The Golden Fleece in Calderdale

The restaurant should of said they were full rather than squeezing to many people in. Led to me having to stand everytime someone wanted to move. The toilets were out of order and the staff were over whelmed. The food was good (pork belly) but limited options led to the specials consisting of only spaghetti bolognaise. This is my second visit and the standards where worlds apart. I won't be returning unfortunately as I felt I couldn't get out fast enough for the staff who wanted to turn the table

Service not quite as good as normal but it was very busy

All the staff are very welcoming and efficient. Food is amazing - 7 empty plates - delicious. Highly recommended- we've been coming here for years and always exceptional food and service.

Had a great time. The food was very good. The staff were very helpful. I highly recommend going to this place. Will definitely be returning again.

Couple of good ales on and excellent food

Went with a party of friends the food was good after we waited for an hour for it to be served.while people who arrived after us where being served within ten minutes of arriving.Staff sent to be struggling and need to up there game.Would think twice before returning.

It's just a very average pub doing food which is fine. The only criticism I have is the value for money side of the food. The quality is good but it does seem to be playing on presentation to drive the prices to what they are, which is at the upper end of pub food. I think the margin on food is significantly higher than similar places locally.

Very disappointed with the Ossett blonde had to take it back, which is unusual for the Ossest Blonde. Had our drinks outside unfortunately due to a strong unpleasant odour in the bar area

Excellent restaurant in a beautiful location with amazing views of the hills and fields all around. A good selection of beers, ciders and wines available as well as cocktails and soft drinks. Very eclectic menu with options inspired by cuisines from all around the world and at reasonable prices.

Very nice location overlooking the valley. The food was of a high quality and the service attentive but not intrusive. The best of both worlds for us! We would definitely recommend a visit, but call ahead to book as it is very popular. When we're back in the area we will try to revisit.

Dog friendly although the locals appeared slightly offput by the dog been there. Few seats outside but have to walk through the car park tk get there. Good service. Nice friendly staff. Food homecooked and really filling. Watch out for the cat though if you have a dog

Went for the first time yesterday with my six year old and we both had a great time. My daughter recommended we go back as she likes the chips so much, and the pizzas were great. If you sit outside there are beautiful views to take in. Will definitely be coming back.

Food was very good, staff very pleasant they do large and small portion so if you don't have a big appetite you can have a small portion .

Have come home starving after having good food and service before at this place....what's happened???? Ordered mains, partners food was lovely, he said. Mine stone cold(apart from roast potatoes which were above 40 degrees) I had roast lamb Sunday dinner. COLD. Nobody came to check, so I was left with a full plate of food, Nobody came to check so I couldn't complain. Eventually when my partner had finished, we waved somebody over and said my food was very cold on arrival. The lady offered to do something about it, but by now, he had an empty plate, and I wasn't about to eat alone. She didn't charge me for my main course..... but I hadn't eaten anything!!Thank you for that. Abominable service, and shan't be returning, used to be really good here.

Service was attentive but rather slow. Large portions of acceptable food. Nothing special but certainly acceptable.

Sunday lunch last weekend - a game of two halves! My fish meal was well presented and tasted great however my husbands steak pie meal was like hospital food. He was given a plate of slop, literally, very runny mushy peas instead of the garden peas he requested, burnt chips and Pedigree chum can dregs with a bizarre god knows what inch deep 'crust' on top. He dutifully ate it. We went to pay at the bar as the waitresses were all behind it and when I asked what the 'pastry' was the staff had no idea but asked one of the customers propping up the bar on the other side. She was off duty staff and chortled it was maybe shortcrust pastry, but couldn't verify the quality as depends who cooked! We joined in the laughter, as you do not to cause offence and were then given the wrong bill. As a side note, the decor was ropey, some 80s throwback framed horsey prints mixed with B & M glitterati. Black mould around the window frames and in the ceiling corners sealed the deal. Needless to say we won't be going here again, pity, it's in a beautiful part of Calderdale.

The steak pie with shortcrust pastry was the strangest pie i have come across the pastry was 1cm+ and had the look and texture of cake… when i enquired about the strange look taste and texture the staff shrugged and said they didnt know much about it.. the filling such as it was mainly gravy with small pieces of meat … resembled a marks n spencers ready meal.. certainly will not try this venue again as we were also given the wrong bill to end the experience

Totally under staffed. Waited a very long time for drinks even longer for food. When food did arrive it wasn't what I'd ordered. I was even questioned by the staff if i was sure I hadn't ordered the meal which came out! Rude ! Non of them looked like they even wanted to be there. Very disappointing.

Excellent food and a really nice beer garden overlooking the cricket club.

First time we've been and would definitely go again. Sunday roast was fantastic. Good value for money. Nice atmosphere.

Brilliant Bespoke food with a great Menu and warm hospitality a must visit for tea times.

Dropped in last minute with a sprinter campervan...fab...very friendly staff, really lovely waitress (long brown hair)... very helpful....lovely Sunday lunch.... good portion sizes ....will be back when we are on our travels again.

Possibly very nice if you're wanting to eat, however if you're wanting a drink or more specifically a drink with a pub-like atmosphere, then keep walking.

A long while since we were last here but we booked again straight away, fantastic all round, beer excellent, food excellent and most importantly the staff excellent

Traditional pub in a beautiful area with great views and a large car park. A lot of young waiting staff who are very friendly and helpful. Menu is very meat/fish orientated so not many options for Vegetarian or Vegans. If you want a Sunday roast there is no nut roast, pie or veggie sausage just vegetables are offered. Basically they just remove the meat from the Sunday roast 🙄 I was very disappointed. If you eat meat and fish there is plenty of choice. A great choice of cocktails, spirits and beers. They also do smaller portions as well as larger portions to cater for different appetite and a gluten free option . Dog friendly.

Food was delicious and portion sizes are great! Would recommend if you have a starter getting a small main unless your super hungry! Services was fantastic and staff were friendly. I will be returning!

Went for a late Xmas meal in January, a party of 12 and the food was absolutely amazing, on that experience alone I would recommend 👌🏽

Disappointing second visit as the menu had been restricted and so my wife and I struggled to get a vegan option. Food was not quite as good as the first visit either. Wine was lovely and everyone friendly.

Been past this so many times, but never been in. Phoned up last minute and they could squeeze us in. Plenty parking, excellent service and food was brilliant. Would definitely stop by again.

4 of us went for a Saturday lunch, 2 meals were good, 1 OK and one very disappointing. My wife has the seabass, which was just about ok My son had the sirloin steak, which gets a big thumbs up My uncle has the fish and chips and likewise a thumbs up. I had probably the worst steak pie ever, literally a top crust pie, with virtually no meat, floating in a large dish of gravy with mushy peas also floating in the gravy. Chips were wrinkled and cold. There were just two people serving, so everything was a bit slow, and I had to ask for menus twice Anyway, steak and fish and chips were solid 4s, the seabass a 3 and the a 1 for the pie, overall a 3.

The service, food, atmosphere and prices as excellent as always + a welcome surprise with a good new range of apetizing starters. 👏👏

Been here numerous times and always have a great meal and few pints. Sunday lunch was beef which was ample fodder.

Having been recommended the Fleece we experienced today a really delicious lunch. The choice was very good & we had different mains which tasted superb pleasing ourselves & followed up enjoying a sumptuous dessert. Throughout we had some Red, White Wine which were great value plus again was spot on. All in all we will be definitely be back & look forward to our next Visit, additionally we would like to thank the Staff who were very attentive throughout.

We haven’t been for a while and decided at last minute to go for our tea , we have always enjoyed every visit in the past and this one was no different, made welcome on arrival and seated immediately great service from friendly staff and the food was excellent, quality and great value we rebooked before we had finished our meal, we highly recommend you to share what The Golden Fleece as to offer

4 of us for a family get together Bar prices very expensive pint of coke and a pint of carlsberg £9 but after getting our bill with same on it should of been £8 any way food was large portions and very well presented and tasty waiting staff was excellent and had afew laughs with them

We had a great experience dining at the golden fleece with family. The service was second to none. Our dog was also made welcome 😁

They didn't provide a high chair so we couldn't eat there. For the sake of £20 from IKEA, they lost £150. The message that this sends is that they don't want families. Shame. We'll go somewhere else for our business.

The food is exceptional!! I have dined at nearly all local restaurants but none can beat the Golden Fleece. I cannot sing their praises loud enough. The half size meals are one good reason for my enthusiasm.

Lovely Saturday early dinner. A good service from the ladies but the drinks were a little late in coming. The sea bass was very good but I gave three stars as they charged us for two belly pork without us ordering.

Came to Lymm for a family day out and I can't recommend the Golden Fleece enough. Me, my mrs and two kids came for some food. The service was fantastic, the staff were great (especially with my youngest who can be very fussy when it comes to his food) but nothing seemed too much trouble - even though they were clearly very busy. We will definitely come back!

Went as a walk in. No High chairs FYI. Was rushed to order - twice - less than 5 minutes of sitting even though the pub was 2/3 empty. Ordered a Sea Bass, Cod and Prawn burger.. ended up with Sea Bass on veg.. very odd. Didn't bring any chips with it either had to ask. Not a child friendly pub. Staff may need a bit of training. Nice food however with what we did get in the end but probably don't order the cod, sea bass and Prawn burger!

Can't recommend highly enough, what a fantastic pub for food. We went on a Saturday afternoon and the food was absolutely spot on. Steak and ale pie was probably the best I've ever had. Cosy atmosphere inside, friendly service, easy access from motorway and main routes. Good size of onsite parking available.

An absolute gem of a place that really you don’t want everyone to know about ! Excellent, attentive service and food prepared and cooked on site! Bring dog too - hard to hunt these place out but they re very accommodating.

Have been here in the past but not for a while,saw a promotion for the new menu so thought we'd give it try. We were pleasantly surprised to see that they did smaller portions for most of the main courses which a lot of places don't do and there was more than enough food,will certainly go back

Lovely country pub, just had lunch, very good choices on menu, excellent food and very friendly staff. Will definitely tell my friends and be visiting again.

The menus were on scrumpled, grubby pieces of A4 copier paper. Service was slow, we had to ask when our drinks were arriving. Tables too small and too close to other diners.

Absolutely lovely food and service. The only let down was staff smoking in the doorway as people are entering and exiting. To be honest we could smell the smoke inside but luckily we had finished our food. If we had of been eating it would of put us off to going again and that would of been a shame as the food was excellent.

Food excellent but some staff difficult to attract Attention for some reason we needed drinks and wanted to order from Menu but seemed quite frustrating but didn't let it spoil our night ! This being a first family get-together since covid Otherwise 5 stars

Went to try out in this restaurant and did not expect the Capocollo are that delicious. The staff here are quite friendly and they told me that their chef are an Italian. Will definitely go to try other cuisine if i get another chance

The food is so good, beautifully presented. Have been coming for a few years and it just gets better and better. The staff are exceptional, kind fun and efficient. And the best thing in these times of rapidly rising prices everywhere, great value for money. They only place I have been in the last couple of months, that I don't feel just a bit 'ripped off'. Highly recommended

We used to visit the Golden Fleece regularly and always enjoyed the food and service. Unfortunately, our experience at the weekend was a real let down. We couldn’t get to the bar for customers sat front row and were then met with confused young staff who didn’t know what drinks they served, or if menus were required. My choice of meal was not a reflection of the enticing description on the menu. Then when my husband requested coffee and brandy to be told it was a pub with no brandy. We asked for the bill 3 times and waited quite a while in between. Great location and nice table though.

Lokal położony przy rzadko uczęszczanej ulicy. W środku dość klimatycznie, w angielskim stylu. Niezły wybór piw. Jedzenie było bardzo dobre, wszystko co zjadłem smakowało zarówno przystawka jak i główne danie były ok. Obsługa lokalu bardzo miła, uśmiechnięta. Potrawy otrzymaliśmy bardzo szybko po około 10-15 minutach.

Really lovely staff, so friendly and polite. Lovely menu with the option for smaller sizes. Ordered the fish, chips and peas and couldn't fault it. Quick service and lovely atmosphere. Will be back again!
