Super place with excellent meals. Staff very friendly.

Welcoming greeting and readily seated with menus immediately in hand really good. Drink order taken and delivered to table fast. Order for food taken rather slower and then the delay for food service set in. There was no-one else for food service but it stretched to the limit of 32 minutes. The food was superb and congratulations must be awarded to the pub for being able to serve proper french mustard with meat dishes. Generally this was a great pub to visit and eat in - especially after a lengthy hike. The final comment is that the toilets were clean and the whole experience was enjoyable.

It's great here, would absolutely recommend. If you like fish and chips you can get a very sizeable portion here! They have Beavertown Neck Oil ale which is a bonus

Absolutely abysmal! We waited 1 hour for food, when it arrived it left much to be desired. I ordered a starter fish coujons, I got 4 tiny pieces for £6.75! And, it was cold. I took it back to the bar and asked if that was a normal portion size, one server just glared at me, the other answered 'yes.... unfortunately'. I remarked that I wouldn't be ordering that again as it was a blatant rip off! A few minutes later, what seemed to be the manager, came out and said the chef was making more. She came back after 10 minutes with 4 larger pieces, banged the dish on the table, shot me a filthy look and marched back into the pub! I was sat with 2 others, we all looked at each other and laughed....it was so awful rude! The sandwich looked ok, but the fish and chips was below par to say the least. That, alongside terrible customer service, we won't be going back there again....the staff are downright scary! 😳🤣 Would give minus stars if I could!!!

To start of I would like to say the food was shocking the chips were not cooked and for the money paid was not worth it the staff were rude and made us feel uncomfortable the staff need to learn a lesson or be sacked since they were appalling aswell we had to wait an hour for the food so I recommend not to go there. Had lunch here a few weeks ago and the chips were soft and black.we hadn't eaten all day and ate most just as you would at home if you didn't think it was good.did mention to l presume was a New owner but got fobed off saying she can't get the right potato cos of the weather.l go to about 2 chip shops a week on my rides out as a treat and they all perfect,so don't know why she's a problem.l didn't tell her l was a chef year's ago and worked at the best hotel's in the lake's so know a thing or to about cooking.id have put money on the fact they we're jacket potatoes hence the moisture content that resulted in the being soggie and the black was over cooking in a attempt to crisp them.would have not bother with the bad feedback if she had have been apologetic or even offered to knock the chip's off seeing she was aware they were wrong, even the waitress didn't say, sorry about the chips.l hope they improve their customers care and chip's! Maybe a one off with her supplies but don't charge for something you know isn't right,just deduct the chips and you'll find there's a good chance they Will return.been to eat there many time's before and everything as been fine but didn't recognise her before, hence wondered if it had changed hands.

Love this place. Olde Worlde,. characterful country pub with low beams, log fires and such like. Great beers. Decent prices. Great service. LOVE IT. 9,5/10 👍👍👍👍

On a visit from Glasgow we were taken to this Inn. The food was amazing and it was especially helpful that smaller portions were available as the elderly relatives who were with us are not large eaters. Having said that the portions were still very generous The staff were so friendly and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. Fellow diners were also really nice The only reason I didn’t give five stars for everything is that there was a rowdy bunch at the bar and we could barely hear ourselves think and they should have been asked to quieten down a little

Just passing through on a road trip spurr of the moment decision to pop in for food and we are so glad we did. Great sellection of food and portions. Excellent service and relaxing atmosphere.

Brilliant value for large and small appetites. Also has a specials board for something different, unlike the Sportsman up the road, where they've got rid of their specials board and menu has become boring

The visit was fine everyone enjoyed their food unfortunately I had soup and it was unedible but to be fair I wasn't charged and the staff completely agreed ! Don't think anyone had tasted before it was sent out It did put me off !

Ordered a starter of grilled halloumi, very nice , not too salty . The main course was fish and chips, one large and one small. I made the mistake of ordering the large one , it was HUGE, and the chips were amazing, far too much for me. Sensible option small if you have a starter. Some of the best fish and chips ever.

Great idea having small size main meals at lunchtime. Perfect amount rather than a huge meal. - more room for pud.... Good quality nicely presented.

Always a good atmosphere. Food usually good. Husband had steak and kidney pudding chips and peas said very nice but very filling and would try small portion next time. I had cajun chicken sandwich and curly fries it was ok not as good as I have had before. Chicken alittle overdone and not very much in sandwich.

Amazing fish and chips!! The best I've had in a very long time. The fish was huge and covered the plate!! Highly recommend.

Excellent food if not a little rich. If you don't want an extremely generous portion, it's definitely worth asking for a small plate. Extremely friendly welcoming staff. We will after our first visit last week return.

We were a party of 20 mixed ages from 11 months to 60 they Lady serving was fantastic great with the kids made sure they had all they needed nothing too much trouble highly recommend the food it was spot on and a good selection of beers ales and wine .thank you I will be back

Just been for a scooter club meal with nearly 20 of us. Food was excellent, cooked well and presented nicely and at a reasonable price. The service was great and really friendly. Many thanks from all of us would and will definitely recommend.

The food was average to poor. I was missing half of my (pre made) cheese cake base and it tasted like sand. The service was rude. We each asked to pay our share of the bill and we were told to "tell us before you book if you want to split the bill". We had worked out the bill and not asked to split it, just pay our part. Would not recommend. Also the Beef Christmas Dinner 'with all the trimmings' had nothing additional compared to a normal roast. The Turkey had a pig in blanket and when we asked if we were supposed to get one with the beef, we received a short sharp 'no'

Had Christmas lunch menu which was very good. It would have been an idea to tell you that 2 bottles of house wine between a table of 4 was included. We ordered drinks at the bar on arrival for our booking, ie a bottle of wine which, unfortunately was not the house wine.

A it scrumptious plate of good healthy comfort food with a great choice of beers. All excellent value for money.

Ridiculous pub! Doesn't allow dogs in the pub which I can understand as they serve food. But they refused to serve us chips if we didn't sit under the canopy despite the fact that we had a baby and people, understandably, were smoking under the canopy. We were literally sat at a table a meter away. Offer to carry the chips out myself but still the lady behind the bar refused. Unhelpful and joke of a place tbh

Lovely friendly staff and food that would satisfy any hungry visitor, the prices are very reasonable and the quality of food on the menu would take some beating. We will visit again for sure!

Went passed this pub on the bus one day and saw how busy the car park was,so thought we'd give it a try,it was very nice,just one thing it said outside that food was served all day but we arrived at 2 minutes to 2 and only had until 2pm to get the order in!!

Great food friendly staff and a great atmosphere.

This is an all round great pub which is always busy. It has an excellent selection of beers, lagers and wines including some premium wines which is unusual for a pub. The food is excellent, the menu has all of the traditional classics but with a few modern additions. Well worth a visit.

The absolute perfect example of a country pub!! Welcoming atmosphere, really great beer and what looked like great food. Unfortunately don’t allow dogs inside but there is some covered and heated seating outside. Great pub!!

Recently went for a meal and was very disappointed, the starter Yorkshire pudding with gravy was a single small Yorkshire pudding which cost £5 wasn't worth it. My main was a pork steak which was so thick I could hardly cut it and it was very tough I left it don't think I would return.

Really lovely lunch. Great choice of food & the chips are among the best around. Will definitely be back for more.

We've been here 3 times within a month ( 9 miles) .the food , drink and service is exceptional, take a healthy appetite with you as the portions are v.generious, 1/2 amounts available, but still enough, won't be long b4 we visit again. Ps. Good toilets, and car park 👌

If you're wanting a heart worming home made meal this is the place to come. You won't find anywhere better. The prices are really good too.

Very disappointing meal. Stroganoff was extremely bland and disinteresting. Not sure when we will coming again. **As a update, we have eaten here previously and enjoyed our food, but this was just not up to scratch
