Nice bar with a good selection of beers, brilliant outdoor sitting area to catch some sun.

Food is quite nice, you onow what you are getting and very well priced. It also has a lovely atmosphere with a nice little outdoor area

Good reasonable priced food and beer

Somewhat upmatket wetherspoons in a rather spectacular building. Beer garden on the small car park. Free tap water. Good range of coffee and drinks. Gents lavatory needs to be seen. Suspect Ladies is the same. It's not in Newcastle it's in Whickham.

Great building, visited for breakfast which was very good. Open fires were going which was nice to see. Staff pleasant and efficient. A very good visit.

Couldn't get into the car park as it was blocked by the dray wagon. And when it did leave only private pay to park bays were available. Car park is to small

No staff, food took an age and was about the least amount they could put on the plate for legal reasons. The pub itself is like a rabbit warren. Seems typical of the whole Wetherspoon group. Go local.

A nice 'spoons. Parking is limited, though, and they were out of a lot of vegetarian options on our visit, plus the food took a long time to be served. Despite this, still a solid Wetherspoon experience - you know what you're getting.

Salí a tomar una copa de celebración con mi amiga a la que no veía desde hacía meses debido a que vivía fuera. Compré una botella de Prosecco y después de que la señora detrás de la barra la abriera nos dijo que no tenía vasos de Prosecco. No pude superar un bar que no tenía vasos Proscecco para acompañar una botella grande de Prosecco. Su actitud no era la mejor y luego comenzó a llamarme abiertamente a sus colegas frente a mí pensando que no estaba allí. Muy poco profesional

You can't go past here for nice food and drink at a reasonable price. The place could certainly do with refurbishment, its very tired inside. Nice sitting area outside. Downside, dogs aren't even allowed outside but they have an area for smokers!!! Total discrimination.

Great Spoons to visit. Bike friendly as they have a bike rack next to the beer garden which is on the front of the pub. So you can place your order on the app and keep an eye on your bike at the same time.

It's a wetherspoons, loos upstairs to get your steps in. Your feet don't stick to the floor in this one and there's a few tables outside

Cheap and cheerful...and plenty to choice from

Both gin and tonic glasses were dirty, one had visible lipstick marks around the rim 🤢The curry itself was okay but the poppadoms were soft in the middle and dripping in oil, it was noted that the plate arrived with the poppadoms under than naan bread as if they were hiding the fact they were dripping in oil. A male member of staff in a white shirt who I assume is the manager did change my gins when I pointed out the glasses were dirty. He brought our curries to the table but did not do a return check to see if the food was okay. I pointed out the oily poppadoms when he returned later to clear the plates away. The offer of replacements was declined as we had finished our food by then. He did say he would give our feedback to the kitchen, I hope he did as it was really awful how much oil was on them, they were literally dripping. See the photo if I am able to attach this to the review. A very disappointing wetherspoons visit.

We went here for breakfast, first visit and weren’t disappointed. The building is beautiful with fireplaces throughout. The food was excellent too. We both had a breakfast muffin and unlimited coffee. Highly recommended!

Ahora sintiéndote un poco inquieto, la barriga no se siente mejor. Evita la comida, los chefs tienen claramente resaca 🤣

Fuimos de vacaciones por comida. Estaba ocupado. Pedimos scampi y fish and chips. El scampi era agradable, pero el pescado era más rebozado que el pescado. Muy bien hecho y nada agradable.

The attitude of staff is disgusting. Rude and impolite from start to finish. They all look offended that we pay their wages!

Called in for a swift one after the Blaydon Race. Very clean and tidy inside and serviced spot on

Staff really nice gave us a cup of coffee and hot chocolate whilst we were doing a bat survey on the building next door, so not even customers. Will definitely come back to sample food another time.

No outside seating as it was a lovely Saturday afternoon so we went inside. The place looked dirty and shabby. Some of the staff were moaning loudly about how busy they were. Tables not cleared. Long queue waiting to be served. Food looked so unappetising so we gave it up as a bad job and left .

Will never darken the door again

Was there on Thursday with old school friends. We always choose this venue. Can't be faulted. The staff go out of their way even taking our photos when extremely busy.

I live in Ryton, but I am happy to travel here to meet my friends for a girly night of drinks & food, as it's an absolutely great pub. The staff are brilliant, very friendly & can't do enough for you. Their approach to giving excellent customer service is 10/10 from us. The menu has a great selection of meals & the offers are good value, especially with a drink included. For a branch of Wetherspoons the food is delicious & the atmosphere & people who drink & eat there ate always well behaved, chatty & friendly, its definitely the best Spoons I've ever been to & return to again & again. The building is gorgeous too, as the old Whickham Town Hall (I think). The ladies are upstairs & huge, it's just a pity it didn't have a bigger carpark!

Paid parking. Only takes cash. Website wasn’t working to pay for parking online. Remote cameras on wall of pub. Ended-up with a £60 parking fine . . . very annoying and expensive pint!!!

One of the best Weatherspoons I've been in. Standard spoons menu. Lovely environment, staff were fantastic. Very quick to clear the table, very pleasant and nice. Top notch. The sort of place I'd go out of my way to go to

Everything but the parking was fine.

The Food was good, warm and well sized, the atmosphere was pleasant and not to quiet or loud. The staff were friendly, well presented and helpful and the building was clean and inviting. Quite deceiving parking instructions with limited places around the building. Lots of local plants outside to help with local beauty.

Love the decor, food was hot & very tasty. I have been here serveral times and never been disappointed. Good value fot money.

Went for the breakfast, good value, well cooked,hot. I had the freedom breakfast my partner had the large one and our friends normal. We all enjoyed our meal. Will definitely be back.

Nice building, had breakfast with coffee decent breakfast place was half full nice atmosphere, limited parking so had to park up about 200 metres away.

My husband and l had a curry each and drink included in the price, great value for money and the meal was tasty, unfortunately the seats we were sitting on had chunks of leather missing so you could see the foam filling, think the whole place needs a refurb, it could be made really nice.

A beautiful building in the centre of Whickham which is a pretty suburb in itself. Didn't stay long or eat here, however. There is limited parking out front and you need to obtain a parking permit from the bar.

Best wetherspoons I've visited. Really nice staff, great service and food. To have this was refreshing after several disappointing visits to other wetherspoons in the area.

Quite possibly the worst fish n chips I’ve ever had. Third day in the UK and was looking forward to this meal, having had a superb experience in 2019 during our last visit. It appeared the cook forgot the fish in the fryer - over-cooked and dry. There was more batter than fish. Some flesh was salvageable from deep inside. Chips and peas were edible. When we raised it with the waitress, she literally said she saw there was “something wrong with the fish” when she brought it out, so would refund the meal. Asked why she would serve a plate she had identified as being a problem, she explained that she’d planned to check in on us, but was too busy. “Sorry”, she said. Then, for the remaining time we sat with dirty plates on the table because we were being ignored, seemingly in spite for complaining about the fish. What an awful evening. Steer clear.

The Harry Clasper is a great example of what Wetherspoons is all about converting the defunct but wonderful council offices in Wickham into yet another useful building we can visit and use and of course enjoy

It's a kind of classy whetherspoon if that's possible. 😂 Outdoor seating for summer pints. Parking limited. As usual easy to order food and reasonable quality for a fraction of the cost. 👌👍

Real beauty with the most beautiful toilet i have seen

We don’t usually come here but we went to the Harry Potter quiz ran at the harry clasper tonight and I just want to say how superb and fun it was. I spoke to one of the young girls running it and they expressed how this was only the second quiz they have ran here together since taking it over from a manager but they were amazing and so professional. They made it funny, engaging and they even dressed the part! Absolute credit to the team girls. Your manager should be proud of yous both, Keep it up!

Great breakfast and coffee for the price.

Very disappointing visit to Harry Clasper, Whickham this afternoon. Went for lunch with friends, asked a member of staff to warm up some spaghetti for my 8 month old daughters lunch to be told they weren’t allowed because of cross contamination. I fully understand concerns for this, however they say they are a family establishment therefore surely they would provide a microwave for customers to use for their babies to avoid using the kitchens where their food is cooked. I asked how I was meant to feed my baby to only be told ‘sorry’. This particular member of staff was very abrupt and had already been abrupt with the rest of my party before I got there about blocking a threw fair, which again is understandable but the way we were spoken to was just rude. I even asked for a bowl of hot water so I could try and heat my child’s food up in that and was still told no!! Now that is absolutely ridiculous. Because of this, we left immediately and went to Oli and Joes along the road who were extremely accommodating and had no issues warming my daughters food. Terrible customer service and will not go back again.

Came for breakfast and a latte, ordered a full English changed the fried egg to poached, the egg was a little overcooked but still nice. lovely food, polite staff, clean table area.

Interior is nicely done, but unfortunately the food does not live up to the decor. This has to be one of the worst in the north east chain for food, although they manage a decent Eggs Benedict & Full English in the morning. Anything else, just stick to the beer.

All staff in high spirits, fantastic service at the bar and food was exceptional. Would recommend to anyone in the area.

Two female bar manager are quite rude I've been up to order drinks at the bar the first one could not be bothered to make eye contact seem like she did not want to be there more interested in flirting with a group of men at the bar. Don't waste your money plenty more welcoming bars around. This has happened on both our visits. And the food is not up to standard.

The worse pub ever. Extremely rude manager and aggressive door staff. They asked a young friend of mine in our party to leave after drinking only 3 pints They said he was drunk,he clearly wasn't. There was no reasoning with the aggressive door staff and the manager wouldn't even provide her name. Absolutely shocking. Someone from Head office need to pay a visit to this place as it has a dreadful reputation. Keep away is my advise.

I visited on Saturday 17th December for my work night out with my grandson who is 21. We had 3 drinks each and a (very poor) meal. My grandson went to the toilet and when he came down the stairs the doorman said he thought he was drunk and asked him to leave. There is no way he was drunk and I went to speak to the bouncer thinking he had made a mistake. The bouncer shouted at me and told me he'd been in Afghanistan and his judgement was fine. I fet intimidated and bullied and the manager just walked past us and ignored the situation. Neither the bouncer or the manager would give me their name when asked. This really spoiled our night - I'm 60+ and was out with my grandson - we weren't there to get drunk. Something needs to be done about the attitude of the staff in this pub as they certainly don't understand customer service at all. We've been in there many times with no problems at all but looking at the reviews after our experience shows me that lots of people have experienced this bullying.

Awfully discriminating behaviour from owner putting seating all over the disabled parking spaces I ended up with a fine from the care company next door for parking in a space with my badge out. £160 fine

Lovely building, weather Spoons style

Lovely pub and beer garden! Very clean and well laid out. Staff are always so helpful and cheery which is 100 miles better than what you’d get in another pub. Good prices for food and drink and alot to choose from.
