Danielle was a super awesome waitress, who had a fab and outgoing personality and was very good at making us feel welcome. She was very upbeat and always had a big smile 😀

We came to celebrate my birthday with our daughter and partner. The staff were friendly and helpful though seemed rush. We ordered drinks; the ice in my daughters had something black on it so was replaced. Three of us ordered tri roast which were ok but not to the standard we had hoped, not very hot, vegetables felt like they had been cooked a while and kept warm. My daughter ordered beef roast which took a few minutes longer to come out. The beef was overcooked, very dry and very tough not at all edible, she was not even able to cut, we mentioned to staff, new beef was bought but this was very rare and fatty so also not acceptable. The meal was taken off our bill without asking. Family members have eaten here before and found it a nice meal, but on this occasion it was not at all the standard expected for the price or experience we were looking forward to celebrate my birthday and very disappointing.

Service was slow. Perhaps you were short staffed. Food was mediocre. Menu seldom changes.

We arrived at The Cuckoo excited for a nice meal, but what we got was an exercise in frustration. After being seated promptly, we waited a full hour with no bread or even acknowledgement from our server. It felt like we were invisible! Just when we were about to call it quits, the server finally appeared (after we asked her to come), not to take our order, but to inform us of an even longer wait for the food. There was no apology, no explanation, just a blunt "the kitchen is running behind." Disappointed and frankly, a little hangry, we decided to leave. The worst part? The complete lack of empathy from the staff. Throughout our hour-long wait, there wasn't even a cursory "we'll be with you shortly" or an attempt to manage our expectations. It felt like they simply didn't care about our experience. If you're looking for a restaurant that values its customers' time and offers even a basic level of service, The Cuckoo is not the place. Save yourself the frustration and dine elsewhere.

Danielle was excellent. Seating placement was slightly odd most of the restaurant was empty but sat all tables right next to each other. Food very good

Lovely lunch - nice and quiet. Danielle was our waitress, she was warm and kind and really chatty. The food was well cooked and a good size portion. Would recommend.

Business / social lunch for two. I thought the fixed price menu was very good. The choice was perfect for lunch and pricing fair. The food had a homemade feel to it - we both had soup and fish cakes. Service was very professional and friendly.

Booked a table for a meal with family, having not been to The Cuckoo before did not know what to expect. Arrived a few minutes early but was shown to our table. Some of our party have dietary requirements that were catered for with a separate menu and the use of a tablet and app to check ingredients. This made choosing a lot easier. The menu was okay for our requirements and when food arrived it was well cooked. The Cuckoo was busy, but waiting time between courses was not too bad. Stay pleasant and very helpful.it was busy on the Saturday we visited, so it may be better to book a table in advance. We will call in again On our next visit, food and service are just as good as before. I would definitely recommend you visit, but still need to book in advance.

Love coming to the cuckoo fantastic food. The staff can’t do enough for you. We had lunch Easter Sunday and it was my partner’s birthday and Danielle was so good making it special for him.

It was Easter Sunday and my mums birthday. Very disappointed, had to return our main meals as veg was cold and my meat barely warm. Think mine was reheated and not freshly done as I was told. Service disappointing no way near as good as Mother’s Day which food tasted perfect and I only had to return my dessert as it was cold. Paying alot of money you expect good cooked food (beef looked raw!) and hot, as well as nice atmosphere. Overall I felt very disappointed with food and service received yesterday.

Disappointed! The lamb was nice, the steak was medioca, my son had the gammon and if we had tried it we would have sent it back. Service was friendly but hard work. We had to ask for the same drinks order, 2, 3 or 4 times. ( JUGS IF WATER, BITTER SHANDY ETC) its as if they stuck us in a back room and forgot. Perhaps they were having issues with the tablets. But evening paying at bar ignored by staff.

Service was brilliant. You lady called Caris was our server and made it really good, helpful and cheerful young lady. Food was ok. Beef was tough and only 3 slices of meat! I would have expected more meat and veg for the trio roast at 19.50, including extra gravy. The burger was good though.

Efficient and friendly service and had changed the booking time twice on the day with no problem.

Called in here at 4pm on 26th March. We often stay on campsite at Ferry Meadows and have called in The Cuckoo numerous times. I ordered our food at bar and chose a table at front of pub for my partner and I and are two very well behaved small dogs. Food arrived promptly. There was a middle-aged to elderly man sitting in the bay window near us. He was on his phone, ok until he started listening to, perhaps a u tube video, which was extremely loud, we could hear every word. I thought “how ignorant” and hoped it would not last too long. Unfortunately, the noise continued. We do not expect to have a nice meal, with nice background music, ruined by an ignorant person. I told him I did not like listening to him on his very loud phone. He told me he did not like my two dogs? He was not going to turn the volume on his phone down so we all had to move to the opposite side of the pub😧. The barmaid, who appeared to be in charge, said she “could not get involved in disputes between guests”. We were, actually, customers and, having been in the hospitality trade for most of my working life - owning various premises - I was not impressed with her answer. I would imagine, the ignorant customer was a regular, probably spending the price of one beer! We had actually spent £37.45p and were hoping to enjoy our meal in a nice pub with a nice ambience. The barmaid should have requested the man turn down his phone to a reasonable level.

Had a fantastic evening at the Cuckoo on Sunday night. Food was quick and so good, and service was even better. Shoutout to Caris for looking after us so well. She is a true credit to the team and The Cuckoo are lucky to have her

We are very lucky to have The Cuckoo as our local pub and every time we visit we are always impressed. The property itself is beautiful and well decorated inside, the staff are always attentive and friendly (particularly Izabela most recently) and the food is amazing!

Friendly welcome, order was taken and a wine recommendation was made to compliment our meals. Our food arrived in good time, good food presentation and cooked to perfection. Good size portions too. Desserts were enjoyable too. Good atmosphere and a good family meal. Pub & facilities were clean too. Highly recommended and we will be returning soon. Thank You

Delicious food for mother's day menu which was available Saturday and Sunday, excellent service and good value for money.

I came in on Thursday 14th march with some friends for lunch. It was my first visit found the staff very friendly even though there was only two members of staff at the time. The lady that served us did explain that there was only two members of staff. She told us her name was Sally, she took our drinks order, she said she would give us a moment to look over the menu, she told us what soup of the day was and also told us that there was a few things off the menu. Once our food arrived presentation was lovely and so was the food. Will definitely visit more and I’ve also recommended to friends and family.

Excellent meal, and the service from Danielle was excellent, very polite and cheerful manner. Being from the hospitality industry myself I know that staff like her are hard to find. She is an asset to your company.

Disapointing birthday meal. Alot of food wasn't available, food cold, gravy in pots cold was took away and came back as cold as it had been, plate one side hot one side cold, the excuse of fan bringing in cold air from outside in kitchen, yet my side order was hot. Did complain, got free pudding which was terrible, Eton mess, was told the mix was raspberries, blackcurrant and black berries, I asked for no fresh strawberries due to allergy but it arrived slopped in a bowl and 2 black currants was the only fruit that was in it. Only good comment is for rocco and his excellent customer service. Won't go back nor would I recommend.

If this was the first time we had visited we would not be returning, we waited over half hour just for our drink to arrive, we was told there was only one portion of pie left when she took.our drink order but by the time she came to take our food order it had been sold. We then waited an hour to receive out starters and when our mains finally arrive we're luke warm, our waitress did appologies on numerous occasions about the delay and said they was extremely busy and only had two chefs on. The table that was behind us came in before us and was only getting there mains as we left, I see them go to the bar and bring back a handful of crisps. The food definitely wasn't up to its usual standard we was very disappointed as this was a birthday celebration.

Booed and arrived for early evening meal. Restaurant looks fabulous, very old coaching inn, clean and tidy with ample parking. Waiting staff very polite and efficient. Unfortunately meals arrived cold so was returned without any issues. Unfortunately what arrived back on the table was the same meals that had been nuked in the microwave, including the salad bits and what had any moisture or taste in it had vanished. Just a over hot pile of gunk. I understand things can go wrong, normally when the kitchen is busy but it was 4.30 pm and had very few customers. If you can't cook a burger and chicken meal properly I would suggest you get out of the kitchen.

Arrived at the reception point the man on duty ignored us completely, turned and walked away. After a short period he returned asked for name of booking and said "this way" and walked off, we followed and went to the table he pointed to. The table was strewn with menus. We weren't asked if we wanted a drink. 15 minutes later a waitress asked us if we wanted drinks. after another 10 minutes we made our order for food. Food was OK nothing special but OK. The room was very noisey and this made conversation a little difficult. We ordered more drinks and they were served but the empty glasses and coke bottles were left on the table. We ordered a sweet and after 30 minutes of waiting for it I approached a member of staff and told him of our wait, he said he would chase it up, the deserts arrived 5 mins later. One of the dishes had ice cream on the plate, this was melted, so i assume the dish had been sat somewhere for some time. I asked for the bill and when it arrived a discount card was produced and as we had not told the waitress we would be using it she had to make the adjustments and get another bill. That non production was our fault and caused some delay. However from my seat I could see our server standing talking to another member of staff, I left it for 15 mins and then we put on our coats and made as to leave the bill was produced from a counter top as we approached, I paid and we left.

So booked table for 6pm Mothers day came in told table will be 5 minutes. 20 minutes later we get our table. Left restaurant at 21.20 for 3 course meal. Mothers day set meal but some thing weren't available

Today my fiancé and I enjoyed a wonderful Sunday lunch at the Cuckoo. My ‘Trio’ was spot on and the service by James was excellent. I can recommend this whole heartedly.

Not good. Booked dog friendly table for 5 but seemed surprised when we turned up. No table available. Did clear a table but stuck in a corner under the telly with no light. Table 36. Then had to ask for menus, then ignored until we found out we had to place order at the bar. Price the same as restaurant area but they don’t do table service , have to order and pay at the bar. Just because you have a dog! Food average, chips with the burger were very dry as if oven cooked. Certainly not freshly fried.

Friend and l went for steak sandwich unfortunately no steak- what a disappointment

Your staff and atmosphere really made our visit one to remember. If I had the names of the staff I gladly include them here. The food was excellent for the meat eaters. But my wife had the calamari and sea bass and was very disappointed with both The calamari she said contained no squid and she could not finish it and the sea bass was overcooked to the point of being shrivled and hence tastless. These are two dishes which really could do with reviewing

I had lunch with a friend at midday the welcome from your staff was very good and the service again was very good . She took our drink order promptly and was very pleasant throughout. Lunch was excellent.

I have been to the Cuckoo a handful of times. The staff are always very friendly and professional. The food is amazing and tastes so good everytime. The prices vary on what you have, it's not cheap food but if you want quality food it is what you pay for. I will be back. Duo of lamb definitely recommended.
