Marsh Harrier in Huntingdonshire

Frankie was a friendly host and Josh cooked up a solid Sunday roast. Enjoyed our first stop in and look forward to coming again.

The menu is much as you would expect from a chain. Very quiet on this visit, food was good but fairly pricey.

Ordering app is flaky and slow to the point of being useless and if you use it with the customer WiFi it’s just hangs. Main courses took over an hour to arrive and when they did they looked like they’d been on the warmer for ages, one of the orders didn’t have the prawns that were ordered, when pointed out the server bought back a small plate of cold prawns 10 mons later when my daughter had just about finished, rest of the dishes were microwaved, tasteless and poor quality. I don’t expect gastro quality but even basics should at least be fresh. It’s not like it was busy either. Also had to send a lager back as it was cloudy. The carpets were filthy dirty, the toilets a disgrace and the kids play area shabby, dirty and in need of maintenance. Overall, terrible food, horrible dirty surroundings and 3rd rate service from clearly demoralised staff. Rest assured we will not be returning and I will ensure I make as many people as possible aware of our experience

We went as a family (2 adults and 2 children), there was plenty of parking spaces, the staff was very friendly and the food was nice

If you fancy a mediocre meal, with hardly any interaction with staff then this is the place for you. An example is their cheeseburger, it has cheese, half slice but that does comply with the description I suppose.

Frankie was especially brilliant. Smiley and pleasant young man.

To be honest, it was a busy day, but food was cold and gravy ... I wouldn't call it gravy. Portions were ok, so I'd give it another try on a quieter day and see if it's better.

This was my 2nd visit to this venue. The food was great and hot .. the pizza's are amazing! Staff are very friendly and warming. We were served by Charlotte who's customer service was above all great. We will definately be visiting again.

Been here a couple of times, and always welcomed by staff always serve with a smile, we were served by Charlotte who served us and and brought our dinners over made us feel very welcome and if there was anything else she could help with to let her. She was very polite and professional in her approach to her customers will definately be returning to this venue when visiting family again.

We had a lovely meal and the service from Brad was exceptional he was attentive polite and respectful he is a credit to the team.

The menu is great with lots of pictures and is easy to follow with a vast amounts of choices offered. They even have a seperate pizza menu. However... so much was seemingly missing, their Sunday Roast was out of Chicken (on a Sunday.. where you'd expect exceptional traffi), the large ribs and chicken plate was also out, hell my coffee seemingly broke their coffee machine so my mum wasn't even able to get herself a coffee later. Ya'll needa up the game in this case with how much supply ya got of what foods from the sounds of this and other opinions. The prices are fine and is made up for the quality of food which is great, my burger and my mum's Sunday Roast looked like what the picture showcase (big rarity). However, of course, the portion size could be bigger x3. Staff was nice though the place seemed honestly quite understaffed and it took quite a bit to get seated with only 2 other duos in front of us. At least in the current season the outdoors is as described by the waiter "a free-for-all" and was empty. :3 Definitely better than Whetherspoons in terms of food quality and choice, but Whetherspoons has a nicer atmosphere, quicker service and is more reliable on what you can get.

We had booked but had to wait 10 minutes to be seated , for a meal Sunday lunchtime, the food was ok, could have been more veg, temperature was fine, beer was off, overall food and service were fair , nothing special but ok. Frankie the waiter was friendly and courteous, nice environment ,prices with a 30% voucheoff mains was about right.

We had an amazing time, the food was really tasty. A big shout out to Frankie for making sure we had everything we needed. Thank you Frankie !! We would definitely recommend the Marsh Harrier, it is now one of our favourite places to eat.

Staff were helpful in preparing our order which contributed to our enjoyment. The food - as always - was to our liking. Good value, too.

Came on saturday at late notice, but tgey had lots of tables free which was nice. The food was absolutely lovely as always. The staff are so friendly and don't pester you whilst your eating or drinking. There's lots to choose from on the menu and the prices are very reasonable too which always good! Had a lovely evening! Will be back again soon thank you!

Food was great, but the portions weren’t amazing. The wait time was around 40 minutes, that’s forgivable considering it’s Mother’s Day and the place was absolutely rammed. All in all, I’m sure on an average day this place is great but for a first experience it wasn’t great.

From the welcome at the door to us leaving all the staff were so lovely. Our food was cooked to perfection and the service was first class. Next time we are in the area we will definately visit again.

Down hill all the way, too long for service , too long for food to be delivered to the table , below average food, forgot desserts and gave poor excuse, under staffed, not going back !!!

We visited the Marsh harrier at 5pm on Saturday 15th of March,lured in by a 30%off voucher. We weren't told that there would be a 45 minute to 1hr delay on any food order and took our place at the table. 40 minutes past and I went in search of my starter and passed it in transit. When I sat down it was tasty and hot but was missing pea shoots as described on the menu. We finished the starter and waited another 45 minutes before the mains arrived. The first order was sadly very disappointing, the gammon steak was cold , frazzled at the edges and the hunters chicken was cold in the middle. We were asked if everything was ok and we stated politely "No"! They took both plates away with a promise of better things ahead, but after another 30 minutes waiting the second attempt was worse. The hunters chicken was dry, chewy and required knives sharper than those supplied. The pea shoots were shriveled and the griddled tomato wasn't. The gammon was warmer but the chips were undercooked. We were asked again if everything was ok but when informed the lady things were no better, she merely rolled her eyes mumbled sorry and walked away.At which point we left never to return

Me my partner and 2 children came in to have dinner, we ordered at the bar and service from bar staff was brilliant, very chatty and friendly However once we ordered our food 2x kids sausage and mash, a mixed grill and a chicken burger with chips, we waited 50 minutes or so until our food was brought out, bearing in mind the restaurant was dead/empty virtually which isn’t very good My partner asked for his steak rare-medium rare this came out tougher than shoe leather and well done. My children’s mash and peas were cold, mushrooms were burnt and if I’m honest the food was appalling all round. This cost me £59.99 with 30% already taken off. Personally from this experience we have had we will not be returning

Husband and I went for roast dinner today. We waited an hour for the food to come to the table, the meal was mostly lukewarm warm, some veg undercooked and some boiled to death, roast potatoes were more boiled than roasted. Pretty disappointing to be honest

Five of us visited today. My son had booked a table for 1 pm. we ordered the food approximately 13.20, and it finally arrived at the table 14.40. My son and his wife had the chicken burger. The fries were cold burgers, and bun dry should have been served with a gravy, but they had run out of it I had ordered fish and chips when it came the chips and mushy peas were cold the fish was over cooked and dry inside unfortunately we had waited that long for this food and was hungry we ate what we could and just left the rest.I understand that they were short staffed two serving drinks and two waiting on tables but no excuse for the poor food just unacceptable will certainly not be visiting here again .

The experience was just ok. The staff where friendly and actually quite funny. Plenty of beers on offer but 3 of them were unavailable. The food took forever to come out, 1 hour and 15 mins to be precise to which we had to ask where the food was and considering it was a Saturday evening the pub was not busy at all. The food was ok, some it was lovely and some of it was over cooked massively, especially the chicken wings and the popcorn chicken. The Hartford Mill being a similar pub venue is so much better, the food is a lot better cooked and tastier so we will not be returning to the Marsh Harrier any time soon- Sorry.

Disgusting. If I could give zero stars I would. Just moved to the area. Had 30% off voucher in the post. Popped in with my wife and children. Wasn't expecting outstanding food, but this wasn't even edible. Played it safe with a burger. Served me up a burnt burger (cremated) with a handful of chips on a childrens plate. Sent it back. Replacement burger wasn't much better. We got out very sharpish, never to return again. Even my boys commented how terrible the food was.

The food was delicious, we ordered the vegetarian burger and the cowboy burger with a side of salad. We were really let down as we had to wait an hour for our food to be served. We love this pub/ restaurant and we would return again but there really needs to be more staff.

40 minutes after ordering still no sign of food. Was assured it would be 10 minutes. Another 20 minutes and another promise it was on its way. Short staffed was the excuse. Cancelled order and had full refund without any problem.

Have just taken the grandkids to lunch, however, having ordered we had to wait over an hour for our food to arrive at the table, then, one order was wrong, fish and chips was only warm, other two plates were acceptable. Having to amuse a five year old wanting his lunch, this wait was totally unacceptable. We may have ordered dessert, but just couldn't be bothered for another delay. Your loss.

Pleasant environment. Very slow bar service. No choice of beef as they were waiting for a delivery. Need to order more beer earlier so as not to run out.

i ordered the SHARING nachos for £9.50 obviously expecting it to be big because it says it can serve 2 ADULTS, it came out and was tiny, barely filled 1 CHILD up let alone 2 adults, and when we questioned it they said that’s the right portion size, but i’ve ordered nachos elsewhere for 1 person and it’s had a bigger portion there, do not recommend and is a waste of money.

Staff shortages were still impacting at 3pm after an influx of families for half term treat 12/2pm. Staff were super friendly and welcoming.despite a situation where customers had walked out. It would appear that whoever rotas Staff had taken no account of half term holidays & left very good staff in an impossible situation unable to empty dishwashers, fill up cutlery boxes or keep up with clearing tables. No one should have to deal with so many people with so few staff.

Very very disappointed has we was in early and we ordered , we waited for a hour and still no food , no one came to tell us that it was running late , we was not the only one wanting , we got money back ,won’t be going back for the near future Needed more staff and learn to communicate with customers. Get staff that are experienced.

A solid, well-decorated place for a quiet pint!

Just awful. We booked a table as know it can get busy on a Sunday. When we arrived we were shoved in the corner and the waiter didn’t even speak to us at all. He then came over to tell us there are no toasts, no pizzas and no jacket potatoes which left us with quiet limited options. We ordered via the app, drinks came quickly. 40 minutes later I went to the bar to check we they hadn’t forgotten our food and was greeted by a man who appeared to be the manager who just looked at me blankley when I repeated the question he said yea we will serve the table next to you then it’s you. The table next to us arrived 20 minutes after us, ate their food and left before we even got ours. They continued to serve other tables when the waiter came over and asked if we were ready for our food….. erm yea for the last 45 minutes!! 1 hour and 30 minutes from the order being placed the food arrived and what a state it was. We had to find our own cutlery and napkins and sauces. By this point we would of eaten anything but the steak was chewy and hard to eat, the burgers were dry and the chips undercooked. We were never asked how it was or an apology made dfor the wait times. Do not go here u til it changes hands it’s just awful and actually quite stressful. Other groups of people were complaining about wait times and poor food to and they seemed to just be making mistakes after mistake. Needs a serious rework or they will close down.

As you walk into the pub, there is no signs or notices saying please wait here to be seater or anything. We waited 5 minutes and managed to call over one of the incredibly busy waiting staff, who told us sit anywhere. Looking around the pub, all the staff were extremely stretched and were at their capacity. We sit Down at a table, read the menus then after watching we see that you need to go up and order at the bar. The queue was to the main entrance. Two people serving. When standing in the queue, some guest when ordering were told at the bar it's a 30 minute wait for food, and others were not. We ordered at 6.25pm, lasagne, Hunters chicken and 8oz rump. Our food arrived at 7.10pm, we had to take back the 8pz rump at is was dry and extremely overcooked for a medium rare. A new serving was promptly brought out and this was cooked as requested. The food itself was OK, lovely chips, meet cooked fine, but we all found ourselves still feeling hungry, as portion sizes are on the smaller side. Some tables around us were still awaiting there food and they ordered over 1hour20 minutes. One table had a refund due to the time waiting and no food did arrive. Drinks were expensive. We decided not to have dessert as we didn't feel it was fair adding to the long list of orders and the waiting staff were extremely pushed and short staffed. We came to the restaurant purely due to getting a 30% off voucher though the post. Sadly due to the long service time I don't think we will be making another visit anytime soon!

Overall our experience at the Marsh Harrier was terrible. As soon as we walked in our booked table was being used, so we had to be sat somewhere else. Drinks took 15 minutes after my wife chased for them and the Moretti was not nice. Food was below average. Clearly microwaved food, at a cost for fresh. My "roast" potatoes was what looked like boiled and oiled and missed the oven. I couldn't eat them. Atmosphere was dire, carpets wasn't hoovered (how hard is that?) We was there at midday and it wasn't busy, so hadn't got dirty, was just uncleaned. Had to dig through the cuttelry to find clean knives and forks. Second drinks had to be chased, and the beer I ordered wasn't avaliable, or my second choice, so ended up with another Moretti, which was cheaper than the beer I ordered but the difference wasn't refunded. I won't even talk about the staff because I don't want to be rude. There's much nicer places to eat that are actually cheaper. Avoid

We booked a table for 12pm today and when we arrived our table already had a couple sitting down. So we had to be sat somewhere else! We sat down and ordered our drinks on the app. I went to the bar and mentioned its been 15 minutes since we ordered our drinks. They said they will be with us in a second, 5 minutes later we had our drinks. My husbands moretti didn't taste nice at all, he forced himself to drink it as it was £6. They didnt have no levelhead or peroni! The vodka & coke was absolutely fine. We ordered a roast dinner, a lasagna & our son had a chicken burger. The wait for the food was 30 minutes, so not ideal as it wasn't busy. The food it self wasn't great, especially my husbands roast. The potato's weren't roasted and the carrots still had skin on along with an off colour look. They didn't look fresh. The lasagna was okay but didn't taste great, definitely microwave food unfortunately. The garlic bread could have been cooked longer as there was no colour to it. My son's burger no complaints. I got up to get cutlery as we wasn't given any, some of the knives still had food on them. I asked for napkins, 15 minutes later still no napkins. I went to the bar and asked again, the man said "let me see if I can find them" No apologies were given, no one asked us how the food was. None of the staff smiled, they weren't professional at all!! The carpet was dirty and there was food on the floor as well as dirty tables. One staff member looked a bit scruffy and both shoes were untied. No proper uniform! We spent nearly £50 and none of it was worth it, we will not be returning.

What can I say terrible service not enough staff. cock the drinks up more than once took ages to get served and as the meal well it was crap 1 of us order rump steak & 2 Sirloin Steaks medium rare well, we needed a chain saw to cut it not sure which part of medium rare they did not under stand and as for the cowboy burger that was cook by the cowboy tough as hell & miss the peas off kid meal so we gave him some of ours. We were going to have desserts after waiting at the bar for 10min we did not bother it would have been quicker to go to MD across the road. When did complain was told staff training & new staff not good enough March Harrier had not been in there for 2 years & we will not be eating in your pub again marks out of 10 - 0

What a way to end your Anniversary. Go out for a meal and wait 10 mins to be seated at a booked table. 10 mins for a drink, 20 mins for the starter. Chicken wings over cooked and crunchy smothered in BBQ sauce. Prawn cocktail with bread not buttered. To top that off ask a waiter how long the mains will be? As we had been waiting now for 40 mins He said he will find out and never came back to us even though he walked past our table 3 times. Then asked another waiter who then spoke to the manager that came over to our table and said it will be about 7 mins longer So I gave him 5 mins. During that time the manager came back offering a full refund as our mains hadn't even been started. UnHappy anniversary meal at the Marsh Harrier St Ives Never go there again.

Went here for lunch, they have a great menu, I chose the steak that was cooked to my liking. Also had a dessert was amazing. Staff very friendly and helpful. Will definitely be back.

Really impressed with customer service. Walked in and we were helped straight away by a guy who was totally natural, super helpful and just really easy to deal with. His name was Billy and turned out he was part of the kitchen team-so even more impressed by his front of house skills

A very pleasant atmosphere with plenty of space between tables. Food quality was very good, hot and pleasing to the eye. The staff especially Hayley were very helpful and helped make the visit enjoyable, I would happily return.
