The Harrow Inn in Hastings

I had avoided for a long time as Sheppard neame does nothing for me. Stopped on a whim and it's a lovely pub with an open fire and beams. Out of the 4 guys at the bar 3 of us had Guinness and 1 had a generic lager. Decent pub though.

Went for a family Sunday roast. Was very impressed, wait staff were absolutely amazing too

Super friendly staff. Great classic British pub atmosphere, including hops hanging on the wall. Reasonable prices. Good quality food. A great selection of options at the carvery.

We come to The Harrow regularly for drinks and the odd meal. The staff are fantastic, friendly and helpful. The food is of an excellent standard and great value for money. Highly recommended.

I was taken to The Harrow Inn for Mothering Sunday,we had the carvery,it was hot and delicous,will go back again.

Haven't been to the Harrow for a good few years. Six of us went this time and will not be going back. The service was good, the waitress was attentive, pleasant and friendly. However, the food was awful, stodgy and tasteless and I could not eat more than a few mouthfuls. Many of us were disappointed with the food. Then, to complete the experience, there were a group of drunks shouting and swearing at the bar. Not good and made me wonder how many other people have left or not returned because of the bad atmosphere.

Very nice evening. Prices were incredibly lower than a lot of places we’ve been this holiday ! Food was amazing and managed to get our dog in 😊😊😊

We love this place, the food is great, quiz nights are fun and the atmosphere is great. The staff are the best part of this place always great service and politeness. The fish and chips are amazing!

Great local pub, Donna and her team make a huge effort to ensure everyone enjoys their visit. Good beer and good food, what more do you want, highly recommended

We had dinner in this pub recently having first checked the menu online. Not only were the prices substantially higher than published online but the quality of the food was poor. Two of our party had the turkey, ham and leek pie, these consisted of huge unmanageable chunks of tough indiscernible meat in a tasteless watery sauce under a flabby crust. Never again!

Wonderful Sunday carvery served here. All home cooked and delicious! Highly recommended.

I feel standards have dipped at this restaurant. Firstly we were seated in the bar area which is a lot noisier (full of workmen having a beer in their lunch break) and colder than the restaurant. I understand that they had a wake that afternoon but if we had been told that when we booked earlier in the day we probably wouldn't have bothered. We had a 45 minute wait for food which seemed excessive. I ordered steak and ale pie as I've enjoyed that many times in the past. It was very watery and lacking in filling.The veg and mash had been microwaved. Considering the length of time we waited we would have expected fresh veg. Very disappointing overall

Very nice meal. Good variety on menu. 0% Guinness! Quick service and piping hot food. Waiter very friendly and helpful, but not intrusive. Very reasonable prices. Large car park. Thoroughly recommend. Check out where it is before you go though, because it’s near a couple of road junctions and you need to be looking for the entrance to the car park before you see the pub sign, or you risk driving past it!

Enjoyable meal good portion staff friendly the place has improved since i last visited i was surprisingly impressed just waiting time for our meals took a long time to arrive dissapointing especially when you have children

Just had a Sunday roast there which was not very hot also we were sat in a back room that was so cold I had to keep my coat on the whole time I was glad to leave and if I was not with other people I would have . If you book a table make sure it is not in the back room . I did ask to move but they said there was no room but other people came in after us and got a warm room I will not be returning .

The food was gorgeous! We had the Sunday roast and both the veggie option and the beef were lovely. The staff were friendly and helpful, and we're looking forward to our next visit.

Came for a wake, needs a little work on atmosphere. Everyone turns to look as you walk in.

Had Christmas dinner here the quality of the food was superb. The young ladies who were waiting tables were awesome. Working hard to keep everyone happy. The young chap (Ryan I think) was just as good. Overall it was a superb experience and would recommend this place for the food the drink selection the atmosphere and the superb staff ,who were friendly even though under extreme pressure.

Met my sister together my 20 month old Granddaughter here today for lunch. Barman ( sorry didn't catch his name, lovely dark eyes, dark hair and tats). So friendly, cheerful and polite. Owner maybe, nice lady too. Asked where I could collect a high chair from, no need it was brought over. Sat in the bar area which was welcoming and music was good. We decided we only wanted to share 3 sides, not a problem. Halloumi fries were lovely and so many of them. Sweet potato fries were nice but beat us with the huge portions. The only reason not 5 stars, the onion rings were anaemic. Will return soon. Thanks 👍🏻

Went with family and friends, young and old, there's something for everyone here. What was most lovely about this place, was the staff!!!felt really looked after, and welcomed!food was Brilliant, big portions, we had the carvery, and the roasties were fantastic!totally recommend if you want a hearty roast dinner and a warm welcome!

We didn't eat as it was a wake but the welcome was first class with an excellent choice of beers and wine a well banked log burner cheered us up no end. The food I did see being served looked excellent and of the highest order.

Had a very nice Sunday carvery. I had the Gammon, but there was Turkey or Beef. Proper crispy roast pots. Very nice. Service was also very good.

Fabulous place fun place very welcoming and also allows dogs in and there’s a lovely dog who sits at the bar called frank

I took the family to this pub for evening dinner the food was excellent and the service was good afterwards when we had finished dinner there was karaoke and the people there made us very welcome with a sing along

Great pub with friendly atmosphere, staff very friendly and food great and reasonably priced Good variety of vegetarian options for the wife. Kids meals butcher quality sausages and chicken nuggets made from breast not processed rubbish. 👍🏻

I was fed up with the Brewers Fayre at the Premier Inn, to try something better the Harrow Inn is only a 15 minute walk away. Staff are welcoming and engaging, the locals friendly. The beer is good and the food freshly cooked and good quality as well as good value. It's everything that a Brewers Fayre isn't. Franky is a star as well.

Went to see excellent band at the festival. Bar and catering was chaotic with long queues but good atmosphere.

We stopped off for lunch after passing by on many occasions on route to the West Hill Hastings. So glad we as it was a not be missed experience. Staff were so amazing & friendly..... Don't drive passed pop in & try.

Visited with a friend, Staff are superb, happy to adapt and change menu so my friend was able to eat what they fancied that particular day, Food is amazing, service amazing, staff amazing, I can't flaw this place at all, just wonderful n the jam sponge is divine!

We have just held a wake at The Harrow Inn and found the service, food and staff excellent. I can highly recommend this as a venue for anyone looking for a venue for a similar gathering.

Fantastic atmosphere, Friday night vibes!

Fantastic Family outing for dinner. Mixed ages and everyone loved their food. Excellent roast carvery, I’m funny about my roasts but this was a great traditional roast. Meat was cooked to perfection, crunchy roast potatoes, stuffing, lots of different fresh veg and a good gravy. Fans puddings on offer too. We were stuffed!! Very reasonable prices too. Definitely be going back.

Just popped in for a quick easy lunch. Sunday so it was carvery. Honest, well cooked and fair price. Can't complain.

We had an amazing lunch on Easter Sunday. We chose the carvery and were not disappointed. Wr waited to be called up so the food was fresh and we werent queing. Despite it being busy the service was nice and quick. The roast dinner was lovely and the meat really well cooked. The staff are friendly and efficient and the standard of hygiene excellent with the girls cleaning down tables and redressing them really quickly. Would definitely recommend to anyone wanting to experience a friendly atmosphere and really good food

Shocking health and hygenie . dog sitting in bar eating bone . other dogs can in and one wet all over the floor where people sit and eat . dog kept climbing on table when they leave tables not wiped down. . blue roll used to wipe up wee and dry mop

We went to the harrow inn for the Sunday carvery as we heard good reviews, it was average at best. We was shown to a table in direct sunlight, there was no other tables available and no curtains at the window. We ordered the carvery and we was told to wait until we was called up. After 20 minutes we asked when we could go up and we was told to wait until they let us know when they was ready. It was very quiet, but we waited for another 10 minutes until we was called. Best part of the meal was you was given a lot of meat. The vegetables was hard and the gravy like water. We won’t be returning.

Amazing carvery and desserts, we had the mini egg cheese cake and blackforest sundae, and they were delicious. Prices are very reasonable too. Staff were friendly and polite. Highly recommend x

So nice. Friendly staff. Easy access with a ramp and no steps. Food was super tasty and generous portions. Drinks were affordable too. Really nice evening. The bar section of the location is dog friendly too so you can bring your fluffy baby along.

Service was good, friendly staff, this was our second time here thought we would give it another try as first time was not the best but thought haho give them a second chance, well there won't be a third chance food was as bad as the first time

Lovely impromptu visit for dinner with my husband. We had the sharing platter which was lovely, but would have been nice to have a few little dips on the side to accompany the fish items. He has wanted the pie but it has sold out so we had the katsu chicken curry and the house burger. Both of which were very good. Lovely friendly service.

Looks a bit run down but clean and comfortable inside. Staff friendly with quick service. Chicken & bacon pie full of chicken. Very nice.

Used the venue for a wake for my mum. Excellent value and exactly what was requested. Service was attentive, but not overbearing. Many thanks to you all

The Harrow put on a wonderful spread for our dad's funeral wake. I would highly recommend them as a venue. Hope to return soon.

Only went ghere because if was convenient for one of our party who doesnt drive. Wish we hadn't bothered. As previously, very average food with very poor service. Also had no beer on their pumps so even as a pub a total failure

This was ...average.. the decoration and aswell as the piano and other musicals instruments was a nice touch ! And the waitress was inviting. Interactive , funny and helpfull . But ngl the pie was dead ! Ordered pie and mash and veg and it was just disappointing 😞

We always have breakfast out on Christmas Eve and we have chosen The Harrow the last couple of years, last years was a buffet, omg it was so good, lots of food to choose from, the two girls did a great job as it was very busy.

Been working in Hastings for 4 months never came to this pub/restaurant,food here is brilliant real value for money if in Hastings please try this place. Staff are warm and welcoming 🙏

Went to the Harrow Inn for meet up with friends after a very good friends funeral. The food put on was lovely we was left on our own to talk and grieve. The atmosphere in the Pub put everyone at ease. The bar staff were great. The bar itself was easy to get at and the service was good. There was an open log fire in the bar and later a wood burner was lite in tha area we were all in .Will defiantly go back to the Harrow again 5 stars from me.

We have now been several times with all our family members and the staff and the food never disappoint, the carvery is great value for money and well worth the visit..

Sunday carvery is always really good, we have been several times now and each time we have been pleased with both the meals and the staff… will be definitely going back there again

Love, love, love this place. Home cooked food and wonderful staff with a laid back atmosphere. Good choice of drinks in a cosy bar. And always different marvelous tasting specials at the restaurant. The carvery is well worth a try too!! Update: Xmas dinner 2022 was excellent. All the staff have outdone themselves. Roll on 2023 for more great times in the Harrow.

Shepherd Neame pub with good food, great beer and lots of free parking on site. Regular great live music with local bands. Indoor and outdoor seating in recently refurbished outside beer terrace.

Had Christmas dinner there choose the cod which was not cooked properly and was small compared to other people's turkey...cheese cake was weird.. had a weird texture the base was white... well would not choose those again. Was a disappointed...

Staff lovely , pub and food just average

Food was good, one drink was forgotten and one portion was very small, these little niggles were soon rectified by the staff. Would definitely return

The food is good if you are prepared to wait at least an hour before being served. The noise is almost unbearable on a Saturday night if you wish to have a conversation.

Beautiful little bar but happened to visit on a rather rowdy day . Didn't stay long and dare say won't return-friendly staff but didn't get any food!!!

Went down to visit family and popped in for lunch. Service was slow and food average. Waitresses were lovely but management not friendly at all. Bad atmosphere between waiting staff and management. Won't visit again!

Menu was very limited, felt like a working mens club and there was a dog laying on the bar! It's obviously good for some as it was busy but not for us.
