We come in this pub now and again as it’s local, we were looking forward to seeing a local live band however we ended up witnessing a disabled lad sobbing as the landlord refused him a seat. All but a few tables were reserved. The poor lad had no choice to leave. It was absolutely disgusting. We then heard that they’d refused a seat to another elderly disabled lady too!! The so called locals came in at 8;45 and then started having a go at another man who was saying it was a disgrace that the lad had to leave. Their response: well the band shouldn’t have a following. Lovely people-not! Public house ? Seats should have been on a first come first served basis as is the case everywhere. But to actually approach a disabled lad and tell him he can’t sit there is surely against the law? Dispicable behaviour from the obnoxious landlord and so called ‘locals’ we will never visit this place again

Visited this establishment to see a family member in a live band as we follow them regularly. We are a family of 4 with one family member having multiple disabilities including a visual impairment and autism. We arrived to find multiple tables with reserved on them. It was so busy it was difficult to move and actually dangerous. We sat at a table and was told by bar staff that we needed to move because the table was reserved for regular customers. We tried to explain we needed seats due to disabilities but we're told there was space round the back. We had come to see the band....how is someone with a visual impairment meant to see from there? Long story short, due to health and safety reasons we had no choice but to leave without even getting a drink which left our son distraught. Try explaining to someone with autism its not safe to stay and watch your uncle play in his band when you had been looking forward to it for weeks. He was inconsolable. I spoke to the landlord and tried to explain i was unhappy with the situation as we had a disabled son and his reply was "i have a disabled son myself and am highly offended by what you have said" you would think if that was the case he would of understood our frustration. God help everyone in that place should there be a fire or other emergency. No chance of getting out safely at all and the landlords attitude was disgusting. Disability discrimination act say's you need to make reasonable adjustments. The landlord needs to make massive adjustments mainly to his attitude towards customers. Will not be going back. Not a warm welcome to new customers only care about regulars.

Absolutely awful service. Reserved seats for people when should be a first come first serve. Have a disabled brother and won’t let him sit down as the table is ‘reserved’. Would never recommend.

Came to see a local band with my disabled mum and dad. Arrived at seven thirty to ensure we could get a seat and all bar three of the tables were reserved and empty. We asked if my mum could sit at one of the places and the landlord said: no they’re for the locals! He made my disabled mum feel humiliated and he made her not only move but expect her to stand!!!!! I’ve always thought public house meant for the public. We’ve followed loads of bands and never ever had this. The landlord should be ashamed of himself I’m reporting him to the brewery.

It says the opening hours on a Sunday are 12.00 until 9.00 but not open today at 2.30 it seems such a shame that this pub is hardly ever open.

We've been for a Sunday Roast today, and it did not disappoint! The meat just melted in my mouth, I had the large and got two big slices of beef and two big slices of pork, the veg was tasty and plentiful, the roasties were crispy with a fluffy centre and the gravy was rich and delicious. The staff were friendly and nothing was too much! I'd absolutely recommend everyone to come and try the food! The beer is nice too!

Popped in just for a couple of drinks, quiet when we arrived but started to fill up, they had a singer on. Most people seem to know each other in there, had no issues with this visit and drink prices are ok.everyone seemed friendly enough..

I thought that the signs of welcome to a family run pub was a good sign but this experience was sadly short of the expectations this brought. I wanted to eat and to be fair the liver, onions mash and gravy were good but the pint of Doombar to accompany was cloudy and sour. I asked for a replacement and this was done but the new pint was no better. The barman, who was my only point of contact, determinedly did no check back on the meal otherwise he could have tried again with the pint but by the time I had finished my food I left leaving the seasoned lager drinkers and him to themselves. To summarise your pipes need cleaning or you are not turning over the Doombar quickly enough for it not to go off. A waste of my £4 and a result of me never returning for a meal again. Your service left the same sour taste as your beer. You obviously have no real pride in your pub or what it serves. Advice for your chef would be to leave and find employment elsewhere so that you can be appreciated.

Visited the Harrow Inn tonight for a spur of the moment family meal. I had the mixed grill which was very nicely. Cooked and for £8.95 very very good value my partner a dog her daughter both had a cheese burger and we had garlic mushrooms and salad to share. Total cost was approx £26. The food was excellent and locally sourced I will definitely be visiting again.

I have lived in ollerton all of my life and over the years I have been a regular of the Harrow pub along with my friends and family, we have seen this pub at its very best and most recently at its very worst. Initially we were excited that the pub was back open after closing for a short amount of time and to show our support we approached Paul the landlord about having my dads 60th birthday celebrations there on Saturday 3rd February, he explained it couldn’t be closed for a private party but it wasn’t particularly busy at the moment and we were more than welcome....great!! We asked if we could bring our own food and informed him of the numbers of people we were expecting to attend. After spending a small fortune on invitations and sending them out to friends and family local and further afield we were feeling pretty organised. Every couple of weeks I’d pop in and see Paul and run things through with him, not wanting to take things for granted or to assume, again no problems were mentioned until Saturday 27th January ( 1 week before the party)when my dad receives a phone call from Paul expressing his concerns over the number of people attending, after receiving a call from my dad explaining this I told him not to worry I’ll call Paul myself to see what the problem was. Paul now seemed to have a problem with the amount of people attending due to fire regulations, something he would have know about from day 1, I offered to get a mini marquee for the garden to accommodate the amount of people, his response was “ Let’s be realistic Lisa it’s the middle of winter, who wants to stand outside?” I told him I would have garden heaters inside the marquee, he then replied “you are not taking over my pub, I will stand on the door and count 100 people in then rest will be turned away” I explained I couldn’t have people turn up to my dads party for them to be turned away at the door, it would ruin the whole night, his response was “well if you want to take your business else where then feel free” Sure enough I didn’t need telling twice, he clearly didn’t want the business. The very lovely and extremely accommodating Alison from the ollerton house has stepped in and saved the day, she has gone above and beyond to make sure it will be a night to remember for all the right reasons, the attitude a good landlord\landlady should have, eager for business and eager to please. So along with many other people I won’t be stepping foot inside the Harrow again!

Booked for a party if 26 for the steak night. Meals came out in 2s with a 20 minute wait inbetween. Clearly the booking for this amount if people should not have been taken. Four of us asked for a refund and left without a meal. Eventually all the others were served but portions got smaller.

When entering this public house,we stood at the bar and had to listen to a loud mouth animal abuser of the worst possible kind,he bragged openly that he beat their puppy,he kicked and punched the puppy in the face and eyes, and kicked and punched the poor baby constantly, then threw it in the garden shed and left it in there, and said he was going to shoot it, I was deeply upset by this,he needs to be named and shamed and reported to the police and RSPCA. I will not be comming into this inn again,as this pig was a regular, please do something about this

Just so potential customers are not misled, The Harrow is in Boughton, adjoining Ollerton and should NOT be listed as being in Newark, some 14 miles away. People visiting Newark and trying to find it will be very confused! So nowhere near some other venues listed. Ignore my ratings as they have to be filled in.

Despite some of the lesser enthusiastic reviews on here, I'm usually upbeat about the Harriow. With settled, well humoured staff, especially the landlord, the home cooked food is delivered promptly, fresh and hot, its plentyful and its well presented as far as pub-grub goes. My only gripe is that the tables always seem sticky and the cutlery is thin and cheap. The prices are fair for the area, in fact you could pay double for some more, pretencious food within the area and be far less satisfied. The Sunday carvery is excellent and the pub accomodates late comers till 4pm I believe. I've been to this place many times and its normally really busy. Come summer, there's a lovely beer garden and the theme nights, along with quiz and entertainment make this a place worth taking a ride out for. just head out with the idea if paying a reasonable price, for reasonable pub food, in a traditional atmosphere with good management and staff and you shouldn't be too disappointed. We never are!

We stopped here for lunch as we were travelling through the area. To be honest if there had been another choice nearby we would have continued driving. When we walked in we were hit by a smell of fried food and the decor is dated. However, the lady behind the bar was very welcoming and there were about 5 other tables in so we thought it could not be that bad. The food was nothing to write home about. The baguettes were soft rolls but tough at the bottom. the chips were ok. The cottage pie although it tasted fine looked like one of those microwave meal ones.

We’ve been working away from home for the past five weeks and have eaten at The Post Office in Newark almost every night. It’s become our go-to spot! The staff here is fantastic, always welcoming and attentive—Kenzie, in particular, has been amazing, making sure we’re well taken care of each time we come in. They even switch the sports channel to our local team’s games, which makes us feel right at home. The food is top-notch! We had the Jingle Bell Beef burger, and it was excellent—perfectly cooked with incredible flavor, paired with crispy, beer-battered onion rings. We can also highly recommend the mixed grill and fish and chips—both were delicious and generous portions. The beer selection is solid too! If you’re looking for great food, friendly service, and a spot to catch a game, The Post Office is the place to be. We’ll definitely miss this place when we head home! ( coffee & smashed glass )
