ok I also ordered the lasagne The lasagne came out clearly microwaved as it had over split over the dish the pasta lasagne was hard My sons meal came with a small portion of beans that was for a child meal I asked the bar staff if I could have some more beans as I'd paid £6.49 for sausage chips beans they said they ask the kitchen After asking bar Staff 3 times my sons food was cold at this point kitchen staff said no i have to pay for another portion of beans (I now know the kitchen staff are are new management) after about about 5 mins a lady came out of the kitchen looked across rolled her eyes at me an walked away bar staff seem very frustrated This pub is within walking distance from our home but won't be going there again As I find this was a rude response to a simple question that could of been resolved better

The bar staff are very polite friendly an happy to help However after ordering food I ordered the lasagne it came out over microwaved with it obviously over spilled the serving dish it was in the lasagne sheets were then hard due to it being over microwaved I order an adult meal for my 14 yr old son asked for his meal to be adapted as he has needs an therefore will only eat sausage chips an beans otherwise we don't get to eat out staff asked the kitchen and they agreed that was fine When his meal came out it came with the tiniest portion of beans fit for a child meal I returned to the bar to ask for some more as iv paid £6.49 for this adult meal to get a child size portion Bar staff explained to the kitchen after asking staff 3 times for the portion of beans whilst my sons meal was going cold the kitchen staff (new manager) I now believe told them to tell me I had to pay for the extra portion My sons meal was cold at this point Then 5 minutes later another member of staff came out of the kitchen looked across at our table rolled her eyes an walked on staff which I now know as new manager this pub is within walking distance to our home we visited at lunchtime so it a quiter time of day We won't be returning for food again

Been a couple of times now every time there has been drug addicts in the pub selling knock of gear with the staff just watching. I was rudely abused and threatened by one of these degenerates selling knock of gear the service is awful the food is awful the toilets are awful this pub needs closing down asap

Very unprofessional and rude when I told them about my nut allergy. The woman rolled her eyes as I informed her I was allergic to nut. Also 2 women staff was arguing behind the bar. Very slow service but the pub was not busy.I will not be returning as staff made me feel uncomfortable

This place has gone down hill went there tonight and some of the staff just walked past us when we are waiting at the bar and the lady called ann was working her socks off this place has changed so much and its not for the better it really needs sorting the only friendly staff behind the bar now are sue,ann,Lynn, the way this pub is going it will be shutting down soon come on get it sorted this pub used to have such a friendly atmosphere

First timer here and I definitely will be going again, sizzling steak with mushrooms, onion rings etc chips and creamy peppercorn sauce. Walking into the pub I felt a little uneasy but by the time we reached the bar (3-4 steps) we were made to feel welcome by the man at the bar. Bar staff were courteous and couldn't do enough for us.

Booked a table with my 9 year old Son for a Groupon voucher meal - 2 starters & 2 skillets. The lady behind the bar was lovely and very friendly. Really helpful and couldn't do enough for us. This was our 1st visit to The Hazelwell and we will be back 100%. Both our chicken wing starters and sizzling steak meals were lovely. My Son asked if we can go back again soon for a burger and Appletizer ... he was over the moon when he saw his favourite drink stocked 👍😊

The times I’ve been to The Hazelwell the atmosphere felt very comfortable It was busy yet relaxed The food was great not one missing item and I wouldn’t have changed anything It’s great for going out with your mates but also just going with family

The place was Ok, but I felt uncomfortable with some of the clientele (dodgy looking). The food was normal, but great for the price. It was generally OK.

Walked in and didn’t feel like a place you eat in, felt like an old British man pub. Place didnt feel friendly or look in best shape. Walked and was told if you’re here for food then no point as cook gone home sick. As we waited outside to decide where to go for food we was approached by someone who came out from the pub asking if we’re interested in knock off gear.

Service terrible .asked for medium sweet wine was given dry .so had to go back .got food order wrong .chicken tikka was watery .20kids meals ordered which comes with ice cream .waited 15 mins for ice cream after they ate there dinner .after waiting I asked were there ice cream was .I was told it wasn't on the order .even though kids meal comes with pudding anyway .it was my daughter's birthday aswell total disaster she wasn't happy

If I could give it 0 stars I would have,the attitude of staff and the food wait times concerning how we waited over 1 hour and we saw the first to order,upon telling staff there was no mangers on shift and when confronted by the staff we just got lied to and rude comments will never return to this place if I got paid!!

Booked a nice family meal for 8, arrived they said there was a 45 minute wait on food that was fine, we had drinks whilst waiting. 2 hours later no food so we asked what was going on, the first lot of dishes came out, food cold steak not cooked how asked, missing items. Sat waiting for the other dishes to come out around half hour later another dish arrived, still waiting on three more. Another half hour passes the bar tender come to ask if we were waiting for any more, which we said yes another three meals, he goes to follow it up to then come back and say they never had the ticket in the kitchen, then asked would we like a refund after sitting there for over three hours, this point I'm angry, hungry fed up my child still waiting for food also, our food arrived after 9.30pm after arriving there for 6pm! Appalling customer service, first and last time we will try this pub again!!!!

We are waiting for our food for 1.5 hour already. With 3 hungry teenagers. Don't recommend.
