One of my serendipitous finds whilst minding a mates dog! A proper traditional pub set amongst picturesque farmland, family run, very friendly and helpful staff. The food is very nice and straightforward tasty nourishing pub food at a reasonable cost. The lunch menu is very reasonably priced. They even cooked a sausage for Teddy! The Harrow is my go to pub when I’m in Ashton in Makerfield. A great find!

Food wastage must be massive at the harrow inn, 3 of our party had hunters chicken with far too much on the plate loads chips and salad plus chicken. Far too much and over facing. The harrow inn could easily half the potions and reduce the cost. The others had Spicy burger which was okay and chicken with pepper corn sauce also to many chips and steak and ale pie also with a pile of chips and loads of garden peas. One of the servers was not very welcoming but the younger one was very friendly. It could also do with modernising in the restaurant part.

We have been to the Harrow a few times and the previous visit I complimented the chef for the two tasty meals we had enjoyed. Last night three os went for dinner. We were welcomed and seated and ordered our meals and drinks, which we received in under two minutes. Our son had Chicken Tikka which he loved and emptied his plate having relished this treat. My wife had Chicken In Peppercorn sauce and her portion was plentiful and tasty and again the meal was enjoyed. last time we came I had Cumberland sausage and a gorgeous tasty gravy, I ordered this again and was again highly impressed. Three good meals, all different but all enjoyed. It gave us an excellent 75 minutes visit and we complimented the manager. Not the cheapest meal but certainly tasty. We felt it was good value. Will of course return again.

Unprofessional Staff with obvious lack of customer service skills I’m afraid. The food was extremely disappointing and expensive. The chips were not homemade as stated, meals arrived just warm. Very disappointed. I would not return .

Visited last week.. place devoid of standards and expectations, staff seemed unseasonably unsophisticated… furthermore the whole place was seemingly as disappointing as gout ... The staff haven’t any customer service skills whatsoever! Rude horrible people. Simple questions they answer by smirking and mocking you. Staff have no idea how to correctly make drinks clearly just winging it as they go with the confidence of professionals is unbelievable! Can someone explain why the bar was literally boated in dog hair?! Or why the lass behind the bar was trapping about in muddy wellies 🙃 Don’t get me started on the wine I ordered, Lipstick marks on my wine glass, ordering a Bordeaux to receive a blank stare, a smirk then a glass of cardboardeaux plonk(ed) onto the bar in-front of me…. Not to cause a scene in public I sat down by a very grotty and dated window (apparently the place was recently refurbished…) Lass that served me was just glaring over at me and my fiancé I felt so unwelcome so I left my glass of utter crap where I placed it and left. I came here as it was suppose to be “family run” “welcoming” “great food” none of the above I found to be in any way accurate. The food coming out of the kitchen smelt and looked over cooked, reheated, regurgitated and looked nothing like the pictures. Honestly wouldn’t feed that garbage to a starving dog. AVOID AVOID AVOID!!

First visit to the pub. I booked a table the day before for 6:45. We arrived early and it was so busy which is always a good sign. We was taken to our table and was told they would come take our order at 6,45. We had a drink and got talking to a lady at the next table. She told us the next table was there before she was and she had been served and finished there meal and the table about 6 was still waiting. Another table was also still waiting. After no one came to take our order I went to find someone The lady said there was still orders waiting. I asked how long was the food waiting time she said she would go ask. On returning I was told maybe 30 minutes. Buy this time it was 7.15 and we still hadn’t got our order taken. If it was 30 minutes we would have been waiting 1 hour. I understand it was busy. But if I take the time to book a table I do expect to order around the time I booked for. I had only heard good things about the Harrow but left very disappointed L

We have eaten here a few times. I would recommend phoning in advance as the pub does get busy. The food and service is very good, a little bit of a wait sometimes due to them being busy. It would be great if there were more vegetarian options than there is at present.

We just popped in as they welcomed our little dog into the bar area. They made us feel very welcomed and were so friendly and attentive. We had the lasagna which was absolutely amazing, all homemade and was so flavourful. They allowed me to order from the childrens menu and again very nice. Great portions, and cheese cake and ice cream come highly recommended. See you again soon.

First time for a while in visiting The Harrow. The best Sunday lunch for along while. Good selection on the plate, chose roast beef which was excellent. The gravy was to die for Pleasant staff only to willing to help, arrived just before the rust at 12 noon. Definitely on the list for a revisit.

Visited last week.. staff seemed young and inexperienced... didnt know what they were doing... one veggie option on the whole menu unless you want a sandwich or jacket potato, which are only on the lunch menu. drinks took forever to arrive and the tea was stone cold, ended up paying for the drinks and leaving without food

Only came for a drink as heard its under new management - well, it won’t be open for much longer. During the time I was there overheard the manager talking about customers in a rude manner (Dominic I believe his name is), I saw a mound of dirty cutlery on the tables in the restaurant area (which is VERY dated for a so called renovation) the bar area was so sticky, I went to a table in the bar area, which weren’t much better either, bar area was covered in dog hairs, and dirty glasses, saw another customer being served a glass of wine that had faint lipstick marks on it - seriously??!! To top it off, looked at the menu which looked very overpriced, and some of the food that came out of the kitchen that the waitresses were carrying? I wouldn’t feed it to my dog. Spoke to the girl behind the bar who was very flustered as she was on her own doing everything, who then told me she was 16 AND she was serving ALCOHOL WITHOUT ADULT SUPERVISION??? illegal, poor shambles of a company. Enjoy your visit from trading standards.

Sunday lunch delicious. Fresh produce, nicely cooked and well presented. Very reasonable prices. Polite staff who were attentive. The Harrow is a hidden gem of local interest, which deserves support. A lovely dining experience and excellent value. Many thanks.

We were out for tea , hoping to have found a local pub that serves decent food as this area lacking . We were told to book a table by the staff as they were very busy . We arrived but it wasn't busy and very lacking in atmosphere . We ordered our food but the staff seemed very unorganised and inexperienced . The food was ok only , it is such a shame as it is a lovely pub and we were really hoping it would be great . It would have been nice for the landlord or landlady to be present . We will try it again and give it another chance .

Well I have visited here a few times since the reopen under new management. The food is beautiful all of us enjoyed the food each time we have been. Price is reasonable, for food and drinks. The staff are friendly and chatty. The venue has had a revamp and looks cosy and inviting. I would highly recommend eating at the Harrow Inn

The Harrow has been taken over by new management. There are always teething problems and having visited twice, the weekday menu does need tweaking. The homemade chips are lovely but the servings are stingy. There is too much repetitiveness of some meat menus and vegetarian option is the same for weekday and weekend. There needs to be more vegetarian options and back to basics with soup options. What is wrong with vegetable or tomato? Cauliflower soup is awful and can't imagine many people wanting that. Staff are lovely and I am sure a more varied menu will emerge. Its nice to see the open fire again. Prices are reasonable and the interior has been given a facelift but still retains a country pub feel.

Off the main road this pub is pleasant to visit and sit outside. The staff have always been pleasant and the food and service good. There are gardens where children can play and some chickens wandering about the private garden but visible to any children interested. Unlike a previous visitor who experienced badly behaved children who probably had parent who were not fit to be parents if they could not teach them better I have never had the staff shout at me, but then they have probably never been as frustrated as their visitor by the events of that particular day. I enjoy going there because I can take my dog with me, who is far better behaved than many children and does no go around peeing everywhere. I hope this visitor will go there again before condemning the pub for the behaviour of some of its customers.

Our first visit and won't be our last. Varied menu plus some attractive specials at very reasonable prices. And most importantly the food was delicious! Maybe a half hour wait for the food to arrive but well worth the wait when it's cooked fresh. Staff were very welcoming and friendly and even able to give us a bit of history about the pub.

Another child was moving a barrier so cars couldn’t get out. Avoid this place like the plague!

I don't even know how I'm supposed to review this place, stopped in the Premier inn next door ridiculous amounts of times for work and never had a problem. Eaten in the restaurant in the past always just average for the price, but what do you expect from a brewers fayre, you pay for what you get. But, just but they have clearly changed the menu and decided to remove the chefs from the kitchen ( not proper chefs we know but hey ho) and replaced them by, I don't even know what but I wouldn't even call them microwave pushers because what I've just had I can't call food, I can't call it food because there is not actually food there. The so called wings didn't even have meat on. It was just bone coated in sauce. The pizza well photos say it all. You can actually buy better pizzas from Iceland for less than £2 and stick it in the microwave for 4 mins and this whole meal cost me just shy of £20. WOW JUST WOW
