Sea Shell in Huntingdonshire

Didn't get as far as the food as they don't take credit card. Apparently I can order online but why would I do that when I'm stood in the shop???!!! They didn't seem to care much.

Delivery was late. Order was nearly cold. Scampi was overcooked.

Crispy batter and lush beef dripping chips. Now my favourite chippy in town

it never arived. ovusly just dilvered it some else and did not check with the code

have used seashell before and find it to be average this was around a year ago and thought I'd try them again. the chips were very lardy rather then fried in oil. pie had been microwaved so the pastry was soft rather than crisp, sausages were nothing special, overall food is passable but not worth going out of the way for.

It was a cold night but the reception was warm. I’ve had my favourite fish and chips simply because it was on the way home and good quality but I will definitely add 15 mins to my journey to come here. The batter was fresh and crispy and the chips were great. Busy but not a problem!!

I didn’t even get to have what I ordered and paid for. Says open on Google and happily accepts orders until 9pm on Sundays , however it actually shuts and 8:30pm. So I pay for my meal over their own website, go to pick it up but no one is there and it is shut. Shambolic place.

Ordered a take-away, and when I got home realised that some of my order was missing. It was only a battered sausage, so did not bother any further, but the fish and chips were good.

Only ordered here as it was a Sunday and Fish Face was closed. Having seen some of the reviews, and knowing that Fish Face is rated so highly without being great itself, I honestly expected the worst, but I was actually so pleasantly surprised. The chips were pretty decent (much of a muchness with others), but the Fish was so so good, the batter was so light and crispy, like it is supposed to be. My only regret was not ordering a large. Portion sizes are smaller than Fish Face, despite costing more, but the difference in quality of the fish was 100% worth it. Don't know, if I just got lucky, and got it on a good day, but I will be ordering again here soon (probably a bigger order when family come to visit), and I'll update this review accordingly. Addition: Have ordered from here a few times since my initial review above, and the fish has always been very good. So, certainly was not a 1 off.

Good fish and chips a bit of a wait for them but worth it.

Wow wow wow brilliant fresh cod battered to perfection melt in your mouth experience and same goes for the chips cooked to perfection I had to sides added to my regular meal that was more like a large my add ons where curry sauce and mash peas good but the fish amazing 10/10 experience price for a regular that was more like a large was fair £9.00 for the set cod and chips £2 per large portions of curry and peas would definitely recommend

Great food at a reasonable price. Ordered fish and chips with curry sauce. The fish was tasty and the curry sauce was absolutely banging. Had a battered sausage too and it was huge, benefitting from both length and girth :)

Would NOT recommend. Cold and dry dry chips which had clearly been standing for quite some time.

Just had dinner from here. Omg the worst I've ever eaten. Chips so so so dry, rock over cooked, pie not even hot, curry sauce ewww. Think the oil needs changing more often

I have just been to this takeaway, I ordered 2 large Haddock and 1 chips , all I can say is you get bigger fish fingers in the supermarket, the chips were cold, I would warn the people of St Neots to avoid this place . I will never go there AGAIN

Waited 5 mins for my chips and curry sauce... Thought chips would be piping hot for when i got home (3mins away) Wrong needed to be heated in the oven ... Less said about the watery curry sauce...... Rank Disasyer

SERVIVE IS DISGUSTING. IF I COULD GIVE 0 STARS I WOULD So after trying to get in contact with them for over an hour. They answered the phone and placed it next to a fryer. We could hear everything going on. So after another 15 mins my husbAnd has driven down to the shop to see what is going on as money has been taken and no food delivered. SERVICE IS SHOCKING. we have had wrong orders substitutes without being contacted.

DONT THINK ABOUT ORDERING FROM HERE. We came away for a few day and stayed at Premier Inn in Eaton Socon. Just want a burger and when it came they have put cheese on it. (I'M ALLERGIC TO CHEESE) if I wanted a cheese burger I would of order one. So here's the thing that got me is, I ring them and the guy answered the phone, told him, he said don't you like cheese. I said NO. CAN YOU SEND ME A REPLACEMENT BURGER PLEASE. He said I'll get you another one out then he hung up. I tried ringing them again BUT NO ANSWER. so after 50 minutes, VERY ANGRY. STILL HUNGRY BUT NO FOOD. SHOCKING SERVICE ALL ROUND. AVOIDTHIS PLACE LIKE THE PLAGUE. NOW GOING TO TRY AND GET MY MONEY BACK.

Placed an order on Sunday it is now Tuesday and no one is answering the phone but magically my order has been accepted well I want a refund not a takeaway ordered days ago! This place is rubbish do not recommend at all.

Visited for the first time since reopening. Plaice was dry and not worth the money. Mushy peas were basically a pea soup. Did not try any chips. Will go back to other town fish shops.

Not serious staff,don't recommend. I ordered fish and chips but they don't give me a fork ,I ordered chicken burger and cheese on chips and they put the cheese on burger and I said that I will be there in 15 minutes and I came after 20 mins(not 45) and my order wasn't ready, and also the bread was like a stone.

Fantastic fish and chips. Best I’ve had in a long time. Shame I’m not local or these guys would have a regular customer. Could be worth the occasional day out 🤔

I visit this shop regularly and I find the portions are very well sized! They have friendly staff and cook food to fresh which makes all the difference. Delivery times are also good and when food arrives is still very warm! In all very good restaurant and good service!

Chips now come in a small box so you get about half a portion compared to anyway else.half were hard and uneatable, beef and onion pie rock hard and meat dried up inside.2nd and last visit to this place

Tried it tonight on recommendation. I understand it is under new ownership. I t is the best in town. Lovely crispy batter, sweet white fish and firm non-greasy chips. Best of just around the corner for me. We will be regulars for sure

Disappointing, won’t be back, have always had fish and chips from here for a number of years but tonight the fish was greasy and cold, chips were cold, mushy peas cold, was awful, won’t be returning

Chips were perfect, but the pies, battered sausage and chicken nuggets were dry as a bone and well over cooked. My partners savaloy was rock hard, it snapped as opposed to bending. Wont order from there again

My Son and I decided to go for Sunday lunch at a local restaurant he ordered shrimp salad I ordered Crab salad with new potatoes it arrived and it was well presented . But the utensils that were supplied to crack the Crab legs ( that is the best part of crab ) did not work my son tried to use them for me but he could not do it either I told the proprietor and he said he did not have any others,when I pointed out it was his responsibility to supply them he told me to take the crab legs home , I was outraged . I could not eat them and I had no apology , and no offer of taking my meal of of the bill . My Son was sick when he got home I think the shrimp were off I will never go there again absolutely disgusted by the treatment we received. I will not go there again or recommend it

Omg appauling. Fish so greasy and small portion. Chips OK. Mushy peas and curry sauce where topped up with a kettle!!! Person serving no mask, and only take cash payment.

Shocking hygiene practices and attitude from staff. No food Hygiene rating certificate displayed (I’ve since discovered it’s a 1/5) and no evidence of handwashing between handling raw and cooked food. Staff were rude and very dismissive. Pie I had was rock solid. Worst fish and chips I’ve ever had and it’s disgraceful they’re allowed to get away with this, especially during Covid. Please avoid - I just hope I’m not ill!

I’ve ordered three times with this place. First time I waited two hours, it was sent to the wrong address. 2nd time it arrived and delivery driver made a comment along the line of “hurr I remembered it this time.” And third time it never turned up, after three hours I asked for a refund. Drove around to the wrong address on my way from replacement takeaway and yep pile of cold food on the doorstep. I’m still waiting for that refund. Fish and chips were good but I suggest you go pick them up. Personally never again.

After a walk in the park my family often enjoy a bag of sausage & chips afterwards sitting in the church grounds behind. Really delicious chips!

Always great food. Better to collect that use online delivery. Won't buy the apple pie again though, as they batter it.

Absolutely shambolic. We waited over one and half hours for our takeaway to be delivered. I called the restaurant after 45 minutes the lady I spoke to informed me the driver had left 5 minutes ago. I called back 30 minutes later the same lady answered the phone I asked her how long our delivery would be she said 5 minutes. I said you said it would be 5 minutes to me half an hour ago so you are lying to a paying customer she said yes. Then she quickly changed her mind and said no! When the delivery driver eventually arrived the order was wrong we had been given another customers order. I called the restaurant again to ask for a refund she could only refund £7 then she offered for the delivery driver to turn up with the rest of my money. The driver arrived and asked for the food back which we had thrown in the bin without my refund!! Honestly avoid at all costs it's not worth your time.

Disappointing. Had fish and chips on a Friday lunch time at 12:00, so would expect to be freshly cooked. Chips were lukewarm and stuck together. Won't go there again.

Just had cod and chips, the fish was like rubber the batter was hard and full of oil - chips were not too bad and stopped us from starving g as we threw the fish away.

Visited for a quick bite to eat. Chips were freshly cook and tasted good - portion was a good size - very reasonable place if looking for chips in the town centre.

Drove 10 minutes into town and back, only to get home to find I was missing my fish. Upon phoning, Seashell plain outright refused to come and deliver to correct their error. Terrible customer service, and most expensive sausage and chips ever as a result. Shall not be returning. Awful.

Nice service from lady but unfortuntely swiming grease kebab meat was like chewing a rock poor chicken was swimimg with out alife jacket with the grease and i wish i can say the chips might have been cooked for more than two minutes but i would not bank on that quick and simple answer absotely terrible terrible food but pleasant service from the young lady serving

This place is a hit or miss tbh, i've had times when the chips have been really cold or not very nice or them being really good. The battered sausage has been fairly burnt at times or it's been cold where they cook and leave it untill some one orders. I'd rather the owners look into the chips as that's the main concern for me.

Visited here after a long drive back from Cornwall. The cod and chips did not disappoint; nor did the mushy peas. Friendly and efficient service. Give this shop a try, you won't be left hungry.

We'd just arrived in St Neots after a long journey and went in search of something quick and easy. We came across the Sea Shell and had fish & chips to take away. The staff were really friendly. Will definitely go back when we visit the area again

Ordered following 1 1/4lb cheeseburger with chilli sauce 1 medium chips 3 drinks. Received: 1 1/4lb plain burger with no sauce. 3 drinks. Burger not well cooked and filling missing. Chips missing. Rude experience on phone.

On my first ever visit to St Neots at the weekend, I called in to the Sea Shell for dinner. I had the standard-sized fish and chips, and took it out to eat in the town square on one of the benches. The service was very friendly, and a lot of food was already cooked and ready to go, so I did not have to wait long. The fish was excellent, and tasted very fresh, and the batter was a lovely golden yellow. The chips were also excellent, and the portion size was good for about £6. A very good chippy, and I would definitely go back again in the future.

Bloody terrible food delivered 1 and half hours later. Delivery person turns up in a banged out car with a stupidly load exhaust and wheel spins all the way out our close.

The piece of fish I had must of been on a diet as it was more batter than fish, very oily and just poor effort of a piece of fish.

Todo recién cocinado y envueltos, luego de para el transporte. Nada pero bueno comentarios de todos mis 45 invitados. Excepcional! Clean as we walked in. Air fresh in very hot day. Pleasant staff. Good size portions. Seems all positive, but food was too greasy, literally every bite is another explosion of hot fat. Good point there though is fresh hot F&C

I had a takeaway from the Sea Shell for the first time in a while. The Cod that I had was stunning, infact it was one of the nicest pieces of cod that I have had from a fish & chip takeaway in St Neots - the fish was perfectly cooked and not greasy. The chips were also very tasty as well - it tasted like they had been cooked in fresh oil. Both myself and my wife happily agreed that we would easily buy from this place again. YUMMY !!

The best fish in the area! Always fresh and yummy! They are a nice group of folks and very helpful! Located on High Street St Neots. Great take out! Prices are very reasonable.

Was running a local Saturday quiz night, the fish and chips were collected from the sea shell by car after agreeing a deal earlier in the week. We're all ready on time, in boxes for transport. I got nothing but complements on it quality of fish and nice chips. It was freshly cooked and still were ALL at a good temp. Jolly well done Sea Shell and thank you :-)

After getting of the Plane from Spain I was really looking forward to a really nice British Chippy, the place from the outside looked clean and fresh, now I had parked in a loading bay, so did not have a great amount of time, there was one piece of fish there and if I wanted a Fresh bit, well they would cook one to order, Fair CommentSo ordered up a Steak and Kidney Pie, Curry sauce, and Chips, Marvelous, I thoughtThe Chips were colourless, tastless and desolved into a mush, the Pie which is a bought in one was cooked to death on top and a soggy bottom and the Curry Sauce, now this is the Industrial packet mix stuff, love it or hate it, but being from abroad, I had missed it badly, this offering had been watered dowm to gnats pee and probably tasted like itHorrible, and at 4.75 pence Im not going back to try the Fish eitherRubbish
