Met with friends for our monthly breakfast club. The place was buzzing at 10.30 on this beautiful Autumn morning. Plenty of parking in this exclusive 4 Oaks area of Sutton Coldfield. Fortunately we booked a table. The menu was spot on and I had the breakfast wrap. Unusually they don't do scrambled eggs which was a surprise for my colleague. The service was prompt, friendly and efficient. The food was great as were the drinks. The Bistro is just a couple of minutes walk to one of the picturesque lakes.

My Husband and I often go to the Blackroot Bistro for Lunch, after we have been swimming at Wyndley. The menu is varied and it is always a pleasure to eat there and is generally quite busy with many Dog walkers meeting there. I would recommend it to anybody, as we have never had a bad experience.

The Bistro is in Sutton Park by Blackroot? Lake. It's very popular with dog walkers who are able to sit outside (approx 10-15 tables) inside is quite small with one service area. We had coffee (excellent) and Cherry Bakewell (dry unfortunately 😕!) Atmosphere is good with nice views either down to the Lake or across open fields.

This place has lost the run of itself. The menu is overpriced. The presentation is woeful. It has an amazing setting and a captive audience and it knows it. Previous owners had a far better menu, more attention to detail and better quality food. Have stopped eating here due to the disappointing food and the prices.

Was asked to leave when it was raining outside as I had a pushchair with me. Had to walk through the park in the rain so I could feed my 6 month old in my car. Obviously, during to the rain, it was not suitable to sit outside. I was told I could stay if the pushchair could be taken apart as they didn't want the wheels inside.

Had no ice on a warm day which is completely understandable. I never write reviews, like this is probably the second time in my life I’ve written a Google review. So you know it had to have been bad. Always do a long walk around Sutton park and never stop at Bistro… fancied a coffee so went in. But I will never be coming here again just because of the customer service. I’ve worked as a barista, in cafes, as cabin crew, I’ve worked in business, first class, bars, restaurants, every customer service setting possible really and the service recovery was utterly terrible. I’m not asking for you to put a napkin on my lap and call me ‘mam, but a little more respect for customers. I was standing waiting to be served waiting for the girl to finish a conversation, which is whatever. But didn’t call me over to be served but glanced at me not saying a thing. Just looked at me vacantly with a sour face. I say hello in polite manner which wasn’t really reciprocated. Then after being told there’s no ice, she could tell I’m disappointed but looks at me with some ‘mean girl’ look smirking and says nothing. Obviously it’s not the end of the world, I know that, but I felt so small by the way she was looking at me. Doesn’t offer me an alternative which I probably would have taken her up on, but didn’t like her attitude so wasn’t going to bother in the end. Just so rude and childish. Please have words as I’ll be sharing my experience with people I know :))

Took my son for a breakfast at Blackroot Bistro yesterday morning after a lovely walk round Sutton park. We sat outside as it was sunny but unfortunately there are dogs running round peoples tables off lead and no owners around to control them. One dog kept approaching my son whilst he was eating and as he is only 3 he said he was scared. My husband asked around ‘who’s dog is this?’ nobody answered and instead majority of the customers at the cafe ganged up on us and told us that the dog was friendly and don’t see what the problem is. Whilst we tried to finish our drinks and breakfast they were all tutting and whispering about us. It’s a shame that you’re made to feel like a bad person if you don’t want a dog constantly approaching your young child while he wants to eat his food. As it is a bistro/cafe I feel that dogs should be kept on lead or sat at their tables with their owner.

We love the setting but the food was a great disappointment. My wife had the soup of the day- roasted red pepper and tomato. This looked and smelled great but was grossly over seasoned. Too salty by half. I had the tuna sandwich, which also looked great on the plate. However, the granary bread was tired and had long given up any aspiration to freshness. The chips were cold and limp- even our labrador was not complimentary about them!

Very disappointing breakfast. Do not recommend smash avocado. I would recommend them taking it off the menu. What was served was a complete disrespect to the dish. The avocados were not smashed they were the consistency of puree. The eggs were fried, and the dressing of pomegrante, whilst on a well presented dish, would have been most delicious and appealing. Looked ridiculously misplaced. The biggest disappointment was the bread. Smashed avocados with eggs needs a good sourdough bread. I will take my £23 elsewhere in the future.

Very Dissapointing This place used to be so good with Artisan style food but our breakfast was a spoilt slop of spoilt dish. We had Avacado on toast with eggs But ended up with sloppy Avacado that tasted like the cheap ready smashed avacado out if a tub NOT fresh chunky Avacado and can only served with Fried eggs that were overcooked and could taste the fat they had been fried in. SURELY they should offer Poached eggs like most good eateries. This reminded me of a Transport Cafes effort to try and serve a classy dish - very very poor and deffo will not be going there again for breakfast on my daily Sutton Park dog walks. The food used to be sooo good what a shame - If the management read this please make you food better to match your prices..

Generally good. The 'full english' (£9) isnt full at all...by that I dont mean that there is a poor selection on the plate. It had one sausage and one slice of bacon for £9 (see photo - can you find the good stuff??), so it's was a let down. ** For clarity, given the cafe response below, the tasty and more expensive items e.g. bacon, sausage that people tend to like on a full english were sacrificed for cheaper items. I would probably order 'beans on toast with fried egg and hash brown' otherwise but not pay £9. Kind of the point? Other dishes are good...avo smash with egg was a hit.

Thankfully we had finished our lunch but there was another couple who were still eating! A second couple came in 5 minutes later and had to lift a chair off the table in order to sit down. I’ve been to the white swan a few times but never felt compelled to write a review but after the customer service we received from Sandro I just had to. The food has always been of real high quality but that combined with Sandros service just made it a really enjoyable evening. He went above and beyond for us all and really made everyone laugh. We all mentioned him on our way home. 10/10
