Fantastic service and food was good. Young man ran around constantly. Venue a bit dated and toilets ok but not suitable for anyone with mobility issues that needs walker or other

Been here loads of times, got the steak and ale pie which I've had before. I've never had it with loads of carrots and onions like that and I'll never get it again. It used to be the best I'd ever had and we go out to a lot of different places but I was very disappointed with it. When we asked about it we got told that the recipe hadn't changed. We know different. The menu should say steak, ale, onion and carrot pie. I don't like onion, my choice but the menu is getting limited to what I can have. Got a burger the last time I was there and the burger sauce was full of garlic, something else I don't like

We have been 3 times in the last 2 weeks all the meals we have had have been excellent

What a gem of a find this little pub is.. Called in as passing one day and it's now a regular for a weekly visit as mum likes the small plate with a desert. Food is excellent.

Never again! Manager is extremely rude and no care for customer service. Held his finger up at me when I tried to speak and did not look up from his phone. Disgusting behaviour I work in hospitality and would never hold my finger up to anyone. Food took 1 hour to arrive and it was freezing. Drinks order did not arrive for 30 minutes and the staff were all stood around talking. Manager on the phone speaking loudly throughout. They tried to charge us an extra meal on our bill and when questioned tried to state we had had that meal. Manager needs sacking staff need retraining and food needs to be warm. Won’t be returning.

I got to say the service was spectacular and the food is best we have had the Sunday dinners big portions everything is homemade and you can tell it was lovely and we will be back thank you hare and hounds for lovely home cooked meals.

So, this is something I never thought I would write. As a family we have been using the hare and hounds for around 3 years. Food was always spot on, and, service with a smile . On a Recent visit for my wife's birthday we were meet with some of the worst customer service I have experience in quite sometime. We had noticed a problem with our order and, when asking if his could be fixed we were spoken to like the scum of the earth. Unfortunately this got my back up and, when asking for a justification on why the chap felt it OK to speak to me in such a manner I was told its because he was the land lord and it was to busy. Really!. The waiting staff tried to fix the problem and apologise but by this time it was to little to late. I would of expected this to be the opposite way round with management leading from the front however, the young lady that was serving us seem more capable than the rude land lord.

This used to be really good, but now, not so much. The food is mediocre at best. The chunky chips are soggy, hot food served with salad, rather than a vegetable option. The mixed grill uses baseline quality products and is not worth the price. There are very few fish options on the menu, with no specials or seasonals. What you see is what you get. On a positive note, the staff were attentive and polite.

Food quality is fantastic portions are big so bring your appetite, Service is great and you get a warm welcome. Nothing to much trouble 5*

We got a warm welcome from the staff. The food was fantastic, really good quality ingredients and perfectly prepared, Nice range of drinks too, my wife particularly enjoyed the red wine. Happy to recommend for dinner, drinks or simply watching the game

Just came here randomly on the way home and we were so glad we did. The food was delicious and big portions. We had the rodeo burger and chicken burger. All freshly made including chips. Lovely staff and nice decor. We had our 2 babies and they were family friendly. Even had spare nappies in the loos which was good because we had left ours at home. Although this place is miles from home, we will be back.

Called in after our day out ! Omg the best food we have had in months, meat cooked to perfection and plenty of vegetables, service was quick and friendly atmosphere. Went here for our annual family Xmas lunch about 17 of us, including kids. It was absolutely amazing!! Food was delicious, hot and wow the portion sizes! Great friendly staff! Recommend anything on the menu! Thanks for making our meal so enjoyable! X

Absolutely awful. Asked which table we wanted to sit at (always a bad sign) then told we couldn't sit at that one. Went downhill from there. Food truly awful.

Been here quite a few times with family but won't be going back after today's visit.we always get my 86 year old mother in law a kids meal as she is not a big eater and has a delicate stomach.we were told it was for under 12 year olds only and she had to get full adult meal which she would not eat apparently the owner said it was against company policy even though there was 6 full paying adults and on previous visits she has always only had kids meals. Then heard staff slagging us off when asked if everything was ok with the meal and answered honestly. Well it's there loss we will go somewhere that will cater to our needs

What a hidden gem! Was invited for a meal with friends here and the food was delicious! Portions were big and the prices were very reasonable! We will be visiting again.

Had a great evening, food was fantastic and very hot when served. Server was lovely as were the owners (and cooper the dog was so sweet!) Between us we had 3 of the burgers, hotshot parm, tipsy chicken and gammon. All were fantastic. Chicken with JD sauce and Brie starters were also great. Bit disappointed with the deep fried pickles as a too much batter for me but overall everything was great including the Battenberg cheesecake and sticky toffee pudding Quiz was also great fun, just a shame there was not many people in, but overall a really good night. Would definitely return!

Granddaughters birthday meal with family. Such a great choice and everyone agreed the food was delicious. Waitress was very good meals all came to table piping hot and we all served together. Will definitely be calling in again.

We was passing this place and decided to call in for some food and it didn’t disappoint whatsoever. The food was absolutely amazing I would highly recommend it seriously . The staff were really nice the place got very busy quickly we was the first ones in . But been busy is a good sign . We will definitely be back again it’s a very nice place .

First time here for Sunday lunch and it was very nice,had the trio which consisted of beef brisket, pork and chicken with sausage in blankets,Yorkshire pudding and all the trimmings,would definitely visit again if in the surrounding area.all round it was a very enjoyable visit.

We tried to have lunch at this pub, despite a bad experience last year. The service was terrible. We ended up with a pint of beer and a bag of crisps. We then drove to "Ey Up, there's Pudding" on Lydgate in Northowram, despite the fact they were minutes away from closing, they were very friendly and made us a delicious fresh sandwich to take away.

Went for a Father’s Day meal, all the food is all freshly cooked, and everybody’s food was well presented. The pub has changed hands lots of times recently but hasn’t lost any of the quality. Is very nice and clean, the only issue we had is that the children’s meals were served on extremal hot plates.

Arrived with no booking, my first ever visit ,greeted with big smiles from all the staff and seated straightaway, menu very good,starters could have slightly more options bit main courses were excellent lamb kofta was fantastic and my steak and ale pie was delicious ,too full for pudding..apologies for breaking one of your gin glasses ,lovely place ..well worth further visits in the future !!

First ever visit for my brother's birthday, the girl serving us was nice very pleasant, a happy young girl served with a smile, the owner or manager made sure we was ok and the food was tremendous with big portions and good value surprised it wasnt busier after what we've just had but saying that it was a Wednesday night. Definitely will go again now we know about it, highly recommend

Lacked atmosphere. No warm welcome. Earliest booking I could get was for 1pm (party of 4 adults) although the place was very quiet when we were there. Not enough lamb shanks for our order so one of us had to settle for something else. Servers not properly trained and we were in danger of getting our lunch on our laps as they reached over us with full plates Not their fault, management needs to train them. The man (manager?) behind the bar was of a scruffy appearance and had an abrupt manner - perhaps he was unhappy to work on a bank holiday!. The main meal itself was plentiful and tasty, however we didn't stay for a pud or coffee due to the lack of a good or welcoming atmosphere. We won't be returning.

Never eaten here before so Booked a table for MIL birthday but had the dog with us which means the only place you can sit is ‘in the bar’ which is two tables pushed together next to the pool table. So it’s not exactly dog friendly cos there’s a limited space for you. Drinks choices are a bit poor, John smiths, landlord, coors, strongbow, etc nothing modern, no pale ales etc and if you ask for a wine menu the guy tells you it’s in his head which results in a bottle of jack rabbit. Fine for £15 but probably not what I’d have chosen if id had chance to read a list. Food didn’t take too long and was tasty however it could really have done with being a lot warmer. The plates were cold, some of the food was hot and some was just warm. Shame as we all said it was good food and not too pricy for the quality and decent portion

Family meal today ( 4 adults/3 children ) we had the private room, great service, great food, good value for money, would definitely recommend. N Regan

Disgraceful service. I called up and booked at table for 3 of us (one being a small child) for 5pm, we arrived at 4:50 to be told it was booked for half 5, I said it should be 5 so they asked us to sit at a table in the bar, which was fine. After nearly half an hour waiting with several wait staff walking past us, I asked if we could order. The man I assume the owner or manager came over and said we are still doing our 5pm service, to which I said we did book for 5 but it was put down as half past, he said well I took the booking and it’s half past, so I replied ok that’s fine but you’ve taken it down wrong. He then laughed at me… we paid for our drinks and left. We went to the white beare in Norwood green and experienced a lot better service and felt like we were valued customers. Will never go back to the hare and hounds and won’t be recommending it to anyone. Manners cost nothing.

Lovely food - vegetarian Yorks Pudding - good choice on menu but sadly short on several items as butcher not delivered today?! My friend was unable to get her first choice and then evidently only one burger left in kitchen on her second choice despite several burger choices on menu and this on an early evening booking. Glad to see the dreadful orange padded wall has now disappeared and a warm log burner installed in its place. Flashing fairy lights on ceiling a bit distracting. Not many eating tonight so room felt quite empty. Overall OK but as this is my friend's second visit with issues with availability on the menu we would probably not re visit. Thank you.

Amazing food. Lovely bar man made us feel very welcome and was great with the kids. Said flat cap man quite rude from offset and not very friendly with our children either. Not one waitress smiled, which made me wonder if flat cap man had made them miserable behind the scenes too. Other than him, great place, really good food and good value for money on Sunday menu portion sizes were huge. Will go back but will try dodge the flat cap guy.

First visit and will return. Menu a bit out of sorts but after Christmas ,to be expected. Warm and welcoming.

We went on a recommendation. Early doors at 5.30, and there was space. We had nachos starter for 2, which was very good, main course we both had lamb koftas which were very good as well. Service was great, beer selection was good and the price was very reasonable. All in all, an excellent early evening meal, we will definitely be back.

Visited the Hare and Hounds today (Sunday)around lunchtime, we didn’t book a table, but the staff went over and above to find a table for us. The food was fantastic. It’s very busy on a Sunday and I’m not surprised, so I will book next time. The staff are friendly and helpful. Highly recommend the Pig out dish on a Sunday,the pork is to die for. Excellent lunch, friendly staff, re-booked already.

Greeted with a very friendly gentleman (think he was the owner) and think it's new management since we last went. He explained that everything is made fresh hence the wait for food. Waiter also very friendly. Took our drinks and food order. Had Halloumi fries for starter and they made a nice fresh spicy sauce, both delicious. Pulled pork sandwiches, packed with pork, again super filling and tasty, pork was not dry but lovely and tender as we like it. Will definitely return to try the meals on the menu.

Good food nicely presented and nice selection of beer, venue is clean and homely, small plate option really good for those on diet or need smaller portions, wife demolished steak pie, mash and veg and the extra gravy provided made her happy, she said the taste was excellent. You got a pudding with the small plate option but only one choice which although tasty was microwaved a little too much and dried the edges but still tasty

Just fantastic Sunday lunch so much food had a really good time with family the young lady that served us was so good with my granddaughter as she is only 3 but very demanding to what she likes the food was very very good also came to the table hot will definitely be back.

Went for the second time in 2 weeks, loved it! The food is homemade, cooked to order and very plentiful. Their burgers are something else, so much choice and very different served in a brioche bun with well cooked chips, mixed salad and coleslaw - excellent! Hubby had a steak n ale pie full of meat with a shortcrust topping, great chips, peas n extra gravy - very good too. Can't wait to return with the girlies!

Booked a table early doors and made sure our small dog was welcome even though it does say they are dog friendly but wanted to double check..on arrival we were told abruptly to go in the room to our right after entering through the rear door. It turned out to be a small tap room with 2 tables of 4 chairs, a pool table, television and no music which i asked for....we were dissapointed to be told to sit in there and felt secluded from the dining area....a family of 4 came in and sat on the other table and saying this place is not pet friendly having to sit where we were..food was just ok....pastry topping on the pie was not cooked thoroughly and pale looking and fish was not brilliant....hence, to say now we won't be going again....

Beautiful food, sat outside. The outside needs a bit of tlc, grass cut, tables sanding and painting. The food made up for that.

Meals were excellent. Couldn't fault quality and portion size. Coffee machine was not working and they didn't have bottled water so one of our group couldn't have a drink
