I visited this resturant when I was last in Plymouth in 2021, it was so good I returned 3 years later. It still has a great seafood menu and serves nicely cooked fish. All this and amazing views of the boats on Sutton Harbour.

Really disappointed came here with my son and food was really greasy and over £85 for the two of us. I always wanted to try it but will not be coming back.

Service was decent but had the mussels, one of my favourite dishes, the portion was generous but the mussels were overcooked and a little flavourless

I recently came here with my Fiancé for our anniversary and had a lovely meal! The atmosphere is gorgeous and it was lovely and warm, and we had come in from the rain so really appreciated it. The view of the port was amazing as well. The staff were very quick and attentive to our needs. We had some starters (halloumi fries and white bait) and they were incredible. Delicious and generous portion sizes.b For mains, we had the fish tacos and Holy moly, they were incredible. Not too spicy, flavoursome and a perfect portion. The only issue we had was that we were sat by a door so when people did come in it was a rush of cold air. Luckily it only happened once or twice, but wasn't enough to knock a star off.

We have been wanting to visit this place for a while Arriving at the start of service we were placed in a window seat Decided on 1 starter and 2 mains - seafood cocktail and 2 seafood platters Drinks arrived - my coffee was tepid The starter arrived and it looked a promising start, it went downhill from then onwards Hubby was still eating the starter as the waitress tried to clear it it away - oh well we thought Seafood platter next - but what arrived was an battered oily disaster Everything on the platter was battered and dripping in oil including the plate, the accompanying sauces, one has so much garlic in it that was all you could taste during the meal The waiting staff asked if it was ok and we just went yeah ( we had only just had the food served) The meal was so bad that neither of us could finish it, the calamari was like chewing on string, the crab fish cakes ( if you can call them that were overcooked) the prawns due to the amount of battered was just like eating oil, the whole meal was just swimming in oil as the plate was covered The waitress did ask if we wanted the left over food in a takeaway container but to be honest we couldn’t face it Added to the fact by this time the restaurant was like an oven , it was so hot we couldn’t breathe and there was no air circulation This meal cost £73 which is steep for two, especially as we have just come back from abroad and we were eating far better food for 4 adults for less money The disappointment in this meal means we will NOT return or recommend

tasteless cod (I highly recommend replaice the oil occasionally in the fish pan) sweet taste of mushy peas, very strong taste of carry sauce. Not nice at all

Visited on a wet and wild Sunday night, so it was fairly quiet in the restaurant, we had intended for a takeaway and a walk, but weather had other ideas. Really clean, good choice on the menu, both went for haddock and chips, portion sizes just right washed down with a beer and wine. Staff really friendly and polite. Looking forward to our next trip to Plymouth so we can visit again

Excellent choices of fresh seafood, served in a clean and tidy restaurant by friendly staff. Conveniently located adjacent to the Barbican area of shops and other amenities.

Absolutely amazing lunch cod and chips best we’ve had! Very attentive service waitress was really lovely and helpful, we will definitely be back when we visit Plymouth again. Just amazing.

We have avoided for a year after tremendously poor service however after trying again it’s much worse. Food is good, front of house staff could not be more disinterested if they tried. Texting on their phones and having a laugh together instead of waiting tables. It’s so sad that the service here has nosedived even further. Absolutely wouldn’t recommend. Avoid.

Lovely place to stop for a coffee

Booked in this evening for my brothers 30th was extremely quiet, service was mediocre considering how quiet it was, starters were good , and in all fairness the rest of the party enjoyed there mains but the crab and clam chowder was somewhat a glorified veg soup with about 3 clams and the odd sprinkle of brown crab meat. Bearly ate it and told the waitress about it only to be told it was the most popular dish on the menu well wim sure it is for someone that loves a veggie soup. There was no apology no removal of it off the bill. What a joke. Wouldn’t recommend and I certainly wouldn’t recommend the “seafood chowder”

Really impressive service, delicious food and reasonably priced considering the prime location. Reserve a table by the window fit a lovely view over the harbour.

We accidentally came in through the back door, which faces the harbour, but nobody seemed to mind. The menu was a mix of traditional British fish and chips, and more modern alternatives like tacos and monkfish curry. All the mains come with unlimited chips (you can request more at any point) but the amount that we were served was just right. The batter was crispy on the fish, the tartar sauce was tangy, and our daughter said the kids portion was the best fish and chips she'd had. There were vegetarian and vegan options available if you are eating with people who don't eat animal products, but this is definitely a restaurant that specialises in fish. It isn't the cheapest place to eat in Plymouth, but you have got a seat right on the harbour, and service was friendly and quick.

The fish is fresh and delicious. However I asked the waiter three times for another order of fries and they were not given to me until I left.

Really love this place. Excellent service and food. Great choice of location.

Amazing light batter and tasty fish

Although this is an expensive restaurant the food is good. When we arrived there was only one couple at a table & the waitress asked if we had booked (I thought that was funny!) I said I'm sure you can fit us in but we have booked. Not 20 minutes later we were the only people in the restaurant. I had the Hake fillet grilled & it was perfectly cooked & so meaty. My husband had the mussels in a nice rich sauce. Our son had the seafood tortilla which he enjoyed. I would go back as the food was very good but I'd probably wait for a birthday or anniversary at their prices.

Lovely experience! Was served by a lovely waitress called Cara who made our experience 10/10. Very friendly service and food was very promptly brought out. After Cara’s service and the lovely food I could not recommend enough!

Went on a Thursday lunchtime for a birthday meal with family. As I have a small appetite, I just went for a starter & side from the extensive menu (calamari & chips). Both turned out to be generous portions & were equally as big as a main course. My mother had a very large bowl of very spicy monkfish curry, and my cousins had the local hake, which was tasty but on the small side. All very nice, but curry aside, everything was a bit on the cold side for some reason. Except for the enormous onion rings we shared, which were piping hot. Whereas I'm sure something would have been done had we asked (the staff were super friendly & helpful), we didn't actually discuss it until a week later & all thought it was just our own portion. I think that may be because the fish was served on cold slate, rather than proper crockery, which can be pre-heated, & holds heat. Such is the way with too many restaurants. Never mind. Anyway, lovely view if you get a window seat, good clean facilities (including a large disabled toilet). Cost-wise, I would say this was pretty good value considering how expensive fish is. It's just a shame that the choice of serving plates meant that the food wasn't as good as it could have been.

Amazing food. Seafood really fresh and delicious. Kids menu large enough and the food was fresh/lovely. Service was slow. Staff were friendly but at times it felt they were more worried about catching up on their phones or as a group by their bar than to take orders etc.

Really disappointed in portion size asked for small but I should just have the extra because it was mini size. The staff were excellent the food was edible not worth the effort plent other place in the area. Won’t be back !!!!

Staff were really lovely and the artwork on the walls are really impressive definitely worth a visit the only comment is the seafood platter everything on it is battered and fairly greasy.

The food was great, and all locally caught, which is always a bonus. Price wise was reasonable. Service was great helpful stuff.

The Misto, while perhaps a bit pricey, did provide a great trio of fresh fish and perfectly cooked. Add to this a great location.

Excellent food and friendly service. Would go there again as good range of vegan/ vegetarian options as well as their seafood options. The window tables have a pleasant view towards the harbour.

Lovely setting but mediocre cod and tasteless chips. Wanted to try somewhere different for our fish and chips but sadly left feeling very disappointed. Service was fine but nothing special.

the crispy calamari are one of the best in town..not always but this week definitely were. my little one loves the place..not only for the painted ceilings but for the calamari and the tartar sauce:) not the cheapest but is definitely worth it as a treat. tried the grilled code last week, amaazing!

Went on a quiet Wednesday evening, service was very slow considering. Beer was warm, peppercorn sauce arrived cold and weirdly lemony. This restaurant used to be one of the best in Plymouth, this is no more

All the chips shops on the barbican were shut, it was a Tuesday at 5pm and it was so quiet. So we went for our chips here at their takeaway and the chips were tasteless, no flavour, very very boring. After eating 10 chips we were so bored we threw them away. Even macdonalds does better chips and that says it all!

The fish is fantastic and the service is perfect. It's a big place but even when it's quiet, the staff provide such a lovely vibe. Nice to see front of house and busy chefs working so well together.

Brilliant food. You really get the quality and size that you pay for. They offer vegan fish and chips which is fabulous too. Lovely place along the habourside/water front with fantastic art on the walls.

I went here for a quick lunch. It's very expensive here for the standard of cooking. The fish was very greasy, a bit like it had not had time to just let it stand to allow any oils to drain off it. My granddaughter had a kind of chicken shape, but it had been cooked for too long as it was very dark and hard. Staff were very helpful and polite and the restaurant was lovely but to pay their sort of prices food needs to be cooked better.

Walked past and couldn't resist the smell. Got unbattered sausage and chips from the friendliest chef and server I've met in a long time. Thanks for sorting out lunch before a long drive guys ❤️

Greasy batter and unattentive staff

The burger is awful. Obviously a frozen patty and for £17! Just dreadful. I’m told the fish is good but if you’re going to charge £17 for a burger it better be good. I wouldn’t pay £5 for what I got.

Good food, just a little greasy and the Moules (mussels) were a little tasteless. Cod was nice as were the scallops and prawns

Six of us went inside to eat, we all had Cod and chips and there wasn't a single complaint. The food was perfect and the staff were all very friendly. Highly recommended

Not my first time to this restaurant, and as ever the fish was fresh and excellently cooked. Wonderful server in Nathalie, although at points she seemed to be the only one delivering food and clearing tables while the younger members of staff just hung around...

Delicious food, but prepare to be patient due to slow service.

Waited a long time to be seated yet it was not busy. The waiters ignored us. Eventually, after we were shown to a table they took forever to come and take our order. Our order was messed up but in the end, the food was tasty and good. It was supposed to be a memorable night with my son after passing out but soon became memorable for the wrong reasons. Should I ever visit the UK again I would buy from your takeaway because the food is exceptionally tasty and well prepared.

Loved the food here with a nice view of the harbour. We had the prawn and scallop tacos, crispy prawns with satay sauce and fresh crab roll, all were delicious. Great beer to go with it too! Highly recommended!

Oh no, this fab restaurant has turned into a disaster!! Our son was at Plymouth Uni and We have been going to this restaurant 3 x a year for the last 5 years. It has always been our go to place for a fab fish...

The staff team is amazing. Their personalities are top! The grilled hake is big, and the mussels are so sweet and juicy. The whitebait comes in an enormous portion as an appetizer.

Loved that there was a few vegetarian/vegan options available - portions were huge and I struggled to eat half of what was on my plate! But the food was very good and I really enjoyed the Plymouth Gin. Service was fantastic and all the team I met were lovely.

Nice to get a choice of fish size. We had a small Cod each and shared a large chips which was enormous! Sat at their outside tables. Even the seagulls were quite patient!

Always use the takeaway, so that we can sit outside on the harbourside. The fish is excellent quality, always piping hot as are the chips. Coffee first class. Looked after by Luka. Whenever visit Plymouth this is my first stop for a spot on meal

The cod fish taste really good and size is big .. they give lots of chips🍟 with that. Easily 2 of them eat well... But I am little upset with kids menu..fish finger is just like kid's finger size ..so small and only 2 pieces covered with lots of chips.. it's like chips goes as main menu and fish finger as sample menu.. prefer not to go with kids menu in future - not worth for money. Dine in over costly.. best take away..cheaper and good quantity.

Haddock and chips with pint was just over £20. I wish I had the local hake but haddock was good. The service from the young people was very good. I thought they were students but they were to good and professional. The nice area of Plymouth.

After waiting 20 minutes for x2 cheesy chips which was meant to come out with another order at the same time, they came out seperate to the other order anyway and they were cold. We promptly took them back and he was happy to exchange for fresh ones. Which to my amazement was still cold, the cheese was not melting atall, I asked him to probe for temperature and he said they don’t probe stuff and stated they were fresh when they wasn’t, he wasn’t apologetic atall and continued to deny they wasn’t fresh. The front of house seems to be run by younger adults. A refund was given. As for the other order my daughter had they also said their chips were cold and they were glassy in the middle where they were raw but was too shy to complain.

Fish and chips takeaway, eaten with family after a good evening out. The fish was very nice, but the chips were incredibly bland and slightly limp. And for the price, this was not acceptable.

Fabulous food really kind and informative waiters happy atmosphere clean and we will be back thank you. Our waiter Levi was wonderful. X

Great affordable spot for some delicious seafood. The staff are really friendly but can be overwhelmed when the restaurant is full. Aim to arrive outside the lunch/dinner rush to get better service. The fish and chips options are great!

Checked out that this place is voted 1 of 2 best in Plymouth. Quite possibly the best fish and chips for ages. No fat. Batter crispy and tasty, fish enormous and tender. Definitely worth a visit

Walk past this place loads never actually been in before today but always thought it looks nice….it is nice but it’s nothing spectacular basically a decent fish and chip shop with restaurant prices. I had the burger which was ok but a pretty standard fish...

Great value for fantastic food. Service quick and helpful.

Waited 20 mins to be seated. We should of left. Another 20 mins before we got some ones attention to order. The food was good (, not worth the price) but took so so long.

Very disappointing experience. The service was incredibly poor. Once seated and handed the menu we were totally neglected. No one came to our table to take our food or drinks orders but were walking around the restaurant serving other tables. We were waiting for 20 minutes and still no service - at that point we got up and left. Instead we ate at a restaurant called Bar Rakuda which had great service, lovely cocktails and incredible food.
