Pear Tree in Calderdale

What a lovely pub, I was stood up so left eating alone after reserving a table (!) but the staff were great, the food was lovely, great value for money and the music was brilliant lol. These are the kinds of pubs I think we need to make sure we keep, a proper pub :-) Views across the back are amazing too 👌

Food was cold beef was tuff the roast potatoes had been sat there for a few hours tasted old starters was nice nice though cancelled the pudding as the main put us all off coke was flat

Lovely village pub loads of space ,and seating outside . Enjoying couple pints of cider while looking out into the countryside. Great little place .

On impulse we popped in for a quick drink on our local walk. The service was prompt and friendly and the decor was good. The food some diners were having looked appetising. We enjoyed sitting in the outdoor seating area and we would be happy to have a meal there on another visit. Update: today we went for tea and thoroughly enjoyed our food. Lovely atmosphere too.

Came here for tea with my partner I ordered a brisket burger and my partner got a chilli burger and omg these did not disappoint was absolutely delicious will definitely be coming back , excellent service so happy

Went for the quiz night, £3 per person. Came with chips and a selection of pizza, both of which were tasty. Staff and regulars were friendly.

Lovely Sunday lunch and options of portion sizes.

A delicious pizza made by hand and a warm environment filled with people bringing their dogs.

Went in on the off chance of getting food whilst travelling through. We were made very welcome. Told there would be a 15-20 minute wait for a table. This was worth the wait. Had the carvery, everything cooked beautifully. We both cleared our plates. The staff were very attentive without being over the top. Really enjoyed the food. Great service.

Lovely seating area outside, inside was a bit dated! All old men around the bar, couldn't get near bar to be served! 2 massive TVs in bar area. Takes away the cost place it could be! Also, expensive, 2 pints and 2 packets of crisps £14.00

We went to pie club and the pies are delicious! They’re all freshly homemade and quite big too, the meal will leave you full. Highly recommend, I now understand why they sell out so fast.

as always impeccable I had the 10oz ribeye and my partner had the Penne Contadina, will never not swear by the pear tree, been going since I was a child back in the day and never won't be the first port of call for a home made hearty meal, a jolly vibe and the best music taste in the county.

Great friendly staff, lovely atmosphere 80s music playing, not not loud. Cake and drink fabulous price!

First pub I went to of the many I visited when I visited England from Australia and again just before flying back because it had great staff, a genuine feel like your in a genuine pub with the real locals not another corporate chain faking a tourist experience of an english pub. Filled with friendly patrons to share a beer with and have a laugh. Great staff and the food that left me satisfied and come back for more. Can't wait to come back on my next trip and highly recommend it for a visit if passing through the area.

My wife used to work there 30 years ago, so walking back in was quite literally a blast from the past for her. There was a lovely man with glasses behind the bar who made us feel very welcome. We had a platter to share, which is a combination of starters, which was nice pub quality food. The staff member definitely made the experience dye to his friendliness and attentiveness.

Lovely chap, dog friendly pub, good menu choice (I had Hunters chicken) with lots of outside seating, on decking and near the car park. Cake/brownies etc looked tasty but order when ordering your meal so the last piece isn't taken!

A good experience with large beer gardens and a good selection of real ales. Call again soon and have a meal.

Great place. Food was excellent, I had the wagyu steak burger. The staff were friendly and very helpful. I would definitely recommend this pub especially if you want to bring your dog as it is exceptionally dog friendly.

Lovely little place. Food was quickly served and delicious. Just a little out of the way, but was welcoming. Pet friendly too, with a couple of dogs there.

First time here. Food was barely warm and the sweet potato fries were full of fat and most of them were burnt. The service was very good but was very disappointed with the food.

This was our first time here and we were not disappointed. We were made to feel very welcome from the start. We ordered the sharing board, we were very impressed with the presentation and the amount of food. We enjoyed every bit of the meal and will be coming again (very soon)

Attended a wedding on site, well catered with casual afternoon lunch of sandwiches and warm sausage rolls, which were kept well topped up by the staff all afternoon, then later on pizza, chips, salad were supplied in the marquee.l (including food intolerance options) Staff were dealing with the wedding party and regular pub goers, on a sunny and very busy Saturday afternoon/evening and football was on. The pub, beer garden and our party kept them busy. Prices were very reasonable for drinks and staff served quickly at either the outdoor or indoor bar areas. Shame when it cooled off a little there weren't any patio heaters as it was a nice night but got a little too breezy to sit out without big coats. Overall a very positive experience would go to again.

Went in for a Sunday lunch but they didn't do them, but did do beef baguette with roasties and Yorkshire pudding, why not add veg and do a proper lunch. The rest of the menu was decent but very expensive. Didn't feel welcome, stared at by locals as we came in and left! Stayed 19 mins had a drink and left.

What's better at the end of a day that's been an uphill struggle then going to a friendly pub with good food and great beer. To cut a long story short, today was one of those days you really don't need. So the best tonic was to head to the pear tree. It's one of those places you can guarantee 'everyone knows your name'. We arrived for food late fully expecting not to get served but nothing was too much trouble, and we ordered some nibbles. The food came hot. We ordered chicken wings and sweet fries. The service was second to none. The atmosphere was congenial with great background music. I cannot recommend the pear tree to highly.

The Pear Tree went above and beyond today! We thought we'd missed the cut off point as we arrived at 8pm, however the kitchen staff were so kind to allow us to order a few bits of food. Wonderful service and friendly staff. The food was yummy, two variations of deep fried chicken (one with buffalo hot sauce, one without) and sweet potato fries. Perfectly cooked and seasoned, they were the perfect accompaniment with the beer. The service was fast & the food was well presented. We chose Beavertown Neck Oil which was delicious hoppy and pale. The whole thing was quite reasonably priced at £33 for three small dishes and two pints of beer. Very impressed with the Pear Tree today with both their food and staff. I already knew the venue itself was lovely as I've been a customer here for many years. Thank you for a lovely experience today! If I could rate them 6 stars I would, purely for the friendly and accommodating staff members.

I would just like to say thsnkyou so much for my sons bday here. He really enjoyed trying to take on the pizza challenge unfortunately he didn't manage it lol. The food was so nice and the portions were huge definitely will he back thankyou again

Car park a little small but plenty going off here for the little ones. Plenty of room for outside dining in decent weather. Food very nice. Just a little difficult trying to manoeuvre to serve yourself, with peas and carrots going onto floor making it slippy. However staff cleaned it quite quickly. May be better with a full counter rather than rails. Nice day out.

Found drinks rather expensive over £3 for a glass of lemonade. Food is very nice, although two standed meals were not available. There are high steps to get in,so any mobility issues would be a problem.

Our favourite little place to go to after a nice walk in the woods 😊 Pizza is lovely here and they do gluten free food also!

We phoned on the off chance for a table this Sunday lunchtime and fortunately they managed to squeeze us in. We received a warm welcome here and the staff were brilliant throughout, as was the clientele. The Sunday carvery was quality and a choice of three sizes, all was cooked to perfection in particular the beef. Our first time here, but definitely not the last.

Been going in the pear tree for a long time. Staff are great, food is great pub food. Great atmosphere all the time, bands, sport and in the summer the outside area is perfect

We had a beautiful Sunday carvery which we could not fault, all beautifully cooked and plenty of choice. Good beers and an all round good atmosphere and experience.

Tried a carvery for first time but wish I hadn't. We had pork but most of it was fat the roast potatoes was tuff some of the veg was hard the gravy was like water plus they put it on too smaller plate. We have tried the pizza before and they was nice but pricey. But certainly wouldn't recommend the carvery.....I'm afraid it's Toby for us.

Only popped in for a quick pint in the sun but do see all the additional features the pub has developed, outdoor areas, inside is old style pub which u like and it looks like a lot of activities are running from quizzes to team events to food. Really good beer selection which is nice to see and always a range of gins, vodka and whisky, will call again maybe for food and longer drinking session, music was really good my era playing and pub feels like a good social place to be

Friendly staff adequate parking and set in a quiet village

Pizza excellent very poor choice of handpulled beer to wash it down. Landlord and Tetleys are not my favourites by any means. Staff excellent as was food

There were 16 of us who came after a SouthouRAMblers walk and the food was divine. The sample desserts were absolutely gorgeous and we would highly recommend.
