We came for the annual Christmas market, wasn't told on there advertising campaign that there was a £5 charge and found this out on entry , had I have known this I would not have travelled the distance. Shame on you Haycock hotel.

I’m going to leave an honest & detailed review of the hotel as someone who has stayed (at full price) twice and then of the Christmas fayre which I have been part for the last 3 years. I’ve stayed at this hotel twice in the past. It’s on a busy road and the rooms I have had felt like a motel in a wing separate from the main hotel. Rooms are clean and beds are comfortable but nothing special. Although the staff are lovely & friendly the service is slow particularly if they have an event. We had bar food which was ok, overpriced, tiny portions, but ok. Breakfast was nice, food of good quality but service was extremely slow & we felt ignored while they handled a larger group. Not enough serving staff for breakfast time. The breakfast room was incredibly cold. The toilets by the ballroom have smelt unpleasant every time I’ve been to this hotel. If you plan to stay at the hotel make sure you check to see if they have an event on first. Parking is problematic when events are on. I would also expect better facilities for the price - they charge spa prices but all they have is a small gym consisting of a couple of treadmills / cross trainers. ***** The Christmas Fayre. An unadvertised entry fee of £5 to walk around a handful of stalls which discouraged many. It’s just greedy. The stalls were all pushed back from the main walk way in gravel meaning they were not very accessible to wheelchair users. This was unnecessary and just needed a little thought when planning. Atmosphere was non existent and no sign of many things advertised. No ferris wheel, carol singers, no Christmas music, and just a couple of rides - completely misadvertised. If you want to charge people to shop at least give them a mince pie & a coffee. If you have an issue Management are unhelpful and economical with the truth - full of promises which they do not deliver on. If you make any comment on social media which is slightly negative they block you and delete your comments. Bad management who shows little respect for their patrons. Edit: unfortunately I have had recent communication from the management of the hotel which has left me no choice but to downgrade my review further, this is unfortunate as the staff at the hotel are hard working and lovely but I can not ignore the recent conversations with management. If you have a problem do not expect anything other than abuse. Please make sure you read negative reviews for this hotel as you will notice a pattern.

We had been given a voucher for a 3 course lunch. The whole experience was wonderful. The staff were attentive, the room was very pretty. The meal was delicious and presented beautifully. A thoroughly enjoyable Saturday lunch.

Such a shame, we often book rooms and meals. However today went to their Christmas fair as we have done for the past three years. Today being a disabled driver meant nothing. there was no parking set aside. Unhelpful bearded man at entrance. We drive an hour to support our favourite hotel and local businesses to be made to feel very unwelcome, we walked from a parking spot we found at the end of the high street to find out a charge of £5 per person was now inforce, previously it was free. Out of principle and lack of service/respect when we saw a large car park area available we did not enter or pay. We only usually spend a hundred or two, so nothing special, but out of protest our little spend will be saved for retailers that want us. We went to Sandringham Christmas fair yesterday and cost us £12 something for a full day. £5 for half an hour or so was not attractive. Luckily the restaurant opposite called "Thirteen" had a table available for lunch, so our journey was not wasted. We will save the money for Burleigh house Christmas fair next week. What a shame this fantastic hotel and restaurant became so uncaring and unfriendly. I'm really disappointed. Such a shame, we love this place.

This is a review of their 2024 Christmas market and not of the hotel premises…Absolutely appalling behaviour putting on a subpar event not as advertised and not mentioning the £5 entry fee in promotional material then deleting any feedback comments from social media and blocking people who questioned it. Very disappointing and extremely unprofessional.

2024 Christmas Market letdown! £5 entrance per adult but no advertisement of this, had to pay entrance to go the market stalls - stall holders were lovely though. Haycock Manor advertised Christmas carols by a choir - but didn't deliver. Not as many stalls as advertised, was a much better Christmas market in the previous couple of years we've been, today was not festive in our experience. Leaving Google review as other feedback avenues such as social media for example is being sensored, deleted etc. So makes me question their morals and transparency, reviews should be kept if they like them or not unless offensive or against regulations. We will not be returning while this is happening, appauling really.

Nice hotel recently refurbished, so all clean and new but the room in the annexe was a bit small and fittings in the bathroom were a bit poor to be honest. No wall mounted or heated towel rail, just a flimsy one placed on the way on the floor so we had to keep moving it and no bedside or reading lamps so we had to get up to turn the lights on and off. Most of the staff were delightful and one of the receptionists went out of her way to ensure we were happy and had what we needed. Cleaning of room was great. Food was very good. There was a charming model Christmas scene in the lobby which was lovely. Almost excellent but you need a good room in a hotel, that's what you're there for.

I recently stayed at the hotel for two nights to celebrate my sisters wedding. On arrival we met the lovely Rachel (sorry if you spell it a different way!). She went above and beyond with helping us get into the rooms needed for the flowers for the wedding and helped us to the suite. After an evening of excellent drinks and food she helped us with our tv and we ended up having a nice 15 minute conversation about the wedding, love island and holidays. As soon as she left we all mentioned how much we loved her. So thank you very much Rachel for being a friendly face around the hotel and ready to help in anyway possible! - I put the room as 4 stars just because after the wedding I didn’t have a mirror in the bathroom to take my make up off so had to keep going in the bedroom to do my cleanser :)

We went to the Haycock in early June for a celebratory lunch. We didn’t stay over as we are local. We had a fantastic time. From the initial contact right up until we left after lunch, the service was top notch. The people who looked after us on the day were lovely and couldn’t have done more to look after us. The food was excellent too, beautifully presented and tasted fantastic. A big thanks to the chef. Definitely a place to visit and we will go back. Loved it.

Lovely situation near River Nene. Pricey, upmarket aspirations make it seem a bit pretentious for everyday visits but fine for a special occasion

I stayed there with my partner and puppy. DOG FRIENDLY They provided a room with access to their yard, bowls for dog's food and water, and even a dog's bed. They allowed the puppy to be with us for breakfast, lunch, and even 8 course dinner. AMAZING FOOD We had both traditional and continental breakfast. What they had on offer was very tasty. The lunch we had was mind-blowing: I'd never eaten such tasty potato fries with peppercorn sauce and mushroom pasta. The eight course vegan course was worth every single penny - every bite was absolutely enjoyable. GREAT SERVICE The staff, be it cleaners, waiting staff, receptionists, or chefs, was friendly, approachable, calm and cheerful. COMFORTABLE ROOMS The room had a comfy bed, with a table, chairs, a safe place to leave valuable belongings, an iron and ironing board, a hair dryer, the wardrobe and side tables, and the shower was lovely with hair shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, soap, hand cream, robes, and slippers. COUNTRYSIDE The hotel is 20mins away by a taxi from Peterborough station. The hotel is in a little village with a couple of pubs and a little store/post office. Everything else is the countryside. There's a Nene park, a lovely farm nearby, and fields for horses nearby, where you can go with your dog.

One of the best meal ever in the nearby restaurant. The service was inmaculuate the staff thought about our little doggo. We had an extra dog bed and water for her at every meal. The place is far from anything so if you want to look around come with a car.

My son took us here for Christmas Day. Pre ordered and Pre Paid. Service was unremarkable except for one waitress who was great. When I say unremarkable I mean very poor. Pre ordered dinners but they managed to get them wrong. Quality was “at best “ pub food. My son was promised a contact afterwards, never happened. I complained on the website asking for contact no response. I today receive a mailing list email. Oh how the mighty have fallen.

Why only 3*’s?? It’s a conspiracy - and what an absolutely dreadful thing to do! I’ve stayed at this hotel twice now. I don’t hunt and I certainly don’t support hunting. I’ve seen nothing that flags up to me a need for such awful comments. I can’t vouch for what happened 8 years ago if the comments are genuine. However …. When I see how hard the new owner is working to offer such a stunning hotel I can’t understand why I’m seeing only 3 stars? This is a 5* hotel in anybody’s book, with friendly, attentive staff who cannot do enough to help you have a great stay. You don’t come to this type of location to buy a cheap drink - you come for the beautiful, tasteful surroundings, to enjoy a peaceful, relaxing stay and pay for the privilege. The village itself is stunning and you’d genuinely be forgiven for thinking you’re in the Cotswolds. I do not recognise some of these recent comments about ‘disgusting decor!!’ Whoever has a bee in their bonnet, and mounted such a hate campaign - get off your high horse (pun intended) and leave this venue alone. It deserves every success and is working hard in my opinion to achieve that. It’s understandable that the staff might drop the ball on service from time to time, we’re none of us perfect - although you’d think so listening to some of the righteous individuals spouting their rubbish on here. I’ll take note tomorrow when I go for breakfast to see if I can pick out whichever decor has ruffled their feathers, but as far as I’m concerned, this is a beautifully renovated historic hotel. It would be a crying shame for it to miss client bookings because of fake reviews. I’d highly recommend it and I hope you have a wonderful stay 😊

Please note: Georges is closed. DO NOT order from here online, there website may still be active but living close by to George's, I have not seen them open for months! Letters in the shop front, dust gathering, occasional lights on but I think this is for the flat upstairs. Not sure what happened to them but given their food safety rating I believe they may have been shut down.

Basic takeaway. Really good food and affordable too, though they have a few uninspiring and frankly bad recipes. But to each their own, someone must be buying it. Quality to price it's best Chinese in Huntingdon currently . I always make it a point to pop in when I'm there. Payment is usually cash only

This place has character and the locals are friendly, just making my way around st neots picking out the best ones. I like this place albeit one little issue is I always get the same middle aged barmaid with grey hair hanging in her eyes ..you need a barmaid refurb definitely not a Brucey bonus one should be leaving the bar work to younger pretty girls a hot blooded man wants to see please.
