Aston Wood Golf Club in Birmingham

I used Aston Woods to hold my Wife’s wake and can I just say thank you so much. It was a large funeral approx 200 people. We were given the Fotherly suite at the back of the clubhouses overlooking the golf course.(it also has a very large patio area outside and fortunately the weather gods were on our side)the buffet was excellent and so were the staff.Finally a massive thank you to the management team of Lucy and John they were superb from start to finish nothing was too much trouble.Thank you Aston Woods for making a sad day so beautiful I would recommend this place to anyone

We get to work at a lot of Golf Clubs, at a recent wedding we found the staff @ Aston Wood Golf Club, very polite & helpful, the drinks were well priced, easy access and loads of parking first rate keep up the good work guys

Well planned course, well worth playing, great Club House. Certainly need to plan your shots!

Beautiful venue and fantastic all round

I attended Aston Wood for a wedding, the venue is really nice and staff are all lovely. An excellent venue for a wedding.

We had a wedding party here and it was generally fine and us and guests had a nice night but some things were not up to standard. The cake was served with nothing to plate up with, and no plates to eat it on. A guest had to go and ask a staff member for at least some napkins to eat it on and pick it up with. We also brought special cake for a few people with dietary requirements to ensure they had a option, we gave instructions to serve this separately so they could find it. This wasn't done and it was just put on the same trays with all the other cake. Those guests went without dessert due to this and our money was wasted as we may as well not brought those extra cakes. Similar for the sweet cart we had, we were told they would supply everything we needed so no need to bring anything (other than the sweets). Again nothing for people to take them out the bowls with and nothing for them to take them away with, like a bag or plate. Guests just had to use their hands, fine for a kids party but not really what I'd expected for a wedding party. They did put all the sweets in the bowls for us so that was nice not to have to do. I was told we could have a specific food option for myself (fish) this wasn't supplied. We were also told their would be gluten free buns for the burgers available for the few who needed them. I couldn't see these and when I spoke to the guests who needed them they said they didn't have any and just had the burger with no bun. We supplied our own welcome drinks but had no staff support with making them. Myself (the bride) spent 2 hours at the drinks station mixing drinks, getting extra glasses from the bar, finding ice etc while also trying to greet guests. Many guests commented on how poor this was, to not have a member of staff on hand to help ensure the glasses and ice were topped up at least. There were a few guests who were thinking of booking the venue for parties, that I believe have looked elsewhere due to these fixable issues. The staff were nice to deal with and the venue is lovely, there's just things they need to get right to make it better. I did think maybe we just had a bad night or something so we emailed after our event to highlight these issues. We we're first ignored, so we chased it up and were just told to enjoy our lives together as a married couple. There was no apology or explanation on why these simple things weren't done, so maybe it is standard practice. It's unfortunate as those little things wouldn't have been missed at other venues we viewed for the same cost.

Absolutely love this place. I can’t review the course yet but the grounds are clean tidy and well kept. I have used the range many times which is fairly priced and has the Toptracer technology. The car park next to the range is for staff only so use the main car park and walk past the club house until you get to the pro shop.

The golf course is excellent and a great atmosphere is created by the members. I’ve played a lot of different courses this year and this is my new favourite.

Have breakfast here on a regular basis. Very good value and a nice place to visit with views on to the golf course and free parking.

Lovely location, staff are friendly and attentive

Service bad, went for a lunch. Only three things to eat, had a burger wich was nice, didn’t eat all of it and wanted to take away but was refused for some reason. Bar man looked like a greenkeeper not a front of the house person.

Had a fabulous evening at our friends wedding reception, staff were friendly and provided excellent service. Room was lovely with a fabulous party atmosphere and DJ was great played good music to keep us all dancing and food was amazing a hog roast, carved up and served on baps, delicous. Grounds where the very beautiful.

My husband and I had our wedding here 2wks ago and couldn't fault anything other than the day went by so quickly. Lucy and the team were absolutely fantastic, nothing was too much for them to do. Food was lovely, the in-house DJ was great. All the guests said how lovely everything was

Me and my wife had our wedding day at Aston Wood, and honestly it was perfect. From the service, to the food, to the evening do, everything went absolutely amazingly. A massive thank you to Lucy and the team, who made our day nothing short of magical. Would highly recommend for a wedding day!

Been here many times over a span of 35 years. Always good. It's a perfect place for a party . Easy to get to loads of free parking . Well appointed and always clean. Perfect.

First time playing the course with Tim Wilding really enjoyed some of the more challenging holes would definitely go back and bring a few friends next time

Went to wedding reception here and found it very pleasant clean and the food was great.

Hot food served on cold plates is unacceptable for any hospitality venue.

A really lovely golf course in immaculate condition. Great value too. Only negative, the “members only” signs don’t make visitors feel overly welcome…. Perhaps “members and playing visitors only” would be better. Will definitely play again though.

People was very rude, nasty, I was actually very shocked, the car car park was extremely dangerous and I will be reporting them to the HSE. Still done nothing, all the money this company has and still don't care about their Patton's.

We hired the function room for my mothers funeral wake, the staff were friendly and accommodating throughout. On the day the food was lovely and the venue was everything we had hoped for. Many thanks to all the staff.

We had our works party here on 9th December. It was a really great experience. The setting was lovely, the room was really pretty. The atmosphere was really great, the DJ was great at getting people involved. The food was really great, in the past I have had some awful Christmas dinners at these functions, but I was really impressed, all fresh, hot and tasty. The waitresses were so professional, you hardly knew they were there they were so efficient and the bar staff were all smiling and having fun too, which was really great to see. I shall recommend this venue 100%.

Chose this venue for our annual Christmas party with a group of friends. Unfortunately the party was dominated by football with a large screen in the bar. This meant a lot of people not being in the dining room. serving of food was delayed and erratic, food was really poor, security guard in the room telling people to sit down and the 90”s themed evenings music ended up being like something from Ibiza. Appalling, ruined evening, lacking the Christmas atmosphere, unlikely to re-book in the future or recommend.

First time here and really enjoyed it. Food was really good and friendly staff

Spent the afternoon attending a friends 60th birthday afternoon tea. The food was delicious and well presented. Plenty of tea and coffee available. The staff were really helpful and attentive. Nothing was too much trouble. Thank you to those involved

Lovely facilities and course with friendly staff. The course is not too demanding as it is relatively flat, however it does have some challenging holes and cleverly placed hazards.

Tried to book the venue but unfortunately had to deal with an unfriendly chap who couldn’t care less about securing the booking. I have never dealt with anyone so unprofessional and rude. Clearly they have enough business that they can afford to be rude.

We had our wedding here in April 2022, before our wedding the venue couldn't do enough for us and kept in regular contact when necessary however since we've had our day, they have ignored all emails and it's taken me 2 months and 3 emails to get a response for issues I raised. Rather than opting for a 3 course meal, we selected the bbq option. It was all pre cooked and served inside which was ok but as weather was dry it could of been done outside. Throughout the whole planning process we arranged a bbq for 80+ guests and was never once told that they could either have a burger or a sausage but not both so my guests was refused food which was then taken back to the kitchen and wasted. We was also told tables would be called one by one for their food so each table can sit and eat together however no one took control of this and it was left as a free for all with guests on tables eating at different times. We wasn't offered to go to the water fountain or use of the golf buggy for photos either. The main issue is the lady who dealt with us in the run up to my wedding left the company a week before and since then, it seems no one has a clue what they are doing and neither do they care. Communication has been very poor and so has the attitude. Typical company of take your money and forget about you. Shame because its a stunning venue, just need the right staff running it.

Decent course but just has a little Muni feel. Good value for money though

We had our Wedding Blessing at Aston Wood, Meg and her team were very attentive. The running of the day went very smoothly aswell as the lead up to and after. We are so grateful for everything Meg did for us.

I recently held a baby shower at Aston wood and I am very disappointed with the organisation of the place. With a recent change in events planner there was a lot of miscommunication which spoilt the day for us. We booked for afternoon tea and I was asked to get everyone’s order and send it over in advance however this wasn’t the case and there was a buffet lunch set out, with different food choices and not enough food for the amount of people there. Nothing was on the day that said about people coming to set up for another event so while we were all still there, people starting setting up around us which rushed us to leave and take out all of decorations. None staff said goodbye or acknowledged us leaving. I’m very disappointed for how we were treated especially after the amount of money we had spent there.

Great venue where I attended a wedding anniversary celebration. Friendly staff with a good selection of drinks. Buffet food provided was also nice

Friendly and helpful staff, top facilities for golfers (great driving range and putting greens) and a well-maintained course. Everyone welcome. The course is well maintained and challenging.

Beautiful grounds, the bar could do with a revamp but the view of the golf course is amazing from the outdoor seating area.

Played here on a spur of the moment as the location was around half way between me and my playing partner. From the moment we arrived, our experience was fantastic. Staff in the clubhouse and pro shop were friendly and welcoming. The course was very well kept with quick greens and was a decent challenge for the green fee cost. We ate and drank in the bar and the food we had was excellent - would (and have) definitely recommend it.

It's mediocre at best. People are restricted to areas which I believe should be allowed, and the pricing is outrageous.

The course is in excellent condition, well worth a visit

It has been over 10 years since i have played here and i am pleased to say the course has matured a lot. Drainage has improved greatly apparently. Great greens and some beautiful holes quite a few with water. A decent test of golf . The meal was hot and good quality and the members and staff friendly. I hope to return again.

Good test for all abilities, great facilities and a well stocked pro shop & Friendly staff.

Visited the golf shop to book a lesson with Tim, the resident Pro, who with his wife Angela run the shop. They are a lovely couple and with the other members of staff are always very friendly and helpful. The shop is always well stocked and someone is always available to help if needed. I normally visit their Range which is also very good.

Great course. Will definitely return
