We have made several trips for lunch lately and have been very impressed with the new menu. Seriously amazing food, a warm welcome, excellent service , and being made to feel totally at ease. Its the little things that make the difference and the team go all out to make it an event for you. The menu caters for all tastes- traditional and experimental - and the price is more than reasonable- Recommend the fish dishes, and sherry trifle, and then there is the brownie with ice cream. Planning our next visit already!

We visited for a Sunday lunch to celebrate a family birthday. The staff were friendly and efficient throughout. Nothing was too much trouble for them. The roasts were really good with plenty of everything. There was an excellent choice of courses on the menu to suit all tastes. We wouldn't hesitate to visit again but will make sure we book as they get very busy. (not surprised!)

We came here for Sunday lunch and were made to feel welcome as soon as we went in. The barman who greeted us was cheerful, friendly and attentive as were the rest of the staff who looked after us. We had the roast beef and chicken. It was one of the nicest carveries we've had, well cooked and just the right amount on the plate. The Sherry trifle we had for dessert was amazing! This might just be our new favourite place for Sunday lunch. We would definitely recommend and will be returning. Well done and thankyou to all. Lovely place.

Most pubs have no idea about standards of service. This pub however does and others could learn from them. From the time we entered and the barman greeted us and took our drink order the service was first class. Shown immediately to our table and the drinks arrived a minute later. The food order was taken and all the staff were extremely friendly including the owner. Food arrived within 10 minutes hot and nicely presented. All in all a great experience. Only comments were that wine list is small and roast potatoes were semi crisp on the outside but not cooked on inside. Would definitely recommend and will visit again. I last visited this pub over 10 years ago and the service was so poor under the previous landlord who was under the impression he was operating a 5 star Michelin pub!!

I have always been a fan of the Harrington. The beer and food has always been excellent and the price has always been very reasonable considering quantity and quality. This was the first time back in a while for a Sunday lunch and I have to say it was a dissapointment, mainly because for so many years it was so good. We didn't have beer but the usual selection was available and looked good. The service was great, as it has always been. The pub was busy so the meals were a little slow coming out but nothing to get upset about. We were shocked at the price increases on the menu. £24 for 2 courses is not the worst price for a 2 course carvery but a big increase on what we paid previously. Maybe a price increase was overdue. The starters were OK, the terrine was very tasty. I thought the prawn cocktail was a bit of a throwback. It was even served in the little prawn cocktail dish of old. The only novelty was the style of lettuce and the tiny piece of smoked salmon which seemed quite tough. The main of beef rib was a nice cut of meat layered on crisp roast potatoes. There were 3 very large potatoes under the meat which made the plate look very generous. The potatoes were weird. Although crisp they had a very thick crust which seemed to be some kind of over cooking or twice cooking so they were really hard to cut. Red cabbage and the Yorkshire were fine. The extra veg was a nice mix of green veg and a small dish of cauliflower cheese. The sauce on this was nice but I didn't compare to the old style cauliflower cheese you used to get. The portion size back then was probably too much but we always tried to finish it rather than let it go to waste. So all in all, a nice lunch that felt a bit pricey but sadly not as good as the previous visits and not something I would choose to come back for. I am sure we will return for the normal beer garden meals in the summer months but I am crossing it off my Sunday carvery list and sadly, it used to be top of it!

I'm not berating Sunday lunch buffets but there is a noticeable difference when it is prepared to order. Yorkie puds in particular. Happy to report that this busy kitchen at The Harrington that I sat right in front of had a military regime of fresh meal prep going on and we appreciated it. Lamb shanks, yorkies, fresh veg, al dente carrots, home made gravy. Really tasty and we left clean plates all round for both mains and deserts, 👏 bravo. J+S+W

Stopped by this place for a quick drink today, beer was really tasty and good value for money. The atmosphere was really nice too. Its quite tight in some places though so one of the staff accidentally bumped the pram with a sleeping baby in it with a door. (He didn't wake up - phew!) Parking was fantastic with a really large car park - plenty of space for lots of guests. Wheelchair accessibility is not so great - there is sloped areas for accessing the pub but the walkways are pretty tight. I suppose if you were determined you could make it happen.

We went without booking after a day trip out. We were originally told that there was no room for us two and our woofit, however as we made our way back to the car we were shouted back. A group were leaving giving us space to eat, and we were glad they left. The Sunday lunch was nothing but amazing! Perfect Beef, perfect cauliflower cheese, it was the best Sunday lunch I have ever had in a pub! I am from Yorkshire and the YP's tasted like they should, and were just the right consistency. My only criticism was that they had run out of panacotta and I had to have sherry trifle for pud, but we shall definately be back but will book to avoid disappointment! The staff were lovely and friendly just how they should be and it's nice to see a family run working pub than yet another franchise, it's just a job we don't care attitude. 10 out of 10....a must go if passing!!! We will see you next time I come down to Derby defo!!!

Booked a table for six plus baby in a pushchair for Sunday dinner at 3pm. Arrived at 2.55, table not ready (which was fine, we were in no hurry) but there was nowhere for us to stand. Asked by barstaff what we'd like to drink while waiting for table, ordered drinks but kept being asked to move because we were in everyone's way, trouble was there was no where to move to. When we got our table it was right in front of the double doors where they brought food from the kitchen and again we were in everyone's way and had to keep pulling our chairs in so that staff could squeeze through with hot plates of food. Had to ask for everything, no serviettes, no salt&pepper and no spoons for dessert. At the end if this chaotic experience, we had to queue for 20mins at the bar to pay the bill! The food was very good but when you are paying £22 for two course Sunday lunch you don't want to feel that you are a nuisance and in everyone's way.
