Superb food beautifully served in a great atmosphere. Excellent service from very helpful staff. The entertainment was a pleasant background to an enjoyable evening.

Pre booked, restricted but varied 2 course evening meal (starter and main). Able to have a leasurely enjoyable meal with wife. Food absolutely perfect accompanied by a fine wine. Standard of service excellent. Andy and Jenni, mine hosts have set high standards which disseminates down through staff. A pleasure to compliment Chef. That's wife's birthday meal sorted out for September. This bistro is a "MUST" for that special occasion!

A family visit for eight people was our first visit to this restaurant. Right in the centre of old Newark, bit tricky with parking, but well worth it. A fairly small dining room, with very unusual but really effective decor. A very affable owner, excellent food and wine and to top it all a first class "rat pack" style singer. Staff were friendly and competent and the whole evening was a delight. Do try to visit when Matt, the vocalist is doing his weekly(?) gig.

Lovely little bistro which sells ice cream. Ordered at the counter, and asked to take a seat and it would be brought to us. What fabulous service just for 3 ice creams. Lovely location overlooking the river. Ice cream was delicious too!

This is a small, tastefully decorated and comfortable café close to the river Trent and Newark Castle, with public (paid) car parking right outside. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable, coffees, beers, snacks and light meals are good, and the prices are fair.

Possible to sit outside in warm weather, with view over the quay, the river and the clock tower. Inside is quirky, comfortable and charming. Food is always hot (where appropriate), always well-served and the cakes are to die for!

Great find on our biking day out. We were half way round and the breakfast food was a must. The owner was really friendly and the kitchen staff were great. The girl who served us was lovely. Will definitely come back again next time we do this route.

I recently visited with some friends who are elderly. Noticed that they now have a waiting list and a buzzer service. We was all made to wait outside for over 20 minutes for a table. Told to go round the garden center to see if there is anything we would like to buy. Yet there was lots of empty tables and people coming back empty handed after walking round garden center. The point of the matter is if we wanted to buy something we would of. Not being tricked or forced into buying things. It's very clear to see that the garden center sales are down as now they are forcing people into buying. We will not be calling back till this buzzer episode is removed. So now not only have they lost sales in coffee shop also in garden center.... There are better places in the local area....

Just what you want from a roadside cafe, I wouldn't stop at a chain cafe unless I have to!!

Very disappointed. Probably the worst lunch I have had. The beef was tough, the yorkshire pudding was doughy. It was difficult to cut the roast potatoes, and the broccoli wasn’t cooked. Another meal wasn’t hot, and we to wait a long time for our meals.
